Acts 10

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. 31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

It is easy to get discouraged. This verse tells us that our prayers are not in vain.

  2. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

Jesus knows Apostle Peter very well and for Peter to know that it was from Jesus he would tell him 3 times because he knew how Peter doubted and there was also 3 men that came to seek him. That how Jesus confirms to Apostle Peter its coming from Jesus.
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!
    HE IS GOOD!
    All The Time!

  3. Verse 33 MSG “33 “So I did it—I sent for you. And you’ve been good enough to come. And now we’re all here in God’s presence, ready to listen to whatever the Master put in your heart to tell us.” So much trust, so much obedience of all parties to get to this point. Are you willing to go that extra mile, literally? The previous verses say that they entered Caesarea a day later after taking off the previous morning. Our Proverb for today says in verses 11-12 MSG “Rescue the perishing; don’t hesitate to step in and help. If you say, “Hey, that’s none of my business,” will that get you off the hook? Someone is watching you closely, you know—Someone not impressed with weak excuses.” Be a rescuer and go the extra mile and not one who makes excuses….be GREATER!

  4. 45. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Now that Saul, a hater of the church, has been filled; and the Gentile barrier has been broken, we should no longer be astonished by who God fills with the Holy Ghost. Don’t rule anyone out as a candidate.

    2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

  5. Acts 10 : 9-10-11 On the morrow,as they went on their journey, and drew nigh into the city , Peter went up upon the house top to pray about the sixth hour.
    10) And He became very hungry, and would have eaten, but while they made ready, he fell into a trance.
    11) And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners and let down to the earth.
Wow what a time Peter in prayer.
The Baptized of the Holy Ghost is for Everyone, it doesn’t what color you are or race you are ,or what you done.
You never know what will happen or show up in prayer time.

  6. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! I was so intrigued by God telling Peter 3 times that it was almost funny. It’s so awesome God knows us so well!!

  7. Cornelius stared at him in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the angel. And the angel replied, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering!
Acts of the Apostles 10:4 NLT

God sees your gifts, he hears your prayers and knows all that you’re doing. It’s easy to get caught up in this world and to think that you’ve been forgotten or that what you’re doing is for naught, but God has a perfect record of keeping track of what we do that way cannot be overseen. He sees our struggling and he hears our cries, God always answers.

  8. Acts of the Apostles 10:13-14
[13]Then a voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.”
[14]“No, Lord,” Peter declared. “I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.”

We always should obey the Lord.

    Deuteronomy 5:33
Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

    Deuteronomy 28:1
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.

  9. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

“He saw in a vision”. What has God showed us before? Have we forgot the promises he gave us? We need to rekindle a flame of promise in our lives! We need to reach for those God had promised would be saved or come home as the prodigal son came home.

Or what about the vision of our church? We need to get that in our spirit because it is what is intended for the POFW!

  10. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

It couldn’t be more easy to receive remission of your sins. The first thing you must do is believe.
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭NLT “But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.”
‭‭John 3:16 KJV for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

  11. 48 and he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ then pray they him to tarry certain days.
    ——
    Wow !
    This man Peter .
The Lord look at the willingness of the individual ( the soul)
Here is Peter just being a vessel, a man with no school history, uneducated and else, yet the Lord chose him
    For his ministry.
    What a man!
He commanded them to be baptized, it was a burden, it was something that needed it to be done, I believe he also explained and went back to scripture.
It he did what needed to be done.
    Which was the Lords will.
    In Jesus name.

  12. “In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10:35‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s heartbreaking to know some believe that there is a chain of favoritism due to the simple pigmentation of skin.

We are all equally blessed with the opportunity to worship Him regardless of nationality or skin color

  13. 1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited continually.

Cornelius is an example of a man who lived up to the vision that God gave him. while this vision was not sufficient to save him, God ensured that he was given the additional light of the gospel. Before Peter’s visitation, he did feel a kinship with those who worshiped the true God.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  14. “No, Lord,” Peter declared. “I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.” But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.” The same vision was repeated three times. Then the sheet was suddenly pulled up to heaven.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10:14-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Peter told them, “You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean. So I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. Now tell me why you sent for me.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10:28-29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God is not merely trying to change Peter’s belief about food, but much more importantly his beliefs about people. Peter later says, “It is thought unlawful for a Jewish man to visit or associate with one of another nation. But God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.” That was the real lesson of the vision. The bag of creatures symbolized the many nations of human beings. God shuns nobody who fears him and does what is right. God loves the whole wide world.

  15. GREATER
RADICALLY APOSTOLIC PRAYER = RADICALLY APOSTOLIC OBEDIENCE = RADICALLY APOSTOLIC REVIVAL

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

What Peter witnessed in prayer was a revelation of the salvation of JESUS. I believer there are souls that JESUS will guide us to speak the WORD of GOD and just like here, those that hear the WORD of GOD will receive the Holy Ghost.

JESUS I pray today that you will guide us in prayer to those that are seeking you and that we will speak your WORD with boldness and witness your works GREATER than evrer before.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS
iSee a REVIVAL and HARVEST building that is GREATER than anything I have ever seen coming to The POFW.

  16. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Thank You Jesus we all have opportunity to know Him and br saved!

  17. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

There is just one way to be saved in the New Testament and it was for the Jews 1st, then the Samaritans and now for the Gentiles. We all must repent, be baptized in the only saving name-Jesus, and be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues like we read here today. One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all…Let the apostolic doctrine spread like fire through the region of our church! Greater Harvest and Revival!

  18. 39“And we apostles are witnesses of all he did throughout Judea and in Jerusalem.

Be a witness to others. Tell them what God done in your life. Put your faith in God, and all will be good.

  19. Acts 10:34-36 (ESV)
    34) So Peter opened his mouth and said: Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,
    35) But in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
    36) As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through JESUS CHRIST (He is Lord of all).

    “He Is Lord Of All”
So Thankful that God shows no partiality, no favoritism – He is no respecter of persons. He accepts those who fear Him and does what is right. So Thankful for the Good News of Peace (of Salvation) through JESUS. The Door – the Way – of Salvation was opened to us Gentiles. Truly HE IS LORD OF ALL!!

  20. Cornelius a devout man, was given instructions by an angel of whom to talk to for complete revelation of the gospel. He was a devout man, yet did not have the full revelation. Cornelius obeyed what the angel said.

Peter, the key to the revelation, saw in a trance and the Lord spoke to him, about the instructions given to Cornelius by the angel.

It took both men to be obedient for Cornelius and all his house to be saved. Who has God sent an angel to visit, that is way for the key to unlock the gospel to them? We are those keys. We must be obedient to tell them, so that they too can find true salvation.

  21. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

There is no color of skin that is rejected but what HE does see is our intentions, our thoughts and our attitudes. Our sin is seen until we ask for forgiveness and we repent (to turn away from that which we are forgiven) HALELUJAH!!!

  22. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

They obeyed the word of God, not whenever they felt like it but immediately as they received his word. It is our flesh that we have to fight against we have to sacrifice our flesh in order to hear the word of God. I

  23. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER
Peter is what you call a “visual” learner. He needed a clear vision from the Lord in order to accurately describe what would allow the Gentiles into the local assembly. No longer was salvation only for the Jews, but now those who were once considered unclean are allowed in.

  24. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
    *****************
In the events that has been going on in our family this last two weeks ( even before) I know that my prayers and all the prayers that are being prayed are being brought up before God. I am seeing answered prayers each day.
God has taken an awful tragedy and is making something good come from it. Just to have had my daughter and her husband come to Wed. night service was a miracle. They have been approved to move into a house, which they have being wanting to do for a long time. God is so wonderful and I am so thankful. Still praying for salvation for all of my family. I can see it. God is so good.

  25. The Living Bible
    vs: 44-46
Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those listening! The Jews who came with Peter were amazed that the gifts of the Holy Spirit would be given to the Gentiles too! But there could be no doubt about it, (for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

Vs These verses explain the appearance of tongues in this situation. The fact that Gentiles we’re given this gift, just as the apostles had been on Pentecost (Act -2)was proof of God’s acceptance of Gentiles into the church. Peter’s phrase “at the beginning” suggest that this event was not only unusual because it involved Gentiles, but also because speaking in tongues was a common phenomenon in the early church.

  26. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

To believe in Jesus means to obey him. We repent to Jesus, We get baptized in Jesus name, and we receive the Holy Ghost in Jesus name. If we say that we believe and do not obey, we lie and are not saved.

  27. Then a voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.” “No, Lord,” Peter declared. “I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.” But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”
Acts of the Apostles 10:13‭-‬15 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.10.13-15.NLT

Funny it never says that was God’s voice, yet Peter knew how to respond. Jesus declared that his sheep will know His Voice.

  28. Acts 10
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on them which heard the word.

This is wonderful! Trusting Jesus and listening to the word of God, then speaking in tongues. I hope this will happen quickly in our church as well.

  29. Greater
    Salvation Is For All People

v45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

God had to convince Peter that salvation was for all people. As , we respond to His gospel we too will receive that same experience as the Jews did at Pentecost.

  30. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

    And now send…
Look what being faithful on prayers and giving unlocked for Cornelius. God was granting the authority to act on his prayers. Now send men to Joppa. Seek for a prayer life and a life of giving that God will honor and answers.

  31. 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

I am guilty of complicating God so much that He seems unattainable to some people. Yet the reality is He wasn’t to work with us where we are if all you have is “being a good person” use that and He will elevate you.

Good people walk with God and allow His spirit to lead them. They bring healing to those around them.

  32. 26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

We are servants of God and representatives of his word. That means we must uphold what his word says and not take credit for it. God will show us what he wants us to do.

  33. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
    Acts 10:34,35

Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Psalm 15:1,2 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

    Thank you Jesus!!

  34. 40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

He has given us this same power, to preach the Gospel to those we know and come in contact with, to do miracles in His name, and to pray as those speak in that beautiful new language. We have been given that power. How will you mind the Lord and what he has given, better yet instructed?

  35. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

  36. “He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Cornelius lead his family by being an example of a devout, God-fearing man. It’s very important how we lead our lives. What examples are we giving to those around us?

  37. “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:43‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Every apostolic knows the steps to salvation but there’s a key before repenting baptism and an infilling of the Holy Ghost takes places and that’s for the individual to believe. You can talk someone’s ear off for hours but if they don’t believe then what’s the point. I start off every Bible study like this “do you believe what this Bible says?” “Do you believe absolutely every single word in this book?” Then if they say yes the only thing they’re arguing with is Jesus. At that point it’s out of my hands. We have to compel the people, we have to win the people, we have to SHOW the people that there is a leader inside of them and they have a purpose for the Kingdom of God.

  38. 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

  39. And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
