Isaiah 39

At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.

And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:

Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

  1. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

Solomon warns that gifts / bribes sway decisions. Often bribes open us to “bad news” / “tough lessons learned.

Loose lips sink ships. Pride comes before the fall.

When we allow pride into our lives, we place ourselves in alignment with satan. Pride is what got him kicked from heaven. Pride is the original sin.

  2. 5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:

6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

The church needs to heed the word of the prophet Isaiah here as he spoke to Hezekiah. For the enemy will befriend you and see all that you have only to take away from you what the Lord has blessed you with. The old saying “a wolf in sheep’s clothing” is something I never truly understood until now. There are many that will say they are your friends and then when you let them in close, they will take from you your treasures that God has given. The scripture states it very clearly do not put confidence in man but put all your trust in the Lord. It’s time to awake out of the slumber and keep a vigilant watch on those that are in your circle and on the enemy that is going to try to come into your home or life.

Remember the enemy will try to take everything they can.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Let’s keep pushing the gospel and the kingdom of God until the trumpet sounds.

  3. Such a short chapter; but, full of words to heed. Many will befriend only to see what they can get from you or just to destroy what you have. We must protect, love and guard what the Lord has given you.

This chapter also shows as Pastor blogged about yesterday as to how we respond to bad news. The position we take or the attitude in which we receive it can determine the outcome. We must take everthing to the altar and pray for divine direction.

  4. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

Just because God blesses you with something doesn’t mean it’s for everybody to see, especially your enemy. As we learn later on in this chapter, Hezekiah paid dearly for showing all of the things that he had been blessed with.

  5. 6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

Every good thing comes from the Lord. When prosperous people neglect the Lord there will be a time of reckoning. It is the Lord that giveth and taketh away. Therefore personal pride and unholy alliances can cause the Lord to let a person’s success become nought; when health, debt, and or business downturns cause the success to be reversed.

  6. 4. Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

Not everything that God gives you is for display.
Your personal life and walk with God is called that for a reason – it’s personal, private, and not everyone’s business; especially on social media where the predators have such easy access to details that you casually posted for all to see that may leave you vulnerable.

    P.S.
The same applies to your physical body – It’s not for display; cover it up!

4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

Strangers came from a far country and the king felt led to show them ALL that he had possession of. Key word here is “my” treasures. It seems odd to me that this king would bring total strangers into his inner court just to “show off” all that he had in his house. For what reason? The most logical is to “show off” all that he had. This is the EVIDENCE OF PRIDE.

The PROOF OF PRIDE shows up in verses 7 – 8:

7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days

All of your children will be captive and your linage will end was the prophesy and the king said GOOD.?!?!?!?

Why would you be ok with your children being captive and never have a family? The answer is in verse 8. As long as it doesn’t happen to me. PROOF of PRIDE. PRIDE is only concerned with self. We learn from the WORD of GOD how to remain humble.

James and Peter both wrote in their epistle to the church:

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

1Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

JESUS help me travel the humble road and protect the lives of our children.

  8. Isaiah 39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

I Samuel 3:18 And Samuel told him everywhit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, it is the LORD: Let him do what seemeth him good.

I Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

God is Good and All the time God is good!!

  9. Isaiah 39:2,6
[2]Hezekiah was delighted with the Babylonian envoys and showed them everything in his treasure-houses—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the aromatic oils. He also took them to see his armory and showed them everything in his royal treasuries! There was nothing in his palace or kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.
[6]‘The time is coming when everything in your palace—all the treasures stored up by your ancestors until now—will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the lord.

    Matthew 6:19-21
[19]“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.
[20]Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
[21]Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

The people of Jesus should treasure Jesus. God desires our devotion. Stop focusing on accumulating money and things and set your heart pursuing “treasures in heaven. storing up “treasures in heaven” does include giving to your local church, nonprofits, and to those in need. But that’s not all. There’s more to laying up “treasures in heaven” than giving away our money and possessions. It also includes living for God’s glory and the good of others.

  10. 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
Hezekiah was not concerned about anyone or anything but himself. He showed all his treasures trusting in his possessions for future security rather than praising God for what he has in the present. He was satisfied as long as there was peace and truth in his days.

  11. Isaiah 39
Hezekiah said, “They came from a long way off, from Babylon.”

4 “And what did they see in your palace?”

“Everything,” said Hezekiah. “I showed them the works, opened all the doors and impressed them with it all.”

    And Impressed Them ..
I’m not sure what happened here accept that Hezekiah allowed a prideful spirit to get ahold of him.
You would have thought that his intentions would have been different since God has just healed him and added 15 years to his life . Someone who came to our church made an observation there comment was ; how pleased to come into a place where no one was trying to outdo another . Everyone was accepted in other words. It appears Hezekiah is showing off without any regard to God .and the healing that just took place .

Love earthly treasures can only bring destruction. But the love of God brings eternal life . Blessed yes! But the glory does not belong to us but to God.
Hezekiah’s mistake is clear here he says “I was trying to impress them all”.

    Philippians 2
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges ; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

  12. 4 then said he, what have they seen in your house?
And Hezekiah answered: all that is in mine house have they seen there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.
    ——
So Praise God in the highest The lord gave the king more years to live, he is healed now and restored.
    Thank God for mercy, hallelujah.
But now? Could it that the king had forgotten all that the Lord did for him?
( still meditating on this chapter)
    One thing I do know.
Prayer and relationship is the key.
I want the Lord to guide me in every single area of my life.
It is my desire for his Holy Spirit
    To lead me .
That I may know when is the right time to speak

    What decisions to make
    When to persist
When to stop, I mean everything.
    Hallelujah .

  13. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

We must be careful who we allow in “our house”. Not just our physical house, but also our spiritual house. We can not let people that are not right with God give us advice on how to live for God or what to do or not do. We also must treasure what God has blessed us with and don’t take it for granted. Deception is sly, it comes in all different shapes and sizes, male, female, young, old – be careful who you give your time and talent to, because it might be a wolf in sheeps clothing.

  14. 4 then said he, what have they seen in your house?
And Hezekiah answered: all that is in mine house have they seen there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.
Then Hezekiah showed off all the Lord has blessed him with and Isiah told him it was going to be taken away along with his sons. The king was to prideful.

  15. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

Pride then comes destruction when someone tends to show off what they have to be prideful. It better to humble ourselves with the blessings that God has blessed us with.
    Thank You Jesus!

  16. 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

When the word goes forth it brings assurance to what’s going on. It can bring you a peace of mind or it can stir you up. I like for it to do both for me. I need something to keep me stirring so the fire don’t die!

  17. Isaiah 39: 8 ( amp) Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good . And he added, For there will be peace and faithfulness

  18. A wolf in sheeps clothing. I have heard this all my life. It’s a true simple way to understand how deceptive people are. God does not like deception. Being deceptive is carnal. When you buy something online or in public and when you get home it’s not what you thought or what was advertised is total deception. Well take it to a spiritual level. You can’t deceive God. And why do we try?? I love POFW LIVEJESUSGIVEJESUS2

Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Hezekiah was a good feller as evidenced by the scripture, but I reckon he got a little beside himself. When he thought he was gonna die, he refused to accept the word of the Lord. However when he found out his kinfolk were gonna die and be carried captive, he just accepted it…Something wrong here.

  20. The Living Bible
    vs-3
Then Isaiah the prophet came to the King and said What did they say ? Where are they from? From far away in Babylon Hezekiah replied.
    vs-4
How much have they seen? And Hezekiah replied everything i own all my priceless treasures.
The time will come when everything all the treasures will be carried off to Babylon.

  21. 5 “…Hear the word of the Lord…”

The Word of God is Alive, POWERFUL, and True. With any live thing that we have a healthy relationship with, we should listen, communicate, and trust. Same for our relationship with Jesus and The Word, we must listen to what The Word says, spend time with the Word, and Trust that what the Word says is True.

  22. Isaiah 39:2 & 5-7 (MSG)
    2) Hezekiah received the messengers warmly. He took them on a tour of his royal precincts, proudly showing them all his treasures: silver, gold, spices, expensive or kingdom that Hezekiah didn’t show them.

5-7) Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Now listen to this Message from God-of-the-Angel-Armies: I have to warn you, the time is coming when everything in this palace, along with everything your ancestors accumulated before you, will be hauled off to Babylon. God says that there will be nothing left. Nothing. And not only your things but your sons. Some of your sons will be taken into exile, ending up as eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

The mistake Hezekiah made was opening the door and letting the enemy come in and showing them all of his house and kingdom.
I believe there’s an old saying that says, “Give the devil an inch, and he’ll go a mile.”
How true this is. Once you open the door – even slightly, the devil will take an inch to get his foot inside, and then, he’ll go the mile. He’ll rob you of everything, and Nothing will be left. He’s come to kill, steal, and to destroy. He’s come to kill, steal, and destroy your Victory, your Joy, your Peace, your Heal, your Family, your Walk with God, etc… etc…

    Don’t Open The Door!

  23. “Hezekiah was delighted with the Babylonian envoys and showed them everything in his treasure-houses—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the aromatic oils. He also took them to see his armory and showed them everything in his royal treasuries! There was nothing in his palace or kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭39:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Hezekiah wanted them for allies. It appears Babylon wanted Hezekiah for an ally, as well. People who believe in God should never yoke up with those of unbelief. It brings nothing but grief. The greed of the Babylonians would cause them to come against Hezekiah, so they could get all of his wealth.

  24. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:
6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

Be careful who you allow in your house and what you allow them to see for you don’t know what kind of spirit they have. Let God guide you in all things and stay prayed up to know his voice.

  25. Isaiah Chapter 39

8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Are we satisficed that we don’t give thought about our children even before our passing. Hezekiah did not seem to care even if his sons would be captured and made to be eunuchs. It seams as if he was pleased that he would not be captured. Should we not think about our grand children and whether we would have Christ Followers in our legacy after our deaths?

  26. 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Many times we look for peace, but may not be able to find. Peace is something that we can find in Jesus at all times. We must be willing to put our own desires to the side so that God can lead us. Our goal should always be to do the will of our heavenly father.

  27. “‘The time is coming when everything in your palace—all the treasures stored up by your ancestors until now—will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.”
    Isaiah 39:6 NLT

God says what we treasure is where our heart follows. What are we treasuring in our life? Are we investing in the kingdom of God or investing in the treasures of the world. Bless are the people who give their time, treasure, and talent to the Lord.

Pride!!! Hezekiah loses his focus. Pride settles in.
Let us not forget who is in control of life. Don’t take your spiritual life.

“First pride, then the crash— the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

  29. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

Braggards are not seen well!!! I don’t think GOD sees them well either!!! What he could have done was tell them about GOD ,instead of wasting time, precious 15 years that was given to him by GOD.

Sometimes we waste time on the wrong things in life and don’t see it till its too late!!! Speak about JESUS and we will never regret that IF WE TRULY LOVE HIM!!!

  30. 6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

  31. “Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “This message you have given me from the Lord is good.” For the king was thinking, “At least there will be peace and security during my lifetime.””
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭39:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

No matter what we go through in life, no matter how many heartaches no matter how many battles we face or trials, God will always be right next to us lifting us up and giving us strength and peace to overcome. Trust in the Lord always an forever, for he is the one protecting us from our enemies and he is the one helping us grow. Listen to Gods word, obey and at the end you will see and understand everything clearly.

  32. 6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

What’s in your house🏠? I want us to take a moment to really think about this question🤔. We must never have things that God doesn’t want us to have in our homes. We must ask for protection over our family and home. Ask for Jesus to take the wheel🚗. We must always stay strong🦾 in His word📖. I pray🙏 tonight🌙 that we are watching👀 out for the things of this world🌍 and protecting🦍 it from our homes🏡.

  33. 6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

We should protect who we let into our lives. Who we allow to come in and see all that we have and all that we are. Not everyone has the best intentions.

  34. Don’t show your hand

When I took my go sealed hand gun course , one of the first things the instructor said, “ no one should know you have a gun until they are already shot.” Your enemy does not need to know your plan or what you have. This is what you don’t cast your pearl before the swine and you hide the word In Your heart. The snake doesn’t need to know the gold club is coming. You can’t play with your enemy. This is where Hezekiah messed up. Once you open the door to the enemy he won’t hold back on cleaning you out.

  35. 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Hezakiah’s response The word of the lord is good reflects his submission and also his own relief that he personally would not live to see the disaster.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  36. “Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭39:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God’s word is good! The word is with god and the word is god. Is what the Bible says. There will be peace in Jesus name. There will be truth in Jesus name.

    JESUS LOVES YOU!!!

  37. “Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭39:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The word of the lord never fails. His word remains true . When we speak the word of the lord he will love. Never forget the word of the lord. Always take heed to his word and listen to his voice because he will never steer you wrong.

  38. “And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭39:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is the kind of access God wants to our hearts. Yes, He knows all but He has given us free will. I pray we show God all of ourselves, granting access to the most hidden of places.

  39. I wonder what would have happened to him if he would have kept things private? His pride and arrogance are what caused his downfall. I wonder if he was humble would he have Had a different outcome.

  40. We don’t always know who our real friends are or what will come of it. Trusting in the Lord and allowing His Wisdom to guide us through each of our relationships and acquaintance can protect us from some very unsavory situations. Lord I thank You for keeping Your Hand on us, in Jesus name

  41. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

There’s a difference between prideful bragging and joyful boasting in the Lord. It’s one thing to claim the reward and your own and another to give God glory. Remember who saved you, who blessed you, and lead you to where you are – all glory to God, always!

  42. Hezekiah didn’t even intreat the Lord for his sons. He seems to be good with the prophecy because all will be well in his lifetime! To be, there should have been great concern and repentance.

  43. 6‘The time is coming when everything in your palace—all the treasures stored up by your ancestors until now—will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the LORD.

Many will save up treasures for themselves. Yes, its nice to save and pass it on. If you have to much, all will be given away eventually. You can’t take it with you, once you pass on from this world. So save what you need, and share what you have.

  44. 4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:
6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

Don’t tell your enemies all of your things in private. Don’t give the enemy your private time and your undivided attention. For once the enemy can see all of your life then he will and can take everything from you. You may not even realize it as he takes a little piece of you often. Or you start becoming busy doing other evil or sin to where eventually the enemy has everything that belongs to you captive.
