Ezekiel 33

Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;

Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?

11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.

16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

17 Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.

19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

20 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.

21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.

22 Now the hand of the Lord was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.

23 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

24 Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.

25 Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?

26 Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour’s wife: and shall ye possess the land?

27 Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.

28 For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.

29 Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.

30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the Lord.

31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

GOD is wanting for them to repent and do what is lawful and right. Right here in this passage GOD Will is for us to live and not die in sin. GOD is so merciful to still give them a chance to turn from their wicked ways. He is still the same yesterday, today , and forever more. The beauty of His Word is that it never passes away.

  2. Ezekiel 33
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

Sadly there will be those who will have opportunity to surrender their life to God yet will refuse.

    God remains faithful waiting
God is a just God but He will not tolerate this sinful world much longer.
Now is the day of salvation
We must keep our eyes on Jesus.

  3. 4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

The words of the prophets are the Word of God for us today. The written Word is mans warning to heed God’s plan of salvation.

6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

Today our watchman in the spiritual battle is the evangelist and pastors. Great responsibilities are upon the heads of thoes that preach the Word. Crafting a watered downed Gospel to build a church like a commercial business will have an eternal consequence for a pastor that engages in that endeavor.

  4. Ezekiel 33:11 & 14-16 (MSG)
    11) Tell them, As sure as I am the Living God, I take no pleasure from the death of the wicked. I want the wicked to change their ways and live. Turn your life around! Reverse your evil ways! Why die, Israel?

14-16) On the other hand, if I tell a wicked person, You’ll die for your wicked life, and he REPENTS of his sin and starts living a righteous and just life — being generous to the down-and-out, restoring what he had stolen, cultivating life-nourishing ways that don’t hurt others — he’ll live. He won’t die. None of his sins will be kept on the books. He’s doing what’s right, living a good life. He’ll live.

JESUS said in St. Luke 5:32, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to REPENTANCE.”
2 Peter 3:9b says, “…, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to REPENTANCE.”
1 Timothy 2:4 says, “Who will have all men to be SAVED, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

You see, God takes no pleasure in a sinner dying. It’s not His will that any should perish in their sins. You see, He came to call the sinner to REPENTANCE. He came so that all men might be SAVED, and LIVE. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have EVERLASTING LIFE, St. John 3:16).”
When a sinner REPENTS – changes his ways – turns his life around, and he starts living a righteous and just life, he will LIVE. He will have EVERLASTING LIFE through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD!!
    Thank You JESUS!!

    Merry Christmas POFW family!

The CHURCH. The Body of CHRIST. The Messengers of JESUS. The Mouthpiece of JESUS. We the CHURCH have a call, responsibility and opportunity to be the watchmen of the world.

We called to sound the alarm (Tell the world about JESUS and HIS Love for us). As the messenger John the Baptist was the messenger of the coming of JESUS as savior, we the CHURCH are to be the messengers of the coming of JESUS as redeemer.

On this Christmas Day, may we remember JESUS is the Reason for the Season and the Story behind the Glory. WE MUST TELL THEM ABOUT JESUS and the HOPE that HE has brought to the world.

  7. 31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

How sad it will be on judgement day for the Lord to say to a Holy Ghost filled, water baptized in Jesus Name saint, you heard my words, but you did not do them, you showed much love, but your heart was a far off, falling other things.

We must guard our hearts. We must take inventory to ensure that we do not have idols set up in our hearts. We are responsible for our souls. We can hear what the watchman is saying all the time, but if we do not heed what is being said, take it to heart, learn from it, then we will be just like this verse, our heart is whoring after other things.

  8. Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die.
    Ezekiel 33:4 NLT

The Bible describes the pastor as the man on the watchtower. It is not his job to make the people repent nor is a responsible if the people refuse to listen to the instructions he gives. But it is still the most dangerous job in this world, because he is called to instruct the people according to the word of the Lord, and to give guidance. It is a job that he has called to do, and in most instances not one he just chooses. A pastor’s job is one to be respected and honored. I was once told the greatest thing you can ever do for your pastor is just to be faithful

  9. You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t act on it! But when all these terrible things happen to them—as they certainly will—then they will know a prophet has been among them.”
    Ezekiel 33:32‭-‬33 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/ezk.33.32-33.NLT

Some things don’t change. I feel that this continues to go on today, despite the Lord’s efforts to turn hearts. But there will come a day that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess the name of Jesus!

  10. “And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭33:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Thousands of thousands of people have come into POFW. Been blessed, been born again of the water and filled with the HOLY GHOST.
Where are they? What are they currently doing? Did they think having a spiritual encounter with GOD was only for that day only?
I don’t understand this way of thinking. It breaks my heart to see so many people who once lived for Jesus Christ, to decide that living in bondage is so much better than living a dedicated life unto the LORD.
The sad thing about it all… as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ you’ve must let them go in hopes that they return. Hoping that it will not be to late. We’ve compelled, we’ve given the gospel. We must continue to work the field and bring in the harvest! Jesus as a body of believers help us! This is your KINGDOM your harvest. Give us favor in our region.

  11. 31 NKJV “So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain.”
    ‭‭
Actions speak louder than words. They claimed to receive God’s Word, but their behavior showed something different.
Their hearts were not fixed on God. Instead they were only interested in their own desires.
“ ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭NLT Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
    ‭‭

  12. Ezekiel 33:30-31
[30]“Son of man, your people talk about you in their houses and whisper about you at the doors. They say to each other, ‘Come on, let’s go hear the prophet tell us what the Lord is saying!’
[31]So my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money.

Don’t go to church just to say you went. We should live and give Jesus

  13. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER
“Yet your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just,’when it is their own way that is not just.”

This is the attitude of most folk today. People might not say it with words, but with actions they say it. When folk leave the church because they say the rules are too hard, in other words they are disagreeing with God requiring us to be just.

  14. 14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

The people ask in despair “ How can we then live..?” How many people today have lost all hope and are in depression and despair. The Lord’s answer is ; Repent! There is hope for the worst sinner, but the only hope is in turning from sin and not in condoning it. The people complained that God’s dealings with them were not just, but He denies this, reminding them that He will pardon a wicked man who confesses and forsakes his sin; also He will punish a righteous man who turns to wickedness.

  15. 31 – when this comes. — and come it will!
Then they will know that a prophet
    Has been among them.
    ——
When this comes, then they will….
The flesh wants to do what the flesh wants to do
Even when knowing and being told that that one thing
That is doing is not ok. ( unacceptable)

And of course after many warning that day comes
And then there is nothing else to do.
Why when it could have been prevented? Why?
Because the flesh is weak and wicked.
🙏🙏🙏 Lord, forgive me for those times that I have ignored your warnings on certain matters and also thank you Lord for there have also been time to where I have heard your voice and obey it also, changing the path
    And obeying your Holy Spirit.
👉🏼 For the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
    🙏🙏🙏
God bless everyone and Merry Christmas.

  16. 10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?

11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

The house of Israel was in sin, but God wanted them to know that he wanted them to live and not die. They just needed to turn from their evil ways. Thank God for his mercy and grace.

  17. Ezekiel 33: 7- 8 ( amp) So you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear the word ai My mouth and give them warning from Me.
    (8) When I say to the wicked ,O wicked man, you shall surely die,and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his perversity and inquiry, but his blood will require at your hand.
Now is the time to give yourself to Jesus.
Thank God we have Pastor and Sis Watts that loves all of Us and Prays For all of Us.
Church Family we are the watchman , Tell everyone about Jesus and that there is Hope and Love.
    Jesus is all we need.

  18. The Living Bible
    vs-9
But if you warn him to repent and he does not he will die in his sin, and you will not be responsible.

    Save yourself
Ezekiels warnings here and in chap-18 threatened physical death for those who persisted in disobeying God. If the prophet had failed to fullfill his commission , he would have become the disobedient , and subject to physical death himself.

  19. Ezekiel 33
6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

This is why the preacher must warn the people . People will die in their sins. If he doesn’t preach it then the people’s blood will be on his hands. People don’t receive what is being preached . This Watchman is having to take authority and speak so that the the blood of the people will not be on his hands . Even
Thi this is in the old we must preach the truth . We must heed the word that God is speaking to the watchman. The watchman is warning them. We cannot get mad at messenger biy. He is delivering the message. When the pastor says something we don’t like be thankful that he is speaking the word , giving warning to us ! Be thankful for the preacher that preaches the truth . I am so thankful for our Pastor who speaks the word with authority and boldness .
Some preachers have had the truth revealed to them and they will not preach truth . They know it but will not tell it . The wrath of God is already coming upon them. When we are teaching we must teach what God has given. Ezekiel had to preach what God was telling him. It is up to us whether we head the warning of what is being preached to us . Don’t judge the man of God that is preaching truth .

  20. 7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

The bible gives us a command to watch and pray. You never know when the enemy is going to try to hit you with something to bring you down. As the children of God, we must always be on alert. Watching and praying at all times. We must be ready for what’s coming because the enemy is always busy trying to destroy us.

  21. So my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money. You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t act on it!
    Ezekiel 33:31‭-‬32 NLT

Walking the walk and talking the talk isn’t always good enough. In regards to salvation, the only person you’d be fooling is yourself.

With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
    Psalm 119:10‭-‬11 KJV

Serve with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. In every aspect, seek ye first the Kingdom of God.

  22. Ezekiel’s 33
7 Son of man, I have made you a watcman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

We all need Jesus to lead us to a Godly person like our Pastor. We need to hear the word of our Lord and take the warning to stay away from the enemy.
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  23. Proverbs 25
‘By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, And a soft tongue breaketh the bone. ‘
    Proverbs 25:15

Most folks in todays generation wants to get loud and tell you a piece of their mind, but the Word says a “soft tongue” breaks the bone. Wow

  24. “If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭33:8-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So thankful for the watchmen in my life. Their responsibility is great. But the one thing I’m most thankful for is the boldness to not back down from telling the truth. The truth is not always easy but it’s still right. If we don’t take heed to the warning that is no ones fault but our own.

  25. v6 Buy if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned: if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchmen’s hand.

    Greater Kingdom
We must watch to see what God will say to us !
Intercessory prayer cannot be taken lightly.
God knows that if we are watching, we are concern about His purposes.

  26. 13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

If we turn to evil ways and iniquity it doesn’t matter how long we live right God’s judgement will be upon us. Because a season of righteousness will never over rule a lifetime of righteous living. We do not get to pick and choose when to be righteous, to whom to be righteous to, or how often we should live righteous. God is calling us to consistent faithfulness regardless of the season we are in.

  27. 4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

One chance. One chance is all we have. One chance by meaning when that day comes of the Lords arrival, we must be ready. There is no going back or last minute things on this day. We must humble ourselves unto Him. We should be using the days in time present as days to prepare ourselves for the Lords return. Since we know what is right, we should not be second guessing and doing our own thing. Everyday is a day closer to His arrival. He can come at any moment. You also never know when you might pass, so we also must be aware of this. I pray tonight that you are living up everyday to the fullest in His kingdom. Not a day should go by that God isn’t present in your day. Let’s all stay close and together with God, as we share His gospel to the hungry and lost!!!

  28. “When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭33:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://bible.com/bible/116/ezk.33.3.NLT

    The responsibility of the watchman
When we were called out of the miry clay and into his marvelous light we were called to reach those and watch out for those that are falling away. Reach out to a brother today and fellowship about the gospel talk about the good news and what Jesus is doing in our midst

  29. “But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭33:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s our commission to spread the Word everywhere we go. We don’t have to force the Word on pepper but we should carry ourselves as ambassadors of Christ. We should be a witness! Jesus I thank You for being the Word. I pray we live and give Jesus anywhere we go and expect He will do greater things!

  30. “But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭33:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We have to be leaders. God brought us here to be leaders he trusted us to go out and grow his kingdom, help guide the lost, help guide those who have lost battles to the enemy. Yes there will be many people who will try and get others to listen that you are spreading false news but we can’t let them get to us cause In that crowd there will be people listening, they will be willing to change and go unto the Lord forever. We cannot let the enemy overcome us no matter what. But remember we must put our relationship with God first, no matter who you’re trying to help.

  31. 4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

The original, “Your blood is on your own hands,” or “their blood is on your hands.” “. . . whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; . . . He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him.” Take your warning! Every Sunday we get a warning and life lesson and a put in a position to make a deduction. Will you listen to His calling?? Will you listen to the yearning heartbeat? Will you listen for the beckoning?? Don’t kill yourself! Don’t wash blood off of your hands later!!

  32. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

The responsibility is not only for the man of God or the preacher, or minister, but also for every single person. Once we hear we need to act and respond.

I understand I cannot physically make anyone have a relationship with Jesus.

I understand that no one can make ME have a relationship with Jesus. They can only influence, encourage, and at times correct my ways to lead me to a relationship with Him. However it has to be my own choice and desire to build a relationship with Him. Same for everyone else.

Now, this does not excuse us from sharing and telling others about Jesus. This does not excuse us from influencing, encouraging, and at times correcting others to lead them to a relationship with Him.

If you were to notice someone about to make the biggest mistake of their life, we would do all we could to warn them.

Not. Having. A. Relationship. With. Jesus. Is. The. Biggest. Mistake. Of. Anyones. Life.

I pray we are encouraged to share Jesus with one someone…anyone…everyone! It’s the biggest decision of their life!

  34. Verses 12-13 MSG “There’s more, son of man. Tell your people, ‘A good person’s good life won’t save him when he decides to rebel, and a bad person’s bad life won’t prevent him from repenting of his rebellion. A good person who sins can’t expect to live when he chooses to sin. It’s true that I tell good people, “Live! Be alive!” But if they trust in their good deeds and turn to evil, that good life won’t amount to a hill of beans. They’ll die for their evil life.” You have to be either all in or all out! You have to choose to LIVE-GIVE JESUS² every day and just say “NO” to sin, period! 1John 4:4 AMP tells us “Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].” You are GREATER!
