40 Days of FIRE – Day 22 – Acts Chapter 22

Day 22: Ch.22. Paul is an example of a transformed life. Today he confronts an angry crowd that he would have gladly participated in just a few years earlier. Prayerfully thank God for His ongoing work of transforming your life and for the power of the Holy Ghost that preserves and sustains us.

Acts 22

Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

(And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:

20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.

27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

29 Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.

30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

  1. 22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

Up to is point the Jews had been listening to Paul quietly. But his mention of going to yet Gentiles with the gospel aroused insane jealousy and hatred. Chanting furiously in wild disorder they cried out for Paul’s life. They didn’t want anything with Paul’s message, but they also didn’t want anybody else to have what they has refused. That is pure jealousy.

  2. 20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

Witnessing to thoes that appear to have no intest in the Gospel can be discouraging. The Lord has the ability to change the heart, we just need to do our part and be obedient to the Lord’s will, and He will do the rest.

  3. 13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight.

    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  4. The high priest and the whole council of elders can testify that this is so. For I received letters from them to our Jewish brothers in Damascus, authorizing me to bring the followers of the Way from there to Jerusalem, in chains, to be punished.
Acts of the Apostles 22:5 NLT

Never get tired of your own testimony. The Bible has Paul’s writing and recounts the events of his conversion multiple times at almost every opportunity that he can just to talk about how God transformed his life. We are presented with opportunities to share the good news and to tell people about what God has done for us, and we should look for every chance to do so. We never know who needs to hear it or what people are going through that might relate to our testimony and need to hear it

  5. 28. And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

Jesus paid a great sum to obtain our freedom from sin, so that we could be free born into His Kingdom.

    Jesus paid it all
    All to Him I owe

Sin had left a crimson stain

He washed it white as snow.

  6. Verses 12-13 MSG “And that’s when I met Ananias, a man with a sterling reputation in observing our laws—the Jewish community in Damascus is unanimous on that score. He came and put his arm on my shoulder. ‘Look up,’ he said. I looked, and found myself looking right into his eyes—I could see again!” What a revelation and a literal eye-opening experience for Saul (Paul). Paul was about to learn what his true calling was as we read in verses 14-16 MSG “Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has handpicked you to be briefed on his plan of action. You’ve actually seen the Righteous Innocent and heard him speak. You are to be a key witness to everyone you meet of what you’ve seen and heard. So what are you waiting for? Get up and get yourself baptized, scrubbed clean of those sins and personally acquainted with God.’” Are we ready to get up, get scrubbed clean and personally acquainted with God in a way and in manner than ever before? Let us be GREATER acquainted with our God and be GREATER witnesses!

  7. Revelation 12: 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The word of your TESTIMONY!!!! Never stop telling people what God has done for you!!! Hallelujah!!! He picked me up from the muddy clay and put my feet on solid ROCK!!! He cleaned me up, HE HEALED MY BODY, He saved my soul! Tell EVERYONE YOU SEE!!! SALVATION IS HERE NOW! TODAY!

  8. Acts 22: 14: 15-16 ( amp) For you will be His witness unto all men of everything that you have seen and heard.
( 16) And now, why do you delay Rise and be baptized, and by calling upon His name wash away your sins.
So what are you waiting ,repent and get yourself Baptized in Jesus name.
There are so many miracles and Healings happening at Pofw now!
Come to church and receive your healing and a miracle today.
There nothing to hard that my God can’t do.
Greater than Greater is yet to Come in Jesus name.

  9. 2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

Paul got on some folks level this day. The most powerful thing he used from his arsenal was his testimony. Paul used the Hebrew language and got their attention but then he just shared how God called him. When I first got the holy ghost I heard a lot of people say “you’re like Paul” well really I’m just being apostolic. When you get the holy ghost it wasn’t long ago when you were living just like the people that surround you. You’re not the only one God wants to call but he chose to use you to witness to those in pain, those who are damaged, those who are broken, those whose faith has dwindled down to nothing. God has chose you for this day.

  10. “‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked. “And the voice replied, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, the one you are persecuting.’ The people with me saw the light but didn’t understand the voice speaking to me.
Acts of the Apostles 22:8‭-‬9 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.22.8-9.NLT

It never specifies if Jesus spoke to Paul in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, or another language. But the others accompanying him to Damascus could t understand Jesus.
When speaking directly to us God will always use our native language so that we can understand!

  11. 30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

Paul knew the general plan; but just like us, he didn’t know how it would all work out. He had to trust God, just like every believer.

  12. 6-8 NKJV ““Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ So I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’”
    ‭‭
We all have a testimony of how JESUS has changed our lives. And we must be ready and willing to share it with all who will listen.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭NLT “Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.”
    ‭‭

  13. Acts of the Apostles 22:16
What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’

Being baptized in the name of Jesus and your sins washed away is a peaceful and beautiful moment. Thank you Jesus

  14. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! 9And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

  15. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

We have all been called and chosen of God. Saul/Paul has a mighty testimony that leaves us no excuses. So why tarriest thou?? Rise
up and let’s do the great work of the Lord today in Jesus Name!

  16. 30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

Sometimes GOD’S will isnt what we think it to be! Maybe we would have done things differently but GOD!!! HE KNOWS ALL THINGS!!! It can be one of the hardest things to do, is to trust GOD’S will and walk into the uncertainty …….but once you’ve passed that part…..it’s on!!! When I struggle with trust I ask GOD to bring to my remembrance everything HE has done for me and when I remember, struggling to trust HIM, IS OVER!!! GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO ME WHY WOULDN’T I JUST TRUST HIM!!! Often i find that walking into the uncertainty is actually exciting to me cause I can’t wait to see what GOD IS GOING TO DO!!! I KNOW IT’S GREATER !!! HALELUJAH!!!

  17. 10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

Even when we do wrong, we are still loved by God. We all make mistakes, it doesn’t make us less unto God. God still has a purpose for us because God is merciful. Therefore if God can be merciful even when you make a mistake then we should be humbled to realize and take responsibility for our actions and repent.

  18. “And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: and when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Thankful and blessed for the blood that was shed on Calvary for for me!!! Being born again of the water and the Spirit has me here today.
When Paul mentioned his past(sins) to Jesus , we never once heard Jesus tell Paul in response to his statement “you’re right” I remember that.
Many people have been baptized in the name of Jesus, repented, and filled with the Holy Ghost. But have failed to forgive and let go of their past.
So what they do is go back into the world to be bound by sin again. The enemy brings condemnation and confusion to their minds, instead of Trusting in the Lord Jesus.

    …’His grace is sufficient…’

“As far as the east is from the west, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭103:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  19. GREATER
    TRUTH IS MY DEFENCE

1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

It is common practice for people to make defence by speaking words that are desired rather than words that are TRUTH.

DEFENCE/DEFENSE – 1a : the act or action of defending
2a : capability of resisting attack
3a : means or method of defending or protecting oneself

According to Webster DEFENCE is the British spelling of the word DEFENSE.

We learn from the Apostle the Apostolic way of DEFENCE is to speak the TRUTH. No fancy words, no compelling stories, no theories, simply TRUTH.

As Apostolic Christian believers we are called to speak TRUTH in every aspect of our lives. TRUTH will both create conflict and bring peace. We have no control over that. But, as Apostolic Believers in JESUS we must be committed to TRUTH.

In his letter to the Galatians the Apostle Paul establised this fact:

Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

As Apostolic believers we must give room for TRUTH to be spoken, without demonizing those in Spiritual Authority over us. TRUTH is TRUTH and sometimes the TRUTH hurts. Dont be offended or become an enemy to one who speaks TRUTH. Self examine, be thankful and adjust when and where necessary.

I am committed to TRUTH, I pray that I do not become your enemy because of TRUTH.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS
iSee a REVIVAL and HARVEST building that is GREATER than anything I have ever seen coming to The POFW.

  20. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Just a quick point to the fact there was no time waste, the question goes forth “whatcha waiting for” then the decree to be baptized immediately followed… I reckon we should all follow this example

  21. 0 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

Something in Pauls testimony of events got their attention. Paul knew exactly what to say and when to say it. Are we prepared to know what to say when someone asks us about the gospel? Why we are a christian? Why we live a holy and separated life? All these answer can be found in the Word of God and through our relationship with Jesus. The gospel of Jesus is for people to come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, repent of their sins, be baptized in His name, and then live a christian life with daily disciplines of prayer, word, relationship with Him, and bringing other people to Him. Why am I a christian because Jesus gave His very life that I might live – what an express of love, and I want to return that love to Him by living and being a servant unto Him. Why do I live a holy and separate lifestyle? Because Jesus calls all of us to be holy as He is holy, to walk in the mind of Christ, to put Him on everyday. Don’t go where He won’t go, and don’t do or say what He wouldn’t do or say. I live holiness on the outside as an express of my dedication and love for Him on the inside. It is my daily worship to Him!

  22. ‘The soldiers who were about to interrogate Paul quickly withdrew when they heard he was a Roman citizen, and the commander was frightened because he had ordered him bound and whipped.’ Acts of the Apostles 22:29

Something that can seem unimportant or useless information can be the exact thing God can use for a miracle. If Paul wasn’t a Roman citizen He would have never made it to the High council, he would have never been able to share his testimony to the numerous guards, kings, and priests.

We can feel at times that there is nothing special or “God Chosen” in our lives, but don’t limit The Creator! He can take the simple and make it magnificent. He can take the broken and mold it into the Mighty. He can take something you had no control over, your birth and make it the greatest opportunity to grow the Kingdom!

  23. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
    ******************
Has God chosen you, has He chosen me, to do His will. I would have to say Yes, for we are all chosen but a few will obey. God wants us all to live for Him, to be blessed, to witness and confess our sins. But it takes a true believer to step up and take the plunge. For to tell others of your past before you were saved is hard to do. It is shameful, embarrassing, unknowing how it will be taken, maybe you’ll be rejected, but I personally don’t know of anyone that has killed and beaten Christians, really I don’t know what others have done unless they confess and give account. I am not the judge, but if my story would bring someone to Christ and be saved, then I think I would have to swallow my pride. My testimony may not be as great as others, but in God’s eyes all sins are equal and all need to be forgiven. So share your story and be faithful to God’s will, and He will do the rest. Thank you Jesus for never giving up on me and He won’t give up on you either. God blesses all according to His will.

  24. 3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

Paul gave his testimony of how he persecuted the Church. He told how Jesus had stopped him on the way to Damascus and how he was converted. The crowd of Jews became violently angry and probably would have killed Paul if not for the intervention of the chief Captain and soldiers. Some people just won’t believe, but we must work through the unbelievers to get to the sincere truth seekers.

  25. The Living Bible
    vs-21
But God said to me,Leave Jerusalem, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.

Paul’s defense was in harmony with O.T. teaching and Jewish thought until he said God sent him to the despised Gentiles ,thus implying an equality of the races. The crowds reaction suggests the intensity of Jewish feelings about there own privileged spiritual position and that of the lower-class Gentiles.

  26. Acts 22:6-15 (NLT)
    6) As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me.
    7) I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?
    8) Who are you, lord? I asked. And the voice replied, I am JESUS the Nazarene, the one you are persecuting.
    9) The people with me saw the light but didn’t understand the voice speaking to me.
    10) I asked, What should I do, Lord? And the Lord told me, Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told everything you are to do.
    11) I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions.
    12) A man named Ananias lived there. He was a godly man, deeply devoted to the law, and well regarded by all the Jews of Damascus.
    13) He came and stood beside me and said, Brother Saul, regain your sight! And that very moment I could see him!
    14) Then he told me, The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak.
    15) For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard.

Everyone of us has a Testimony to share of how JESUS shined his Bright Light into the darkness of our lives; how he opened our blind eyes to see Truth; has chosen us to know His Will; and to be his Witness, telling others of what we have seen and heard.
This past week in Illinois, I had the privilege to share my Testimony with my niece of how JESUS Saved Me.
Share Your Testimony Today With Someone!

  27. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Thank you Jesus for choosing me. Lord, give me the confidence to spread your Gospel, for my testimony is proof of how great You are.

  28. 1”Brothers and esteemed fathers,” Paul said, “listen to me as I offer my defense.” 2When they heard him speaking in their own language,a the silence was even greater.

Many will talk, back can’t back up what they say. If you can defend your belief in God, others will listen. They will be interested and want to know more. Give your testimony and have verses ready to give.

  29. 10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

We all have something God has promised to us and or has done for us that we can use to tell if there about Him and witness to others and show them His goodness.

  30. 7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Saul, Saul, same as. Abraham, Abraham, or Peter, Peter, Marta, Marta,
You are in the middle of a collapse of misunderstanding.
Many beliebers found our’s selves in this same situation. because of the lack of God’s commandments.

  31. Greater
    God’s Desired Result—— WITNESSES

v15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

The same Spirit that empowered them to be effective witnesses enables us to be powerful channels and outlets of blessing to proclaim to our world that Jesus is alive and still saves from sin. Time is short the stakes are high, and we must not fail to reach our world for Him.

  32. 1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

    The power of Your Testimony.

Paul was bound and was soon to be accused, but he spake his true and powerful testimony unto the Jewish people. Paul had made mistakes of the past but he was a man of God who did the will of God.

Sometimes we need to reach down and speak our testimony who God leads us to. The word says “ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” Paul ate the fruits of his words after speaking his testimony.

  33. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

Now our Lord choose us to be witness to everyone. To be hungry for the harvest and be ready to give the word for them. Tonight we were praying for the harvest and for the prodigal. The Lord wants to use our lives to testify to our families, neighbors and job. I am be praying for boldness and knowledge to speak the right thing at the right moment, in Jesus name,

  34. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

When we are new babes in the Lord, regardless of our backgrounds, we can used as a witness for others. I am thankful for the Holy Ghost which is our power to speak the truth with boldness.

  35. 20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

I am so glad that I serve a merciful God. To be apart of the group that turned Stephen into a Martyr. We can be so far deep in wickedness but the Lord never gives up on us. He sees our true potential.

  36. 27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

There is freedom we obtain when one becomes a citizen of the Kingdom of God. No longer slaves to sin or in bandage to the world, but free indeed in Jesus name. The only way to become a citizen of the kingdom is to be born into it.

  37. 28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

God gave us freedom so we would CHOOSE Him, He made it to where we would have a choice over Him or earthly desires. He wants us to Himself but He wants it to be our decision.

  38. And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. To God be the glory

  39. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

Knowing the will of God is the desire of all Christians. Know His will and hear His voice. It’s up to us individually to do all we can to stay connected to Him in a way that we know His voice and do His will. Seasons in life change but He never changes. We often just have to stop allowing the season to drawn out the will and voice of God.

  40. 13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

God can use anyone who is willing to be used. It doesn’t matter where you came from or what your social status is. As long as you are willing and obedient. He can show us things that we would have never imagined.

  41. “For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard. What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭22:15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s our duty to tell the world what we have seen, heard and experienced. We don’t have to be eloquent speakers or have a masters degree in philosophy. Just simply speak of our experience and ask simple questions and let God do the rest.

  42. 20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

I know some people think that I have done so wrong and Jesus will never forgive me, but we see Paul persecuted Christians and stood by, and consented to the death of Stephen and Jesus forgave him. Thank you Jesus for your forgiveness of all of our sins.

  43. 7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

  44. “And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As much as Paul was confident in his Roman citizenship, he was also confident in the fact that he was covered by the Blood. We see in the previous chapter how Paul was prepared to give his all for Jesus. We must be willing to sacrifice and know that God has already made a way. This reminds me of the three Hebrew boys which would not bow.

“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”
    ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3:17-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  45. “I will hear your case myself when your accusers arrive,” the governor told him. Then the governor ordered him kept in the prison at Herod’s headquarters.
Acts of the Apostles 23:35 NLT

I appreciate and enjoy the lessons we learn in Paul’s journeys and all the things that he went through and how God orchestrated people protect him from death before his time. Paul knew where he stood in the world and knew what God has called them to do. He was not afraid to not only spread the gospel but to stand his ground when it came time

  46. “You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:15-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When god calls us we should be obedient to what we are being asked. It doesn’t matter if we don’t understand it or how we may feel. We need to be obedient and know how to listen to the voice of the lord in whatever way it may come whether it be through a preacher or in our prayers. When we are called to do something we need to act on it.

  47. 6 “But as I was on my way, approaching Damascus about noontime, a great blaze of light suddenly flashed from heaven and shone around me. 7 And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ 8 And I replied, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’ 9 Now those who were with me [c]saw the light, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me. 10 And I asked, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord answered me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that is appointed and destined for you to do.’ 11 But since I could not see because of the [glorious intensity and dazzling] brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me and came into Damascus. It doesn’t matter how uncomfortable the situation is. If God tells you do to something, our response should be “What shall I do, Lord?”
Be a willing, available and obedient!
