Isaiah 36

Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.

And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field.

Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah’s son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph’s son, the recorder.

And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

10 And am I now come up without the Lord against this land to destroy it? the Lord said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.

14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.

15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;

17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the Lord will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

20 Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

22 Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

    Isaiah 31:1
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD

If we just trust in the Lord despite what things might look like sometimes we will always win in the end. God let us put our trust in the one that never fails us, because you have all power in heaven and earth.

Sometimes we will see the body of believers (the Church) falling by the way side. We must trust in the Lord and His enduring Word, regardless of what appears to be the pervailing faith in our culture. The Lord our Savior is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and our faith must endure to the end.

  6. 6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

Trust in the Lord your God, in him only men would always disappoint you.

  8. 20. What god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? So what makes you think that the LORD can rescue Jerusalem from me?” NLT

Because their gods are not like our God! We worship the one, true, living God who is strong and mighty!

    Psalm 24:8
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. KJV

  9. 18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the Lord will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
19 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

Without God people are quick to trust in themselves and trust in what their ability can do, because that’s all they have so they are quick to dismiss people’s faith when someone relies on that. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had people mock me for having faith in God because they trusted in what they were able to do and it was usually because they were in misery and could not comprehend having a force or faith that was outside their own hands. This is why our faith is so important to us to hold on to and not allow the flashed overtake us when tempted and not to be discouraged because it’s not understood. Our job as Christians to is to hold fast to the Faith of Christ

  10. Isaiah 36:21 [ amp] Hold your peace
But they kept still and answered him not a word, for the king’s command was , Do not answer him.
Prov.. 17 : 27-28 ( Amp) He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding has a cool spirit.
    (28) Even a fool when he holds his peace is considered wise; when he closes lips he is esteemed a man of understanding.
Don’t let yourself get angry, Be quick to hear, a ready listener) slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry.
Sometimes it hard, But pray about and take to the Lord.
    Thank you Jesus.

  11. 4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

It seems very funny when the enemy will rise up against a child of God whose faith is strong in the Lord. Just like the scripture here Hezekiah was faced with an enemy questioning his faith and his allegiance. Can I tell you that the enemy will try your spirit and your commitment to what you stand for, they will try to see if you will bend or bow from the doctrine of God to cause you to fall from the grace of God because of doubt and fear. I say to you the stronger your faith is in God the more you will have God battle the enemy for you. Remember we have a savior that died for each of us and gave his all when he didn’t have to. Don’t let the enemy build altars in your life because they will try to get you to leave your own altar. Remember God is a jealous God and there shall not be any other god before Him. We have to love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul. Don’t let the enemy taunt you about your past, you can taunt them about their future. Remember the church wins in the end.

  12. Isaiah 36
There were many thoughts that went through my mind as I read this chapter.
(vs. 6) First, Who are you Leaning On? The world (Egypt)? We should be leaning on God at ALL times.
(vs. 10) Second, Be careful when someone comes up to you and says, “the LORD said unto me… – the LORD told me…” How many times has Pastor warned us of this?
(vs. 14-16) Third, Listen to Pastor who tells us to Put your TRUST in God, for God is the only One who can deliver and save you.
(vs. 16-20) Next, Don’t make an agreement with the devil. (too many people have lost out with God because of this). He may try to convince you that he’s got better things for you, but he doesn’t. He may try to make himself look big or good, but there is only ONE God, and JESUS is His Name!!
(vs. 21) Last, Sometimes you don’t have to say anything at all. Just hold your peace, and don’t answer. Stand Still and See the Salvation of God at Work!

    Thank You JESUS!!
YOU are the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD! I Lean On and Trust in YOU, for YOU are the only ONE who can deliver and save us. I will Stand Still and See YOUR Salvation at Work!!

  13. 5 I sayest thou ( but they are but vain words)
I have council and strength for war: now on whom thou
Doors trust that thou rebellest against me?
    ——-
Ok, sometimes it’s better to to stay quiet and don’t give in to any saying..
But sometimes it’s ok to just say a little something
    Without getting into much detail..
    I sayest thou ….
I say that what you are saying it’s a bunch of ……
And I say that, it’s just your opinion!
And you asking me in whom I have put my trust????
Al right; my trust is in the Lord, the God almighty
The creator of heaven and earth.
With that said, there is nothing else to say.
    Hallelujah .
    Our trust is JESUS, amen.

  14. ““Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’ Have the gods of any nations ever delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? Who of all the gods of these countries have been able to save their lands from me? How then can the Lord deliver Jerusalem from my hand?””
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:18-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

There is no one like our God. Only he can deliver. He can rescue form anything. He can make a way when there is no way!

  15. 6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

The people of this world are watching us, and they know if we are faithful and are serving Jesus or not.

  16. I love POFW! LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS! IN OUR READING today we see a god of nothing trying to gain control. When one was praying to him he gained nothing. Some people pray to statues and to false leaders. My God is a god of answers and help. He forgives and forgets. He delivers us from danger and removes our shackles of bondage. Results are what my God shows!

  17. “This is what the king says: Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you. He will never be able to rescue you. Don’t let him fool you into trusting in the Lord by saying, ‘The Lord will surely rescue us. This city will never fall into the hands of the Assyrian king!’ “Don’t listen to Hezekiah! These are the terms the king of Assyria is offering: Make peace with me—open the gates and come out. Then each of you can continue eating from your own grapevine and fig tree and drinking from your own well.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:14-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Careful who you’re influenced by or what you’re influenced by. All it takes is a few persuasive words to gain someone’s trust and confidence. The next thing you know they’re telling you not to listen to the righteous men and women in your life. They start telling you to avoid your pastor or to avoid your priest and they may say Exactly what this man said, that “Hezekiah is trying to deceive you” but you and I both know that’s a lie because of the history of Hezekiah. Careful letting sheep’s in wolves clothing tried to persuade you away from the truth.
Keep your spirit right and be sensitive to those red flags that may come up.

  18. 20 Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?.

Rabshakeh did not know my GOD!!!
He thought he could play gossip games with accusations and everything would be fine!!! My GOD IS NOT OF CONFUSION!!! He confused my GOD with all those little gods!!!!

  19. 16 NLT ““Don’t listen to Hezekiah! These are the terms the king of Assyria is offering: Make peace with me—open the gates and come out. Then each of you can continue eating from your own grapevine and fig tree and drinking from your own well.
20 NLT What god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? So what makes you think that the Lord can rescue Jerusalem from me?””

Don’t let yourself be persuaded to go against what you know is right. Trust in the Lord. There isn’t a situation He can’t deliver you from. He has no rival or equal. He is the Lord God Almighty!!

  20. Isaiah 36:18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The Lord will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Psalm 12:4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail ; our lips are our own: who is Lord over us?

Psalm 96:4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

    Trust only in Jesus!!

  21. Isaiah 36
Don’t listen to Hezekiah’s lies. He can’t save you. And don’t pay any attention to Hezekiah’s pious sermons telling you to lean on God, telling you ‘God will save us, depend on it. God won’t let this city fall to the king of Assyria.’

16-20 “Don’t listen to Hezekiah. Listen to the king of Assyria’s offer: ‘Make peace with me. Come and join me. Everyone will end up with a good life, with plenty of land and water, and eventually something far better. I’ll turn you loose in wide open spaces, with more than enough fertile and productive land for everyone.’ Don’t let Hezekiah mislead you with his lies, ‘God will save us.’ Has that ever happened?

.There will be leaders arise who will begin proclaiming their way is the best way. Promises are going to be made of peace and prosperity. We must truly hold on to the promises of God and not allow anything nor anyone sway us . Hezekiah was being used by God a d opposition rose up against. I read that Hezekiah was known for a strong prayer life and his name actually means “God has strengthened “. I believe we too can say we carry a name the name of Jesus which truly is God has strengthened. Yes opposition is here but we have a God who has strengthened and will continue to strengthen us. Don’t take the world’s offer stay in the Lord’s side.

Matthew 24:24 – For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

  22. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
The pride and arrogance of this pagan King is to be expected. The Assyrians were unstoppable. No one stood a chance against these brutal people…no one except God’s chosen people. No matter what the odds, God’s people always have a chance.

  23. The Living Bible
    vs-11
Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to him Please talk to us in Aramaic for we understand it quite well. Dont speak in Hebrew for the people on the wall will hear.
    Aramaic
Aramaic was the trade and diplomatic language of the ancient Middle East. While related to Heb it is a different tongue. Later the Jews who were transported to Babylon adopted Aramaic. When their descendants returned to Judah two generations later that community spoke Aramaic.

  24. 16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

Rabshakeh’s promise of peace and security ends with “until I come and take you away”! That’s the catch. The enemy offers gain for the flesh but in reality it ends with being snared or captured by him. We cannot operate by sight, but by faith in God and his word. No matter whether we gain or lose we must be saved! We can’t cave in to the pressures or tactics of satan or we lose out with God. Be strong in the power of His might: “when the enemy comes in like a flood,
the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19 He will fight our battles when we give it to him.

  25. pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

If you trust in the lord and praise him, unlike the rulers of this world such as the pharaoh. He will not betray that trust and faith you have on him. Where as the leaders of this world would essentially hurt you without any remorse.

  26. “On Egypt? If you lean on Egypt, it will be like a reed that splinters beneath your weight and pierces your hand. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, is completely unreliable!”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The enemy is unreliable, untrustworthy, and wicked depending on what your enemy is. Don’t trust into sin but in God because he is the one true living, loving, winning God.

  27. 15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

The voice of the enemy may seem like they are popular or have authority you may feel like his voice and opinion is what you need in your life. But oh no that is absolutely wrong!

Be careful who you take heed to, people are gonna spew tons of opinions in your life which you can ignore! It only goes south when you grasp onto the word.

  28. 21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

  29. Do you think that mere words can substitute for military skill and strength? Who are you counting on, that you have rebelled against me?
    Isaiah 36:5 NLT

Answer: I believe The Word of God can absolutely do that and much more. God’s promises are yea and amen. Regardless of who the man of God is, God Himself can and will, keep us.

Stay close to the man of God and stay close to God in prayer and in Word. Let no man deceive you and lead you away from either because both will lead us in His perfect will and His will, will always be the safest place to be.

  30. Isaiah 36:7
“But perhaps you will say to me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God!’ But isn’t he the one who was insulted by Hezekiah? Didn’t Hezekiah tear down his shrines and altars and make everyone in Judah and Jerusalem worship only at the altar here in Jerusalem?

    Trust in the Lord

  31. Hezekiah had already given instruction to the people what to do when the spirit of deception showed its ugly head via the men of Assyria and their king. The people had confidence in Hezekiah because he had removed the gods that his forefathers had allowed and restored the altars of the Lord and relationship with the Lord and the Israelite people.

People don’t always listen when instruction from the man of God comes, but if we will be patient and do as we are instructed, God will be on our side. Obedience is better than sacrifice. We might have our own plans, want things our own way, but if will follow the steps of obedience, the Lord will work on our behalf and will bring to us what we have need of.

The steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord, so follow His path, His plan, His way and we will be victorious!

  32. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
YOU CANT TRUST IN A GOD YOU DONT WORSHIP

7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

RELATIONSHIP is the KEY to VICTORY. People often lose HOPE when things don’t turn out the way anticipated. During times of loss, pain and rejection we often find ourselves searching for help or support. We witness this here in this passage. The people of GOD are in trouble, but because they chose not to worship GOD but turned to idols, their relationship is broken and lives are in turmoil and future is in shambles.

This is what happens when we chose to forsake the worship of GOD, when there is no ALTAR in our life, no PRAISE on our lips, no SERVING in our hands. Then we have no RELATIONSHIP to call on the GOD who is ABLE to deliver us.

SOW WISELY in our WORSHIP, don’t give things more time than we give JESUS. Don’t tear down the ALTAR of the LORD for the altar of self, entertainment or acceptance. Only to end up in a bad situation without the support of the GOD who is ABLE.

No matter how your day is going, how hard your trials are, trust in the Lord, He will provide!

  34. 14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.

-We need to put our trust in God before we do something on our own, consult with God about things in your life, He is there when you need Him and always listens.

  35. 17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

His return is coming so we must prepare ourselves and be ready! We as His children must always be preparing ourselves for his return. We must do as told and follow His word for guidance. I pray tonight that you are preparing your heart, mind, soul, and spirit for this day for it is coming when we least know it!

  36. ““But perhaps you will say to me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God!’ But isn’t he the one who was insulted by Hezekiah? Didn’t Hezekiah tear down his shrines and altars and make everyone in Judah and Jerusalem worship only at the altar here in Jerusalem?”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Lord does things in many different ways, and some we may never understand why he does it. But let us remember God only does good and what is needed. I pray that we never doubt the Lord, for he does everything for a purpose and after it all we rise in victory. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, his word can’t fail, and his word wont fail.

  37. In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, King Sennacherib of Assyria came to attack the fortified towns of Judah and conquered them. Then the king of Assyria sent his chief of staff from Lachish with a huge army to confront King Hezekiah in Jerusalem. The Assyrians took up a position beside the aqueduct that feeds water into the upper pool, near the road leading to the field where cloth is washed. These are the officials who went out to meet with them: Eliakim son of Hilkiah, the palace administrator; Shebna the court secretary; and Joah son of Asaph, the royal historian.

  38. “Do you think that mere words can substitute for military skill and strength? Who are you counting on…” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Words and actions are What build your reputation. What you do when no one is looking is what speaks your character.

I pray our words, actions, and characters all speak the same thing JESUS.

  39. ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36

15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Have we not all been not challenged in this way? It seems that we have been challenged many times. Such as your God will not heal you. Don’t pay your tithing but pay the the bills first.

In the first example we hear the the taunting words and doubt inters in. Doubt tests your faith. or the disease temps your faith. Ether way you are being challenged. Let us look at the words trust in the Lord.

Psalm 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

Psalm 115:11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Let us not doubt for doubt becomes the breaks to faith.

Let us look at the next example concerning tithing.

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Testimony’s There is a God given principal we must learn. Malachi 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

This is true I wanted to see my Great grandchildren near Beaumont, Texas and see my baby daughter in Houston. I needed money. A friend of mine called me and asked me if he could come to my house. Of course I said because he is a friend. When he arrived he gave me $140 in cash and I thanked him and said why I needed it. He then gave me 100 more. I used 100 for gas and food and when I got home I used $125 for new car insurance. The Lord is my provider. I praise his name. He was not told that I was buying Car insurance.

  40. We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

We got to trust in God In the good the bad and the ugly.when things turn south we have to trust in the lord we often get to tired of waiting on the lord but we have to trust him cause his timing is perfect and setting you up for your come up and you will stronger and wiser then before!

  41. 7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

we should always trust in the lord with all our hearts because we know that his word can’t fail and never will fail. we need to put our trust in HIM!!!

  42. “Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Voices everywhere you turn to. Someone or something is yelling at you try to get your attention to distract you. To kill, steal, and destroy your purpose in life. Be wise, have a spirit of discernment. Be led by the Spirit of GOD and not by your flesh. Don’t turn to the left or the right, keep your eye on JESUS. HE is the way, truth and the life. When doubt, fear, and trouble comes your way…TRUST IN HIM AT ALL TIMES!!!

  43. We must be very careful to whom we give our attention to and why. We must let the Lord guide our every step and protect what the Lord has given us. Heed the words of the Lord and the authority figure he has placed in your life.

  44. “Then the Rabshekah stood up and called out loudly in Hebrew, the common language, “Listen to the message of the great king, the king of Assyria! Don’t listen to Hezekiah’s lies. He can’t save you. And don’t pay any attention to Hezekiah’s pious sermons telling you to lean on God, telling you ‘God will save us, depend on it. God won’t let this city fall to the king of Assyria.’”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:13-15‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This Scripture means that, God will Deliver Us from any Situation and Bring Us Back on Serving Him

  45. ““Don’t let Hezekiah mislead you by saying, ‘The Lord will rescue us!’ Have the gods of any other nations ever saved their people from the king of Assyria?”
    Isaiah 36:18 NLT

The king of Assyria departed from God and lead the nation into unbelief that God can do all things. In all your ways acknowledge the Lord and He will delight your steps. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you, and don’t allow yourself to be darkened nor let your heart become harden from God. Don’t let the man deceive you that there’s no power on the God we serve. That’s a lie! We serve the true Living God!

  46. “How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we truly trust in the lord then why do we turn away from him when we get afraid. He is the king of kings and lord of lords. We have no reason to fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind. We put our trust in the things of this world and have more faith in those things than the faith in one who made the heavens and the earth.

  47. 18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the Lord will deliver us.

Surely one of the enemy’s great tactics is intimidation. And yes some things that may have happened he will use to impose fear on you. Did this bad thing not happen? How about when you prayed for this and this other bad thing happened. Don’t be fooled by the voice of the enemy and do not engage in conversation with him. Do exactly as they did here. And answer him not. Perhaps some of those bad things did happen. Yet our God is not like the gods of the people. Here in lies faith. Literally the enemy trying to persuade your mind against what the Lord can do for you. When that happens stand firm. Don’t engage with the enemy. Don’t look at the conflict or problem. But start thanking and magnifying God. Exalt him. He is bigger and greater. Praise him for all victories come from him. And do remember how many other times has he not delivered or provided and protected you. And stand firm on your faith. Don’t stand idle rather move to prayer and praise.

  48. ““Don’t let Hezekiah mislead you by saying, ‘The Lord will rescue us!’ Have the gods of any other nations ever saved their people from the king of Assyria?”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

My strong tower, my firm foundation, my solid rock. There will always situations that arise that try to uproot or misguide us by taking our eyes off of the Word. The Word is my strong tower. The Word is my firm foundation. The Word is my solid rock. Focus on the Word and we shall be as a tree planted by the waters.

  49. ““Don’t listen to Hezekiah! These are the terms the king of Assyria is offering: Make peace with me—open the gates and come out. Then each of you can continue eating from your own grapevine and fig tree and drinking from your own well.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

These are the words we hear in today’s society. Lies from the enemy of our soul. He wants to plant doubt and confusion in our minds against God. Let us not listen nor partake on what he “offers” for it leads to death and lost of our eternal salvation. Stay firm and quiet for God will fight out battles and we WILL be victorious!

  50. 13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

It’s sad to see someone standing up to the children of Israel and saying loudly to not listen to the voice of a persuader and the Lord. “. . . Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
. . . The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered.”

18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the Lord will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

And then to go a step further, he says when have we even been delivered by the gods. “. . . Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king. . .” You haven’t seen anyone delivered, because your “gods” are not our GOD!! Don’t be swayed by the naysayers, the false prophets, or the nonbelievers. Our God is great and able! Abundant and above all! Omnipotent and Mighty!! We should rather instead be the loud ones proclaiming the opposite.

  51. 14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.

It is just like the enemy to preach half truths and think it’s ok. You are absolutely correct Hezekiah can’t save you but the one he serves can. Let us not be so caught up in the lies of the enemy that we forget what God can do.

  52. 14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.

Others will be against you when you are on the Lord side. As long as we stand with God, we will not be defeated. He is our strength and our shield. There is no God like our God. The one who made the heaven and the earth. He truly is a great God.

  53. “Then the Assyrian king’s chief of staff told them to give this message to Hezekiah: “This is what the great king of Assyria says: What are you trusting in that makes you so confident?”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are trusting in Jesus which makes us confident.
Trust in the lord with all thine heart his word can’t fail his word won’t fail.

    JESUS LOVES YOU!!!

  54. 5 I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

Trust in the lord and never rebel and never goes against his will.

  55. “What god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? So what makes you think that the Lord can rescue Jerusalem from me?””
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭36:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬
We know that pride leadeth before a fall. Arrogance is a pathway of distraction. He knows what he’s saying. He thinks he’s above God. But we’ll see in the end
