Lamentations 4

How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.

They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.

Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:

Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

10 The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

11 The Lord hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

12 The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

14 They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

15 They cried unto them, Depart ye; it is unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn there.

16 The anger of the Lord hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.

17 As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

18 They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20 The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the Lord, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

Gods not giving any slack to Judah. He has them in the crosshairs of judgement and won’t let go till they get the point. Our God is Righteous in His Judgement but it’s still sad.

Judgement is coming again…. The book of Revelation shows the story

  2. 13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

Personal choice is important, however great responsibly is carried upon the shoulders of leardership. A group of people/ church can be lead to salvation or damnation by their leadership.

  3. The Lord himself has scattered them, and he no longer helps them. People show no respect for the priests and no longer honor the leaders.
    Lamentations 4:16 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/lam.4.16.NLT

The priests and leaders of Jerusalem had become so focused on position, hierarchy, politics that they had removed themselves from the heartbeat of what the Lord wanted to do through them. They became so defiled no one wanted them near.

As leaders God reaches for us daily. Our first job as leaders is to commune with God and make that connection so He can openly instruct us through out the day to help others. If we shut ourselves off from that then we’re operating in our own power and not the power of the Holy Ghost.

  4. Lamentations 4:22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

The Lord will bring their sins to light, and they shall lie down in eternal sorrow.

  5. Lamentations 4:4
The parched tongues of their little ones stick to the roofs of their mouths in thirst. The children cry for bread but no one has any to give them.

Jesus is the living water and all we need. Thank you Jesus.

    John 4:10-11,13-15
[10]Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”
[11]“But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water?
[13]Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.
[14]But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
[15]“Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.”

  6. How the gold has lost its luster! Even the finest gold has become dull. The sacred gemstones lie scattered in the streets!
    Lamentations 4:1 NLT

Of the things I’ve learned in my walk with Christ is to not take advantage of what I have with him. I have been through many difficult situations where I took for granted my blessings and lost site of what was most important. Everything we have been blessed with will eventually fade away and lost value, especially if we prioritize it above the one who gave the blessing to begin with

  7. Thank you Jesus for today , let us thank him First then repent for our secret sins then praise him

O beautiful Jerusalem, your punishment will end; you will soon return from exile. But Edom, your punishment is just beginning; soon your many sins will be exposed.
    Lamentations 4:22 NLT

  8. Verses 1-22 tell what happened to Jerusalem what happened to a once mighty people. the city besieged and dead everywhere. this symbolic to what happens in a persons life when sin takes over, where there is no repentance.
can you imagine the scene of what was happening? I am sure when it was happening the people were saying if we would only have listened and followed after God. we live in grace and God is offering everyone on earth a way out of sin or a way to stay out of sin we just have to want it.
remember today the hand of God is here to help.

  9. 12-13 NLT “Not a king in all the earth— no one in all the world— would have believed that an enemy could march through the gates of Jerusalem. Yet it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the sins of her priests, who defiled the city by shedding innocent blood.”

The people who should have been leading them to God was leading them to a sinful way of life instead. Know the Word of God for yourself and be certain whom you choose to follow is following God.

  10. Lamentations 4
4 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

How sadly the gold has become dim. My thoughts went to those who leave the presence of God. Their purity form the live of God begins to get tarnished. One thing leads to another and soon they have grown dimmer and dimmer . The question is asked “how is the gold become dim? How has the most fine gold change? What an inventory we must take on our own life. A Holy Inspection. Is what we are participating causing our vessels to become dull or brighter. Are the relationships in our life drawing us closer or further from God . The most fit gold. Sadly I have watched some of the finest in my eyes Christians backslide . It has brought pain that feels like a death. How sad that God has meant for us to His people to be happy to be live yet they choose death. We say I don’t know when it happened or how it happened. U could go on endlessly. If we walk not after the spirit daily putting God first and not this flesh then our vessels can become tarnished , dull. Again take a spiritual inventory. Is what you participate in luring you into neglecting the spiritual things of your life ? If so then we have become just like Israel. God guard us help us to always seek you first. Delighting in the Lord brings blessings . Delighting in the world will bring destruction to the soul .

  11. Verse 20-22MSG “Our king, our life’s breath, the anointed of God, was caught in their traps—
Our king under whose protection we always said we’d live. Celebrate while you can, O Edom! Live it up in Uz! For it won’t be long before you drink this cup, too. You’ll find out what it’s like to drink God’s wrath,
Get drunk on God’s wrath and wake up with nothing, stripped naked. And that’s it for you, Zion. The punishment’s complete. You won’t have to go through this exile again. But Edom, your time is coming: He’ll punish your evil life, put all your sins on display.” No one is exempt from the temptation of sin; but true repentance means you don’t ever allow yourself to go back or turn back. Otherwise, you might find yourself waking up to nothing as the chapter is captioned in the MSG, because you looked back like Sodom and Gomorrah. In the VOICE version one caption reads “….. regardless of the severity of his or her sins, because all sin is worthy of death……”. In Sunday School today we are learning about the value of repentance. Nothing we do changes our value to God. We are precious and valuable to God. When we repent, God reaches done and rescues us from the sinful dirt we have created in our lives as God forgives us when we repent.

  12. LIVE – GIVE JESUS2
    CARE FOR THE SONS

2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

The lament of the prophet is evident here with the burden of pain in his spirit. We see the value that JESUS places on the precious sons of Zion, the church. This not only refers to the natural sons, but also the spiritual sons.

As the CHURCH of JESUS we have a great responsibility to protect, nature and feed our sons. Natural and spiritual. Who will carry on the Gospel of JESUS if our sons are not prepared and protected? The prophet compares the sons to gold, but they have been minimized to pots of clay.

JESUS give us wisdom and insight into keeping and supporting our sons natural and spiritual.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  13. I love pofw LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS 2.it is incredible how good God is. He has brought me a long way and I am going and going with God!!!!!

  14. 8 their visage is blacker than a coal
They are not know in the streets
Their skin cleavers to their bones
It is withered, it is become like a stick.
    ——
We can look clean, ( or actually live right) we can have a great appearance but all it takes is one time to give in to sin
And if not taken care off, then it’ll get greater…
Instead of going up, the person starts goi g down.
    ( spirituality, emotionally ,physically …)

Sooner or later sin will reveal itself.
What’s done in the dark, will one day come to the light.
    Going something to nothing.

    Now is the time
TODAY is the day of salvation.
    Hallelujah 🙌
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
    In Jesus name.

  15. 11 The Lord hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

The fire is going to burn one way or the other. Either we will be on fire for Jesus now, or burn in the lake of fire. I’d rather have the all consuming fire refine me now .

  16. Lam. 4 : 3-4 ( amp) Even the jackals draw out the breast they give sack to their young ones, but the daughter of my people has become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness ( that desert the young).
    (4) The tongue of the nursing babe cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst; the young children beg for food, but no one gives it to them.
If you have the Holy Ghost you are a care- giver .
Our children who needs us to protect them ,cover them, make sure they are fed with knowledge and understanding God’s word.
    They need Jesus Too.
Matt. 19:14 (amp) But Jesus said, Leave the children alone ! Allow the little one to come to Me,and do not forbid or restrain or hinder them, for of such ( as these) the kingdom of heaven is composed.

  17. 22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

God’s word is true and he will accomplish what he’s says he will do. He will judge sin so it’s better to send it on before us through repentance than to allow it to catch up to us in judgement.

  19. 21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

Sin always gets exposed and really theres nothing we can do about it. Thats why we have to strive to live righteously everyday. Three nothing new under the sun and Jesus will always surface your sin weather its to you or to whoever.

  20. The Living Bible
    vs:21-22
    21
-Do you rejoice O people of Edom in the land of Uz? But you too will feel the awful anger of the Lord. 22-Israels exile for her sins will end at last but Edoms never.
This verse can be a scary though.
It is better even crucial. If you have sin in your life you must repent and get it right. If not you will have in restore what God has in plane for his people that have not repented.
    .

  21. Lamentations 4:4, “The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, but no man breaketh it unto them.”

The saying that came to my mind as I read this scripture was “Feed The Children.”
We have “the LORD, the Fountain of Living Water” (Jer. 17:13) and “The Bread of Life” (St. John 6:35) –
JESUS – living inside of us.
This is why we need to LIVE and GIVE JESUS2 Everyday, because there are thirsty and hungry souls out there to feed.

  22. See how the precious children of Jerusalem, worth their weight in fine gold, are now treated like pots of clay made by a common potter.
    Lamentations 4:2 NLT

We are worth so much to Jesus. He saw each of us as worth saving so how could we not love Him in return! Let’s never forget our first love and daily show gratitude for the life He blesses us with!! Thank You Lord for saving me!!

  23. Lamentations 4

22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

As in church today, the fox should have been struck down early on so the wrath of God would not have to come to them. Be wise and watch out for the fox.

  24. 11 The Lord hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

God Word is true!! He is the beginning and the end!
    Thank You Jesus!

  25. 21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.
22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he

Rejoice, even when it appears all is lost, rejoice..

We might have to go through something, but Jesus doesn’t send us alone. He is with us.

  26. 4 The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.

When we are hungry, the Lord will provide. God will will not let his children starve. He will take care of his people. He gives us strength and nourishment through his word. It is the word of the Lord that allows us to press forward.

  27. “People cried to them, “Go away! Unclean! Depart! Depart! Do not touch!” So they fled, then they wandered [as fugitives]; People among the nations said, “They shall not stay here any longer with us.””
    ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭4:15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

You have power in your tongue. When you speak it things change. We don’t have to allow unclean things in our hearts or our presence. We have the power to have it removed. All you have to do is open your mouth and speak it!

  28. 17 As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

    This world.
God has set up a life for every single one of us, we just have to make sure that we are going according to His plan. In the verse I have put above it said that the nation couldn’t save them. Only God can save. Why are you running back to the worldly things knowing that only God can save? Think about that question for a minute and fund your answer, because only you can answer that! I pray that you follow after God and His will only!!!

  29. 16 The anger of the Lord hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.

  30. “See how the precious children of Jerusalem, worth their weight in fine gold, are now treated like pots of clay made by a common potter.”
    ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

No matter what the enemy will always try to bring us down, he will use anyone that is with him and try to bring them into our lives to use them to bring us down. But we need to realize God made each of us for a specific reason. I pray tonight that no matter what we face we only listen to the Lord and his word, for he is our only true God. There is no one in this world that’ll love and protect you more than the Lord. I pray we never forget to give back to God, and to never forget who created you and he has always protected you.

  31. “The people who once ate the richest foods now beg in the streets for anything they can get. Those who once wore the finest clothes now search the garbage dumps for food.”
    ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭4:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Don’t glorify the natural because anything in the natural will fade. Many dress up the outward man while the inner man is crumpled on the ground awaiting for hope to come. Our looks, just as our words, are only as good as our actions behind them. I pray we stay in the Word so our relationship with Jesus will flourish and our inner man will be constantly revived.

  32. Lamentations Chapter 4

Reading this chapter has brought me to the new Testament. See

James 5:1- 20 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. 2 Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. 4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5 You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the righteous person. He does not resist you.

What does Jesus wants us to know?

7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. 10 As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. 12 But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. 19 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

May we walk according to this word.

  33. We looked in vain for our allies to come and save us, but we were looking to nations that could not help us.
    Lamentations 4:17 NLT

We must know that man cannot do what God can. He will allow certain situations in your life to show you who your God is.

  34. 1 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

I read this chapter and thought about how some of us let our fire go dim because we don’t reach out to God everyday like we should or live a life that is not of him and the only way we can brighten or light is by putting him first in everything. God put a fire in us all that becomes brighter everyday and don’t let us go dim.

  35. 1 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.
13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,
14 They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

We can aspire for more, we can become what God wants us to be, but if we do not keep our relationship with him and our thoughts and actions clean. Then the glimmer of Gold begins to flake. We have to repent daily, humble ourselves daily, talk to Him daily to gain the experience needed and to clean a clean heart. . . to not flake.

  36. “How the gold has lost its luster! Even the finest gold has become dull. The sacred gemstones lie scattered in the streets! See how the precious children of Jerusalem, worth their weight in fine gold, are now treated like pots of clay made by a common potter. Even the jackals feed their young, but not my people Israel. They ignore their children’s cries, like ostriches in the desert.”
    ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭4:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Know your value in the Kingdom! Do go back you common ground and lose your place in the Kingdom. We are a royal priesthood.

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:9-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬
