Jeremiah 36

And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the Lord:

Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the Lord in the ears of the people in the Lord’s house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

It may be they will present their supplication before the Lord, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the Lord hath pronounced against this people.

And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.

10 Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the Lord’s house, in the ears of all the people.

11 When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the Lord,

12 Then he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

13 Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.

14 Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

15 And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.

16 Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

17 And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?

18 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

19 Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.

20 And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.

21 So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.

22 Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.

23 And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

24 Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

25 Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.

26 But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the Lord hid them.

27 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

29 And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the Lord; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

30 Therefore thus saith the Lord of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

31 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

32 Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.

The word of the lord will stand forever! That goes for every blessing and every curse. Listen to the words of God and apply them don’t destroy them and deny them.

  2. 2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

God was warning them of the wrath that He has but he was giving them a chance to repent so He can forgive them of their inquiry and sins. No matter if you choose to hear The Word of The Lord or not there’s one thing that’s stand firm and that’s His Word.
    Thank You Jesus!

And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. Romans 8:6‭-‬9 KJV
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Carnality will only numb us to the Word of the Lord and will lead us to make decisions that in the end will be death. We must be actively hungry and seek His face. Seeking Him will make our spirit stronger and we will have victory over our flesh.

  4. 28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

Man can deny the existance of God and the validity of His written Word, but God will not be mocked.

No explanation is given why Jeremiah was prevented from going. He was not imprisoned at this time, but was certainly a hunted man. Lord Jesus have mercy on us today Jeremiah’s times sure sounds familiar today.

  6. “Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up.”

Man can burn whatever material God word is written on, but he cannot destroyed God’sWord! His word is true and will last forever.

  7. Verse 3 MSG “Maybe the community of Judah will finally get it, finally understand the catastrophe that I’m planning for them, turn back from their bad lives, and let me forgive their perversity and sin.” Verse 7 MSG also says “Maybe, just maybe, they’ll start praying and God will hear their prayers. Maybe they’ll turn back from their bad lives. This is no light matter. God has certainly let them know how angry he is!” The time is now to repent of all wrongdoing before it is too late. The Lord has provided the opportunity and the way, now whether we listen and obey is a choice that needs to be made. We have to remember that every thought, every text, every action and decision will not only affect you but generations to come.

When pride and a lack of reverence for the word of The LORD, hearer beware, you will reap the consequences for your sins and actions.

The LORD is reaching out for all. But one thing for sure HE WILL NOT force HIS love on anyone.

  9. I love pofw LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS 2. I have to agree with what one blogged earlier. The times we are in now are surely similar to what we are reading about today. And to think our decisions will effect God’s people to come is just plain scary.

  10. Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up. Neither the king nor his attendants showed any signs of fear or repentance at what they heard.
    Jeremiah 36:23‭-‬24 NLT

The word of God is always going to be powerful but it’s not always going to be received. Regardless of how it’s presented and sometimes regardless of what is being said there are some who will not receive it because it goes against their pride. Pride is the true fall of Man, It’s idolatry in it’s original form

  11. Jeremiah 36:27 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll , and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

God always preserves the scriptures, it was demonstrated in the ministry of Jeremiah.

  12. Jeremiah 36
27-28 After the king had burned the scroll that Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation, Jeremiah received this Message from God: “Get another blank scroll and do it all over again. Write out everything that was in that first scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah burned up.

God’s Word is final. It would not have mattered how many times the King destroyed the message God had sent it still stood. God would fulfill His Word. So many times in our life how many times do people walk away from the written word of God just because they did not like what was written. People can destroy the Word and not adhere to it but God will still fulfill what has been written. Satan thought he had defeated Jesus Christ in the Garden of Eden . At the temptation of Jesus Christ and even at the crucifixion
    If Jesus Christ.
    John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    John 10:35
    If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Thy word have I he’s in my heart that I might sin ….

We must hide the word and keep it in a safe place. Though the written pages may get destroyed we must keep it in the safest place there is . In our hearts. Man , Satan may try to destroy the Kingdom of God yet when the word is imprinted into us it cannot be destroyed. More reason to know the Word .

  13. Jeremiah 36:23
Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up.

    Jeremiah 36:29
Then say to the king, ‘This is what the lord says: You burned the scroll because it said the king of Babylon would destroy this land and empty it of people and animals.

    Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

  14. 27-28 After the king had burned the scroll that Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation, Jeremiah received this Message from God: “Get another blank scroll and do it all over again. Write out everything that was in that first scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah burned up.
We may not like what the Word of God says but it is truth.

  15. 23 And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

24 Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Psalms 119:165

  16. “Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up. Neither the king nor his attendants showed any signs of fear or repentance at what they heard.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭36:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬
It wasn’t the prophet he was rejecting he was rejecting God. Today when we go out not everyone is gonna be responsive to what you have to say but remember it’s nothing personal they’re not rejecting you they’re rejecting Jesus. Be a representative today in Jesus name

  17. Jeremiah 36:22-23
    22) Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
    23) And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

Man can try his best to try to destroy (cut it up – throw it into the fire) the Word Of God, but it will not change anything. God’s Word will not pass away. It will stand forever, for It is forever settled in heaven. “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” (Psalms 119:89)

  18. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    DO IT AGAIN

27 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

Jeremiah teaches us a valued lesson here. The evil king burns the words from the LORD as if they have no value or authenticity. Seeing the WORDS of the LORD are eternal, JESUS instructs Jeremiah to Write them all AGAIN.

Often people become frustrated when we are instructed to DO IT AGAIN. Our carnal mind begins to reason of why we need to do this again, what is the purpose of this, or I am wasting my time.

But the reality is that JESUS is using our submission and obedience to SAVE someone else. The LORD instructed Jeremiah to DO IT AGAIN to SAVE the generations that would follow.

    Also for further support:

Luke 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

Peter had fished all night for nothing. But the LORD said DO IT AGAIN and now the HARVEST was so GREAT that it BLESSED others.

We learn to not be selfish when the LORD says DO IT AGAIN. We DO IT AGAIN to BLESS or SAVE someone else.

  19. Jeremiah 36: 22-23 ( amp) Now it was the ninth month, and the king was sitting in the winter house and a fire was burning there before him in the brazier.
    23) And ( each time) when Jehudi had read three or four columns,[ King Jehoiakom] would cut them off with a penknife, and cast them onto the fire that was in the brazier, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
Matt24: 35 ( amp) Sky and earth will past away, but my words will not pass away.
God word is powerful and final and it will always stand no matter what.

  20. 27 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

God gives us warnings, but when we ignore them then God has no other choice but to do what he has wanted us with.

  21. 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Hearing the word of the Lord is an opportunity to turn from the bad things in your life. God’s word gives us purpose. It will lead us to greatness. All we have to do is follow his word without going astray. Many things will come in our life to turn us away, but God gives us the power to overcome it all.

  22. v5 And Jeremiah commanded Baruch ,saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD:
v6 Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD’S house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

The word of the Lord is powerful…we can send it to places we cannot go…perhaps to a hospital room, prison. So thankful we can speak His word to any situation. He is able.

  23. 32 Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.

People can ignore what the Word says, but it is forever settled in Heaven. Woe to us who feel like we don’t have to adhere to the Word and the warnings given in them to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

  24. vs- (5-6)
When all was finished Jeremiah said to Baruch Since I am a prisoner here vs-6 you read the scroll in the Temple on the next day of Fasting for on the day people will be there from all over Judah.
Most people believe the authorities had forbidden Jeremiah access to the temple due to his earlier sermons there denouncing the religious and political leadership.
The events described date from December 605 B. C. No biblical religous holiday was held diring this month. It is likely the fast was occasioned by some national misfortune such as a plague or impending invasion.

  25. 24 yet they were not afraid, neither the king nor rent their garments neither the king, nor his servants who heard this word.
    ——
    Sin thrills and then kills.
    Everything has an appointed time.
Some people is not afraid of anything
    They reject God
    They reject heaven
    And also hell.
    Simply don’t care.
But that DOES NOT change the facts( the truth) about God
But it will come a time……
    Lord have mercy
    🙏.

  26. 29 And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the Lord; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

The word of God will never return back to him void. The king may have thrown the scroll with the report of the Lord into the fire but he can’t stop what has been written. The Lord will hide us in a safe place when those we deliver his message to turns on us. Either side of the situation the Lord is faithful. He will punish those who don’t repent and protect those who are loyal to him. It’s simple but all too easy for flesh to get in the way. This is why we repent daily and ask Jesus to search our hearts and forgive us of our sins.

  27. Jeremiah 36

28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

Burning the words in the first roll would not erase them from our LORD. We cannot hide anything from God. So, the best thing is to have nothing bad from God, because He already knows.
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  28. 5Then Jeremiah said to Baruch, “I am a prisoner here and unable to go to the Temple.

Many have felt the same since this pandemic started. With cities shutting down, and everyone staying home. Felt a prisoner in your home. Even if we couldn’t go to the temple, we still had church at home, had prayer, and read the Bible. Continue to praise and worship God, and you’ll always will feel free.

  29.  Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

Just because you don’t like what it reads, or don’t like what it says, and cast away from you, doesn’t mean that it’s not true and it will not come to pass. Many brush off the warning from the Lord. They simply turn a deaf ear. Or stop reading or paying attention. Yet His words are forever settled and we will have to give an account for all that is written in this book of God.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
    Matthew 24:35 KJV

  30. And after Jehudi had read three or four columns [of the scroll], King Jehoiakim would cut off that portion with a scribe’s knife and throw it into the fire that was in the brazier, until the [entire] scroll was consumed by the fire. “Take another scroll and write on it all the former words that were on the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah burned.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭36:23, 28‬ ‭AMP‬‬

You can try and erase what god has said but what god says is forever eternal. If one ear doesn’t hear it god has another way of getting his word out. We can’t erase his words. Some may not want to hear it or try and make is be gone forever but it can not be. Gods words are forever.

  31. “Perhaps even yet they will turn from their evil ways and ask the Lord’s forgiveness before it is too late. For the Lord has threatened them with his terrible anger.””
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭36:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wether we want to believe it or not God is coming back and soon. We need to make sure that what we are doing is always right with the Lord, we need to make sure our heart, mind, and spirit is in the right place with God. Make God first in your life always! I pray we go out as one whole body and go spread the news that the Lord is coming back, and they can change their ways before it is to late. For God delivers and he restores! We have a God that forgives and renews let the world know they can change before it is late!

  32. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
Wow, what a chapter. So many points in this Word today. Even though I have read this chapter before, I guess I had forgotten about it. The king thought he could disrespect the Word of God by burning it in the fire, but all he did was give the prophet a fresh Word and this time around it would include extra judgements meant for the king.

  33. 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Not all bad that comes out way is because of evil but sometimes it is. It’s important for us to walk in wisdom and recognize why we are enduring the trial. Let us not be stupid and try to destroy or put His word in the fire. His word is forever settled in heaven. We better take note and obey. For the fire if the Holy Ghost is more powerful than any fire man can build.

  34. 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

We must be always turning to God. Sin is of the flesh and thus earth, and it is not needed. We are people so we sin, but we must be asking for forgiveness. I pray tonight that you are always going to turn back to God!!!

  35. “Perhaps even yet they will turn from their evil ways and ask the Lord’s forgiveness before it is too late. For the Lord has threatened them with his terrible anger.” Baruch did as Jeremiah told him and read these messages from the Lord to the people at the Temple.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭36:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are the church of these last days, and God is calling us to reach this world warning them of His return and that day of judgment. We must trust in the Lord for He is with us, and be submitted to His will for He will guide us. Let us run to the harvest knowing there’s more for us than against us.

  36. “Get another scroll, and write everything again just as you did on the scroll King Jehoiakim burned.
    Jeremiah 36:28 NLT

The Word of God will always stand. God’s Word can never be destroyed. God’s Word can never fail.

  37. “Neither the king nor his attendants showed any signs of fear or repentance at what they heard.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭36:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Oh be careful little ears why they hear. When we refuse to listen to the voice of God, we as people will list our a list of desires/wants rather than listening for His voice. I pray we make sure to repent everyday and hide the Word of God in our hearts

  38. 30 Therefore thus saith the Lord of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

I think sometimes we make sinful bad choices and we forget that it does not only affect us! Your sin is not only exclusive to you! Your individual sin could potentially effect not only you, but those friends and family close to you as well. “. . . I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; . . .” Remember this and maybe in that indecisive moment, this would help to make better choices.

  39. Jeremiah Chapter 36

3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

God loves Israel and will do all He can do to keep his children including the verse above.

4 Then Jeremiah called 4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book. a scroll was made on the behest of Jeremiah.

Let us see what the answer will be.

God protects his servants and his word.

The punishment’s will be dealt with. That which was written did come to pass.
