40 Days of FIRE – Day 23 – Acts Chapter 23

Day 23: Acts Ch.23. Paul looks to his left and right and realized he was surrounded by those that were against his mission. At times, even when we are in a tight and helpless, hopeless place, the LORD knows where we are. Pray for the church to boldly testify of the goodness of God.

Acts 23

And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?

And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest?

Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.

11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

13 And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.

14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

15 Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.

16 And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.

17 Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.

18 So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.

19 Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?

20 And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.

21 But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.

22 So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.

23 And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;

24 And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

25 And he wrote a letter after this manner:

26 Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sendeth greeting.

27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.

28 And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council:

29 Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

30 And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell.

31 Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris.

32 On the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:

33 Who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him.

34 And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;

35 I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.

  1. 31 Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris.

Thank you Lord for being a on time God, thank you for your faithfulness.

  2. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

Life can throw us a discouraging curveballs. The Lord is ultimately in control and for those of us that serve Him, our discouragements can be viewed as a testament to the sovereignty of the Lord.

  3. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

Jesus knows all of our situation but one thing is for sure HE shows up on the right time for HE is in control of everything.
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  4. Verse 11 MSG “That night the Master appeared to Paul: “It’s going to be all right. Everything is going to turn out for the best. You’ve been a good witness for me here in Jerusalem. Now you’re going to be my witness in Rome!” A promise, a direction and a declaration of boldness. We must never forget that the Lord is with us, even when there are those who lie in wait trying to destroy our testimony as there was with Paul. We must remember that In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity to be GREATER!

  5. 12. And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

    23. And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;

    24. And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

So, you conspired against the man of God – now your options are to take him away from 470 soldiers, break your vow and look like an idiot, or stick to your word and starve to death…hey, at least you’ll be a lesson and maybe the next would-be conspirator will think twice!

  6. 5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

Paul is wise beyond understanding. I think a lot of us got to learn from Paul. From abstaining of speaking I’ll of the ruler of the people to finding the one thing you can debate with people. He reads the audience around him and pick something that they’re both feel passionately about. In this case the resurrection of the dead. I am a firm believer of resurrection specially since our Lord Jesus Christ resurrected on the third day and He will return and those that are dead will rise again!! Hallelujah!!!! I will wait upon the Lord FOREVER!!’

  7. Acts 23:11( amp) And [ that same] following night the Lord stood beside Paul and said, Take courage,Paul ,for as you have borne faithful witness concerning Me at Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.
Matt. 14 : 27 [ amp] But instantly He spoke to them, saying , Take courage! I am; stop being afraid!
Paul was on a mission for the Lord.
Jesus has a purpose and a plan for us to do.
If God be before us than who can be against us.

  8. “I will hear your case myself when your accusers arrive,” the governor told him. Then the governor ordered him kept in the prison at Herod’s headquarters.
Acts of the Apostles 23:35 NLT

I appreciate and enjoy the lessons we learn in Paul’s journeys and all the things that he went through and how God orchestrated people protect him from death before his time. Paul knew where he stood in the world and knew what God has called them to do. He was not afraid to not only spread the gospel but to stand his ground when it came time

  9. The next morning a group of Jews got together and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. There were more than forty of them in the conspiracy. They went to the leading priests and elders and told them, “We have bound ourselves with an oath to eat nothing until we have killed Paul. So you and the high council should ask the commander to bring Paul back to the council again. Pretend you want to examine his case more fully. We will kill him on the way.” But Paul’s nephew—his sister’s son—heard of their plan and went to the fortress and told Paul. Paul called for one of the Roman officers and said, “Take this young man to the commander. He has something important to tell him.” So the officer did, explaining, “Paul, the prisoner, called me over and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.” The commander took his hand, led him aside, and asked, “What is it you want to tell me?” Paul’s nephew told him, “Some Jews are going to ask you to bring Paul before the high council tomorrow, pretending they want to get some more information. But don’t do it! There are more than forty men hiding along the way ready to ambush him. They have vowed not to eat or drink anything until they have killed him. They are ready now, just waiting for your consent.” “Don’t let anyone know you told me this,” the commander warned the young man.”

The Lord loves working behind the scene. Sometimes we get delayed in traffic, that may have caused us to have avoided a bad accident.

    Way Maker
Even when I don’t see it, You’re working
Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working
You never stop, You never stop working
You never stop, You never stop working.

Thank you Lord for Your protection!!

  10. You have a promise from God. And he does not lie!

“That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭23:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Friends, yiu face hardships. You face bad times. You will face people that will try their absolute best to kill your. But be of good cheer the Lord has given you a promise. You must reach that promise!

Your gonna spend time in prison. Your gonna be locked up and beaten up. But you WONT DIE HERE.

You still have the 2,000 soul revival.
You still have to start that church.
You still have to preach in rome.
Your family is gonna be saved.
    It will happen!

  11. Acts of the Apostles 23:11
That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.”

No matter what people say be encouraged and keep witnessing to people about Jesus and how wonderful he is and all he has done.

  12. 7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

  13. The Kingdom of Jesus is GREATER

Act 23:5 “I’m sorry, brothers. I didn’t realize he was the high priest,” Paul replied, “for the Scriptures say, ‘You must not speak evil of any of your rulers.’”

Notice here that even though the high Priest broke the law, Paul still highly respected the Office of the High Priest. Paul even rebuked his own self with Scripture. This paints to us a person who is extremely humble and knowledgeable of the Word of God. We should mold ourselves after this man of God and be willing to submit to the Scripture regardless of the situation at hand.

  14. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! copied from Joe Zarbock…..Life can throw us a discouraging curveballs. The Lord is ultimately in control and for those of us that serve Him, our discouragements can be viewed as a testament to the sovereignty of the Lord. ….this is great thought!

  15. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

Paul was warned not to go Jerusalem and he chose not to listen. Now he’s in a predicament. But GOD was there to encourage him and let him know that he still had work to do in Rome. Chained or not, It doesn’t matter what your situation is, you can still be a witness to JESUS.

  16. 35“I will hear your case myself when your accusers arrive,” the governor told him. Then the governor ordered him kept in the prison at Herod’s headquarters.

Yes, God is ready to hear your case. When you are in front of God, will you be able to convince God that you deserve to be in heaven? Prepare yourself for that day. Pray, worship and serve in the Kingdom to strengthen your case.

  17. “And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭23:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The LORD JESUS is not done with you.

It’s not time to back out of your ministry. You know what I am saying… “I need a break, a month off or two, maybe three months. Be very careful when this thought arises in your mind.
Or even ‘I don’t feel qualified for this ministry.’ We will never feel qualified enough, to self and others. I must say this neither was Paul, neither was Moses, neither was David. But GOD has chosen them as well as you to do a work He’s called you to. Endure the challenges, endure the naysayers, endure the criticism.
Keep being faithful and obedient to the leading of His Spirit and word.
You may be the chosen for such a time as this! To a GREATER revival in yourself and this city.

“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  18. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

We see God nake a way for Paul to continue his commission to the Gentiles. Even through adversity he is able to teach and witness and shed light on who Jesus is to the Jews and Gentiles both. We have seen and know that God can make a way where we may see no way!

  19. Acts 23:11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Psalm 31:15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

Keep testifying and being a witness, God will always be there to encourage you.

  20. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

Be of good cheer! Good us with us, He will never leave nor forsake us. He has a plan for our lives and of we are obedient, He will see that we accomplish it for His glory!

  21. 7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.
8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
9 And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

When we are in the middle of trouble and down in the valley of decisions we must keep in mind that the Lord is in control of every situation. For though we may not understand why things happen the and why they happen God is in control and will work every situation according to his plan.

  22. 34 And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;

Such a huge ruckus was about Paul?
Nope it wasn’t about Paul at all!!! It was too try and shut him up, so many people were involved concerning him so they thought but again it was to shut him up!!! the enemy will stop at nothing except THE POWER of GOD to shut us up!!! We cannot stay silent!!! It was said to PROPHECY , SO LET THE PROPHESYING BEGIN!!! IN JESUS NAME!!! GREATER YES I SEE GREATER!!! GREATER IS HERE, GREATER IS HERE!!!

  23. 9 And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.

12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

No matter who comes against us, God has our back. We are sent to do the work of God.

  24. The Living Bible
    vs:1
Gazing Intently at the Council, Paul began:
Brothers I have always lived before God in all good conscience

Paul’s claim itself seems to have enraged the high priest. Why? The 1st-century Jewish historian Josephus reports that this Ananias , high priest from A.D. 48-59 was, know for his greed and dishonesty. Even the Talmud ridicules Ananias for his avarice and brutality. Don’t be surprised any time the evil hate and strike out at the good.

  25. GREATER
    LOYALTY

16 And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.

The Apostolic Church is filled with people that are loyal to Leaders. Pauls nephew went directly to the affected. He did not take matters in his own hands. He made Paul aware of the plan that JESUS allowed him to hear.

The nephews love for Paul, whether because of family or spiritual allegiance we see this clear demonstration of LOYALTY in the Apostolic Church. I pray JESUS seals our hearts with a seal of LOYALTY to one another that we do not leave a Brother, Sister or Leader exposed to the wiles evil doers.

  26. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

I am amazed that it doesn’t say an angel came and stood by him, no it was the Lord. The Lord knows exactly where we are and what we are going through. Sometimes He sends people to minister to our needs, sometimes an angel, and in this case He himself came and spoke to Paul.

If we will stand up for Him, He will stand up for us and show up when needed. We must not walk in fear, but walk in confidence that if God be for us, who can be against us.

  27. Acts 23:11, “And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.”

    “Be Of Good Cheer”
As long as we are doing the Will and the Work of the Lord, He will be with us and stand beside us to Encourage, Strengthen, and Guide us.
To me, that’s a reason to Be Of Good Cheer!

    Thank You JESUS!!

  28. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

God is for us, who can be against us. Through the trials we may face, Gos reminds us to be of good cheer. Pain may last through the night, but JOY comes in the morning.

  29. 12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

It is crazy to see the measures that the Jews decided to go to in order to get something completed. Could you imagine what our church body would look like if we had even half of the determination to win souls as the Jews did to kill Paul. Time to dig deeper and make Greater sacrifices to win the lost.

  30. 19 Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?
    ********************
It is best when we need to speak to an authority or anyone about another person, it should be done privately. Gossip is a sin. It can be belittling to others to make yourself look better, it can cause trouble or even separation, it can do a lot of damage to the person being spoken about. In this verse Paul’s nephew wasn’t gossiping, he was trying to save his uncle’s life. The chief captain didn’t know what he was going to be told, so he pulled him aside to tell him privately what he had to say. Wise choice on the captains side. My conclusion on this is that if you need to speak about someone, maybe they are doing wrong, pray about it, then go to the head person (pastor) don’t spread rumors or gossip. In some situations you may even go to the person themselves to solve a problem. Keep it private. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Be kind.

  31. 27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.

29 Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds

Paul was saved by the Romans because he was a Roman citizen. The Sadducees wanted to kill Paul because he was speaking about Jesus and the resurrection Paul was not breaking the law. The enemies of the church will find fault and do damage if it goes against their beliefs and life style. The chief captain had to take Paul to the governor in Caesarea to save his life. This made it possible for Paul to eventually be taken to Rome to stand before Caesar. God will allow certain things to happen to us to accomplish his will.

    Works of The Holy Ghost

v11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

The empowering Spirit of God affects the hearers .
We become His witnesses with power to effectively evangelize our world. Many people have witnessed others and watch as the Holy Ghost moved on them.
God is so good . He is the one who initiates this wonderful process.

  33. “The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭23:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God is always right there when we need it. Through the discouragement and the words that were being said to Paul god had a way of touching his spirit and encouraging him. In this walk with Christ when it seems that we are being thrown down and become exhausted god has a way of giving us that encouragement right when we need it.

  34. 2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.
3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
Very imprest how Paul knew the civil and celestial law that God gave to Moises and passed on to Joshua and how quickly he responded with the book of the law by memory.
Deuteronomy 6;8, And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Bible commentaries in the book of Romans said he explained the law like a very skillful lawyer.
    Proverbs 3:21-35 21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion;
He haves all these on his mind because he is obedient to the first commandment of God.
God used Paul in the weirdest way to Evangelia’s the highest officials. on those times.
11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rom. A real doctor of the law Evangelist and truthful disciple of GOD.

  35. And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;

24 And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

  36. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

Stick by God and His Word and he’ll stick by you. Talk good of Him and good things will come to you!! He takes care of those that take care of His name and His reputation!

  37. 11 On the following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Be brave; for as you have solemnly and faithfully witnessed about Me at Jerusalem, so you must also testify at Rome.”

God is always near! God will come to us himself when it is needed!

  38. 6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

Know your audience!! This will help greatly when you are trying to talk to people about Jesus.

  39. 14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

Often times Jesus will place help right where we need it the most. We just have to be willing to listen and obey.

  40. 34 And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;
35 I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.

It can be easy sometimes to form opinions of others just by hear say. Here we see the proper response, wait until both parties are there. This combats confusion, and people from using fancy words to get out of a mess.

  41. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

What a mighty God we serve, when we are surrounded he is always there. He shows up not ever scared of his opponent, I wonder what would happen in this city if we did the same against all the evil that tries to come against us. Jesus let us speak with boldness everywhere we go in this city and be of good cheer when it don’t look good.

  42. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

God gives us joy, therefore nothing or no one can take it away from us.

Just need some peace and quiet y’all😂😂😂

  44. 7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

Another demonstration to “watch your mouth”. Another translation reads “The moment he said this, the council split right down the middle, Pharisees and Sadducees going at each other in heated argument.”
I think at times we get laid back and comfortable just speaking whatever comes to mind, without ever considering the outcome or ripple it will have on everything around us.

The scripture tells us in Psalms 141:3 to guard your mouth. Proverbs 10:19 says that there is a such thing as “too much talking”.
Proverbs 15:28 “The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking”

Such a simple practice of thinking before we speak could truly impact everything around us!

  45. Favor
27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.

When God gives you favor with man he is giving you another layer of provision and protection. It is your integrity and influence that allows you to move forward in this type of favor. You have to ensure that you do not allow bad judgments to destroy what God is building in the eyes of others.

  46. There are those that lie in wait that desire to take the people of God out. However, we have the power to overcome such obstacles. God gives his people strength to deal with the things of this world. He will not leave nor forsake us.

  47. 9 And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

  48. So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me. And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Cæsarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night; and provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.
    Acts 23:22‭-‬24 KJV

God has your back and an army by your side. Definitely no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Yes the weapon and the plot to harm may form. But God… the Lord your God us ready with an entire army to look after you. When you are aligned with God and his will know that he will accomplish it. So like the Lord tells Paul, be of good cheer.

  49. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

The Lord appeared to Paul to encourage after he tried to convinced his people, and not converted people had resulted. Paul had acted very clever dividing the audience, to tried to get some attention to his message. He knew that Saudesees does not believe in resurrection or spirit, but Pharisees did.
Probably Paul felt discouraged about that experience, but he was able to even die for the Lord.

  50. “But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Always know your audience. This will help in being relatable and being able to establish a connection when witnessing to others. In this case, Paul knowing his audience exposed the confusion and chaos that was evident in his accusers

  51. 11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. Encouragement is something we all need

  52. Paul realized that some members of the high council were Sadducees and some were Pharisees, so he shouted, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, as were my ancestors! And I am on trial because my hope is in the resurrection of the dead!” This divided the council—the Pharisees against the Sadducees— for the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe in all of these.
Acts of the Apostles 23:6‭-‬8 NLT

A house divided against itself cannot stand. God opened up a foothold for Paul to use as he was being interrogated
