Ezra 6

Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house:

And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.

Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:

Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:

10 That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

12 And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

13 Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.

14 And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15 And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

17 And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18 And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

19 And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.

20 For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

  1. 20 For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

    JESUS is our strength!
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You JESUS!

  2. Ezra 6:14 (NLT), “So the Jewish elders Continued Their WORK, and they were GREATLY Encouraged by the PREACHING of the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo. The Temple was finally Finished, as had been commanded by the God of Israel and decreed by Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes, the kings of Persia.”

The PREACHING of the Word of God by the Man of God should always GREATLY ENCOURAGE us to Continue To WORK until the WORK is FINISHED for God’s Kingdom!

    GREATER PREACHING
    GREATER ENCOURAGEMENT
GREATER WORK until It Is FINISHED

  3. “Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-boznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence: let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Hallelujah!!!

All hindering is removed. We the Pofw/LPDFW continue building in HIS Kingdom alone. As here in this chapter, the process may feel somewhat slow, but NO Disease, Death, Divisions, shall hinder the work of the LORD.
We must continue the work. You can count me in. Thank the LORD for laborers who isn’t afraid to get their hands and knees dirty for such a time as this.

“We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭9:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  4. 8 NLT ““Moreover, I hereby decree that you are to help these elders of the Jews as they rebuild this Temple of God. You must pay the full construction costs, without delay, from my taxes collected in the province west of the Euphrates River so that the work will not be interrupted.”

God will remove all obstacles that can get in the way of His will being fulfilled.

  5. Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.
    Ezra 6:22 NLT

There’s something enriching and powerful when the people come together to complete a work in the Lord and are completely engulfed in the workings of God and allowing him to do his good works. It is an amazing experience whenever people are able to find their place in the church and in the work of God and able to rejoice with their brothers and sisters in Christ

  6. Verse 2 MSG “In Ecbatana in the fortress (palace) in the province of Media, a scroll was found on which this was recorded: “Memorandum—…..”. Though the adversaries meant this search for evil, the opposite was found . Psalm 21:11 NLT says “ Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.”

Verses 6-7 MSG “Now listen, Tattenai governor of the land beyond the Euphrates, Shethar-Bozenai, associates, and all officials of that land: Stay out of their way. Leave the governor and leaders of the Jews alone so they can work on that Temple of God as they rebuild it.” One must be very careful of getting in the way of what God has ordered/planned. Verses 11-12 MSG says “If any of you don’t obey this order, a wooden beam will be taken from your house and sharpened on one end. Then it will be driven through your body,[d] and your house will be torn down and turned into a garbage dump. I ask the God who is worshiped in Jerusalem to destroy any king or nation who tries either to change what I have said or to tear down his temple. I, Darius, give these orders, and I expect them to be followed carefully.” As these people were warned by the king to not get in the way of the rebuilding, we too should heed the warning of getting in the way of what God has ordained. Be obedient, be part of the building, be GREATER!

  7. 7. Do not disturb the construction of the Temple of God. Let it be rebuilt on its original site, and do not hinder the governor of Judah and the elders of the Jews in their work.

    8. “Moreover, I hereby decree that you are to help these elders of the Jews as they rebuild this Temple of God. You must pay the full construction costs, without delay, from my taxes collected in the province west of the Euphrates River so that the work will not be interrupted.

    9. “Give the priests in Jerusalem whatever is needed in the way of young bulls, rams, and male lambs for the burnt offerings presented to the God of heaven. And without fail, provide them with as much wheat, salt, wine, and olive oil as they need each day. NLT

Like the king declared the unrestricted rebuilding of the temple, the King of Kings has declared UNRESTRICTED REVIVAL for POFW…and this is the year of GREATER….so hang on, here we grow!

  8. vs-1
So King Darius issued orders that a search be made in the Babylon archives, where documents were stored.

While this may seem strange place to store records, excavations at Persepolis where records of the reign of Darius were discovered, show that the record storage rooms were in fact associated with treasury.

  9. Then the priests and Levites were divided into their various divisions to serve at the Temple of God in Jerusalem, as prescribed in the Book of Moses.
    Ezra 6:18 NLT

The Book of Leviticus is to the Jews what some of the Epistles are to us now as Christians. They gave an account of all the details pertaining to the requirements for the priests and the workers of the Temple.
And I’m grateful they took time to record all of this. Whether we are brand new or rebuilding and repairing we have the Word of God as a literal instruction manual to guide us through!

  10. GREATER
    JOY IN COMPLETION

16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

Man in our carnal ways is continually seeking an easier path to accomplish the work of GOD. But when we realize the JOY in completing our journey with GOD here on earth, no matter how long or hard it is, we will hear those eternal words of JOY.

    Enter IN!

Our lives are much like the temple here. We are the building that GOD is building. We will be overcome with JOY as we are dedicated to the LORD. Just as we dedicated the building there at 10264 Westpoint Blvd. We joyed and celebrated its completion. Now we look forward to GREATER and another building to dedicate to JESUS.

May the hand of the LORD help us to labor together for that purpose.

  11. 5 And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.

I know this verse is speaking of furniture pieces, vessels, but when I read it immediately it came to my mind the “vessels of the Spirit – people.” I’m believing that as we rebuild POFW to be greater than the former, the vessels that the enemies has stolen through deception, lost passion, lost fire will be restored everyone to their place – the glory of the Lord.

  12. 22 and kept the feast of the unleavened bread
Seven days with joy, for the Lord had made them joyful
And turned the heart of the king-of Assyria unto them
To strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God
    The God of Israel.

    —-
    Hallelujah 🙌
👉🏼 Yes, it was God who did this. It was the Lord who caused this to happen , his mercy, his love, his goodness.
Is there anything too hard for the Lord?
    The answer is No!
    Hallelujah 🙌
    The joy of the Lord
    Is my strength.
    Hallelujah 🙌
    Rejoice in the Lord, always
    I say it again; REJOICE.
👉🏼 I will bless the Lord
At all times, and his praise shall
    Continually be in my mouth.
This is the day, that the Lord has made
We will rejoice, and be glad in it.

  13. Ezra 6: 22 ( amp) They kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy ; for the Lord had made them joyful ,and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria [ referring to Darius king of Persia] to them, so that he stengthened their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
As we get our foundation right of God and his commands.
I am so grateful for Word of the Lord, and his direction.
    .

  14. “Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we do the work of the Lord, we are covered by the favor of the Lord. Don’t stress about how it will get done. Just know, if it is God’s Will it’s already done!! Thank You Jesus for Your favor

  15. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! What a mighty God we serve! He can do anything!
    5. And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.
Yes Yes Yes!!! All can be restored! God can do it!

  16. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Worship will lead to joy and when we are in the will of the Lord we will be given support, even though enemies of our faith abound.

  17. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

The people of God must learn to separate themselves from the things of this world. You cannot be holy and carnal at the same time. Choose you this day whom you will serve. We’re not separating ourselves from people, we are separating ourselves from sin. Just because we work and maybe even live with those who operate in sin, it doesn’t mean we do not need to be friendly. If we are going to tell them about Jesus, they need to see the God in us.

  18. Ezra 6:22
The Kingdom of God is GREATER
And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

When a man’s ways please the LORD he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. The Lord is good to his people and turns their captivity into favor.

  19. 1 Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

2 And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

4 With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house

  20. 16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.
We do our work for the Lord with joy.

  21. Ezra 6

22 Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.

Great joy! At church today we had great joy in worshipping the Lord. It was so awesome that we had three people baptized in Jesus name. Also I believe two received the Holy Spirit. Without the joy we had st church, I don’t think that would have happened.
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  22. Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s aim is to give us great joy in Him and His sovereign ways.
Joy and gladness in the Lord are not minor themes in the Bible. Moses told Israel in
    Deut 12:5,7
But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto f his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:
[7] And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put g your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

    Later he warned them

    Deuteronomy 28:47-48 KJV
[47] Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things ; [48] Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things : and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

  23. 8 Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

The King not only told the detractors to leave the Jews alone and let them build, but to give them everything that they needed to finish the job.

  24. “In the first year of King Cyrus, the king issued a decree concerning the temple of God in Jerusalem: Let the temple be rebuilt as a place to present sacrifices, and let its foundations be laid. It is to be sixty cubits high and sixty cubits wide, with three courses of large stones and one of timbers. The costs are to be paid by the royal treasury.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:3-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we come into the house of the Lord we should offer a sacrifice unto Him, we should give Him our all and lay down our flesh.

  25. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

Everyday we need to separate ourselves from our flesh, the Bible says DAILY. The less flesh we have hindering us the closer we can seek God.

  26. Proverbs 30:9

Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

Rich folk don’t need God. This is how it is just bout nearly impossible for them to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Folks who need nothing rarely need God

  27. 17 And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

We should always be giving Him a good offering and giving Him our best. He should always be the center of each and everyone of our lives. He should also we be first. I pray tonight that we are all putting Him first everyday as we bring our offerings unto Him with a thankful heart!

  28. “The Passover meal was eaten by the people of Israel who had returned from exile and by the others in the land who had turned from their corrupt practices to worship the Lord, the God of Israel.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We need to learn how not to care about what or how this world feels about us. Seek Gods approval not this worlds, and let God use you to influence your friends who have lost their way or those who have been lost since the begging. I pray tonight that we are choosing to seek God and follow after him, even though the temptations of the world are there God can and will help you overcome. Let us give thanks unto the Lord daily for he deserves it all, he does all for us!

  29. “And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God had set us apart from those of the world. We must learn to seperate ourselves. We are in this world but not of the world. We can’t tend to the unclean things of this world. We have to set ourselves apart and be that example to those lost souls. Can’t win souls to Christ if your trying to blend in.

  30. 16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

It was but natural that they should rejoice at such a moment, for the house of their God was the expression of all the blessings of the covenant in which they stood. And at length after weary years of failure, difficulties, disappointment, and sorrow, it stood completed before their eyes. It was for this that they had been brought up out of Babylon, and if any of them had sown in tears they now reaped in joy.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  31. Ezra 6:16,18
[16]The Temple of God was then dedicated with great joy by the people of Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the rest of the people who had returned from exile.

[18]Then the priests and Levites were divided into their various divisions to serve at the Temple of God in Jerusalem, as prescribed in the Book of Moses.

There are plenty of ways to serve in Temple of God

  32. And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

When it is the will of God, there is nothing or no one that can go against it or prevent it. For God will see to it that it comes to pass.

  33. ““This was their answer: ‘We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the Temple that was built here many years ago by a great king of Israel.”
    Ezra 5:11 NLT

God is wanting to break generational curses and move in our life. Let us prepare and make ourselves available, for God to transform our lives to what He is calling us to be. We are designed broken to be fixed by Jesus so that we can be a testimony to this world that has lost hope. God is calling the church, for such a time like this to move the mission and preach the good news to the ends of the earth.

  34. 16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

“. . . rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.” I feel as though this passage is continually talking about the children in captivity and in this verse also talks about their joy in God for a reason. Even in their sorrow, sad times, captivity and strife they found their joy in God. Can you say the same? I know it’s hard, but this it what I strive for in my own life.

  35. Greater Faithfulness

The Bible indicates that God will reward us for our faithfulness to His cause.
Matthew 25:20-23 He will invite us to enter into the joy of the Lord, and He will not forget what we have done for His cause . The world and the church may not be aware, but God records everything that we do for Him.
We will never lose when we put our energies into the work of saving souls.

  36. 7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

The king made this decree knowing that rebuilding the temple would be met with opposition as well as challenges. His forethought and wisdom were well spoken here to aid the Hebrew peoples in going back to their homeland. God placed this man here for this season to accomplish his will.

  37. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

God will always make a way for those serving and seeking after Him!
