Acts 5

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,

23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

24 Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

  1. Acts 5:42 MSG “Every day they were in the Temple and homes, teaching and preaching Christ Jesus, not letting up for a minute.” Philippians 1:12-14 MSG is captioned “They Can’t Imprison the Message” and says “I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered. All the soldiers here, and everyone else, too, found out that I’m in jail because of this Messiah. That piqued their curiosity, and now they’ve learned all about him. Not only that, but most of the followers of Jesus here have become far more sure of themselves in the faith than ever, speaking out fearlessly about God, about the Messiah.” So we cannot allow anything or anybody to distract us or stop us from sharing who Jesus is; but rather continue daily to make the decision to move forward. Be GREATER!

  2. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ

Sometimes I think we take for granted that whenever we go through trials or any type of persecution that it is actually God counting us worthy to be able to go through something like that as he suffered for us. We need to continue to encourage ourselves no matter what we face or come up against, and not allow anything to stop us from trying to reach the Lost.

  3. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:10-12‬ ‭KJV “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

  4. 3. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

    5. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

He lied to the Holy Ghost and had to give up his own ghost!
Don’t crack the door of your heart even a little bit – satan will try to kick it open, come in and fill up the place!

  5. 19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, 20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

In the middle of the night an angel came, opened their prison, and gave them direction. Some people are waiting on angels to come and do the same for them yet it wasn’t their integrity that out cause them to be in prison it was their lack of obedience.

Yet, others are waiting on their release date. Don’t give up now keep moving forward and when it’s time walk out and get to work. 😉

  6. 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

The apostles did not obey man they obeyed GOD it didn’t matter to them that they would be beaten for Jesus. That’s the love for Jesus and rejoice they have.
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  7. 15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

Just as when the Lord’s shadow passed by Moses on the Mont, his countenance was changed. The people hoped that the shadow of Peter would heal the the sick. Peter was sold out for the service of the Lord, and the Lord’s manifest will of prospering the saints was demonstrated by the miracles.

  8. The Living Bible
    vs-31
Then with mighty power, God exalted him to be a Prince and savor, so that the people of Israel would have an opportunity for repentance, and for their sins to be forgiven.

Forgiveness is aphiemi ,a verb to describe the canceling of debts and the pardoning of crimes, as well as the for the forgiveness of sins. In forgiveness God sends away or removes our sins, making guilt irrelevant.

Any time I am caught up in a sin I do my best to repent right away. Also before I pray I must have my heart 💜 right with God. Same thing when we are in the prayer room before service we must repeat before we start praying for the service and what God’s going to do in this service. (Thank you Jesus we are giving the opportunity to be right with you at the particularly time we need to repent.

  9. Acts 5:14-21
    14) And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.
    15) Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
    16) There came also a multitude out of the cities round about Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
    17) Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
    18) And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
    19) But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
    20) Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
    21) And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning and taught….

Always, when God Is Doing Great things, there are going to be those who will try to Stop the Work of God, BUT we (POFW) just have to keep GOING FORWARD and Speak and Teach ALL The Words Of This Life.

  10. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

  11. 9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

This couple pre-planned their sin. They could have kept all the money, but the sin came when they lied together about. It is one thing to choose to sin for yourself because you will pay the consequences, but don’t drag others into your sin, or into sinning with you.

    James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

There are many principles to living for God that we are taught as new christians: love God, pray, fast, read the word, be kind, follow the 10 commandments, love people, be a witness, walk with integrity that your testimony shines, don’t forsake the assembling of yourselves together, give back to God 10% of your increase in tithing, and additional monies in offerings. All these things we know, but when we withhold any of them, we are just like this couple – premeditating to sin. God helps us to allow the Holy Ghost in us to be so fiery how, that conviction hits us the minute we even think about sin.

  12. As a result of the apostles’ work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter’s shadow might fall across some of them as he went by.
Acts of the Apostles 5:15 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.5.15.NLT

As a result of the Apostles work

It didn’t just HAPPEN. The church got to work and that was the catalyst that moved the harvest out of the field. People saw what was happening and they started to respond.
    We’re GOING FORWARD
    We’re MOVING
We’re not standing still any longer.
    Hands to the plow
    Hands and feet of Jesus
In the world of medicine if you don’t move a body part you lose function. That’s not this church!! All parts operating as needed in these last days!!! Hallelujah!!!

  13. GREATER
    NEVER WASTE A GOOD TRIAL

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

    I am GUILTY!

Trials of life that JESUS has entrusted to my FAITH in HIM. I have been weak and failed the test, I have complained of hardships, persecution, opposition and occasionally life itself.

However, I have never been beaten or threatened to not speak the name of JESUS.

But the disciples REJOICING that they were threatened and beaten for the name of JESUS. Preached JESUS everywhere.

I pray a Holy Ghost baptism of BOLDNESS will cover us today as we proclaim the Name of JESUS over this world.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS
iSee a REVIVAL and HARVEST building that is GREATER than anything I have ever seen coming to The POFW.

  14. 19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

No matter what the enemy throws at us, we are to keep witnessing and reaching, speaking the words of life that we are so blessed to know and have.

  15. Acts 5: 10-11 Then she fell down straight way at his feet, and yielded up the ghost; and the young men came in,and found her dead, and carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
    (11) And a great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
When we become more apostle , and fear the Lord,we become closer to him.
The more we will love him and desire him the more that we will want him.
Lay your troubles at the feet of Jesus.
The Holy Ghost will convict me and you.
Forgiveness and Love is the Key Word to our Lives.
    Thank you Jesus.

  16. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! I have heard many sermons on this reading in the Bible. Two people knowing better planned to cheat God out of what he deserves and in his word he tells us to do. How can the outcome be anything but bad? So they disobeyed God and they died for it. Now where’s the money? It never comes out good to act in disobedience.

  17. 17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

Those that oppose the gospel work night and day to succeed. God wants his truth to be published everywhere. He miraculously delivered the apostles out of prison and told them to go to the temple and speak to the people. God wants the gospel to be preached. He will work with his people to get it done.

  18. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER
34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space

This Gamaliel was Saul’s teacher and mentor and here he is making intercession for the disciples. Saul made havoc of the church but eventually came to be known as Paul and wrote the majority of the New Testament. I wonder if this great man of influence ever came to the knowledge of the truth.

  19. Acts of the Apostles 5:4,38-42
[4]The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!”

Give to God what belongs to him

[38]“So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown.
[39]But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”
[40]The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go.
[41]The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.
[42]And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.”

God has all power and authority

  20. 19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

God is able to deliver us from the things that hold us back. When you’re locked up, you are not free to move about. Freedom allows us to rejoice without things holding us down. We serve a mighty God and he will deliver.

  21. 9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

    He lied, they tempted..

Their tempting was making provisions to satisfy their flesh. When he followed through, he had to lie to make it happen.

  22. 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

God knows all things, we can’t hide anything from God. When Ananias held back what was owed to God what Ananias truly did was lose a blessing that God would’ve gave him if he was truthful.

  23. 17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

    This life??

Many “churches “ have men and women that stand up and tell their feel good stories about how they serve God and their life is so easy, so blessed, so good.

Truth be told many of them are liars. Real men of God tell the truth. They can tell you about heart ache, being broke, and all sorts of hardships, and then they WILL show how JESUS brought them THROUGH their tough spots, and caused them to be more than overcommers.

  24. 36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

Watching that the people we surround ourselves with aren’t boastful, lest we become alike!!! There is a saying that my grandmother always said, well actually there are alot of them but one is , dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres…..tell me.who you hand around with and I’ll tell.you who you are!!!

    Watching who we are around…

  25. “There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Hallelujah 🙌🙌🙌

    ‘ They were healed everyone.’

Revival is NOW!!! This is what is happening @ P.OFW. Family members, our children, our neighborhood, our cities, our region, healed in the Name of Jesus Christ.

“if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.””
    ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:17-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  26. 11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

The fear of the Lord is departed from evil. The first church saw the real power of God. The Israel saw the plagues, miracles and wonders. God still is the same, yesterday and forever.

  27. “But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5:29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At all Costs we most Obey the truth! We must obey God! With his word we will know if it truly a word for the Lord!

Human authority has no power in the spirit flesh can not take spiritual control but only spiritual authority

  28. “But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5:39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Many things in life can cause us to doubt. However, we can find comfort in knowing there is never a doubt in God.

You will never be able to overthrow what God has put in place! Trust Him and His Will!

  29. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

  30. 18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

When the work is of God, there is no man that can stop it.

  31. 19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

  32. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
It seems simple enough but the problem is we cant even obey ourselves half the time. How many of us say were gonna do something or were gonna make ourselves wake up at a certain time every single day but we dont. Its not something that happens over night. Its discipline that we have to establish. So today you go a little further than you did the day before and even though its not where you wanna be spiritually or physically YOU KEEP GOING. Once you get there your old struggles are now your daily activities and it seems foreign when you don’t achieve em. NOW WHEN YOU DONT READ THE BIBLE ITS GOT YOUR WHOLE DAY MESSED UP. Rome wasnt built in a day
Pastor wasnt pastor in a day
Leaders were leaders in a day
    were gonna make it
and were gonna take this city house by house speaking the word of GOD

  33. 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
    ****************
If God is with the POFW, Who can be against the POFW? God will and has made this church what it is. No one, no power, gossip or rumors can overthrow what our Lord has set in place. I believe that the Spirit of God is on this church and it doesn’t matter who has left or what they say. God will deal with them in His own way. We need to let it go and look forward not backwards. Forgive and forget. New converts are coming in everyday and replacing those who couldn’t stand with the church, the pastor, the outline of things that keep this church going. Praise God for all the opportunities that are available to serve God.
