2 Kings 17

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger:

12 For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

13 Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.

16 And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

18 Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

20 And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord, and made them sin a great sin.

22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

23 Until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

26 Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the Lord.

29 Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

30 And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

32 So they feared the Lord, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

33 They feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lordcommanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

35 With whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

36 But the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

38 And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

  1. 39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day

As far as we know the ten tribes never return to the land. They are scattered throughout the world, but their identity it’s not hidden from God. He will bring them back to Israel on a comment day. All Godchildren will be together in one glorious day.

  2. Verses 34-41 MSG “And they’re still doing it, still worshiping any old god that has nostalgic appeal to them. They don’t really worship God—they don’t take seriously what he says regarding how to behave and what to believe, what he revealed to the children of Jacob whom he named Israel. God made a covenant with his people and ordered them, “Don’t honor other gods: Don’t worship them, don’t serve them, don’t offer sacrifices to them. Worship God, the God who delivered you from Egypt in great and personal power. Reverence and fear him. Worship him. Sacrifice to him. And only him! All the things he had written down for you, directing you in what to believe and how to behave—well, do them for as long as you live. And whatever you do, don’t worship other gods! And the covenant he made with you, don’t forget your part in that. And don’t worship other gods! Worship God, and God only—he’s the one who will save you from enemy oppression.” But they didn’t pay any attention. They kept doing what they’d always done. As it turned out, all the time these people were putting on a front of worshiping God, they were at the same time involved with their local idols. And they’re still doing it. Like father, like son.” Oh how this sounds like the warning from last Sunday night. The time is short and the time is now to take things seriously. Our Proverb for today says in verses 2-6 AMP “All the ways of a man are clean and innocent in his own eyes [and he may see nothing wrong with his actions], But the Lord weighs and examines the motives and intents [of the heart and knows the truth]. [a]Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. The Lord has made everything for its own purpose, Even the wicked [according to their role] for the day of evil. Everyone who is proud and arrogant in heart is disgusting and exceedingly offensive to the Lord; Be assured he will not go unpunished. By mercy and lovingkindness and truth [not superficial ritual] wickedness is cleansed from the heart, And by the fear of the Lord one avoids evil.” Heed the warnings as no one is promised tomorrow and we have to break the cycle of sin. We must worship God, and God only. LIVE-GIVE JESUS²

  3. 7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

I think politicians have been doing things that go against God for centuries but the one verse that got me was 7 for it was the citizens that sinned and although that is a kingdom in today’s age it is still the people that sinned and elect politicians that don’t do what is right in the eyes of God. I take voting very seriously. For me it is a process of going through their “soapbox” seeing what is their priorities and it may sound a bit sarcastic but picking the less evil for believe me no one ever knows what happens behind close doors. I pray for our leaders even if is not the one I voted for. We have a responsibility to pray for them for God can change anyone into a new creature. I pray for parents to raise righteous children that may rise to be the better leaders of tomorrow. The change begins with me, with you, and with God’s help our children. So bring your babies to church so we can change this world one at a time!!!!

  4. 16. And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

    21. For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord, and made them sin a great sin.

Idolatry will cost you the Kingdom.

  5. 20 And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

The Lord shows us that He is long suffering with our choice to repent. Here we see an allegory of eternal judgement which can and will happen. Sometimes when we have problems it could be due to a testing similar to the trials of Job. Alternatively our difficulties could be from the Lord’s judgment, due to our rebellious beliefs.

  6. 2Kings16: 9 -10 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
    (10) And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree.
Ps.44: 20-21 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god.
    21) Shall not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
God is watching us and he hears and knows everything that we do.
Today Jesus you will save me and all children in Jesus name.

  7. 14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

There are many that will ultimately walk away from the word and commandments of God. Many that will leave God, it will be some that were doing great things for the kingdom but will allow the world to entice them to loosen the doctrine and standards of God. They will be selling themselves out for numbers and the goodness of sin that will cause them to loosen their stance in doctrine. Many are going to be deceived and then in turn will deceive many others. We are living in a time where we have to make a stand for what is right and there can be no grey areas to loosely interpret the word of God. We have to look at it black and white. There can not be any giving in to the enemy and his ways.

It’s time to compel and preach the truth more now than ever. Time is running out for the church to be the refuge and saving place for sinners and saints alike. We have to keep pushing for revival until the trumpet sounds to call the church home. We do not want to be convinced that we are working in vain. Keep holding fast to the promises of God and do not lose hope. We are going to reap the promises.

  8. 41 so these nations feared the lord
And served their graven images both
    Their children and their children’s
Children: as did their fathers so do they unto this
    Day.
    ——-
😟 sad! They heard the word sent by the prophets
God tried to Rea he ti them, but nooo
They did not want to listen.
They were so lost that even their children
    Were affected by their lifestyle…
Sadly many times that’s how it happens
The rebellion spirit takes over and
Causes great damage even to the generations to come.
But the hope of glory is ALIVE
And because of that, there will be hope, and mercy is there too those who choose not to do what their generations
    Behind did 🙏.
    Hallelujah 🙌
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

  9. “Because the Lord was very angry with Israel, he swept them away from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained in the land. But even the people of Judah refused to obey the commands of the Lord their God, for they followed the evil practices that Israel had introduced. The Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel. He punished them by handing them over to their attackers until he had banished Israel from his presence.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:18-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God is a jealous God. When we don’t do what he expects of us there are consequences for us. Israel decided that they wanted to serve other gods. So God drove them out of the land.

  10. “This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. They had followed the practices of the pagan nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of them, as well as the practices the kings of Israel had introduced.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God had warned them in the beginning not to intermarry with the heathen. They had not kept the commandments and ordinances God had given them. They had even rebelled, and wanted an earthly king like the people around them. All of this was showing lack of faith in God.

  11. I love POFW! LIVEJESUSGIVEJESUS2 we have learned and experienced Gods power and expectations. We need to spend our time not worrying about people that have turned away they already know the truth. We need to worry about the ones that dont know truth. The word says it’s up to believers to go out and reach people and tell them about God. This does not mean if we are asked we dont help the backslider. Reading the word will accomplish so much for the believer. Prayer is a must for the believer.

  12. 14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.
15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.

At the end of the day people are going to reject what doesn’t interest their heart and they’re going to do what they want. It almost seems at this point the people of Israel rejected God, not because they didn’t know the consequences or because of any other reason but rather because it was their choice. Their hearts have been turned from God and they refused to follow what was right

  13. 40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Sometimes the only result is a planted seed, and that’s okay. One day, eyes will be opened and truth revealed. In our own fields, one day, they may stumble across a silly bus worker with crazy food hats and candy that compels them to come to church and fall in love with Jesus. One day, that child will be a light to their home and their family.

Never doubt the work you do for His Kingdom. You will be rewarded and one day His Word will come to pass.

  14. And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.
38 And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.
39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

When the Lord gives instruction it’s always for more than one reason. Yes the Lord must be worshipped and glorified, but when we set our eyes on Him and not the things of this world it keeps us from a lot of things that could destroy us.

  15. 2Kings 17. Message

14-15 But they wouldn’t listen. If anything, they were even more bullheaded than their stubborn ancestors, if that’s possible. They were contemptuous of his instructions, the solemn and holy covenant he had made with their ancestors, and of his repeated reminders and warnings. They lived a “nothing” life and became “nothings”—just like the pagan peoples all around them. They were well-warned: God said, “Don’t!” but they did it anyway.

16-17 They threw out everything God, their God, had told them, and replaced him with two statue-gods shaped like bull-calves and then a phallic pole for the whore goddess Asherah. They worshiped cosmic forces—sky gods and goddesses—and frequented the sex-and-religion shrines of Baal. They even sank so low as to offer their own sons and daughters as sacrificial burnt offerings! They indulged in all the black arts of magic and sorcery. In short, they prostituted themselves to every kind of evil available to them. And God had had enough.

We live in these times that seems nothing is sacred anymore . As I read these chapters about how Israel had turned their back on God without any regard to what they had been taught about worship . To become so entangled with the sins of this world is terrifying. To lose all regards to the live that Jesus Christ has extended . To those bound by any addiction whatever it is …from pornography to drugs, to alcohol , gambling , relationship and even just mere non sinful actions we cannot allow idols into our lives . Israel set up graven images to worship . They became so wrapped up in this type of worship they had no regard to their own families . Their children thrown into the fire, sacrificing them to false gods. They would not heed any instructions. I see our world today doing the same . Self indulgence, without any regard to others involved in their life . I pray that our nation and that our families will return to the true living God. God help us ! God help our nation . We must take a stand for what is Godly! We must be sensitive to the hurting but we cannot condone the sins they are bodily portraying . Guard each of us that we may reflect You Jesus and keep You first in our life so that we will not get entangled with the sinful ways of this world . In Jesus name .

  16. 34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lordcommanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

It is one of The Ten Commandments that we must keep that the Lord is God and we shalt not have any other gods. We must keep the laws of God and worship him only.

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

  17. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

Well, well, well… Lookie what we got here buckaroos 😂. I never seen this before, but it just hollered, kicked, and screamed at me today. This here pagan king of Assyria thought it to be a conspiracy when Hoshea (King of Israel) didn’t bring him a present. WOW! Y’all reckon King Jesus considers us traitors when we don’t bring Him presents…

  18. ‭‭II Kings‬ ‭17:14-15, NKJV “Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the Lord their God. And they rejected His statutes and His covenant that He had made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He had testified against them; they followed idols, became idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them that they should not do like them.

Israel’s disobedience and willful rebellion of God’s Word lead to their eventual downfall. They wanted to live their life their way. They chose to ignore the way of the Lord. God gave us free will. We can choose to live for Him or against Him. All in with Jesus or all out. You can’t have it both ways. There is no other god before or equal to GOD.

  19. The people did what they wanted and followed their own hearts and not God’s. It is no wonder that God gives us a new heart when we receive the Holy Ghost!
    Ezekial 36:26
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
Now we must keep a heart after God’s will and serve him alone.

  20. 2 Kings 17:13-14 Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. Notwithstanding they would not hear but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

Jeremiah 18:11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, thus saith the Lord; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now everyone from his evil way, and make your ways and you’re doings good.

Proverbs 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

God warns throughout the Bible to do good and the same today but people are not heeding the warnings.

  21. “But they didn’t pay any attention. They kept doing what they’d always done. As it turned out, all the time these people were putting on a front of worshiping God, they were at the same time involved with their local idols. And they’re still doing it. Like father, like son.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:40-41‬ ‭MSG

Here you see the continual mercy and love of GOD reaching for a people to follow and live in obedience to Him. Again they rejected His call on their lives. Pretty much these are the days we are currently living in. It is sad that many don’t see the times we are seeing, playing with sin thinking they may have all the time that is needed to come back to the LORD JESUS. But, do they? Does anyone? ‘The Penalty Of Miscalculation’ can and will affect all spiritually!

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭KJV

  22. How sad it is when people refuse to heed the warnings of God spoken by the prophets. Israel’s sad end is a an example of the seriousness of ignoring Gods mercy and taking him for granted. Dear Jesus, help me to love you and serve you with all my heart.

  23. 2 Kings 17:36,38-39
[36]But worship only the lord, who brought you out of Egypt with great strength and a powerful arm. Bow down to him alone, and offer sacrifices only to him.
[38]Do not forget the covenant I made with you, and do not worship other gods.
[39]You must worship only the lord your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.”

The Lord is merciful. He rescues us from the pits we get ourselves into. We are in covenant with the Lord and if we keep his commandments we will be blessed..

  24. “”Do not forget the covenant I made with you. And remember, you must not worship other gods. Instead, worship me. I will save you from the powerful hand of all of your enemies. I am the Lord your God.” But the people wouldn’t listen. Instead, they were stubborn. They continued in their old practices. They worshiped the Lord. But at the same time, they served the statues of their gods. And to this very day their children and grandchildren continue to do what their people before them did.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:38-41‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

They worshiped the Lord but they still SERVED their statues. Served in the Hebrew means to work, to serve, enslave or in bondage. We must break the chains of bondage to worship in Spirit and in Truth.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden IIshtar”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  25. 25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

When we are headed in the worn direction we just need a little push to straight again.

  26. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
IS GODS PROMISE ENOUGH TO KEEP YOU

39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Looking back on this record in the WORD of GOD it seems simple to me. LIVE JESUS and Live Blessed, Protected and Peaceful.

    BUT they disobeyed.

This common frail failure of man still exists today. People come out of sin only to reform and backslide to prior idols and idolatry.

The most challenging revelation here is that children follow their parents in general. When we see our children act a certain way or struggle with a particular temptation, to is generally the result of some weakness in our lives.

Mom and dad, grandparents, aunt and uncle, remember our actions influence our children and grandchildren.

I choose to LIVE JESUS so that I am positioned to GIVE JESUS to my children and grandchildren.

  27. The Canaanites sins (17: 16-17)
The writer is fully aware that the sins he list here are the very sins for which God expelled the original Canaanites from the Promised Land.
The fact that God chose and redeemed the Hebrew people makes their sins even more terrible . We who are called by Gods name have no excuse when we choose to live as pagans do.

  28. 2 Kings 17:33, “They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.”

WOW! Sounds like people today. Living for JESUS on Sunday, and doing their own thing (serving their own gods) the rest of the week.
“My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”
God is the One who brought us up (saved and rescued us) out of this world (Egypt). He’s the One True Living God, and only Him shalt we serve. We are to fear Him, worship Him, sacrifice to Him, keep His statues, His ordinances, His law, and His commands.
We are to LIVE JESUS – GIVE JESUS EVERYDAY of the week!

  29. 41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

They tried to compromise – fearing God but worshipping their Heaven images also.

No man can serve two masters. The one you feed the most will be the strongest and eventually rule.

  30. 7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

Israel did what they wanted even though they knew it was wrong. Much as some of us do today. We pay no regard to the scriptures or the consequences of our actions. May we repent and follow God’s word before it’s to late.

  31. 35 With whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

36 But the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

  32. 38 And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

  33. 13Again and again the LORD had sent his prophets and seers to warn both Israel and Judah: “Turn from all your evil ways. Obey my commands and decrees—the entire law that I commanded your ancestors to obey, and that I gave you through my servants the prophets.”

14But the Israelites would not listen. They were as stubborn as their ancestors who had refused to believe in the LORD their God.

The old term applies here, “stubborn as a mule”. People can hear words, but will not process those words. Once they listen and pay attention to what is being said, and how it actually affects them, they will start to be obedient. It may take days, weeks or months, but eventually the Word of God will penetrate through, and get their attention. We just have to keep preaching the Word to them.

  34. “Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments and My statutes, in accordance with all the Law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.” However they did not listen, but stiffened their necks as did their fathers who did not believe (trust in, rely on, remain steadfast to) the Lord their God.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:13-14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

God is a god of second third fourth fifth and sixth chances. He gives us so many chances to do right but most of the time we choose to do it our way. Doing it our way will never get us anywhere. This scripture to me proves how much god loves us. He is crying out to them telling them to turn from their wicked ways but they didn’t listen to his voice. I pray that we listen to the voice of god even when we don’t feel like it. We must trust the lord god because he will not lead us ever in the wrong direction.

  35. “So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:41‬ ‭NLT‬‬

““No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  36. 6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

    22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

This says a lot about God he is a jealous God .Which is why it is important not to put idols above him. This kind of act can cause you lose blessings from him.

  37. 7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kingsd of Israel, which they had made.

9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city,

10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

There is an old song that Frank Sinatra sang, “I did it my way!” Hmmm…. this is what people do now. We need to do things, God’s way!

“He who trust in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.” Proverbs 28:26

  38. “So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:41‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As leaders of the Church, as children of the Lord we need to double check if we’re leaving the right path for those looking up to us, those trusting us to guide them unto the Lord. Wether we know it or not each of us have at least one person that looks up to us as an influence. I pray tonight that we check where our heart and mind is at. Is it in the word of the Lord? Let us grow more in God and obey and teach the word of God, reach out to the lost and tell them there is only one true God.

  39. 12 For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

Idols are not of God and should never have our attention. We should turn away from everything that is not of God. I pray tonight that you keep your full focus and attention on Him!

  40. 9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

The children of Isreals secret sins became so bold that they built high places from the watchmen (the man of God the pastor is the whatchman on the wall) to the fences city (the boundaries set in place by God and leadership for protection. They reblled against God and leadership.

Let us not be found guilty of going against God in such manner that we become so boldly sinful and carnal to over step authority and put ourselves over re man of God and leadership. Lord. Teach me to stay in my purpose and place.

One of the greatest things God is currently teaching me is to be in purpose. Any and everything that will distract from purpose must be let go. When everyone is in their rightful place and working together in purpose we will see advancement will come much smoother.

  41. “So while these new residents worshiped the Lord, they also worshiped their idols. And to this day their descendants do the same.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:41‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If worshiping idols is all you’ve ever known then we have failed as Christian believers to seek and save those who are lost. So many people all they’ve ever known is worshiping idols and false gods. We serve the God who’s alive and well and that could deliver them from the very put of hell they’re headed to. How selfish we are to hold back the gospel from those who are truly lost

  42. 11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger:

The church should not do or look like the world.
We the church are called to be separate from the world set apart from sin. The people provoked the Lord to anger we have to make sure we are living a life of holiness and not providing Him to anger

  43. 35 With whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

36 But the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice

May we always remember the God who is the light in our darkness, made us sing in the valley and kept us safe in the storm and not allow anything to come before him and his commandments.

  44. “And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I do not want to be out of the sight of the Lord!

All of Israel rejected God and what did God do? Have them chance after chance, mercy after mercy. Yes, they paid for their actions and we’re captive at times but God still made a way for His people. Here we see God say that He has removed Israel from His sight and rejected them. When we continuously reject God and His Word, He will stop talking. He will lift His hand off of our lives and we will experience a life in which God’s presence has been removed. All because we chose to sacrifice on our own altar instead of His.

  45. 27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

So the king got someone to do what he wanted. Sounds like today, when people are told “no”, they just keep looking until they find a “yes”.

  46. 13 Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

God will give warning to his people. So, it is important that we heed to that warning. Don’t ignore what God is trying to tell you. He is giving the warning so that you don’t meet destruction. God loves his people and he wants to see us do right. However, it is up to us to make the right decision and do what God’s word tells us to do.

  47. “This disaster came upon the people of Israel 4because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Was sins Worth it? The wrath of the Lord will come to pass. Save your soul and Secure your salvation. Spread Jesus and live Jesus.

  48. 39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

If you trust and follow the Lord He will guide you and will guide you through your trials and deliver you from your enemies.

  49. 41 So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

May His favor be upon you
    And a thousand generations
    Your family and your children
And their children, and their children.

It’s up to us to teach our children to fear the Lord, for the next generation to come, we won’t stop ‘til the whole world knows!

  50. “Do not forget the covenant I made with you, and do not worship other gods.”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭17:38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We cannot forget God’s commandments for His word leads us to righteous path, and to sin is the transgression of the law. There’s no other name that can save but Jesus He is the great I Am, the everlasting Father, and is the name above every other name.

  51. 13 Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

How many times do we encounter the same scenario? What do I mean by that? Well How many times does the man of God not get up there to share what this saith the Lord through every preaching and yet still some think it’s not for them. Week after week for several times the Lord reaching out for his people yet some still choose not to listen. They probably say well that’s not for me. Or I didn’t get fed today. I didn’t listen to what I needed from the Lord. Yet the truth of the matter is that you didn’t listen at all. The Lord is concerned about your spiritual life and some still don’t respond. They don’t belive God. They don’t belive that God is talking through the preached word, through his vessel. I’ve heard it almost as if it was this same scripture; prophet after prophet, evangelist, preacher, man of God all have come reaching out to God’s people saying the same message. It’s time to come back to church. It’s time to come back to the house of God. And yet sadly still some have not stepped foot at the house of the Lord. Ma’am, Sir, the Lord is sending his prophets, and Seers to reach out and tell us what this saith the Lord. Will we belive?

That also goes along with every other message preached to the church, like repentance, repairing your altar, keeping the fire burning… it’s God reaching out for his people. May we be receptive and respond to every word that is being delivered to us. May we belive God as he speaks to us.

  52. iLove to blog the extra mile
Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished.

Wow, the arrogant is an abomination to the Lord. That is deep. God isn’t putting up with pride. We as humans laugh and play around with pride but God is serious and the proud will be punished

  53. “They feared the Lord but also served their idols. Still today, their children and grandchildren continue doing as their fathers did.” (2 Kings ch. 17:41). This really touched me because everything we do effects future generations. Pastor Watts preached today about how we are doing just like the Israelites did by not fearing God and remembering show He brought them out of Jerusalem and made a covenant with Jacob’s descendants. They didn’t follow God’s commands and He finally removed Hos presence from them. Pastor spoke about how we today can be doing the same by altering God’s altar by placing worldly things higher than the Lord. The new settlers that took over the land after the Israelites feared the Lord but they still worshiped other gods. “They feared the Lord, but they also worshiped their own gods according to the practice of the nations from which they had been deported.” (2 Kings ch.17:33). I feel like this is how many of the so called Christian’s of today’s times are. It’s cute to say we love God and celebrate Christmas once a year but to actually walk in a more Godly life than worldly? Apparently that is way too much to ask for these days…

  54. 26 Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

A good war lord is going to get all the intel he can before he sends his men into battle. He will spy out who is really in charge before he even makes a plan. The Plan is always to get the head of the army. We must know what we are dealing with when we fight. We must spy it out in prayer and overcome it with the sword I’d god

  55. 2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

How is my life before The LORD….
and should I compare my mistakes and sin to my ancestors?
No, I think not, because there is no sin greater than another!!!

    Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

  56. 9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

Nothing is hidden from Gods eyes. We can deceive our family and spouse and even our leaders but we can never deceive God.

Nothing is done on secret. No matter how much you try to hide behind any fortification, let God

Don’t forget where you are when shod saved you.
