Acts Chapter 1 – FIRE2 – 40/40

Day 40: Acts Ch.1. I am amazed at the many references to. (1) the prayer life of the early Church and (2) their unity of mind and heart. These two characteristics, along with a total dependence on the Holy Ghost, were the keys to the rapid expansion of the early Church. Yet today, we scratch our heads and wonder why our churches are in decline. Ask God to help you be an active part in being of “one mind and one spirit, striving together for the faith of the gospel.”

Acts 1

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.

13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

  1. Verses 23-26 MSG “They nominated two: Joseph Barsabbas, nicknamed Justus, and Matthias. Then they prayed, “You, O God, know every one of us inside and out. Make plain which of these two men you choose to take the place in this ministry and leadership that Judas threw away in order to go his own way.” They then drew straws. Matthias won and was counted in with the eleven apostles.” The Lord knows each and every one of us inside and out. He knows what is in the very core of our motivation. God has chosen us for different ministries and has placed some in leadership roles. We must be very careful that we don’t throw everything away in order to go our own fleshly way. God help us to wait upon you and to be directed by your promise. Thank you Lord for your love and mercy. LIVE-GIVE JESUS²

  2. 13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

They were in the same mind frame waiting on the promise of God. So many times when we are promised something, we are so impatient that we will truly miss the blessing of God’s promise and we get frustrated because we did not tarry long enough and focus on God. We have to be in a place of unity with the Holy Ghost to be able to hear the voice of God. So many times we get distracted from where we are going and end up in the wrong place.

We have to be in accord with the pastor and the leadership of the church and hopefully be an integral part of the revival just like the apostles and all the disciples that followed the instructions of God. Our purpose is to be ready to preach the gospel and reach as many as we can until the trump of God sounds and then we stand before the throne of judgment and we can hear the word of God, well done thou good and faithful servant. That is what being in unity with the church and living Jesus to give Jesus will result in. So don’t get discouraged and let’s have revival.

  3. And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Simple instructions. Sometimes when God instructs us to do something he lays out the details as things unfold, sometimes he gives his plan from the beginning and then there are times like this, where the work has been done and it’s just a matter of waiting. There are times when we don’t need to respond or take action onto something but rather just wait and let the Lord do its part and fulfilling a promise or assignment. It’s not about the Dynamics of what we are doing rather if we are obeying the instructions that God gave us

  4. “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:5, 8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And so today we wait for the promise of the Father. Many will have a new birthday. The most important day of their life is today! I’m thankful that GOD ALMIGHTY kept His promises for me as it had been prophesied in the book of Joel 2:28.
Happy BIRTHDAY POFW today we celebrate and rejoice to those who are being birthed into the KINGDOM OF GOD. 🙌♥️♥️🎉🎉🎉🎁🙏🙌🎊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

  5. Acts‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭AMP
“All these with one mind and one purpose were continually devoting themselves to prayer, [waiting together] along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”

‭‭They had true unity as they waited together for one purpose. Blocking out all distractions they were with one accord in prayer.

  6. 24 Then they all prayed, “O Lord, you know every heart. Show us which of these men you have chosen

God knows us better than we know ourselves. Inviting Him into every situation to guide us in decision making can save us a lot of unnecessary pain and anguish. Thank You, Lord for Your Wisdom and Counsel. I praise Your Holy Name.

  7. 3. During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God. NLT

…and during these 40 Days of Fire², He has proven to us that He is still alive and doing mighty works – I can’t wait to see what He has in store for today and the weeks and months to come!

  8. Acts 1
You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon you ………….

6 When they were together for the last time they asked, “Master, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now? Is this the time?”

7-8 He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”

    Amplified

7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know the times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority. 8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”

  9. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Persevering with the mind of Christ in singleness of purpose in our prayers of thanks aswell as petitions, will move the Chruch forward in fullfilling the great comission.

  10. 3 And during the 40 days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God. In our time of living for God we see many many signs and wonders proving his power and his love. God is so good to us that we should want to share with everyone we come in contact with. During these 40 days of fire I have personally had two miracles and shared many signs and wonders with all! Praise be to Jesus and all he has done for me. I live POFW! LIVEJESUSGIVEJESUS2

  11. 3During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

We all fasted something and suffered 40 days. But its nothing compared to how Jesus suffered for us, and the pain he endured. Our 40 day fast was easy to do. Give Jesus a big thank you for taking our place. Give Jesus praise!

  12. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    WAIT FOR THE POWER

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

How many times has our flesh pressed us to make a move, or act on a situation? For me it has occurred many times, JESUS speaks to us in verse 8 about the value of patience, the benefit of waiting for and on HIM.

We often feel pressed or compelled to do something within our own power, ability or authority. Usually in regard to vengeance or a reaction to a situation.

    BUT

We are instructed here to GO TARRY until.

    UNTIL

The Holy Ghost comes on us, the POWER of GOD fills us so that we do not only respond in our power and authority but we respond in the power and authority of the Holy Ghost or POWER of GOD.

What could I do in comparison to what the POWER of GOD can do THROUGH me.

There are some situations that we must simply TARRY and wait on JESUS to show himself among us. Wait for the moving of the Spirit, we continue in Prayer, seeking the will of GOD, but we WAIT FOR THE POWER.

Victory is imminent and Peace is promised as we WAIT FOR THE POWER.

Today we celebrate as we WAIT FOR THE POWER of JESUS to fall on us. We will continue to be witness to Miracles, Signs and Wonders.

  13. Acts 8-9 But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses upon me both in Jerusalem, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    The Ascension of Christ
Jesus was with His disciples in Jerusalem.
He ascended, he sit forth the program for Christians of all times. Christians are commissioned to get the Gospel message out to their immediate area, the surrounding area and the uttermost parts of the earth.
We have same commission to get the gospel out to this world.
    Thank you Jesus.

  14. 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Waiting for a promise is never easy. Sometimes we think God has forgotten the promise and it will never come to pass. Sometimes we take it upon ourselves like Abraham and Sarah and try to make the promise come to pass on our own. We see where that God them – Ishmael and Isaac – forever at each other still to this day.

Be patient, don’t get weary in well doing. Continually rehearse the promise before the Lord in faith believing, and in God’s perfect timing we will see those things that we are waiting and believing for. Today could be the day that our promises come to be!

    It’s Pentecost Sunday!!!
What happened over 2000 years ago it’s happening now.
👉🏼 NOW is the time for salvation.

  16. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Today is the day, we have believed and prayed. Today we shall receive power. Today we shall see deliverance. Today we shall see healing. Today we shall see miracles, signs, and wonders. Today we shall see souls saved!

  17. 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

The apostles knew the Holy Ghost was coming, but had never experienced it. It’s the same with any new believer seeking to be filled today! It is a wonderful experience that brings such joy and peace and is the greatest gift from God! I pray many new believers be added to the church daily!

  18. v8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Lord gave birth to a church that He designed to grow and emerge as a dynamic, proactive, mission-minded,consecrated, passionate, and powerful organism.

His message would begin at Jerusalem and spread throughout the world like flames from an
    inextinguishable fire.

  19. Acts of the Apostles 1:14
They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.

    Acts of the Apostles 2:1
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place

  20. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Both—
    Outline of Biblical Usage:
    not only… but also

In this case “both” is not meaning both. Both in this case mean much more. We have to be the witness that can go all the way to the ends of the earth.

  21. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Power comes after the Holy Ghost has been received. Don’t be fooled by the imitation of power. True power comes from God and is Supreme to anything the devil tries to throw at you. We must keep our eyes on Jesus no matter what we do. It is by his power that we live, move and have our being.

  22. 23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

God knows our heart and when we pray he will always direct us to his plan for your life and his ministry.

  23. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2\
And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

The church would move on. The betrayal from Judas would not cripple them, but they would press on and install someone to take his spot. No matter what position in the church someone might hold, that position can be replaced and someone better can be installed.

  24. Acts 1:5, “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

Baptized with Water and Baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Jesus said in St. John 3:5, “Except a man be born of Water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
It takes both to be saved.

  25. vs-6
and another time when he appeared to them they asked him Lord are you going to free Israel (from Rome) now and restore us as an independent nation?
The disciples expected Jesus to immediately set up the earthly kingdom predicted by the prophets. Christ did not deny the prophets vision but rather redirected their attention. God will keep His O.T. promises- in His own time. The disciples concentrated on bringing Christ to the world.
WOW!!!!!!! WHAT A GREAT SERVICE WE HAD THIS MORNING.

  26. 15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

Very often we forget, without the tough times, we would miss out on how Great the good times really are.

Because of this, we have a story/ song that the angels cannot, we have been redeemed!!!

  27. 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

  28. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
That power is not changing. Jesus do not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We have this power to be bold and preach the gospel of salvation!

  29. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
That power is not changing. Jesus do not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We have this power to be bold and preach the gospel of salvation!

  30. Acts 1

1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

With receiving the Holy Ghost we can receive many gifts. Repent, get baptized in Jesus name, and with the Holy Ghost many wonderful things can happen.
Thank you Jesus for this day

  31. 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

United and waiting until the promise comes. God knows it’s hard to wait when it’s just you but hey several together waiting on the same thing and tention will come. It’s how you use it that will make the difference.

Use it to push yourselves to be United and anticipate what’s going to happen.

  32. They come into prayer references So they can have peace and joy with than heart and shouting and rejoice with god.

  33. “and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Wait for the promise! Our thoughts are not His thoughts. Our ways are not His ways. Our math is not His math and the timing we think would be perfect isn’t the timing He operates on. We serve an on time God who will never leave nor forsake us and who has our best interest at heart. Don’t doubt in God when the situation looks bleak but rejoice knowing He has already made a way!

  34. Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses and to me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and into the item is part of the earth.

Thank you Jesus for The Holy Ghost👏🏼

  35. “Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Patience…. wait on the Lord for all his promises towards us will be coming for he won’t ever fail us! I pray we realize that not everything will go the way we want it, God has everything planned and perfect timing for it all. Trust in the Lord build your faith in him more, follow his word and obey his commands for he’s not going to give up on us and as we grow more in him we are raised higher with him and more blessed. Give thanks and praise unto the Lord for he gives us all even when we least expect it.

Thank you lord for the Holy Ghost power that leads and guides us to speak the word of for. Thank him we are able to witness to the lost souls and win them to Christ. There’s just something about the Holy Ghost when it come upon you god moves through you in ways you can not explain. I pray we continue to allow the Holy Ghost to move through us each and every day so we can be soul winners unto the kingdom.

  37. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Prayer is such a necessity that we must use in our everyday life! Prayer can get us through anything and our prayers are answered by Him!!! Praying is just communicating with God. Talking with God is good for the heart and soul! I pray tonight that we are always praying without ceasing!!!

  38.  And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Just a few inches from your promise. A few hours, a few days, in other words, dont give up hope now. The greatest promise anyone can receive is the promise of the Holy Ghost. Likewise, if God has give you a promise, take heart and know that it’s coming. Wait for it. Wait in action. We see what the apostles did as they waited. They continued with one accord with prayer and supplication. They kept praying for it. They kept believing for it. They key is, as they waited the kept on. They didnt sit down and gave up but on the contrary they kept believing his Word. That what he said was true, and kept praying for it to come to pass. The we know what happens on the next chapter…then suddenly. That’s how your promise and word from the Lord might come to pass.

  39. “as an apostle to replace Judas in this ministry, for he has deserted us and gone where he belongs.” Then they cast lots, and Matthias was selected to become an apostle with the other eleven.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭1:25-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God will replace us if we don’t want to be apart of the kingdom. God doesn’t need you, he wants you. Let us be apart of the kingdom of God. Work, sacrifice, build, love for God.

  40. “He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Lean not unto your understanding trust in the Lord for His ways are higher than ours and His thought are higher. No one knows the day nor the hour of coming of the Lord but the days the Lord is at hand, and there’s no other name under heaven whereby man must be saved.

  41. 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Jesus could see all the way into our day and know that Israel would still be in turmoil. Much of the time God doesn’t tell us the whole story to protect us. If he would have told those men that Israel would not be restored in their lifetime or even their great great grandchildren’s lifetime, it would have discouraged them greatly. God knows what he’s doing and we don’t understand it all. Trusting in God is not knowing why or how but knowing that he is in control and not getting bogged down with the details. Thank God fir the information that he kept from me so that I could keep marching forward.

  42. Acts Chapter 1

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

The adding of Matthias to the apostles made it 12 apostles. Matthias name is found only in the first chapter of Acts. The bible does not say he is not mentioned. I believe that Matthias was in the upper room and was a part of the 120 person receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Therefor when Saul (Paul) was made an apostle there must have been a vacancy to make Paul the 12th apostle. Judas committed suicide before the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Mat 27:5 (Judas )And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.

  43. Acts 1:1-2

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

When I witness I always show people the scripture. I tell them that everything I’m about to share with them is everything that Jesus spoke and taught. Before that I make sure they understand that Jesus is God that way whenever I show them this doctrine, this gospel, they know that it’s not coming from men but it’s coming straight from God.

  44. 24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

Never underestimate. “. . . Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen.” He knows our hearts. He knows our hearts when He chose us to serve originally, but He also knows if our heart changed somewhere along the way. Even when we can’t pinpoint it, He can. He give the and He take the away.
