Psalm 79

O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

  1. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

It is obviously a sign of the Lord’s fierce anger and jealous wrath, but how long will His jealousy burn like fire against Israel? Isn’t time to turn against the Gentiles for a change? After all, these nations do not want to know Jehovah ;name. And now they have crowns their sins with the slaughter of God’s people and the devastation of the land.

  2. In verse 5 ERV a question is posed “Lord, will you be angry with us forever? Will your strong feelings[a] continue to burn like a fire? I can only imagine the Lord posing that same question to us! “Bro. or Sis. So and So, how long will you continue in your rebellion, how long will you continue to disobey me? Will your strong fleshly feelings continue to keep you from me?

Psalm 42:11 VOICE “Why am I so overwrought, Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me, my God.”

  3. “So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: We will shew forth thy praise to all generations.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭79:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The enemy may seem to have the upper hand, but, only for a moment.
At the end of the day, when it is all said and done, WE the church will PREVAIL. The VICTORY belongs to us, WE WIN!
Trials, Tribulations, and the testing of our faith will be challenged. None is excluded. Remember that the trying of your faith produces patience.

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  4. 1. O God, pagan nations have conquered your land, your special possession. They have defiled your holy Temple and made Jerusalem a heap of ruins. NLT

    “We’ll, DUH!”
I wonder if God says that when we run to Him crying about something that happened, when He had been warning us for a long time that it was coming.
They had the power to prevent what happened, just as we have the power to prevent a lot of our problems if we would only obey God’s warnings through His men and His written Word.

  5. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Unfortunately many people will come to God as the last resort, after everything is set and done and after the wrath has been poured out or the punishment has been given, that’s when people realize what they’ve done. There’s an old war saying that refers to “finding God in the foxhole” and it is generally talking about when someone is at a point of desperation do they finally reach out to God. Many of us wait for that opportunity before we realize what’s been there all along. If only we would see is waiting on his people to do this before that point

  6. Ps. 79: 8-9 ( amp) O do not ( earnestly) remember against us the iniquities and guilt of our forefathers! Let Your compassion and tender mercies speedily come to meet us, for we are brought very low.
    9) Help us, O God of our salvation for the glory of Your name’s sake.
I thank God that don’t remember our sins , by his grace and mercy and forgiveness.
1John 1: 18 ( amp) But grow in grace ( underserved favor, spiritual strength) and recognition and knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Messiah. To him (be) glory ( honor, majesty and splendor) both now and to the day of eternity.
    Amen so be it.
It’s all up to us to be saved.

  7. Oh DIOS, siempre a sido asi hacemos mal y luego estamos como el perro con la cola entre las patas despues. Perdonanos senor .

  8. No matter what the weapon is I want you to know I win! I love Pofw LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS 2! Thank you for grace and mercy God! Thank you for forgiveness. I want to be saved and dine with you forever!

  9. 6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

It can be a reasonable desire to ask the Lord to punish those that have mistreated us. However, sometimes people overlook the reason they have been mistreated, which could be due to their disobedience to the Lord.

  10. “O Lord, how long will you be angry with us? Forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire? Pour out your wrath on the nations that refuse to acknowledge you— on kingdoms that do not call upon your name. For they have devoured your people Israel, making the land a desolate wilderness.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭79:5-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The good news was that God’s anger and jealousy would not burn against His people forever. Jeremiah foretold the judgment to come, but he also told of restoration that would follow.

  11. Psalms 79:2‭-‬4 NLT
They have left the bodies of your servants as food for the birds of heaven. The flesh of your godly ones has become food for the wild animals. Blood has flowed like water all around Jerusalem; no one is left to bury the dead. We are mocked by our neighbors, an object of scorn and derision to those around us.

The enemy can attack and think he has destroyed us by leaving us dead for people to see but our God is greater that He defeated death. We are His children and even if the enemy thinks he has defeated us there is still Hope in Jesus. He can do the impossible.

  12. Listen to the moaning of the prisoners. Demonstrate your great power by saving those condemned to die.
    Psalms 79:11 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.79.11.NLT

When I was bound in sin the words coming from my mouth did not speak cries for help but my soul was in anguish. I was in despair. I was in desolation. I was so broken and lost. I was a prisoner. But You, oh Lord whispered to me and led me to a place where I could receive your love and Your salvation. I praise Your Holy name.

  13. Psalms 79:8-9 & 13 (AMP)
    8) O do not remember against us the sins and guilt of our forefathers.
Let your compassion and mercy come quickly to meet us, for we have been brought very low.
    9) Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; Rescue us, forgive us of our sins for Your name’s sake.

    13) So we Your people, the sheep of Your pasture, will give You thanks forever; we will declare and publish Your praise from generation to generation.

We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. When we call upon His Name, JESUS, He will have Compassion and Mercy upon us; He will Rescue us; and He
will Forgive us of our sins.
Then, we will Give Him Thanks Forever. We will Declare and Publish His Praise (to all generations -KJV) from generation to generation.

Give Him Thanks Forever, and Declare and Publish to other people what He has done for you in your life.

  14. 11 let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee
According to the greatness of thy power, preserve thou that are appointed to die.
    🙏
You are good lord. You know what’s behind the curtain
You know man’s heart, you understand the picture
You are righteous, you are a compassionate God. In Jesus name I pray.

  15. 5O LORD, how long will you be angry with us? Forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire?

The longer you resist God, the longer he’ll probably stay angry at you. God could stay angry at us all the time, we are sinful by nature. But God has mercy on us, and loves us, and will protect and bless us. Do right, and God will not be angry at us, but will be kind, loving and peaceful.

  16. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    PRAISE OR COMPLAIN

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Life is filled with challenges and opportunities, tests, trials, favor and blessings, Often we have no control over the things that come up against us.

    BUT

We do have control over how we respond. When life challenges arise do we PRAISE the LORD for HIS goodness or do we complain about what we challenged us?

Knowing that we are the LORDS is so important to our outlook on life and our response to challenges. As the people of GOD and the sheep of HIS pasture we GIVE JESUS thanks for ALL that HE has done for us, to us and through us. We PRAISE JESUS according to HIS excellent greatness which never changes.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray

    • So true. When I had said why Lord for so long things did not change until I began giving thanks to Him. The flesh hurts and Too many times we want answers when all God wants is praise .
If we truly trust Him would He not withhold any good thing from us.
As we delight in the Lord in praise He will give us the desires of our heart .
So instead of why ; give thanks and praise it does make a difference.
In the good times praise His name
In the bad times do the same
In everything give the King of Kings all the thanks.

  17. 11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

I will always give Jesus praise and thanks for everything that he has and still doing for my family!! He is an awesome God!
    Hallelujah!!
    Thank You Jesus!

  18. 12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

There are consequences to the choices we make. How many of us are like Israel. We make decisions knowing that God would not be pleased with up the choice we have made yet, yet when the consequences of that decision come to us, we beg God to deliver us. We then tell Him we will give Him thanks forever, serve Him forever, if Hs will just get us out of mess.

It’s time to change how we make decisions. Seek Him first and if we don’t get an answer, wait until we do. Waiting is so much better than suffering.

  19. 9 NLT “Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name.”
‭ ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭14:7‬ ‭NLT “The people say, “Our wickedness has caught up with us, Lord, but help us for the sake of your own reputation. We have turned away from you and sinned against you again and again.”

What a privilege it is to be able to carry all our sins to God in prayer. Ask for forgiveness and mercy. He is a fair and just God.

  20. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

God’s judgement brought some of his people back to him and they cry out for mercy now as well as revenge on their adversaries. Sometimes he has to get our attention through the trials so we turn back to him again. So thankful for his mercy and grace!

  21. Psalms 79:11
Listen to the moaning of the prisoners.
Demonstrate your great power by saving those condemned to die.

There is saving power in the name of Jesus.
    Thank you Jesus

  22. Psalms 79
13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

NO matter the situation if we truly trust God can we give thanks? We are His people and His sheep. Do we not understand He cares for us?

    Psalms 95:7
    King James Version
For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:

  23. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Good somehow became the last resort in their attempt to escape trial. God shouldn’t be our last resort though. We should always look to Him first!

Know ye that the LORD he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
    Psalm 100:3 KJV

“It is HE that hath made us, and not we ourselves;” this is one of many reasons why God should be FIRST. We are His creation. He desired us first. He loved us first. He saved us first. How could we not return the love of God and seek Him first in our life?!

  24. So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

  25. “O remember not against us former iniquities: Let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: For we are brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: And deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭79:8-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Help us, O God of our salvation” We have all been there. We Have all experience that desperation, that crying out for help. Although the situation most likely is painful, crying out to God is the exact thing that we should do in those situations. It’s the perfect place. A place where are we can be face-to-face with God. And we can pour out our petitions and make our requests known to him.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  26. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

    For HS
IS NAME SAKE, there are things that we do that don’t glorify GOD…… ,BUT GOD FOR HIS NAMES SAKE AND BECAUSE OF HIS MERCY, HE “makes do, HIS allowed will” . with all that being said , just cause HE made do, doesn’t mean that there aren’t consequences

  27. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

God is faithful to us and merciful. Just because you have walked away doesn’t mean God won’t still love you. We have to repent, meaning turning away from the darkness and not looking back to it.

  28. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus2
Wow, Jerusalem is laid in heaps and now the folks come to the Lord in humility. Just like many folks today, wait till they almost dead before they repent. It would be nice to serve the Lord when everything is going good you reckon?

  29. 5 How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

It was total defeat and destruction. The dead were not even buried properly. God promised to defeat and conquer Judah’s oppressors. But, that was little consolation to a people who were so completely humiliated. Yes they would rise again in God’s time. After 70 years passed, God would bring back a remnant to Judah. Such extreme measures were needed to bring Judah to it’s knees. However, the Jews never again turned to idols or false gods. Do we need extreme measures to obey God or can we just humbly submit to his direction?

  30. 9 “Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name…”

There is something about THE NAME of Jesus!
There is power in the Name of Jesus!

When we don’t know who else to call, or what else to do, I pray we learn to simply call on the Name of Jesus!

  31. vs-8
O remember not against us former iniquities let the tender mercies speedily prevent us for we are brought very low.

Do not remeber former iniquities against us :
Speaking on behalf of the exiled survivors Asaph humbled himself before God and admitted their sin against Him. They could no longer deny their sin instead could plead for forgiveness and for Gods tender mercies to come speedily.

  32. Listen to the moaning of the prisoners. Demonstrate your great power by saving those condemned to die. O Lord, pay back our neighbors seven times for the scorn they have hurled at you. Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation.
    Psalms 79:11‭-‬13 NLT

A desperate cry for help. God will allow it to get to the point where you recognize where your help is coming from. The psalmist questions how long will you be mad at us? Then asks God to avenge them. The thing is that at times people forget who their God is. The brush off the warning, they turn off the voice of God in their lives and then God let’s them have it their way knowing that their way only leads to hurt and destruction. He removed his had of covering, favor and blessing leaving people exposed to world. Until they cry for help. . They cry in repentance they turn back to the Lord. That us their response he was wanting from them. Life and problems will come but our response should be to examine out and then lift your eyes up to the hills, lift up your eyes to the Lord from when comes your help.

  33. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

  34. v9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

HE met the requirement for our sin and paid the price for our freedom from its clutches. Now we glorify Him not
Only because of His saving us, but also because of who He is

  35. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Thank you Jesus for one more day to praise your Holy Name!

  36. “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; Rescue us, forgive us our sins for Your name’s sake.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭79:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Something about when we call out to him. No matter what it may be when we call on his name he hears our cry. He is like that mother who can pick out what their child needs based on their cry. He knows each and everyone of us because he made each and everyone of us. So regardless of what situation you may face know that you can always call upon his name and he will hear your cry.

  37. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

The Lord will help us when we are in need. He may not come when we want him, but he is always on time. The enemy wants us to believe that God will not be there for us. However, that is simply not true. He has always been there for us and will always be there for us.

  38. “Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭79:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we are turning away from our sins and from our wicked ways we have to let God know we are fully committed, and we will live for him full heartedly, show him you are willing to obey his word and commands no matter what. Living for God isn’t easy for you will still face trials, but God brings peace, and light and joy into your life, which is better than anything. God is always forgiving, he is always loving and will always protect us, giving your life to God is the best thing you can ever do!

  39. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

He will always be there. If you were to count on anyone in life, that you know will always blvd by your side it would be God. He fights for us. He died on the cross for our sins. What are you doing in return? We must be giving Him all that He deserves for it is well needed. I pray tonight that the only one we are exalting and lifting high is Him!!!

  40. “Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name.”
    Psalms 79:9 NLT

Call on the name of Jesus He is the only way to salvation and can do all things. Humble yourself to Jesus and seek Him first and turn from your wicked ways then God will hear and heal and forgive His people. The time is now to be right with Jesus now let us give our all to Jesus.

  41. Psalm Chapter 79

In this Psalm the person who is speaking is complaining to God concerning how the Nation of Israel was murdered and their blood was spilt. God spoke through the prophets and this would happen.

I do not hear a repented heart. God will not purge sin while it is being repeated over and over. If we truly repent we will stop and turn our hearts to Jesus. Even Jesus who forgave adultery to the woman to not sin again.

I do not see this in this Psalm 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. The above verse could not happen until they repented of idolatry and pulled down the shrines and the poles cut down or killed those who would not stop the idol worship. God is not mocked.

  42. “O Lord, pay back our neighbors seven times for the scorn they have hurled at you. Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭79:12-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.79.12-13.NLT

We shouldn’t only praise God in the times he does things for us. In this case I’m not sure if they were only gonna praise him just for taking care of their neighbors or what. But we should praise God in every circumstance in that’s a fact jack

  43. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Help us Lord!! Help us, deliver us, purge us!! Lord, cleanse our hearts. Help change our mindsets. Help us to remain a changed person, for the better. Help us to be greater and whole in your sight.
