Jeremiah 39

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.

And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

10 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

11 Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,

12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon’s princes;

14 Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

15 Now the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

  1. Jeremiah 39:17-18
[17]but I will rescue you from those you fear so much.
[18]Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Fear not, neither be dismayed. The promises of God are yes and amen. No matter the trials we go through in life God is always with us and he will use them for his glory. They are our testimony of where God brought us from and they can help others in similar trials.

    God reminds us daily,
    I am your strength.
    I will never leave you.
I have plans for you to prosper.
    I hear your prayers.
    I will fight for you.
    I will give you peace.
    I always love you.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

    Standing

Can you hear the voice of the Father
Inviting you to walk the water?
Risk it all, answer the call, and enter in.
Now we stand on every promise
We’re not afraid, our faith goes before us
When we believe, we’re gonna see
    The supernatural

We’re gonna see what we’re praying for
    We believe every single word
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
    Standing on his promises,
    We’re gonna see the impossible
    We release the supernatural
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
We are standing on his promises

We will face the darkness around us
As we break the chains that have bound us
Oh, yes, it’s true, we can do the impossible
So we stand with keys of the kingdom
To declare the day of our freedom
When we believe, we’re gonna see
    The supernatural.

We’re gonna see what we’re praying for
    We believe every single word
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
    Standing on his promises,
    We’re gonna see the impossible
    We release the supernatural
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
We are standing on his promises

    We are stand-ing… stand-ing…
Standing on the promises of Christ our Savior…
    We are stand-ing… stand-ing…
Standing on the promises of Christ our Savior…

We’re gonna see what we’re praying for
    We believe every single word
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
    Standing on his promises,
    We’re gonna see the impossible
    We release the supernatural
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
We are standing on his promises

    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
We are standing on his promises
    Stronger than we’ve ever been,
We are standing on his promises

  2. Jeremiah 39:16‭-‬18 NLT
“Say to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: I will do to this city everything I have threatened. I will send disaster, not prosperity. You will see its destruction, but I will rescue you from those you fear so much. Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’”

When we put our trust in the Lord, no matter what kind of mess is around you. He will rescue and deliver you from harm. Fear is not an option. We have His love.

  3. Jeremiah 39: 17-18 ( amp) But I will deliver you [ Ebedmelech] on that day ,says the Lord, and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.
    (18) For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be a reward of battle to you, because you have put your trust in Me,says the Lord.
Prov. 3: 5-6 Lean on, trust and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind, and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
    (6) In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Regardless what your facing today in your life,Put your Trust in the Lord.
    The key word is trust.
    Thank you Jesus.

  4. King Nebuchadnezzar had told Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, to find Jeremiah. “See that he isn’t hurt,” he said. “Look after him well, and give him anything he wants.”
    Jeremiah 39:11‭-‬12 NLT

Admist all the chaos and death, with all of the fires and captivity, Jeremiah was still safe and was not harmed. Because he chose to be obedient and hear the voice of God and deliver the message God kept him safe. He spoke the message of Truth to the people despite what they said or did to him and did not receive it, God put a hedge of protection around Jeremiah so no harm would come to him in fact on a day where his people were taking captive for disobedience, Jeremiah was actually set free. Never let go, and don’t forget the promises of God

  5. 6. Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

    7. Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

Can you imagine if the last thing you saw was your children being killed; then, instead of being put out of your misery, you were put into prison?
Choosing to close our eyes to God’s Word and warnings comes at too high a price!

  6. Jeremiah 39
Thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

    Trust.
An assurance everything is going to be alright .

    Psalms 91:21
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

  7. 17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

God always takes care of his people. Worrying is not something that we have to do, even do we do it often. When we obey the word of God and put our trust in him, he will always make sure we are taken care of. Sometimes it may not happen when we think it should, but God’s timing is always the best timing. Trust God and he will direct your paths.

  8. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
Honestly, if we look at this moment in history, it’s kinda like playing one of those games that have multiple endings. You are in the middle of the plot and door number one takes you to this ending and door number two takes you to another ending. This account is very sad because the king continually ignored the prophets warning and the last thing he ever saw was his children being slaughtered. The Ethiopian chose the correct door in life however and was rewarded for his faithfulness and kindness to the man of God. God sees everything and every sacrifice we make in the kingdom.

  9. I love pofw LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS 2 . There are many things in this life that are not tolerable just as in the Bible days. But no choice but to pray harder and get thru it. God has to tolerate way more than us and we are sweating bullets, imagine God with all these children, talk about sweating bullets?!?! I love God and I love my pastor!!! Both are on the winning side and I want to be too!!

  10. “King Nebuchadnezzar had told Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, to find Jeremiah. “See that he isn’t hurt,” he said. “Look after him well, and give him anything he wants.” So Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard; Nebushazban, a chief officer; Nergal-sharezer, the king’s adviser; and the other officers of Babylon’s king sent messengers to bring Jeremiah out of the prison. They put him under the care of Gedaliah son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan, who took him back to his home. So Jeremiah stayed in Judah among his own people.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭39:11-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Now an old man, Jeremiah was released from prison, protected by the Babylonians, and allowed to live among the people once again. This was a demonstration of God’s grace.

  11. 16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian saying
Thus saith the Lord of host, the God of Israel
Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil
And not for good, and they shall be accomplished in that city before thee.
17 but I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord and
Thou shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom
    Thou art afraid.
    ——-

Yeap, he was not counting with being spare from
    The evil coming…
    God spared his life.
God saw what he did that day , he did the right thing.
    He did a righteous thing.
    He stood up in righteousness….
    ——
Whatever it is, wether it’s to
    Keep quiet
    Speak
    Do something
    Or not to….
This man open up his mouth and had the courage to speak to the king and spoke on Jeremiah’s behalh.
    —-
Lord, forgive me for not doing anything about it when opportunities are present.
And I 🙏 for me to have the courage to always stand for righteousness
And do what’s right, without compromising and being afraid.
    In Jesus name.

  12. 18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

The Lord does not change. When we put our trust in the Lord, He will deliver us.

  13. 17-18 NKJV “But I will deliver you in that day,” says the Lord, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’
    ‭‭
‭Regardless of the situation you are going through, trust in the Lord and He will direct your path.

  14. “Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’””
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭39:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Can you trust God i n. Times of chaos as much as you do in times of victory and blessing? Sure its easy to say yes if you’re not facing anything right now but when your faith is being stretched are you gonna hang in there and let God do his thing or are you gonna fold and throw in the white towel. Jesus is here to stay and even when you can’t see him he’s working, he’s moving and he’s preparing the table for you and him both. Just hang in there and God will make a way!

  15. 4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

5 But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

The parallel of obedience and disobedience

Yesterday we read where the king inquired of Jeremiah regarding what to do, yet he did exactly opposite of what the he was instructed. The cost of that disobedience was that he saw his sons out to death in front of his very eyes, his city was burned and he was now captive to Babylon.

However, we see that the enunch, the nobody that God had used in the chapter yesterday to deliver Jeremiah from the mire found favor with the Lord for his obedience and was saved from the destruction.

Our obedience will save us, our disobedience not only will cost us our life, but that of our family and those we influence as well.

  16. What might be our last vision?

Zedekiah’s last sight was the killing of his sons, then his sight was taken away. I can remember living in sin and thinking I am getting away with this; no one knows. God knows. He sent people into my life to call me out of the depths of my sin. I heeded the call. I am not perfect and neither has my walk has not been perfect. What if I had not repented and continue to strive to be good? Could my sight have been taken away – figuratively or reality?

While this chapter details the literal eyes being “put out” it could mean his ability to see what might come, the ability to plan and prepare for a future. Ignoring God’s word and warnings could hinder us from seeing our future with Him. It could keep us from making wise decisions concerning our future and how we fit into the Kingdom of God.

I have had days, that turned into months and now years, where my future has been uncertain. But if there is one thing I have learned through trusting God in the dark – it is this… This world may be uncertain, unstable and always changing but my God is not.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. People are going to disappoint us and let us down. But God does not change. He is rock solid. His promises are reliable. His word stands true for eternity and his love endures forever. We can trust God when the future seems uncertain because God is consistent and constant.

  17. 6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

Two different stories, two different endings. One afraid and ashamed to hear the Word of God. One unashamed to speak only the truth of the Word of God. We have a choice – which will you choose?

The 2 men that trusted in God are delivered and saved in the seige and destruction of Jerusalem. Trust in the Lord and his word. He can make a way for us when we can see no way.

  20. “For I will certainly rescue you; and you will not fall by the sword, but you will have your [own] life as a reward of battle, because you have placed your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’ ””
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭39:18‬ ‭AMP

When all is said and done, through the storms of life, the naysayers, the hateful, our TRUST in The LORD and obedience it will take you further in life than what could imagine.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31 KJV

I will continue to TRUST HIM

  21. “Then he poked out Zedekiah’s eyes. He put him in bronze chains. And he took him to Babylon.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭39:7‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

When you depend on your own understanding and trust in the arm of flesh you in losing your vision. Lean not to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways remember him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight. Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Have respect for the Lord and avoid evil.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-7‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  22. 4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

We cannot run or hide from God

  23. Jeremiah 39:18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

  24. Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’”
    Jeremiah 39:18 NLT

Even in despair God still have wants to bless and take care of His people. We need just follow His Will. 🌸💚

  25. 17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

    Thank You Jesus!

  26. 11 Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,

12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

Jeremiah was spared and allowed to live out his life in peace. Ebed-Melech was also spared and allowed to live out his life in peace. King Zedekiah however, was captured and watched his sons killed and then his eyes were put out and he was taken to Babylon to live out his remaining days in sorrow. When it is expedient to fight for our homeland, then we should fight. But, when God says to surrender, then, we should obey him. Obedience is the key to ultimate blessings of God.

  27. Jeremiah 39:16-18 (NLT)
    16) Say to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says, I will do to this city everything I have threatened. I will send disaster, not prosperity. You will see its destruction.
    17) But I will rescue you from those you fear so much.
    18) Because you have trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the LORD, have spoken!

Yesterday, we read that Ebed-melech the Ethiopian was the man who stood in the gap, before the king, for Jeremiah’s deliverance. He was also one of the men who helped deliver Jeremiah out of the mire of the dungeon.
I believe, because he trusted in God and helped Jeremiah, that God gave Ebed-melech a promise and a blessing to rescue him and keep him safe.
I believe there are promises and blessings from God for us, when we stand in the gap and help deliver (through prayer) the Man of God (Pastor) in our life.

Always (Everyday) Keep Pastor & Sis. Watts In Your Prayers!! You never know what your Prayers are doing on their behalf.

  28. 18Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the LORD, have spoken!’”

A simple concept, trust in God. When things seem to be going against you, trust in God. When it seems you don’t have enough to make ends meet, give anyway and trust in God. Be spiritually strong in God, and you’ll be blessed.

Psalm 4:5 Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD.

  29. vs. 3
And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarse-chim, Rab-saris, Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.

Predictions fulflled (39:3) Jeremiah 1:15 contains the prediction, “kings will come and set up their thrones in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem.” The event described in 39:3 is specific fulfilment of the prediction. The gates mentioned separated the upper and lower city, and the officials probably met to plan mopping-up operations. By the way, Nergal-Sharezer was Nebuchadnezzar’s son-in-law, he took the name Neriglissar when he succeeded him on Babylon’s throne.

Never doubt that God’s word will be fulfilled.

  30. Jeremiah 39

Thank you Jesus for you are merciful to those that love you/ For you are Savior, Lord, King, Redeemer, Sanctifier, and Great Provider. We place our trust in you for all things. I praise you for all things. We bow before you with our bodies as well as with souls and spirits. We look up to you and bless your name. This is the day you have made and we rejoice and are glad in it. Ebedmelech the Ethiopian 17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid. May we be mindful that He Jesus is mindful of us. Amen

  31. 18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

His life was spared, and it does not say it was because of his bravery or heroism, but it was because of his obedience.

Obedience to God will spare you a lot of heartache!

  32. Jeremiah 39

18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be a prey unto thee:
because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

Loving our Lord and trusting Him with all your heart CAN save you! Put your life in God’s hands and all will be fine.
Thank you Jesus for this day.
    .

  33. 6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
8 And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
9 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

First his hope was killed, with the killing of his children. Then his vision was taken away, his eyes were put out. Last he was bound and had nowhere to return to, he was put in chains and his house burned.

This is what carnality wants to do to each of us; kill our hope, take our vision, bind us with sin and fill us with condemnation so we have a hard time repenting.

  34. 16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

God will take care of his people even when judgment comes to a nation.

  39. “Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭39:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we make the decision of turning our lives to God and living for him, one of the most important things is trusting him and allowing him to move you wherever. With God there is no reason we should fear any situation we face, or anything the enemy throws our way for we have God on our side and he will always give us strength to overcome. Everyday we need to grow our faith in him and our trust in him, make him the center of your day, make him the center of your life! When God is most important in your life, nothing will come against you and God will always protect you.

  40. 17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

He will deliver us and yet not hand us over to whoever we are afraid of. Whom shall I fear?? No one, because He is on our side. “The LORD is the stronghold of my life– of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.” Psalm 27:1.

  41. Verse 18 NKJV “For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’ ” Same verse NLT “Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’” One must be careful in whom and what we put our trust in. Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP says “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. [a]In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

  42. “but I will rescue you from those you fear so much. Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’””
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭39:17-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Have great faith and give all to the Lord. Jesus will rescue us if when fear him. Read daily to renew your strength/faith.

  43. “Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!’””

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the person who trusts in Him. The word of God is true and it will never fail. Obey God’s commands and it will lead your life in blessing. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, call on the name of Jesus and put all of your confidence in Him.

  44. 18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.

It is truly a blessing to trust in the Lord. The word tells us that blessed is the man whose trust is in the Lord. However this hard thing is to trust. To loose control and give it over to God.

  45. 18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.
