2 Kings 16

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

10 And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

12 And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.

13 And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.

14 And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the Lord, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of the altar.

15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

17 And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon the pavement of stones.

18 And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry without, turned he from the house of the Lord for the king of Assyria.

19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

  1. 3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

He makes his son pass through the fire. is believed that children were passed between the red hot arms of the brass idol, signifying cleansing from evil and dedication to the god. Sometimes the children were killed and burn. Modern-day words mean he put his son through hell.

    Jeremiah‬ ‭7:31‬ ‭
“And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.”

    ‭‭ Ezekiel‬ ‭16:21‬ ‭
“that thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?”

  2. “And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

King Ahaz knew what was expected of him, instead he decided to go against what was taught and rebelled against the LORD when it came to worship and sacrifices.
Ahaz worship was to please others and not THE LORD. Our worship isn’t a shrine our worship is unto our LORD JESUS.

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭4:23-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  3. 15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

Worship of the Lord is rightfully due Him. When we make sacrifices and bestow offerings we can be assured of blessings from the Lord.

  4. 10. And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

    11. And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

We get into real trouble when we think the things of the world are better than what God has for us.

I’ll take Jesus, I’ll take Jesus
    I tried these worldly pleasures
    And they failed
When you see the gates of Heaven
And you hear the Master say
Me or the world my child
    Which one did you take?

  5. 2Kings 16:2-3 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.
    (3) But he walked in way of the Kings of Israel, yea, and made his son pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.
    Ahaz , King of Judah
Ahaz was one of Judah’s worst king, He revived the Canaanitish idolatry and child sacrifice.
Also during his reign, Judah was under attack from all quarters; Syria and Israel to the north, Edom and Philistria to the South.
Even Gold and Silver were stripped from the temple to pay the heavy tribute for Assyria’s help.
Bad King – Being rebellious, against God .
There no help, no way , but Jesus!
Being rebellious what get you no where.
    Thank you Jesus.

  6. 17 And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon the pavement of stones.

We have to be careful what is traditions and what is commanded by God. God designed a perfect plan for the temple, yet Ahaz did how he wanted. Leadership making their own choices desecrated the temple and led people astray. Understanding our heritage and passing down this legacy and WHY we do these things is important. If our children don’t understand the why they may lose the how.

  7. Thankful for the blood of Jesus this morning that we don’t have to bring a bloody sacrifice to the altar. I’m thankful all we have to do is found our way to our prayer closets and just start repenting and it don’t take long for the Holy Ghost to show up. God wants relationship with us, after listening to such a convicting message I realize even more that it does not matter how much you do for the kingdom if you don’t have relationship with Jesus.

  8. 15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

Serving God takes all that we have to offer unto him and him only. We can not pick and choose certain things concerning the word and commandments of God. We have to choose one way or the other. We have to choose either the right way or the wrong way. We can not like Ahaz choose traditions of God and mix them with other traditions that are not of God. Can I say that many Christians today try to do just enough to justify their means and what they love. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. You can not inherit the kingdom of God by straddling the fence. This is not the time for us to be like warm Christians. Let’s get on fire for Jesus and his kingdom.

    • So true. We must choose which way we r to follow. The world or Jesus. Our choice has consequences. Whichever way we choose. Choose Jesus. For He is the way to eternal life.

  9. 20 and Asha slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David and Hezekiah his son reign instead.
    —-
Again just because these men have done wrong, doesn’t mean that the next one will do the same.
It’s a chain of ups and downs
    Good kings , bad kings
Good Can do anything in someone’s life
Regardless of their past generations life styles.
Yes, it does play a big picture
But still , God is still in control.

  10. 7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

You cannot have true victory without christ. The story tells us that the Israelites for losing battles and being attacked by their enemy and they has continued to do evil, but rather than turn to the Lord and repent he had to ask for help and use things that were established for the kingdom of God to cover the cost to have somebody else fight for him. This world is looking for victory and many people don’t see that the answer is right in front of them with God but rather choose to look for other ways to rely on their own redemption and while it may help them in this world it will not help them in the next

  11. Young and determined.

“Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. He did not do what was pleasing in the sight of the Lord his God, as his ancestor David had done.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Young leaders have to be strong. They have to grow up quick at a very young age. They must have mentors that show them truth and show them examples of justice. They have to be taught what is right and what is wrong.

A younger leader must be determined in truth because the world will come against him and try to persuade him otherwise. Yea even tho the ones before you and your friends have the reckless, godless attitude doesn’t mean you have to follow.

Seek God will all your heart. Ask him to give you wisdom and he will grant you such as you ask. Run after Jesus. Be hungry for more of him.

  12. Verses 1-4 MSG “In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah. Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king and he ruled for sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t behave in the eyes of his God; he wasn’t at all like his ancestor David. Instead he followed in the track of the kings of Israel. He even indulged in the outrageous practice of “passing his son through the fire”—a truly abominable act he picked up from the pagans God had earlier thrown out of the country. He also participated in the activities of the neighborhood sex-and-religion shrines that flourished all over the place.” One must be careful of following in the track of evil instead of good. Most of the time, one sin will lead to another and even to things you never intended to partake in. You too without even realizing it can pickup outrageous practices by being around the wrong crowd.

Our Proverb for today says in verse 6 “Great and priceless treasure is in the house of the [consistently] righteous one [who seeks godly instruction and grows in wisdom], But trouble is in the income of the wicked one [who rejects the laws of God].” Also verse 9 “The way [of life] of the wicked is hateful and exceedingly offensive to the Lord, But He loves one who pursues righteousness [personal integrity, moral courage and honorable character].” LIVE-GIVE JESUS²

  13. Gracias a nuestro padre celestial por que hoy es mas facil comunicarnos con el y espresar nuestro sentir sin tener que ofrecer un holocausto

  14. 2 kings 16:7, “So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.”

In our time of trouble, and in our time of need, we should not put our trust in man to help us, but in God. God is the Only One who can Save and Deliver us.

    Thank You JESUS.
I put my Trust in You.
YOU are the One who Saves and Delivers me.

  15. I love POFW! LIVEJESUSGIVEJESUS2! It appears to me in our reading today that the current king in that day was not straddling the fence he was simply eliminating the fence and staying far far from God and his teachings. There’s always a big price for this because its totally against our creator and life giver God the Almighty. And once again the blood of these people under this demonic king was on his hands. Stay close close to Jesus in these last days and hours for he is the truth and the light.

    • 2 Kings 16
2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

Are we truly ready to stand up for what we believe is true worship? Opposition and Opportunity is here . Will we continue to hold to what we know is truth or will we be swayed by idols if this world? The choice will be ours . Was this young ruler enticed by the norm around him. Was he giving in to peer pressure? Only 20 years old yet so captured by idolatry. God help us to show the younger generation the joy of serving and worshipping the true living God. Help us to truly live and give Jesus in a way that young and old alike will be drawn into the Kingdom . The world calls daily to young and old alike but I believe we the body of Christ can make a difference but we must daily inspect our own lives . I pray that nothing nor no one will be an idol in my life that would lead me away from true worship . In Jesus name.

  16. 3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree

Ahaz had to have been cold hearted to rebel against God and turn to idol worship and pass his son through the fire to his idol. Then he cut apart the consecrated items of his own temple. It is unbelievable that this man did so much to destroy himself and the people of Judah and the priest went right along with it. We must have God’s word hid in our hearts so if or when those in power lead this country astray, we who know our God can remain faithful and do expoits. It doesn’t matter who joins them, it will be the losing side. We must choose this day whom we will serve!

  17. God doesn’t take pleasure in those that have set there ways after the world and not his word. I am convinced that the majority of the ills that con against us are self inflicted. We pull away from our devotion and I stead give place to the devil. When we don’t do right in Gods sight, we are asking for trouble.

  18. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
2Ki 16:17 Then the king removed the side panels and basins from the portable water carts. He also removed the great bronze basin called the Sea from the backs of the bronze oxen and placed it on the stone pavement.

Who gave this wicked king the right to change the mode of Baptism? The basin belonged on the backs of these oxen. This is basically what happened around 325 AD. You got these priest lead by a carnal king making changes to God’s Will. Baptism is not to be changed by the king or his priests. It’s simply arrogance to attempt to call the shots for God.

  19. Ahaz thought his ideas of doing things were better than God’s. He followed the ways and traditions of men rather than God. Ahaz was out to please himself rather than pleasing God.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:8-9‬ ‭NKJV “‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ””

  20. King Ahaz sent messengers to King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria with this message: “I am your servant and your vassal. Come up and rescue me from the attacking armies of Aram and Israel.” Then Ahaz took the silver and gold from the Temple of the Lord and the palace treasury and sent it as a payment to the Assyrian king. So the king of Assyria attacked the Aramean capital of Damascus and led its population away as captives, resettling them in Kir. He also killed King Rezin.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:7-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Ahaz surrendered to one enemy in order to defeat another. He refused to trust in the God of Israel and instead submitted himself and his kingdom to an enemy of Israel. Who are we submitted to today?

  21. 3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

Fire in science is used for melting and purifying, but this children were marked by the fire or worse killed by it. My heart could never understand how an adult could believe in this idols to the point of harming their children. God help us!!! I pray for our children and their protection from this world and their influence. Now a days technology has corrupted our children, this so called influencers are destroying their innocence, and some parents still do not recognize what a great deceiver technology is. Kids are no using their imagination, they have greater challenges with a simple problem solving situations, and we call this progress. I pray God to be the biggest influencer in our children’s lives in Jesus Name Amen 🙏🏻

  22. 5-10
Replacing the brazen altar with a pagan altar was only one of several religious changes made by Ahaz. He even went as far as to close the temple.
Shazs capitulation to the Assyrian King was total.

  23. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
DONT MOVE THE ALTAR OF THE LORD

Somehow, king Ahaz found an altar of idolatry to be more valuable than the altar of the LORD. This is very common today in careers, entertainment and children. It is more common today to sacrifice an altar of prayer at the altar of income or career, the altar of prayer at the altar of entertainment and the altar of prayer at the altar of pleasing children.

The NLT paints a clear picture of this process:

14 Then King Ahaz removed the old bronze altar from its place in front of the Lord’s Temple, between the entrance and the new altar, and placed it on the north side of the new altar. 15 He told Uriah the priest, “Use the new altar[f] for the morning sacrifices of burnt offering, the evening grain offering, the king’s burnt offering and grain offering, and the burnt offerings of all the people, as well as their grain offerings and liquid offerings. Sprinkle the blood from all the burnt offerings and sacrifices on the new altar. The bronze altar will be for my personal use only.” 16 Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz commanded him.

Ahaz desired the “New Altar” to be like others, but professed that he would keep the old altar for himself. GOD is not fooled nor deceived. When believers move the altar of the LORD from the front of their life, it is evident that a New Altar and a New Lord has been selected.

In Apostolic REVIVAL we do not build altars to strange gods, but we sacrifice at the ALTAR of the LORD our GOD JESUS.

  24. Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. He did not do what was pleasing in the sight of the Lord his God, as his ancestor David had done.
    2 Kings 16:2 NLT

Young people are determined to make their mark on this world, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, in our world today, so many children are being taught it’s okay to act certain ways and do certain things which then misguides their future. Internally they are confused and longing for truth. They try their hardest to do what is right; to be the best person they can be; to be kind to all. What they need as they try to figure life out, is a life and relationship with Jesus to show them those clear truths and the unconditional love of Jesus! We must reach our world and these upcoming generations!!

  25. 5 Then Rezin the king of Aram (Syria) and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to wage war. They besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome and conquer him.

When we are walk in disobedience, it places us outside the blessings and favor of the Lord, we do not have the power to overcome and conquer our enemy. Obedience brings us back into alignment with God, and empowers us to be victorious.

  26. “Ahaz was 20 years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for 16 years. Ahaz didn’t do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God. He didn’t do what King David had done. He followed the ways of the kings of Israel. He even sacrificed his son in the fire to another god. He followed the practices of the nations. The Lord hated those practices. He had driven out those nations to make room for the people of Israel.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:2-3‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Lord, I pray that you would lead me in your ways. I can do nothing without you. I solely depend on you. I put my trust in you alone.

  27. 2 Kings 16:15-16
[15]He told Uriah the priest, “Use the new altar for the morning sacrifices of burnt offering, the evening grain offering, the king’s burnt offering and grain offering, and the burnt offerings of all the people, as well as their grain offerings and liquid offerings. Sprinkle the blood from all the burnt offerings and sacrifices on the new altar. The bronze altar will be for my personal use only.”
[16]Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz commanded him.

Just because someone tells you to do something doesn’t mean its the right thing to do. You want to make sure your actions and words are pleasing to the Lord and align with the word of God.

  28. 11 “Uriah followed the king’s instructions and built an altar just like it…”

It’s the same same but different – We have all seen knock off brands, we know there is a lack of quality and authenticity to it. Leaving us with the understanding you get what you pay for.
You can buy the cheaper one for a cheaper price or sacrifice and purchase the more valuable one.

We cannot allow anything in our lives to influences us to try to purchase a cheaper salvation. They can look like the part, but will be missing the authenticity of Jesus Christ. He paid the ultimate price and should be treated as such.

Be Jesus by Living and Giving as His Will has instructed you. He’s price is for more valuable than any look-a-like knock off.

  29. 8 And Ahaz took silver and gold that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

When I read this I thought about tithings. How many people do not tithe, but have no problem buying new clothes, going out to eat etc… Everything we have is because of God. When we received the stimulus check, did people give money to the church? We need to do our best to follow Jesus in everyway!
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  30. 2 Kings 16:2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king and he ruled for 16 yrs in Jerusalem, He didn’t behave in the eyes of his God; he wasn’t at all like his ancestor David.

When you don’t behave in the eyes of God, you will participate in sin and move your altar like Ahaz replaced the brazen altar with a pagan altar. v.14

  31. 2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

It’s better to be walk right with Jesus then to walk against him.

  32. 3Instead, he followed the example of the kings of Israel, even sacrificing his own son in the fire. In this way, he followed the detestable practices of the pagan nations the LORD had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.

How easy it is to follow the despicable laws of our countries. Many will fall for the entertainment business, drugs, alcohol, greed, etc. Its all around us, advertisement everywhere, thru television and radios. All these are coming at you daily. Lets put on the Shield of Faith, so all these fiery (carnal) darts can bounce of. Keep your faith in God, and you’ll be able to endure whatever is thrown your way.

  33. 2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

Ahaz grew up with good examples in his life, yet he chose to turn against God.

Judas had the greatest example there was leading Him, and he still chose to betray Jesus.

We can have the most anointed leaders as examples in our life, but ultimately the decision to live for Jesus can only be if we make up our own minds.

  34. 15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

Uriah listened to the king of the moment, not the king of eternity. God help us to seek your will in everything, because you are the King of Eternity.

  35. Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

Now I believe the Word of God to be the absolute truth. There is nothing that can compare to it. In my and inquisitive mind I began to ask; what happened Lord? Where did someone dropped the ball? Where did this king Ahaz become so evil and wicked? How was his upbringing? What shaped and influenced his life? Where did he go off course… who is at fault here?? Was it him? Was his heart just built for evil and to be an enemy of God? If I’m not mistaken the Word teaches us to train up a child in the way they he should go that when he grows old he should not depart from it. So Was it really all his fault? Or did somewhere he got neglected from those that were supposed to teach him the ways of God? Whether it was his parents or whoever was in charge of looking after him and give him the best for of love which is to teach him about the Love of God and his ways. Since this Word of God does not lie, then I have to conclude that someone forgot about this young prince. Some forgot that there was a great love to demonstrate. And to teach him the commands of the Lord. The upbringing of a child is one of the most important things in life not only for them but for the future of a people, a nation, for they will be the leaders of tomorrow. If a generation is failing, who are we to blame? The government, the system? Or did we not take the time to invest and teach one of the greatest commands, behold Oh Israel the Lord our God is one Lord. If we put it into perspective into our lives. The Lord our God and our heavenly Father invests time that we may get it. I don’t have any children, but I belive being a father is one of the most important roles in a man’s life. You are the first view that a child gets of a heavenly father. The first way to relate to it. So if you are blessed or are being blessed to be a father, may you humbly ask the Lord to show you how to be like him as a father and teach your children the ways of God…then I believe they can and will not be shaken from this truth.

Doing things your own way instead of the way of the lord will lead you nowhere but into a deep hole to where you will have nowhere to look but you to the one true savior who can save you. we may think that doing things in our own way may be the better way but we soon realize that it isn’t as good as it seemed. To save ourselves trouble we consult the lord in all that we do because he will never lead us in the wrong direction. He may have us go on a detour route but he will never lead us in the wrong direction.

  37. 3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.
4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

Just because others didn’t or haven’t followed God and his way dose not mean we should not.
The king followed what other people did instead of what God wanted him to do and judgment came. Let us follow what God wants and his word always.

  38. 15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

We can give up many things but if they aren’t sacrifices we’re basically just for our own good, when we fast and sacrifice for God, it needs to be something we struggle to go without, God is wanting to see us be able to go without these things and see us put Him first.

  39. 4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
13 And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
When returning to Demascus the king offered his Burt offerings and he gave everything he had to the Lord. God wants us to give our all to Him in our worship, our lives and everything we do.

  40. iLove to blog the extra mile
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

This verse is in the Bible, Proverbs 15:1 to be specific. It’s hard to accomplish this verse for most folks I reckon. Most folks really like to give a “piece of their mind”. The thing about it is… this verse really does work if we would apply it.

  41. 12 And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.

We must give God our all. Offerings to God doesn’t matter on the amount but on what you give with your heart. If you give little and the person next you gives more, it doesn’t matter as long as you give your all. We should never cheat God out! This is wrong and you will be cursed, we don’t want that lol. I pray tonight that we give whole heartedly and all that we have….remember NEVER cheat God for He is the reason we have what we have.

  42. 16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

Ahaz may have been a king for a short season but his example is mostly what not to do as a leader. He was a king but had no place to tell the priest how to make sacrifices to the Lord. Complying with Ahaz’s commands doesn’t line up with Gods will for his people. When he dies it will only leave room for the opportunity for the next king to clean up the kingdom and rid it of such wickedness.

  43. 2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

    Lineage vs Heritage
    Predetermined vs Choice.
As people we don’t get to choose our Lineage but we do have a choice in our Heritage.
Some maybe blessed enough to be born into a Lineage with Heritage that values the word of God and others may have born into a Lineage with values the things of the world.
Awesome fact about heritage is that it could be preserved and valued as well as it could be destroyed. Ahaz was an example of great Lineage and he made the choice to go against the word of God and what who knew to be true.

The enemy will try to interfere with our lives he will use friends or family to tempt us in any way. As the children of the Lord we need to check our atmosphere, who we let lead us when we need help with something. God brings people in our life to guide us to him like in church we have leaders to help us get closer to him, and learn to do his work. Just that the enemy also has false leaders to try and distract us and get us to lose our way with God. I pray that we do not take the path Ahaz did, but that we turn our lives to the Lord and give ourselves unto him, and grow more and more in him daily. I pray we obey the commands of the Lord even if we don’t feel like it, because he has us do things for a specific reason.

  45. “Then Ahaz took the silver and gold from the Temple of the Lord and the palace treasury and sent it as a payment to the Assyrian king.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Your sacrifice of you have given to Lord can nit be returned to you. Stealing from the Lord is not good. You may need the sacrifice now but have faith in Jesus he will provide.

  46. 14 And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the Lord, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of the altar.

  47. 2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

Ahaz did not follow the right way. He did what he thought was right in his own eyes instead of what God wanted. Too many times we try to do things our way and God is not pleased. We end up getting ourselves deeper in trouble. If we would just follow the way of the Lord, we can come out victorious.

  48. 19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

No matter who you are studying, The Bible is about Jesus, not the characters in it. They are only there for us to have a been understanding of His love for us.

  49. “Instead, he followed the example of the kings of Israel, even sacrificing his own son in the fire. In this way, he followed the detestable practices of the pagan nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Ahaz disobeyed God following into sin doing evil in the Lord sight. Ahaz did the sin that God deliver from and worship false idols. We have the choice to obey God or become

  50. This chapter reminds us of how easy it is to be led down the wrong path. These Kings that went the wrong way were so close to being righteous and following God but the false gods of their world were more attractive. This is why it is so important not to flirt with the line. We must remain safely on Gos side of that line. We must love in this world but our balance has to err on the side of caution. I pray that we all see that line and build a wall of protection around it in prayer and the Word.

  51. “And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria. And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath–pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof. And Uriah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Uriah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭16:8, 10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

King Ahaz robbed God. He not only took the money from the temple, but he also took the worship. Ahaz copied the altar and gave to his copied altar and gave sacrifices on it. This reminds me of how the world is enticing our young people today with worldly music. They have copied something used to worship God and they are worshiping other gods instead.

We will never be blessed for sacrificing someone else for our personal gain. We are all made in His image. The scripture says we don’t wrestle flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I pray we keep Luke 6:36 in our hearts always – Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful

  53. 13 And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
14 And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the Lord, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of the altar.

In the midst of the Lord, while meeting a great God, he. . . What did you do in the presence of the Almighty?? The Almighty shares His moment of great Truth with you and to see our reactions. . .

  54. 16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

He said, “. . . according to all that king . . . commanded.” Follow as your authority they direct! That’ll preach!! Even when we don’t like the answer or the direction given. . . Submission is key!
