Acts Chapter 28 – FIRE2 – 28/40

Day 28: Acts Ch.28. Paul finally reaches Rome, the center of trade and government in the Western world in his day. From there, others would carry the Gospel around the world. As the Gospel spread, God used dramatic conversions, courageous missionaries, and miraculous healings. The early Church movement overcame angry crowds, shipwrecks, and death, as it traversed 20 centuries to our day. Pray today that we would faithfully go, carrying the transformational message of Jesus Christ to the next generation.

Acts 28

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

11 And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

14 Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

  1. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

    Isaiah 6:9-10
9 “And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.”
10 “And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.”
    ‭‭
I am sure that Paul left heartbroken by preaching good news to those who did not want to hear it. In view of the rejection by the people, Paul was determined to preach the gospel to those that were willing to receive it. I’m sure some of us have been there before someone has rejected the word a family member, friend, coworker keep on keeping on somebody will hear this beautiful message of salvation.

  2. Verse 9 MSG “Word of the healing got around fast, and soon everyone on the island who was sick came and got healed.” This verse caught my attention this morning, the people just didn’t come to get prayed for or have hands laid on them; but, rather they just came and got healed…..plain and simple! My God can do ANYTHING!

Verses 30-31 MSG “Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open.” Let us LIVE-GIVE JESUS² urgently with all who enter into our lives.

  3. 30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Paul’s mission was simple. He would go to a place for preach/teach about God and go to the next place whenever God told him. Things don’t have to be complicated concerning the kingdom of God. Paul accepted his trials openly, defended himself and let God take care of the rest and then simply dusted his feet off and went to the next place. If only we could develop that same mindset. Teach Jesus everywhere we go, if they don’t like it move on to the next person.

  4. 3. And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the FIRE, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

    5. And he shook off the beast into the FIRE, and felt no harm.

If we let the FIRE² go out in our lives, how will we destroy those things that attack and try to destroy us?

The FIRE destroyed the viper, but Paul felt no harm…

    Isaiah 43:
    1. But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

    2. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the FIRE, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

  5. 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Whatever it is, throw it into the fire and let God purge away anything not of Him. The fire will get rid of any impurities if we allow it. Set a fire in our hearts today Lord so we may be pure before You.

  6. 18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

Some may over look “examined”. In this context of the Roman rule, to be examined was to receive a severe beating. Today, we have it very easy, in that we need to defend our faith. It is necessary that we are prepared to explain what we believe and why we believe, to be an effective wittness in outreach

  7. Acts 28: 6- 7-8 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly; but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a God.
    (7) In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
    (8) And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and a bloody flux, to whomd Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
Paul was bitten by a snake ,and it didn’t even harm him.
They thought he must be a murderer and was being punished.
Many people were healed in those Three months.
Sounds like our church is having right now 40 days of Fire.
    Haulula glory to Our God.

  8. 22 but we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest
For as concerning this sect, we know that everywhere is spoken against.

🙌 Paul turned every bad situation
Into opportunities to share the gospel.
Here , he is about to open his mouth
And open the scriptures to them.
    And again, some will believe
    And others won’t.
The point is to share it. God will always make a way.
We just need to be willing.
    🙏
    Hallelujah 🙌.

  9. Acts 28
23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

    Paul Does Not Quit
It seems that nothing will keep Paul from sharing Jesus and the message. They have just come through. storm , shipwrecked on an island of natives who actually take good care of then , he is bitten by a viper ;still in bondage yet Paul keeps on testifying.
Not only that but now he has his own private home where God allows him to continue teaching for two more years All of this in the midst of adversity.
No vehicles with heat , no clothes dryer to dry out the wet clothes , no fast food stop nor a hot cup of coffee drive thru, no ER for a snake bite yet Paul just won’t quit! God my prayer today clothe me with daily strength to keep proclaiming your word to share it daily with someone no matter what circumstances I find myself going through . In Jesus name.

  10. I Love POFW! LIVEJESUSGIVEJESUS2. TELL everyone about Jesus and what your life is like with him. We all have testimonies. We all are different. Some people catch on easy and some people need illustration such as drastic as a snake biting Paul and he shook it off into the fire and was not harmed. We have to get the word out to save people. We want to go to heaven and alot of others do too.

  11. All we have to do is plant the seed. It’s up to the hearers and the rest of the people listening if their gonna accept this truth or not.

“And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:24-25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As ministers and preachers of The Gospel. It’s frustrating to us when they don’t accept it because we spent so much time and effort into them. May Gods love show them the truth. Allow them to receive it. In Jesus name.

  12. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
We have lost the art of rebuking folk in the 21st Century. Folks cry that we’re too mean, too disrespectful, not compassionate, and unbiblical…but look at Paul’s words here, he holds nothing back. He lets the Jews know how stiff necked they are and lets them know the Gentiles will be taking their places at the dinner table. In today’s society I’ve been in simple disagreements and folks think I’m the antichrist 😂. Folks woulda never made it back in dem days…plus can you imagine no ac?

  13. Acts 28:3,NKJV But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
5 But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm

Luke 10:19 NKJV “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The Lord will make a way so you can continue to do His will.

  14. Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

There will be some that hear the gospel and will except it in their hearts and there are some that will not. We must be a witness to all the world that want to hear the gospel and let God take care of the rest.

  15. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

When you have the power of God in you and over you, you will be able fend off any thing that can and will harm you. There comes many things in the world that will try to destroy our walk with God, that will try to allow doubt and fear take over you and cause you to lose out with God. But if we stay focused and believe when we speak the name of Jesus there will be things in heaven, things in the earth, and things under the earth that will blown down and say Jesus is lord. We just have to shake off the world and keep pushing forward with the kingdom of God.

Share the power of Jesus everywhere we go, just like Paul on the the island began to pray for the sick and they were were healed. Be bold and take advantage of the opportunity. Live give Jesus.

  16. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    FIRE2

3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

28 Days ago many of us at The POFW made commitments to FIRE2 that over the ensuing 40 Days we will commit ourselves to Prayer, Outreach, Fasting, Worship. These pledges or commitments were intended to lay sticks on the FIRE to make the FIRE stronger, brighter, hotter and longer than ever before.

As with the apostle, the heat has revealed some vipers. Trouble, problems, temptations and accusations have arisen and fastened themselves to many. For some the vapor has caused a default of commitments, Prayer neglected, Outreach not attended, Fastings broken and Worship missed.

The BIBLE Blog as a gauge, has declined significantly over the past 28 days, prayer meeting attendance has become secondary to other life events and so the trend has gone.

JESUS is calling us today to SHAKE off the the beast into the FIRE. Seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD and not allow circimstances to cause us to lie to GOD. Remembering a commitment that we made as we REMEMBERED the Body and Blood of JESUS. Don’t allow the venomous serpent to squeeze you from your commitments. Tell self and others no to temptations to take us away from our pledges for another 12 Days and lets FINISH strong.

  17. Believe it or not

24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

There are times in my life that I chose not to believe; in God, myself or others. There are times in my life I chose to believe it all with no evidence of fact or reality. When we struggle to believe it shows that we are grappling with something that really exists. The struggle shows faith is not just a figment of our imagination. There truly is a God, and there is salvation in Jesus, different and greater than even our grandest thoughts and ideas.

We’re inclined to paint our own picture of reality. We like to see things “our way.” Our way usually happens in two places. First, when we have something in our lives, we don’t want to let go of and when there’s friction in a close relationship. So, when read that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” and tells us that even the most decent of us have a broken relationship with God, how should one respond – believe it or not.

Who wants to hear that the sin we enjoy is the ultimate addiction, worse than any drug? And that it makes us repulsive in God’s sight, like a spiritual leper, horribly diseased in soul? Living for God and having a close relationship with Jesus can certainly be challenging. But truth is so often stranger than fiction. We need to face hard truths about ourselves, as sinners.

Romans 3:21-24 But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. MSG

  18. “Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:28‬ ‭KJV

Not everyone is willing to accept the truth(gospel). As long as we keep planting those seeds in our region. Not every seed is going to grow, but Hallelujah to the seed that does!!!! As for me, I do continue to plant seeds no matter whether it be here or out of town. I may not always see the harvest, I rejoice. Just being able to see what Jesus is doing in the lives of people.

  19. 26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

We have the opportunity to live in a world of revelation where God reveals things to us from His word and spirit. It is up to us to dig it out, open the book and spend time listening to hear.

The more we learn, see and hear the more we should want to learn, see and hear. I don’t want to just go through the motions and on judgement day see all that could have been obtained but missed out on because I wasn’t willing to take the time to open my ears, eyes and heart to the Lord

  20. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
We have lost the art of rebuking folk in the 21st Century. Folks cry that we’re too mean, too disrespectful, not compassionate, and unbiblical…but look at Paul’s words here, he holds nothing back. In today’s society I’ve been in simple disagreements and folks think I’m the antichrist 😂. Folks woulda never made it back in dem days…plus can you imagine no ac?

  21. 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

No matter where you go or where you may end up at we live for the sole purpose of spreading the truth. My heart swelled with Joy when I read verse 28 for that’s the main reason why we have learned the truth!!! Thank you Jesus for making salvation available to us!!! Remember our life should be dedicated to spread the good news of salvation in the Name of Jesus Christ and the filling of the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. Paul was given favor even in his incarceration, he dwell in a home and received all visitors unlike any other prisoners.

  22. 23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

When we are in a trial, we should be asking the Lord what the purpose of the trial is, and not be focused on our dilemma. God uses Paul’s circumstance to reach souls for the kingdom because Paul chose to magnify God and his kingdom rather than be downcast on his own problem.

  23. We see that Paul is spending time with other believers. Jesus is giving Paul time to teach and preach the gospel. This created new converts. What are we doing
Through the leading of Jesus to accomplish the teaching of the Gospel to others?

  24. Acts 28:30,31 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Keep being bold and reach the lost sharing the kingdom Of God and teaching Truth!

  25. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

Notice how Paul did not go looking for a snake to handle, as some people do and we have been coined “snake handlers” due to this misconception. Paul happened to have a snake attack him and God protected him. God will protect us from harm and issues in life that we are not expecting. However, we may not always get the same treatment if we go out looking for trouble and walking into harm’s way! It is insensible and irresponsible to think otherwise.

31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

  26. 28:4
The snakebite was at first assumed as proof Paul was a criminal. When he. survived it was thought to be proof he was a god.
How foolish it is to Jump to conclusions.from observations of a incident or two.Lets be more wise in judgment of others

  27. 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

We must remember that no matter what comes our way in life wicked or of this world we have the power to stand against it because we are given power through the Holy Ghost, all we have to do is speak the name of Jesus and demon will flee. But it is also important that we must maintain a righteous and holy lifestyle and walk in the spirit every day instead of just walking in the world.

  28. Acts of the Apostles 28:27-28,31
[27]For the hearts of these people are hardened,
        and their ears cannot hear,
and they have closed their eyes—
    so their eyes cannot see,
        and their ears cannot hear,
        and their hearts cannot understand,
and they cannot turn to me
        and let me heal them.’
[28]So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.”
[31]boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one tried to stop him.

Jesus i pray that our world will be open to hearing your word.

  29. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That just isn’t true. The closer you walk with God (like Paul), the more the enemy attacks you. Satan only fights those who have taken a firm stand for God. I would be more worried if Satan were leaving me alone. It might mean that I was not fulfilling God’s will.

  30. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Trust in God and give it to the Lord. There are certain things that jump at you and attack out of the nowhere when you get closer to the fire. We could learn much from Paul’s reaction. He simply continued in peace becuase he trusted God. And then shook that thing into the fire. When the unexpected comes at you go and give it to the consuming fire. Notice that he didnt get alarmed and he did not go run to man for help in desperation. He simply knew where his help comes from, and gave it to the consuming fire. And kept on with his life. When things arise go pray. Go to Jesus first. Always. He will guide you or simply take care if it for you. Cast your cares upon him.

  31. Acts 28:3 & 5-6 (AMP)
    3) But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper crawled out because of the heat and fastened itself on his hand.

    5) Then Paul (simply) shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no ill side effects.
    6) But they stood watching and expecting him to swell up or suddenly drop dead….

As a child of God, the devil (a viper, a snake, the serpent) is going to try to fasten himself to us to try to cause us spiritual harm or death, BUT because our Faith and Trust is in God, all we have to do is “Shake him Off,” and we do not have to suffer any ill side effects from his attack, BECAUSE God is our Savior and our Healer and our Prince of Peace!

  32. 1Once we were safe on shore, we learned that we were on the island of Malta. 2The people of the island were very kind to us. It was cold and rainy, so they built a fire on the shore to welcome us.

A very good gesture. Be kind, polite and serve others. If people feel comfortable around you, the better chance of being friends, and be able to talk to them about Jesus. Be friendly and hospitable all the time.

  33. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

When we allow the fire of the Holy Ghost into our lives, it will purge out sin without causing us harm.

  34. How many of us see a person that may look poor, walking and talking slow etc… and we may think the person could be lazy, or not with the program? We should never judge a book by its cover as that person may not be the person we see with Gods eyes! Do not be quick to judge anyone. I have encountered rude people and perhaps they lost a job, lost a family member, been diagnosded with a terminal ill disease. Paul was judged as a murderer, then a god! Be wise in al we do. Many negative people may be lacking our ord and savior Jesus Christ. I pray for anyone who I don’t know and they appear to be having issues. Try to love all of Gods children.
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  35. 25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

  36. 28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

The plan of salvation of our Lord, was so beautiful, since the beginning included us. When Mosses gave the law to the people and the Lord said you will be a priest and you will show to the the other nations . Sadly the original Israel rejected God. Now thank God, we are the Israel, together with the ones who trusting Him. The Lord said i will make one nation of two people . The real Israel or the bride of Christ. Praise the Lord!

  37. 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

This is a great way to say that Paul was a man made in the image of God! Do you love that Paul got bitten by the snake and survived and did not have any markings that would show that he was bitten by a snake. Also a way to say that Paul may have made mistakes but he now with a new man and did not show by his actions of the way that he looked that he was a man that has made those mistakes.

  38. 10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Island living isn’t always easy but this goes to show how people can be resourceful with what they have available. Barbarians were considered an uncivilized group of people. So ordering a cargo ship wasn’t exactly their practice. They lived off the land and worked with what they had.

They knew what hardships ships go though in bad weather conditions. Over the years they must have seen many ships tossed around by the raging seas. That’s why they regard Paul so highly. The snake gives them pause and wonder if they were wrong. Could God have saved Paul from wreckage to be killed by a poisonous snake? No. Paul had much to teach them and the Barbarian islanders needed Jesus filled Gospel instruction and healing. His willingness to serve the islanders resulted in their willingness to support him with the necessities he would need for the rest of his travel. God blesses the servant and the giver.

  39. v31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

His mission is the same today because the gospel works wherever it’s preached.

  40. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Not everyone will believe. However, as the people of God, we cannot allow that to affect us. We must move forward even in the hard times. Our God is not the author of confusion, he is truth. Once you find truth, you hold on to it and never let it go.

  41. “For the next two years, Paul lived in Rome at his own expense. He welcomed all who visited him, boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one tried to stop him.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:30-31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Paul was preaching with boldness which cause the enemies to not even oppose him. The church will speak in boldness and unity.

  42. 6 The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.

The expectation of the people did not align with What God allowed to happen. Let us remember this when we are going through rough situations. The people will voice their expectation but we must not allow their expectation to sidetrack us from What God is doing. God is using us as examples for the people. We must be still and know that He is God.

  43. “Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Continue doing the work of the lord with confidence no matter what. As long as you obey the voice of god and what he has called you to do be will make your path straight. Don’t give up on what god has called you to do. Don’t give up on reaching the lost souls. Continue to pray and fast daily and don’t give up the hope. Remain confident in doing the work of the lord.

  44. 5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

When God is with us nothing shall come against us. Once we have excepted God into our lives, we should not be feared of anything! I hope to always have God with me cause he is amazing and someone I could never live without. He has done so many unforgetful things for me, and I can’t wait to see what He has planned for my future! I pray tonight that we are all excepting God into our lives cause He wants us mad we should always want more of Him!!!

  45. “So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Lord wants to save all, he wants everyone to be with him and not living a life with the enemy he loves and cares for all. We were given the choice to choose salvation with the Lord and his peace and joy, or to go out in this world lost and many chose the wrong path. But as the children of the Lord we need to go out and show them that God does forgive, he does save and bring them passed where their at. I pray that we go preaching the word of God daily, to the lost souls and to those that were once saved. Show them God is the only right way.

  46. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

People are always watching us, especially when trials come, just to see how we respond. Our response either says that we are true Christians, and not just some other “Christian”.

  47. 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

  48. The apostles fought their way thru so many adversities and adversaries to spread the gospel. We want the revival that they had, or we say we do??? But we don’t want to do what they did. We have trouble today just getting people to come to outreach. People avoid doing the work of God so much then they act like they are exited about revival. We will never have the results if we don’t do the work.

  49. 23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

No matter how gentle we tell others about Jesus, not everyone will receive Him.

  50. 23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Paul was blessed of God no matter where we went he was protected by God not even a snake could hurt him. He was on a journey to defend himself and lifted of the most high Jesus Christ nothing stopped him.

  51. “So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.””
Acts of the Apostles 28:28 NLT

God’s salvation was being preached to the people and their hearts are hardened and declined God. God has offered His salvation to everyone that will receive it, and like Jesus, we have to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Jesus sharing the goodness of Jesus.

  52. “And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We need fellowship with other believers. This isn’t a one man show. We all make up the Body of Christ and need each other to be encouraged and strengthened. The Bible says Iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. I pray as we mature in our relationship with Jesus, we take the wisdom He has given and use it to encourage those around us

  53. The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.
Acts of the Apostles 28:6 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.28.6.NLT

I’m am still amazed everyday by the Power of the Hand of God I’m our lives. Hallelujah!!

  54. Acts 28:26-27

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

We need to pray for every person that we come in contact with that God opens their ears to hear with his ears and to see with his eyes the people are blinded by sin when I received the Holy Ghost just like Paul said it was as if scales had fell from my eyes and I could see it so clear and everything was so bright and it was like I had been living in darkness for so long when God filled me with the Holy Ghost and now i had a light and truth in my life we need people to soften their own hearts by humbling themselves and praying.

  55. “So a time was set, and on that day a large number of people came to Paul’s lodging. He explained and testified about the Kingdom of God and tried to persuade them about Jesus from the Scriptures. Using the law of Moses and the books of the prophets, he spoke to them from morning until evening. Some were persuaded by the things he said, but others did not believe.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭28:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We have an assignment. We are to go and teach and make disciples. We must go and let Jesus out of our four walls and testify of His goodness. And once we do that let God do the rest.

  56. Paul was teaching Gods word and again many were confused and some were going against him, again. No matter what the situation, with Gods love and Pauls stroang believe in Jesus, he continued on. When being persacuted, he knew God had his back. Jesus used Paul as a vessel as anyone of us can be used the same way. If we gave up any timje a negative situation arose, we would be in major trouble. Love the Lord Jesus and with His guidance, EVERTHING is possible. Paul is an excellent example of what a Godly Christian is. If we get rejected, keep going!
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  57. “And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him. And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul had to have some alone time before he spoke with the Jews of Rome. During this time we know that he was not just by himself, but that he was also speaking with God. This allowed him time to prepare and listen to the Lord so that he could be ready. There are times that we don’t allow this waiting to occur. We are too fast paced and don’t let God give us direction. Sometimes we need to slow ourselves and allow God to speak to us before we can speak to others.
