Ezekiel 34

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock.

The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.

And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.

My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.

Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

10 Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

11 For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.

12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.

14 I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.

15 I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God.

16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

17 And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.

18 Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet?

19 And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.

20 Therefore thus saith the Lord God unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle.

21 Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad;

22 Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.

23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

24 And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.

25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.

26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.

27 And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.

28 And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.

30 Thus shall they know that I the Lordtheir God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God.

31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.

  1. 11 For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.

    GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever!
    Hallelujah! GOD Is So Good!

  2. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I now consider these shepherds my enemies, and I will hold them responsible for what has happened to my flock. I will take away their right to feed the flock, and I will stop them from feeding themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths; the sheep will no longer be their prey.
    Ezekiel 34:10 NLT

    The book of James, chapter 3 tells us ” be not many Masters, knowing this, that we shall all receive a greater condemnation” Masters is translated to teacher or leader and reveals to us that god holds those in leadership to a higher standard than those that are being led. Moses was unable to enter into the promised Land because he had disobeyed God in front of all the people, God had mercy on him but he was punished nonetheless. Whoever we are leading, we need to be very careful and mindful to be setting the example

  3. Ezekiel 34
    12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

    Message
    ’ll lead them into lush pasture so they can roam the mountain pastures of Israel, graze at leisure, feed in the rich pastures on the mountains of Israel. And I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep. I myself will make sure they get plenty of rest. I’ll go after the lost, I’ll collect the strays, I’ll doctor the injured, I’ll build up the weak ones and oversee the strong ones so they’re not exploited.

    How deep is the Shepherd ‘s love for the sheep? He seeks a d seeks for His sheep. The wounded , the confused, the addict, the homosexual, the grieving, the list is endlessly consuming. Yet The Shepherd wants to heal ,to rescue. Oh how great is the love of the Shepherd.

    11 Peter 3:9
    9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

  5. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! What a great victory we are offered beyond the grave! In our reading today great comfort is found in knowing “For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.” God will search and look for the last lost sheep until its found and offer himself to save the what appeared to be insignificant. Thank you Lord for loving me.

    THE BURDEN OF A SHEPHERD

    7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;
    8 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;
    9 Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

    Those that may approach Preaching as a Profession are darkly misled. Ministry comes with great responsibility, ministry is not mind games and team building. Ministry in the eyes of the one with whom we have to do is caring for people. Often people that refuse to care for themselves and often fail to realize that the shepherd is not the boss or controller of a group of people, BUT a messenger, protector and instructor.

    The LORD took issue with the failure of Ministry in the fallout of Israel and took over as SHEPHERD. Now as Ministry we serve at HIS pleasure in HIS field. We also see that GOD held the people accountable for their actions as he will again at judgement. We are wise to follow the shepherd that GOD has placed in our lives that we may continue to be the SHEEP of HIS PASTURE.

    Psalm 95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

    Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

  7. Verses 25-31 CEV, these verses are captioned “A Bright Future for the Lord’s Sheep” and says “The Lord God said: The people of Israel are my sheep, and I solemnly promise that they will live in peace. I will chase away every wild animal from the desert and the forest, so my sheep will not be afraid. They will live around my holy mountain,[c] and I will bless them by sending more than enough rain to make their trees produce fruit and their crops to grow. I will set them free from slavery and let them live safely in their own land. Then they will know that I am the Lord. Foreign nations will never again rob them, and wild animals will no longer kill and eat them. They will have nothing to fear. I will make their fields produce large amounts of crops, so they will never again go hungry or be laughed at by foreigners. Then everyone will know that I protect my people Israel. I, the Lord, make this promise. They are my sheep; I am their God, and I take care of them.” We must remain focused (remain faithful and obedient), do our part (share the gospel as we were commissioned to do) and God will do the rest!

  8. vs-25
    I will make a peace pact with them, and drive away the dangerous animals from the land so that my people can safely camp in the wildest places and sleep safely in the woods.
    The covenant of peace
    This Covenant is mentioned in chapter 37 and 39. It is not the same as the New Covenant , but will be initiated after the New is fulfilled. Under it God will remove foreign nations, shower blessings on Israel and her land, and guarantee complete security. At that time Gods people will realize He is the Lord , and the people will be totally dedicated to His ways.

  9. Ezekiel 34:11-13,15-16
    [11]“For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search and find my sheep.
    [12]I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day.
    [13]I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers and in all the places where people live.
    [15]I myself will tend my sheep and give them a place to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign Lord.
    [16]I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them, yes—feed them justice!

    Luke 15:4-7
    [4]“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?
    [5]And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.
    [6]When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’
    [7]In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

  10. 16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

    This is Apostolic. This is what the Church, the body of Christ was called to do. We are to seek the lost, restore, bind up the broken, strength and heal the sick, destroy the yokes of bondage in their lives through prayer, and pray until Christ is formed in each of them.

    Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

    19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

  11. 16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

    God seeks the lost and wants everyone to be saved. The Lord is pure and holy and His nature requires Him to judge sin, which will be dealt upon those that reject His plan of salvation.

  12. Ezekiel 34:11-12 & 15-16
    11) For thus saith the LORD God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
    12) As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where thy have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

    15) I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the LORD God.
    16) I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which is broken, and will strengthen that which was sick:…

    All “we were as sheep going astray (1 Pet. 2:25),” we were scattered and lost…
    BUT
    JESUS is the Good Shepherd (St. John 10:11), and HE came “to seek and to save that which was lost (St. Luke 19:10).
    HE came to Deliver!
    HE came to Feed Us!
    HE came to give Us Rest and Peace!
    HE came to Bind Up The Broken!
    HE came to Heal The Sick!
    AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!!!!

    HE is the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls. (1 Pet. 2:25)

  13. 22 therefore will I save my flock
    And they shall no more be a pray and I will judge between cattle and cattle.

    Again, God is righteous and he does and acts right and with justice
    He has perfect timing!
    He has not forget his promises
    And sees it all.

    Lean not unto your own understanding
    But in all of your ways acknowledge him
    And He shall direct your path.

  14. Ezekiel 30:31 ( amp) Then shall they know positively that I, the Lord their God,am with them,and that they ,the house of Israel,and that they, the house of Israel, are My people,says the Lord God.
    31) And that you,My sheep, the sheep of My pasture,are only men,and I am your God,says the Lord God.
    Prov. 27: 23 ( amp) Be diligent to know the state of your flocks and look well to your herds.
    Thank you Jesus for a Shepard, he will search for those who have stray away, and he will renewed their lives back to him.
    Jesus is Here to Save The Lost.

  15. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.

    7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

    8 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

    How this breaks my hearts as I cry to the Lord BRING OUR PRODIGALS HOME!!! Go search high and low and tog on their heart oh Lord!!! Bring our children home!!! In Jesus Holy Name Amén

  16. 8 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

    When God entrust his people to a leader, he expects them to be led according to his word. When leaders begin to stray away from the directions of God and try to do their own thing, they start leading the people of God astray. God does not agree with this and will punish those who are guilty.

  17. Ezekiel 34
    God will seek out His sheep, Israel, though guilty and misguided, they would eventually be rescued and restored to the Promised Land. We must be led by a strong Shepard and do what we can to by bring others to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
    Thank you Jesus for this day.

  18. Greater Zeal
    Wherever we serve in the body of Jesus Christ, let us gladly serve as His ministers to the needs of others.

  19. 7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

    8 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

    9 Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

    10 Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

    God is determined to rescue His sheep from these false shepherds. But all the time He has blessing in mind, and so He will gather the sheep and take care of individual needs. The greatest blessing will be the relation between the Lord and His sheep, an intimate fellowship between God and man.

  20. Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord;

    8 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;

    I can’t imagine life without a shepherd. Roaming through life without the ma of God giving direction and vision. That is not life all
    We all need Shepherd.

  21. I myself will tend my sheep and give them a place to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign Lord. I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them, yes—feed them justice!
    Ezekiel 34:15‭-‬16 NLT

    So much grace. We truly serve an awesome God. He knows us and He loves us. Thank You Lord for saving me!!

  22. And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.
    Ezekiel 34:5 KJV

    Without a shepherd all you are is but meat to the beasts of the field. The enemy goes around like a roaring lion but if you get out of the fence of protection and from under your covering..there will be no more roaring but devouring.

  23. 15 I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God.

    It’s time for the harvest. Be ready. Get ready. See the ready. I pray tonight that we are seeing what God is putting forth and doing according to the plan.

  24. “I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them, yes—feed them justice!”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭34:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    There will always be a place for each of us in the kingdom of the Lord. As we’re making sure our relationship with God is growing and getting stronger daily, we need to show the Lord we are fully committed to him show him that he is able to use you gather those who have lost their way show them God will forever love them and he is a God that forgives and renews. No matter what God will always protect his children, there’s no need for us to be filled with fear, when God is on your side nothing can overcome you.

  25. The Kingdom of Heaven is Greater
    This chapter gives us the revelation of how God wants his shepherd over the flock. The Lord has blessed the POFW with a great shepherd who loves people. The shepherds in this passage only used the sheep for their own gain, but God desires a shepherd who loves people not gain.

  26. Proverbs 26
    Pro 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

    We could all have a lot more peace in the world if we would take the wood off the fire

  27. God ’s Message came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherd-leaders of Israel. Yes, prophesy! Tell those shepherds, ‘ God, the Master, says: Doom to you shepherds of Israel, feeding your own mouths! Aren’t shepherds supposed to feed sheep? You drink the milk, you make clothes from the wool, you roast the lambs, but you don’t feed the sheep. You don’t build up the weak ones, don’t heal the sick, don’t doctor the injured, don’t go after the strays, don’t look for the lost. You bully and badger them. And now they’re scattered every which way because there was no shepherd—scattered and easy pickings for wolves and coyotes. Scattered— my sheep! —exposed and vulnerable across mountains and hills. My sheep scattered all over the world, and no one out looking for them! (Ezekiel 34:1-6 MSG)

    These passage of scripture makes be very thankful for a diligent shepherd. Who number one passion is to please The Lord.

    Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds; (Proverbs 27:23 AMP)

    This verse reminds me of Christ who is known as the good shepherd in John 10:11. What an example to have and to become like the great shepherd. God’s people are often referred to as sheep in the bible (Matt. 25:31-33). This verse challenges me to be diligent with Gods people that have been placed in our care. It’s a great miracle to receive salvation through baptism in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost, but your journey has just beginning. Remember your destination is HEAVEN.

    DILIGENT in the Strong’s Concordance means- to know (properly, to ascertain by seeing) care, instruction, familiar friend….

    STATE in the Strong’s Concordance means- face, countenance or presence of a person.

    Knowing our fellow brothers and sisters face to face is one of the keys to great growth as a church body. And we are challenged in this verse to know the state of flocks.

    And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (Acts 2:46, 47 KJV)

  28. 29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
    30 Thus shall they know that I the Lordtheir God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God.
    31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.

    What a mighty God we serve.
    What a mighty God we serve.
    Angels bow before Him.
    Heaven and earth adore Him.
    What a mighty God we serve.

    We are His flock. He raises us up, gives us strength, and keeps us whole! He is mighty and we cannot compare or begin to measure anything else up to him.

  29. 12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

    God refers to the church as the flock.God said he delivered the sheep out of dark places God has brought some of us out of dark places.

  30. “I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.”

    In seasons there will be showers, showers of blessing, showers of trial, and showers of tribulations. We need to prepare each one the same. By giving Jesus the praise the deserves and the worship he deserves. Lift up the name of the Lord everybody l….in every season

  31. “You drink the milk, wear the wool, and butcher the best animals, but you let your flocks starve.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭34:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    I thank God for a shepherd who cares, who feeds the flock God has given him to watch over. I thank God we have a shepherd who is invested in our growth in the Kingdom. I thank God for a shepherd who shares his downfalls and sees us all as children of God who can all go before the King.

  32. In the last days. Good will do the same for us. Provide. He is the God that never leaves his people behind.

    ““And I will make their land famous for its crops, so my people will never again suffer from famines or the insults of foreign nations.”
    ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭34:29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  33. The orchards and fields of my people will yield bumper crops, and everyone will live in safety. When I have broken their chains of slavery and rescued them from those who enslaved them, then they will know that I am the Lord. You are my flock, the sheep of my pasture. You are my people, and I am your God. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”
    Ezekiel 34:27‭, ‬31 NLT

    Lord, You keep us under the shadow of your wings. You keep us in refuge. You keep us in a holy place of sanctuary.
