Acts Chapter 27 – FIRE2 – 27/40

Day 27: Acts Ch.27. Add surviving a shipwreck to Paul’s long list of harrowing experiences as a missionary. Although Paul was a prisoner at the time, he assured the crew that they would survive the pending shipwreck if they followed God’s guidance. Pray for God’s strength to be faithful during the storms of life. Pray for the Church to Go in Faith, always believing God is in control.

Acts 27

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

17 Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

26 Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

28 And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

30 And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

34 Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

38 And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

39 And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

40 And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

41 And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

42 And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

  1. Verses 23-26 CEV “I belong to God, and I worship him. Last night he sent an angel to tell me, “Paul, don’t be afraid! You will stand trial before the Emperor. And because of you, God will save the lives of everyone on the ship.” Cheer up! I am sure that God will do exactly what he promised. But we will first be shipwrecked on some island.” Don’t worry, be happy”…..your carrying a promise! Remember who you belong to and worship him for His promises are true.

Psalm 34:1-4 CEV “I will always praise the Lord. With all my heart, I will praise the Lord. Let all who are helpless, listen and be glad. Honor the Lord with me! Celebrate his great name. I asked the Lord for help, and he saved me from all my fears.” Isaiah 51:15 CEV “I will help them because I am your God, the Lord All-Powerful, who makes the ocean roar.”

  2. 22. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

    23. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

    24. Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

When we finally grasp the significance of who we are – who we belong to and who we serve – we will tap into a source of power like we have never seen, but has been available to us the whole time!

    I am who I am
    Because the I Am
    Tells me who I am

  3. 43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:
44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

Even though they didn’t listen to Paul when they started out, God’s mercy still covered them because they were willing to listen and be obedient and realized what they had done wrong. There is time to repent for people, even if they didn’t follow what God told them to do from the beginning. God’s mercy is truly everlasting

  4. Acts 27 : 43- 44 But the centurion , willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which swim should cast themselves first into the sea and get to land .
    (44) And the rest , some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship, And so it came to pass, t they escaped all safe to land.
Paul warned them that there would bae much damage to the ship and its contents if they under took the voyage at that time. However, they did not heed to his advice and they soon ran into difficulty. They also lost hope as the wind was driving the ship off course.
Paul prophesied to them that they would lose the ship but their lives would be spared.
Save yourself stay in boat we have purpose and a promise from God.
If we would be hungry enough and humble ourselves to the word of Lord.
Hold on to that promise and purpose.
    Stay in church.
    Thank you Jesus.

  5. 30And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship, 31Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved. 32Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

Sometimes when the storm of life is raging against you and all seems to feel like no hope is in sight, you have to just trust God because He is the captain of the ship. He also controls the wind and rain. No matter how hard you try to drive out of the storm only God can navigate through the troubled waters. We have to give up and let God do what He purposed in our lives.

The church has to be the ship that God can be the captain. We are merely the boat hands doing the work.

It reminds me of an old song that I listen to growing up in church:

she’s a big old ship and she’s sitting mighty low in the water cause she’s been on her maiden voyage every since the day the blood of calvary bought her she’s weathered violent storms some passengers jumped over board and drowned but she’s not just some titanic she’s the church and she ain’t goin’ down

Sail of old ship of zion brave what lurks in the cold dark night sail on old ship of zion till you see that beacon light sail on old ship of zion he’s on board you’re not alone sail on till you hear the captain say “lands in sight, you’ve made it home”

this ship was launched from a hill outside jerusalem caught a brand new gust of wind when she breezed through the upper room rode out a storm with a jail cell song at midnight what makes you think she’s gonna sink in some modern day typhoon ?

Sail on old ship of zion he’s on board, you’re not alone sail on ‘til you hear the captain say “lands in sight, you’ve made it home”.
Tag : sail on old ship of zion sail on old ship of zion sail on old ship of zion he’s on board i can’t wait to hear the captain say “church, you’ve made it home”.

    Live Give Jesus2!

  6. 31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

Even if you only find a shred to grab onto, don’t let go. God will guide us safely through His Will if we are obedient.

  7. 18 and were being exceedingly tossed with a tempest
The next day they lightened the ship.
    —-
And all of this because they did not pay attention and obeyed the man of God.( Paul)
Hard work, trying g to fix the problem and looking for ways to save themselves…
When we put ourselves in situations that we had the chance to avoid and do t do it anyways.. we suffer the consequences and had to work double just to try to go back to the way it used to be.
    Faith= obedience = victory.
Yes, after much trouble they made it.
But it happened because the man of God being present and
    Speaking.

  8. Acts 27:22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

Paul encouraged them to take heart just a moment before.
We must pass hope to others (believers/non-believers)

The storms in our life are real but God is more real in our circumstances.

Isaiah 43:1,2 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, Oh Israel, Fear not : for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

  9. Acts 27
25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

What a journey Paul has encountered yet he kept his faith in knowing that he had heard the voice of God. His words “be of good cheer for I believe God “ was his focus. Truly my prayer today is to stay focused on God’s promises and not the wind and waves of the stormy sea of life. I truly must hold on to God’s promises and know assuredly we will arrive exactly where God wants us to be. Today I must cast aside all fear and anxiety and walk in the peace of God . I must eat the bread God’s word to give strength daily as Paul admonished the crew they needed to nourish their self physically we must truly be nourished spiritually. Help me to be able to say Be of good cheer for I believe God !

  10. Even after the storm and the shipwreck and everything in between. Paul knew that he still had to go to Rome. He knew he wasn’t going to die there. These dreamed and promises should keep you going in every day life!

Keep going I have to stand before kings and leaders of the world.

Keep going I have to see my sisters saved and persuaded in the Truth.

Keep going I have music to play and albums to produce for the Glory of God.

Keep going the Gospel must be peached in that city.

  11. 24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

When God is calling you to a certain place, there’s no court of law or storm. There’s nothing that’s going to stop you from where God wants you to be.

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Let me do as I want, and not obey the most important voice in my life. Pretty much we are about to self destruct! Minister beware… you can lose much!! By listening to the voice of God, it will always bring a blessing! Don’t fear the storm, don’t doubt, and don’t give up.
Disobedience/Rebellion will take to dark places you never intended to go. For some it will be easy to come home. And for others… they may never return and self destruct.

  15. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2

And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

When we serve the Lord with a pure heart like Paul did, the Lord will allow you to find favor with man and God. We find Paul here a prisoner and yet he has more privileges than the rest of the prisoners because of the favor of God that was upon. God will always find ways to bless those who serve him. Thank You Jesus for showing favor to the people of God. This world is not our home, we’re just passing through.

  16. 37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

276 were saved because of Paul. God protected those that stayed in the boat once the ship wrecked thanks to the fact that the Centurion wanted to keep Paul safe instead of killing the prisoners he let them swim to shore. We as a church need to stick together and look out for each other. Lifting each other in prayer and encouraging each other so we can be living strongly for Christ and shinning the light strongly for others. In Jesus Name Amen

  17. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    DECEPTION IN ACTION

13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

DECEPTION is one of the most frequent and effective tools of satan the liar. As we learned from the fall of man in the garden of Eden in Genesis 2. Deception begins with a truth, but ends with a lie.

    GOD SAID
Genesis 2:16   And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

    satan SAID
Genesis 3:1   Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

The TRUTH about the the food from trees was presented in a negative way from the liar, but the lie was at the end. Eve did die to her pure and sinless life.

Likewise. In Acts 27:13 the south wind blew softly or subtil and they though they were ok.

    BUT
14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

It is the “not long after” that becomes so painful and costly. Make every choice with prayer and counsel. They through it was ok to sail, BUT.

DECEPTION – 1a: the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid : the act of deceiving
    resorting to falsehood and deception
b : the fact or condition of being deceived
    2 : something that deceives : TRICK

Walking in the Spirit by reading the WORD of GOD and Praying Daily will strengthen our guard against the TRICK of satan: DECEPTION.

  18. AMP 10 saying, “Men, I sense [after careful thought and observation] that this voyage will certainly be a disaster and with great loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.” 11 However, the centurion [Julius, ranking officer on board] was persuaded by the pilot and the owner of the ship rather than by what Paul said.

Be careful of the voices you listen to. Not everything is spiritual, but everything you seek advice for or listen to can have an effect of the decisions you make spiritually. Somethings come to us as distractions, while other things come to us to see which way we will go and what we will do with what we know.

Choosing to not heed the warning signs could cause you to be shipwrecked spiritually.

  19. We must be ready for the storm as Pauo was. With God on our side everthing is possible. Having favor with our Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to succeed in this life. Daily we must seek wisdon from Jesus. If you are spiritually in tuned with Jesus, He can help guide you through the storms!
Thank you Jesus for this dAy.

  20. 7We had several days of slow sailing, and after great difficulty we finally neared Cnidus. But the wind was against us, so we sailed across to Crete and along the sheltered coast of the island, past the cape of Salmone. 8We struggled along the coast with great difficulty and finally arrived at Fair Havens, near the town of Lasea. 9We had lost a lot of time. The weather was becoming dangerous for sea travel because it was so late in the fall, and Paul spoke to the ship’s officers about it.

Just like life, things will be against us. It won’t be easy, with work, home, church and children to look after. We’ll struggle at times to make tough decisions. Some may work, some may not. Learn from your decision, pray to God, ask friends for advice. But trust in the Lord, and all things will be good at the end.

  21. While we have the promises of God on various parts of our lives – it does not mean that we can just sit down, do nothing and reap the rewards.

For Paul, he relayed that God would save everyone on the ship. However, everyone had to perform their duty. Had the ships crew stopped doing what was needed – there would have been casualties. Verse 31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

From a business perspective, a very expensive part of having employees is the training period. During this time, they are the least productive. Experienced employees must be taken away from their duties to mentor, train and ensure new people are performing as expected. While God is no respecter of person – if we have been trained and are using our gifts and talents for His purpose, the ship continues to sail. This does not mean our position cannot be performed by someone else.

Gods purpose will be completed. He has given each person specific skills to assist in this effort. So, just because the wind is blowing and all looks lost – keep the promises of God close to your mind. It will help us endure the storms of life.

  22. 27:31-32
Paul now has so much credibility that he is inx affect in charge of the ship. Authority does not rest on position alone. Authority comes with integrity and with demonstrated competence. Paul has been proven right before and now was the ships companys only hope.

  23. 27:31-32
Paul now has so much credibility that he is inx affect in charge of the ship. Authority does not rest on position alone. Authority comes with integrity and with demonstrated competence. Paul has been proven right before and now was the ships companys only hope.

  24. 14 “But not long after there…”

This bit of scripture reminded me of Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”.

Like Bro. Smith said last night there is something new everyday. But we find consistency, grace, and love in Jesus! And as we LIVE Jesus, we are called to GIVE that consistency that can only come from Jesus to those around us!

  25. Acts of the Apostles 27:7,20

[7]We had several days of slow sailing, and after great difficulty we finally neared Cnidus. But the wind was against us, so we sailed across to Crete and along the sheltered coast of the island, past the cape of Salmone.
[20]The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone.

    Ecclesiastes 11:4
Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.

    Wind VS. Word of God
In life the winds and storms will come against us but the word of God gives us peace and assurance. Don’t sit around watching the weather. If you watch the weather you’ll get in your feelings and you’ll get out of your faith and the wind will work against you to contradict the word that God spoke to you. Get in the word of God. Don’t let the devil be your weatherman. Don’t watch the wind. Dont consult the forecast but consult your faith. Trust God and His timing. Don’t worry about uncertain situations you can’t control. Watching the wind is trying to calculate something you can’t control. God will see us on the other side. He gives us his word. He will never leave us or forsake us. Keep moving forward against the wind. If you keep watching the wind you’ll never set out. Sometimes we overthink things. As we go through storms God will see us through. Just because the storm is raging doesn’t mean that God has left the scene. Trust God in uncertainty. Which one is stronger the word or the wind? Its depends which one you watch. Faith is a focus. Faith is the ability to say I’m putting my eyes on the goodness of God in this moment and I’m not looking back. I’m not looking forward, I’m not looking around. God is for me, God is with me. My faith is focused on the word of God I’m walking toward. The wind doesn’t have to stop for you to keep walking toward Jesus, the situation doesn’t have to get better for you to see the glory of God. If everything goes worse, if everything gets crazy, if everything rises up against you God is an army, God is an ever-present help in time of trouble and if your is built on the foundation of his word there is no wind that can rage against you that can shake it off because you’re not watching the wind. When you walk on the word no wind is strong enough to you off balance. God is greater than the wind.

    Matthew 14:24-25,27-31

[24]Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.
[25]About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water.
[27]But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
[28]Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
[29]“Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.
[30]But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
[31]Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

  26. Acts 27:9-11 (NLT)
    9) We had lost a lot of time. The weather was becoming dangerous for sea travel because it was so late in the fall, and Paul spoke to the ship’s officers about it.
    10) Men, he said, I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on – shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.
    11) But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and owner than to Paul.

“The Officer Listened More To The Ship’s Captain And Owner Than To Paul”
Be Careful, Take Heed, and Listen to the voice of the Man of God in your life, rather than to other voices in your life. Why? … Because they watch for your souls… (Heb. 13:17). When they have a word of warning for you, you need to heed it, because if you don’t, it will lead to trouble for you and even danger or loss of your spiritual walk with God.

  27. 1 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

I have leaned to stay in God’s ship just to know he is always with you.

    John 16:33
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

  28. 22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

If God said he will do it, He will!

    “I know breakthrough is coming
By faith I see a miracle
My God made me a promise
And it won’t stop now“ // Won’t stop Now

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
    ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  29. 22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

  30. 23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

Angels are the messengers of the Lord. In this scripture’s time frame, angels served to proclaim, however today all of the admonishment we need to have is in the written Word. Thanks be to the Lord for His Word and this country that does not persecute Christainanity.

  31. 44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

Even when a situation looks hopeless, God will be there. There is no storm top great that God cannot calm. Remember our God can do anything. It’s nothing for God to calm the storm in your life. He can bring you peace like none other.

  32. “and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Lord protects his children at all cost and keeps his promises always and forever. There is nothing we should be afraid of, for if we live a faithful life unto the Lord and do his works and remain faithful God is right next to us giving us strength through all. As God children we need to believe in him and have faith in him with all that we have, we need to realize that everything we got out of everything we’re blessed with is because the Lord saved you and protected you. I pray tonight that we have trust in the Lord always and we go out and spread his good news and how he can do what he did for you to others, and bring them home to God.

  33. 43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

The centurion was the vessel God used to preserve Paul’s life. When others wanted to kill him God had other plans. Let us be reminded of this when we are placed in situations as Paul. Although it may not be as severe as Paul, God still will send a “centurion” our way to preserve us.

  34. In our lives we may come up against strong waves that may try to bring us down. Many people and things may try to bring us down but we have to get back up! People may think that you are getting weaker but really you are becoming stronger! We have to always make sure that God is in our everyday plans so we can have a good relationship! I pray tonight that you are getting back up on your feet, to try again!!!

  35. “And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m the midst of a world that is filled with chaos and discouragement as Christians we are to be the light. We should be spreading the love of Christ and encouraging those going through and telling them about our god. The one who is name above all names and worthy of praise. The god who has all power in his hands. Let’s continue to be the light in this dark world and lead others to Christ so they can also become disciples of the kingdom of Christ.

  36. Paul kept calm, because he already knew the end of this ordeal. He trusted the word of God. He even motivated other people to eat in order to stay healthy. I noticed he prayed in the presence of 276 people before he ate. He was not ashamed, what others thought of him. He was teaching by his testimony and works. The Lord help us to be strong and courageous in our trials and vicissitudes.

  37. The voice of the Man of God

10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

The perspective a perception of the world versus that of a Man of God should almost always be contrary. I’ve lived for God long enough now to show you a map of the ship wrecks I’ve been in each time I ignored that voice of reason.

  38. “No one had eaten for a long time. Finally, Paul called the crew together and said, “Men, you should have listened to me in the first place and not left Crete. You would have avoided all this damage and loss.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The disobedience of the sailor cause them to lose. We must obey the man of God in our life for they see over us. Our obedience show our faith in authority.

  39. 10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

They wouldn’t listen to Paul and decided to do it their own way, and it could have ended up a lot worse without Gods hand still being there. I know I have done things my own way in life a few times instead of letting God be in control and it don’t turn out very good. I know life is going to have storms, but I know if we listen to God and the man of God in our life we will have some storms go right over us. God let me give you control over everything today and get out of the way in Jesus Name.

  40. “And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape. But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:42-43‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Whether in any situation we face, if we are a Paul, his friends, or another prisoner on the ship – sometimes we need to take joy in the word “No”. When we learn to say “No”, we prevent ourselves from being overburdened but we also set a standard of what we put up with. There is a lot of power in a “Yes” but there is also a lot of power in “No”. I pray as we grow spiritually we learn the value of our “No”

  41. 19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

If we would only but listen and obey. We can avoid so much heart ache and loss if we just take heed to to the warning of the voice of the man of God. Think about how much they would have saved not only of their lives but possessions. When we disobey the warning of the man of God we loose way more than we want. But thanks be to God for his mercy and second chances to make right what we mess up. He sends his man of God again with another message.

  42. 3 And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

Favor and good character can go a long way. People in authority recognize who they can count on to act with integrity. In this case that would be Paul. Julius, was courteous to him and allowed him to go with his friends to refresh himself. When else have you heard about a prisoner released to hang out at their friends house during a prison transport? The favor of the Lord was upon Paul wherever he went and this was no exception. This shows us that when we are on a mission for Christ Jesus then anything can happen.

  43. Acts 27:11

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

This hasn’t changed, you gotta have faith to listen and believe what the man of God has said. People want physical proof in front of them to believe something..that’s why I’ve been saying miracles follow after testimony. When you share that testimony of yours or anyone’s whether it be someone being delivered someone getting a miracle in their body or whether it be someone getting a financial miracle. When people hear what you have to say about those things their faith rises. Then the faith in man dies and the faith in God rises. If you’re around the same person everyday then work on them consistently at a decent pace and share with them what Gods doing and see what happens.

  44. 16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

17 Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

    18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

The means the sailors used did not succeed; but when sinners give up all hope of saving themselves, they are prepared to understand God’s word, and to trust in his mercy through Jesus Christ.

  45. 33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

Paul represents our Pastor in this passage. He is always there to look after not only our spiritual health, as well as our physical health. He knows when life has become too taxing and we need to be fed spiritually to survive. The soldiers wanted to kill all of the prisoners, however, because of Paul’s wisdom and favoring with God they were all spared. That is why it is always a dangerous place to be without a Pastor. Living life on your own and not being accountable to anyone does much more harm than good. We all need that covering and support of someone that knows when we need fed.

42 And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

  46. 21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

During the middle of the storm, Paul touched the Lord for himself and those on the ship and was able to encourage them during the worst possible weather for a ship voyage. Thank God he knows what we have need of before we even ask!

  47. ““Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and the owner than to Paul.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The voice of your spiritual leader should be one of the most influential in our lives. It seems like it always start off with disobedience. From disobedience it’s a stairway down to destruction. It will lead you down a path you don’t wanna go, it’ll keep you longer than you intended, take you out further than you even imagined.

  48. 22 But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. 23 For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, 24 and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ 25 So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said. 26 But we will be shipwrecked on an island.”
Acts of the Apostles 27:22‭-‬26 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.27.22-26.NLT

Storms are necessary parts of life. Some are little rain storms, where others are torrential and seemingly leave your life in ruins. But take heart because God is working in those storms. God is working all things out for His Purpose. He is for us. Not against is. God is good and faithful. All the time

  49. “And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Clauda = “lame”
a small island nearly due west of Cape Malta on the south coast of Crete, and nearly due south of Phoenice

This island that destroyed their ship but saved their life was called “lame.” Sometimes what we go through that may make us lame is what God uses to take us to victory.
