Acts 25

Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,

And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.

But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.

Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.

And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.

And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.

14 And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul’s cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:

15 About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.

16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.

18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.

21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.

22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.

23 And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment Paul was brought forth.

24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.

27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

  1. Verse 8 MSG “Then Paul took the stand and said simply, “I’ve done nothing wrong against the Jewish religion, or the Temple, or Caesar. Period.” Same verse NKJV “while he answered for himself, “Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I offended in anything at all.” Stand your ground as everyone will have to answer for themselves and their actions as we read in Romans 14:12 AMP “So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”

Philippians 1:28-30 NLT says “Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it.” Be GREATER!

  2. 2. Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,

    3. And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.

As we’ve seen here in our own country, those in the highest offices are willing to commit even the most heinous of crimes.

  3. Imprisoned without an accusation! The first thing you will see on a warrant for the arrest is an accusation, a list of the crimes that they charge you with and it’s corresponding code, plus to whom the crime was against. Let it be The People or the specific name of the victim. You can not be held against your will without an accusation. Here Paul is imprisoned and still no crime has been listed against him. As I look at our country and the incidents that are occurring with hate crime, white supremacy, etc it makes me wonder if we are going backwards as a country. I agree with our President when he called it terrorism for I put myself on the shoes of the families of the victims. Life seems to have no value and laws are becoming stricter trying to fight the crimes but it is not more laws that we need! WHAT WE NEED IS MORE JESUS!!! THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IS ALL WE NEED FOR LAW! If everyone would learn them and follow them there would be no more tragedies in this world. The sad thing is that we are forgetting to teach our children God’s law and they go about without guidance and finished corrupting the world and bending the law to their convenience. Will we ever learn! Will we stand firm when they come for us because of His Gospel!!! Will we say YES TO JESUS when is illegal to do so!!! I pray I don’t have to stand alone, but that when I look to my side I would find my brothers and Sisters supporting me.

  4. 19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

Our testimony of the Word that Jesus died for our sins and is our redeemer shows our faith. Everyone is given a measure of faith, but no one is saved unless God draws them. We have all been drawen to be saved because the Lord died for the sins of the world, and wants no one to perish. We are saved by faith through the grace of God. We see here that the accusations againts Paul prepared an audience of the most unfaithful to draw them into saving faith. The Lord gives even the most hard core unbelievers a chance to repent.

  5. 3-4 NLT “They asked Festus as a favor to transfer Paul to Jerusalem (planning to ambush and kill him on the way). But Festus replied that Paul was at Caesarea and he himself would be returning there soon.”

The Jewish leaders kept plotting to kill Paul, but GOD had other plans for him. Man will not succeed against the will of GOD.

  6. They say hind sight is 20/20. Anyone in Paul’s situation might question this journey that he’s been put on. But oh, look at how many major hovering officials heard the Gospel along the way. We aren’t supposed to know the next step in our story. That’s God’s job. But it is our job to walk the path in faith. When it all plays out we can look back and realize those moments we didn’t know what was happening or going on were key moments God was moving things into position. When you rearrange furniture in a room it looks like chaos until you get every piece in place.

  7. Acts 25: 18-19 ( amp) [ But] when the accusers stood up,they brought forward. no accusation [ in the case] of any such misconduct as I was expecting.
19 Instead they had some points of controversy with him about their own religion or superstition and concerning one Jesus, Who had died, but Whom Paul kept asserting [ over and over] to be alive.
Stay in the word of the Lord,God will fight our Battles.
The truth will set you free.
    Be Greater

  8. But in my opinion he has done nothing deserving death. However, since he appealed his case to the emperor, I have decided to send him to Rome. “But what shall I write the emperor? For there is no clear charge against him. So I have brought him before all of you, and especially you, King Agrippa, so that after we examine him, I might have something to write.
Acts of the Apostles 25:25‭-‬26 NLT

Imagine being in prison and they can’t even bring a charge against you but yet calling for your death, Paul takes the opportunity everywhere he goes to be a witness. Festus obviously had favor with him and refuse to put him to death because of his testimony. Paul is not afraid wherever he went to share his testimony and the good news about Jesus , because he knew wherever he was at was an opportunity to witness regardless of the circumstances

  9. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! I know at times ( and I can give tons of examples in my own life ) it seems like doing what’s right is gonna turn out negative, but it’s what Jesus wants you to do and he will keep you safe and it will be alright! God is omnipresent and try as hard as you can to stay focused on him. God is my rock!!

  10. 26“But what shall I write the emperor? For there is no clear charge against him. So I have brought him before all of you, and especially you, King Agrippa, so that after we examine him, I might have something to write.

When you appear before God, what will God have written about you. Yes, there will be many sins written down. But, we are lucky, Jesus died for our sins, so there will not be nothing written. All sins are forgiven. Thank you Jesus!

  11. Acts of the Apostles 25:19
Instead, it was something about their religion and a dead man named Jesus, who Paul insists is alive.

    Hallelujah. Jesus is alive.

  12. While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

Paul had done nothing wrong yet they wanted to kill him. Paul stood fast to the gospel

  13. GREATER
    APPEAL TO JESUS

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

In the deomocracy of the United States we have many apeeals courts. The highest being the Supreme Court. Where Justices or Judges decide the case. However in The KINGDOM of GOD there in only 1 Justice or Judge who decides all cases of life.

We are witness here to Paul making appeal to Caesar the king of Rome. I believe this is an example to us that we always have another move when we are falsely accused.

    I appeal to JESUS.

There is no need to argue with man. Go straight to THE KING JESUS.
There is no need to argue with satan. Go straight to THE KING JESUS.

When we are under attack of man in the earth or satan in the spirit we APPEAL TO JESUS.

    Utilize your next move.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS
iSee a REVIVAL and HARVEST building that is GREATER than anything I have ever seen coming to The POFW.

  14. “For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Cæsar.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭25:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Truth will be told no matter what every liar will say against Paul. The LORD Jesus has the last word in all things.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭54:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  15. Acts 25:11 For if I be an offender, or have committed anything worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things wereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

Psalm 7:3-5 O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands; if I have rewarded evil unto him that was that at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it ; yea, that him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah..

  16. “And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭25:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The enemy will do whatever he can to bring you down. You have to stay true to your word and keep your integrity with God. When job wouldn’t curse God when the devil was no longer after jobs anointing he for his integrity.

    Same goes for Paul
    Same goes for us.

  17. 16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

The wisdom of the judge was to take Paul face to face with his accusers to see if he be guilty. This is a practice that we all should practice. If someone is speaking against us to another, we should take that person and go to the one speaking against and have them say it to our face. This will be a good test of truth. If they can’t speak it to your face, usually it is not true or a partial truth.

We must be careful about repeating things we did not witness personally because people love to embellish things to make them seem worse than they are, and we could be caught up in spreading gossip about something that first is none of our business, and second may not be entirely truth. As the body of Christ, we are called to bring unity and peace to the body, so if we didn’t witness it personally, or it doesn’t effect us, stop repeating it, stop telling it, mind your own business and help heal the scisms in the body instead of creating a wider gap.

  18. The Living Bible
    vs:10-11
But Paul replied,No! I demand my privilege of hearing before the Emperor himself. You know very well I am not guilty. If I have done something worthy of death, I don’t refuse to die!But if I am innocent, neither you nor anyone else has a right to turn me over to these men to kill me. I appeal to Caesar.
    The appeal to Caesar vs-10

In the 1st century a citizen living in the provinces could appeal to Caesar when a possibility of capital punishment existed. Festus was no doubt pleased to have the case out of his jurisdiction.

    If guilty vs-11
Paul’s stance is consistent with his teaching in Romans 13.The believer is to be subject to secular government. If a believer breaks the law, he can still affirm the rule of law by not attempting to avoid just punishment.

  19. Acts 25:23-25 (NLT)
    23) So the next day Agrippa and Bernice arrived at the auditorium with great pomp, accompanied by military officers and prominent men of the city. Festus ordered that Paul be brought in.
    24) Then Festus said, King Agrippa and all who are here, this is the man whose death is demanded by all the Jews, both here and in Jerusalem.
    25) But in my opinion he has done nothing deserving death. However, since he appealed his case to the emperor, I have decided to send him to Rome.

Acts 9:15-16 says, “15) But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: 16) For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”
Acts 23:11 says, “And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness of me in Rome.”

God had a Plan and Purpose for Paul’s life – to Testify and be a Witness to Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel, the Jews – to Testify and be a Witness in Rome as he had in Jerusalem. Now we can see more fully how God’s Plan and Purpose for Paul’s life is being carried out. He has Testified and Witnessed to Gentiles; He has Testified and Witnessed to the children of Israel; and now He is set before King Agrippa, military officers, and prominent people to Testify and Witness for HIM. Then he will be sent to Rome for the same Purpose.
Paul was Faithful through it all!

God has a Plan and a Purpose for each and every one of our lives, and as long as we are Testifying and Witnessing for HIM, HE will carry out that Plan and Purpose in our lives.
We just need to stay Faithful through it all!

  20. 18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
    ****************
Satan is the accuser, he walks the earth looking for something he can point out and say “what about this or that, he did this or that” he loves to make us feel guilty, hopeless and worthless and cause us to return to our old ways. If we stay on the narrow path that leads to Jesus, if we live by the Commandments and we are purified by Jesus’s blood on Calvary, then he has nothing to charge against us. That old demon is out to devour our children and over the past generations we have allowed this to come about. Now we are seeing the results and now is the time to fight for our young, for they are vulnerable and they can be easily enticed to follow the evil ways of the devil. Don’t let them be charged and sentenced to death because of our lack of faith. Take action, Pray, teach, lead, guide, it is up to us to impact the next generation to be leaders in Christ. I am praying for my grandchildren to come to the Lord, to be saved and to live for Him. I am praying for all the children to have a chance to make that choice and to choose Christ. For Jesus loves all the children of the world. God bless our youth ministries.

  21. For a moment it seemed as if Festus was willing to accept the request of the Jews that Paul is sent to Jerusalem for trial before the Sanhedrin. However, he would not do this without the prisoner’s permission. Paul realized that if he agreed, he would never reach Jerusalem alive. He, therefore, refused by stating that the court in Caesarea was the proper place for a trial. If he had committed a crime against the Roman Empire, he was not unwilling to die for it. But if he was not guilty of such a sin, then on what legal ground could he be handed over to the Jews? Taking full advantage of his rights as a Roman citizen, the Apostle Paul then uttered the memorable words, “I appeal to Caesar.” Was Paul justified in appealing to Caesar? Should he not have committed his cause entirely to God, and refused to stoop to dependence on his earthly citizenship? Was this one of his “ mistakes of Paul? We cannot say with finality. All we know is that his appeal to Caesar hindered his being set free at this time and that even if he hadn’t appealed he would have reached Rome some other way.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  22. 9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

Paul didn’t want to stand before the Jews because they would kill him. He was a Roman citizen and intitled to a Roman trial and would no doubt receive a just trial from them. The Roman Governors tried to appease the Jews, but Paul stood firm to appear before Augustus and they had to allow him to do it. So, Paul would live longer and testify in Rome and would write letters to the churches from prison. God’s will was being worked out in Paul’s life. If we are doing God’s will, he will be with us all the way through.

  23. The Kingdom of Jesus is GREATER
11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

Paul understood his earthly rights as to being a Roman citizen and had no issues invoking those right. Sometimes we as Christians use the excuse that this world is not our home so we shouldn’t worry so much about the issues at hand. I think as long as we have a voice in politics, we should be free to exercise that voice.

  24. 26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.

  25. “For it makes no sense to send a prisoner to the emperor without specifying the charges against him!” Acts of the Apostles 25:27 NLT‬

    That makes no sense!

When we have truly repented of our sins and asked for forgiveness, we are blessed with mercy. The scripture says it’s as far as the east is from the west. That He, Himself doesn’t hold it against us.

Since that is true how unreasonable we must sound when we still want to carry around our past, that we’ve repented over. We mustn’t allow the distraction of our past hinder our future. Only we can let go, and let God!

  26. 24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

    GOD is a Just GOD!
    GOD is in control!
No weapon formed against thee shall prosper!
They tried to find Apostle Paul guilty but could not because they had invalid accusations.
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  27. 18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

People will accuse you falsely. However, it doesn’t matter because God knows the truth. He will take care of all those who are against you. Don’t get discouraged, stand firm and let God lead you.

  28. Proverbs 21:2 – Every way of a man is right in his own eyes : but the LORD pondereth the hearts .

The whole issue of man is summed up…being right in their owneyes

  29. 18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

Paul was able to stand before the rulers of the day and be a witness for Jesus and the apostolic doctrine.

  30. 7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.

Just like then today there are people that want to get rid of the church and lie about what men of God say, and try to call it hate speech when they preach about what the Bible says. God is still in control no matter what anyone says yesterday, today, or forever. Thank you Jesus for your power!!

  31. 22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would hear the man myself. Tomorrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
these pagan rulers think they judging paul instead. God sent him there to preach the word to them the good news of salvation the new king Jesus Christ.

  32. 10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

He had no fault against him. Sometimes as we follow the will of God for our lives we will find ourselves in similar situations. We must trust God. Others will find fault with us yet God knows all things.

  33. 11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.

Paul appealed unto Caesar, he already knew that he needed to go over there to minister to Kings. The Lord himself told him. That it was necessary to go to Rome.

Paul taught us to be brave in difficult circumstances and be obedient to the Lord.

  34. 25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

He was falsely accused, but God gave him words to speak and to prove he was innocent of the things they accused him of.

  35. 25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

The enemy can’t even lie or accuse right!! he gets confused about his own lies!!! Those accusations crumble as soon as the truth is spoken!!!

  36. 18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:

Stay true and shout His name and His glory and your accusers have no accusation against you. And if they have accusations it’s not what you thought, but rather. Speak His Name, speak His Fame, speak of His Glory, and power.

  37. 19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

Happy to be apart of a church that serves the true Living God!

  38. “For it seems absurd and unreasonable to me to send a prisoner [to Rome] without indicating the charges against him.””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭25:27‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When you are in the will of god no matter what lies are said about you they will make no sense and in the end god will reign. Don’t worry about the lies of the enemy because they are what they are lies. They are there to distract and steer us away from the lord. We must stay on the path with the lord and know that as long as we are serving him those lies don’t matter because he will always shine and outweigh the lies.

  39. 7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

Paul knew that they were waiting in Jerusalem for him with the intent to kill him. And God knew that he must tell his testimony to higher officials in Rome. Even when the odds are not favorable, God is still in control of the situation.

  41. “And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭25:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Always place your trust in God. Accusers will come and go in our life but God will always be the steady anchor, the foundation that we are rooted to.

  42. 13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.

Anytime that you preach in the name of Jesus repentance forgiveness of sin and to receive Holy Ghost there will always be opposition from the enemy. The devil doesn’t want anyone to be safe nor to receive the Holy Ghost which is the power within us to cast out the devil.

  43. 18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

They could not believe what they were hearing, and that’s at no fault to Paul. Sometimes people won’t hear the truth and we can’t be put down over it. Stand strong on the Word of God and let Him use you to share His gospel across the world!

  44. 11 On the following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Be brave; for as you have solemnly and faithfully witnessed about Me at Jerusalem, so you must also testify at Rome.” AMP

God went to Paul to tell him to keep pushing forward. In tough situations we know that we have been faithful, but we can not back down. We must keep courageous and faithful.
