Acts 12

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

  1. Acts of the Apostles 12:5-7
[5]But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
[6]The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.
[7]Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.

If someone is in a physical prison or a prison within themselves pray for them. Prayers can move mountains. Our God can break every chain of anything that has a hold on someone. Thank you Jesus.

    Chain Breaker
    Song by Zach Williams

If you’ve been walking the same old road for miles and miles
If you’ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies
If you’re trying to fill the same old holes inside
    There’s a better life
    There’s a better life
    If you’ve got pain
    He’s a pain taker
    If you feel lost
    He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
    He’s a prison-shaking Savior
    If you’ve got chains
    He’s a chain breaker
We’ve all search for the light of day in the dead of night
We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight
We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right
    And there’s a better life
    There’s a better life
    If you’ve got pain
    He’s a pain taker
    If you feel lost
    He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
    He’s a prison-shaking Savior
    If you’ve got chains
    He’s a chain breaker
    If you believe it
    If you receive it
    If you can feel it

Don’t give up on your situation. Even if it feels like you are in chains behind steel gates, God can turn your situation around so fast it will make your head spin.

  3. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

There is nothing that can keep you bound if GOD wants you loosed. HE hears our prayers and will answer according to HIS will. Nothing is impossible with GOD.

Peters relationship with Christ having creased and gotten so close by this time that the night before his execution he had enough faith to be able to sleep even though he was in bondage and prison. The closer we get to Jesus the more our faith increases and the worries of this world mean little to us.

  5. GREATER
    RADICALLY APOSTOLIC PRAYER

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

The Apostolic Church of JESUS. The POFW possesses this APOSTOLIC asset of prison door opening, chain breaking, fetter loosing, gate opening PRAYER. We who have been BORN AGAIN of Water and Spirit have received this APOSTOLIC authority.

Let us not grow weary in PRAYER at this pivotal hour, this critical moment in time. souls and eternity are weighing in the balance, JESUS is calling HIS church to tip the balance through PRAYER in favor of those in need.

Lets GO make the House of the LORD a House of PRAYER today in JESUS Name.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iLive
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS
iSee a REVIVAL and HARVEST building that is GREATER than anything I have ever seen coming to The POFW.

  6. Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me!”

    WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?
God moves so fiercely in our lives sometimes we have this same epiphany. God moves mountains, calms storms, breaks chains, or makes waves and we are standing in the midst watching Him work, with WONDER on our faces. And when the dust settles we have to look a few times to figure out what just happened! What a MIGHTY GOD!!

  7. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

It is true that the Lord knows what we need before we ask. We can see here the power of non stop prayer. The Lord could have used anyone to do the works of Peter, however due to the prayer petitions the Lord made a way to use Peter.

  8. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Pride cost Herod his life because he raised himself up and did not give God the glory. We must be careful to not allow the spirit of pride to creep into our lives. It can be very subtle and we not recognize what is happening. If we talk about “me” more than anything, I’m prideful. If I do things to bring attention to “me”, it’s pride. “i” and “me”, “my” don’t belong in every conversation. We take credit for things that don’t belong to us. Just as we shouldn’t give the enemy credit for everything, we shouldn’t take the credit either.

Anything that I accomplish, it is only because of the grace and mercy of God. Anything that I am is only because of His grace and mercy. We must not get lifted up in our own eyes, that God can’t use us because we take credit for it.

  9. Acts 12:5, 7, 9, & 16
    5) Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

    7) And, behold, and angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

    9) And he went out, and followed him:…

    16) But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished (surprised, amazed).

St. Mark 11:22-24 came to my mind when reading the above scriptures…
    22) And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have FAITH in God.
    23) For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass: he shall have whatsoever he saith.
    24) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye PRAY, BELIEVE that ye RECEIVE them, and ye shall have them.
I believe this is that Radical Prayer that Pastor was talking about Wednesday night.

We PRAYED last night, We are BELIEVING today that people are going to RECEIVE — Salvation, Yokes Destroyed, Chains Being Loosed, Light Shining In the Darkness and Prisoners-Captives Set Free, Blind Eyes Being Opened, Wounds Being Healed, And So Much More – GREATER THINGS! In JESUS Name!!

  10. The Kingdom of God is GREATER
Act 12:24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

Here we notice that the Word of God grew and multiplied as soon as King Herod was struck down and eaten by worms. I reckon that’s one way to grow the church…but seriously when the fear of God fills a place most time the nonsense stops.

  11. The Living bible
    The Door
Jesus knocks at the door to our hearts and waits for us to invite Him in. When we pray , let’s throw open the doors of our lives and eagerly look for God’s answer to appear.
    Miracle
God’s act of intervention on behalf of Peter reminds us that the Lord did not desert the original Jewish church when Luke’s focus shifts to Gentile evangelism . Just because we’re not on the front pages of our newspapers doesn’t mean God is not actively involved in our lives.

  12. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

When you feel stuck and imprisoned, do not worry, the church is praying for you! God will lead you out if you are sensitive and don’t stop believing!

  13. Acts 12: 14-15-16 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in,and told how Peter stood before the gate.
    15) And they said unto her,Thou art made, But she constantly affirmed that it was even so, Them said they,lt is his angel.
    16) But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
When a door opens , take faith and open it up.
Rev. 4: 20 Behold I stand at the door and knock; If any man hear My voice, and open the door,I will come in to him,and will sup with him, and he with me.
Thank you Jesus for faith and your Knowledge.

  14. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! What a great inspiring part of the word! Another great miracle by my God! I love his boldness and sensitivity. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
And God added daily to his ministry.

  15. There is NO SITUATION that our God can’t change!!!! There is no chain in this world that is going un breakable for our God FOR HE BREAKS EVERY CHAIN!!! It doesn’t matter how many guards they chain to you when HE SETS YOU FREE YOU ARE FREE!!!! God will step into your situation lose what needs to be lose and tighten wha needs to be tighten and all FOR HIS GLORY!!! So when He does YOU BETTER PRAISE HIM AND TELL EVERYONE WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR YOU!! He saved me, He healed me, He provided for me, and HE CHANGE EVERYTHING FOR HIS GLORY!! Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus!!! No one does it like my JESUS!!!

  16. 17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

The prayers of the church was heard for Peter and the Lord had more for him to do. He didn’t leave the city and protect his own life, rather he went to comfort the brethren first before he sought refuge. Peter was kingdom minded first and foremost.

  17. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

When the Church prays unto God without ceasing, things will happen. Revival, souls saved, healings, miracles and deliverances will happen.

  18. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

We as the people of God can never stop praying. Prayer still works in this time. We cannot allow the enemy to keep us from what God has for us. We are stronger with him ten we are by ourselves.

  19. Verses 1-4 MSG “ That’s when King Herod got it into his head to go after some of the church members. He murdered James, John’s brother. When he saw how much it raised his popularity ratings with the Jews, he arrested Peter—all this during Passover Week, mind you—and had him thrown in jail, putting four squads of four soldiers each to guard him. He was planning a public lynching after Passover.” Genesis 50:20-21 AMP tells us “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present outcome, that many people would be kept alive [as they are this day]. So now, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and support you and your little ones.” So he comforted them [giving them encouragement and hope] and spoke [with kindness] to their hearts.” My God is GREATER and He can turn things around!

  20. Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working, pray in the Holy Ghost always.

Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but heareth the prayer of the righteous.

    Greater Power in Prayer!

  21. Greater
    Power of God’s Wrath

v22 “ It is the voice of a god, and not of a man “

We must be careful to give God all the glory, and not glory in our selfies.
Herod immediately was smote with a deadly disease . Infested with worms, and he died.

  22. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

GOD deserves all the glory and praise because HE is good to all us no matter what!
GOD always prevails no matter what situation we are in!
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  23. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Because the church prayed the lord delivered!your prayer is what’s gonna bring your son back home, your daughter back home, your mom or dad. The key is in your prayers. You may not see him moving you not even feel him moving but it is your prayer and worship that makes God move

  24. Acts 12

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Prayer is what will give you strength. We must petition the Lord with prayer. Pray in the Holy Ghost!!
Thank you Jesus for this day.

  25. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

The gospel expands its outreach continually. God makes the wrath of man praise Him, and the remainder of wrath He restrains ( Ps 76:10) He makes the devices of the people of no effect, but the counsel of the Lord stands forever (Ps 33:10,11)

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Whom and what are you giving glory to?

As mentioned in today’s MIT; Humility will take beyond power. Some that have been in ministry have not learned this. They’re ’ serving’ to build their own kingdom(s). But we all know that only ONE KINGDOM stands forever… The KINGDOM OF OUR LORD!

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“A man may think that he is great. He will really destroy himself in the end. A man may think that he is better than everyone else. A man like that will soon fall.”

    Don’t lie

  29. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

Put all the armor of God, to be strong in the midnight hour. I was reading these verse and suddenly I remembered that we have to have all the armor of God to resist all the evil. We just started seeing how all the scenery before the end times is Setting up. We have to have the seal of God in our head( mind) and in our hand( actions), to be recognized by the Lord., and be worthy to be stand before Him. In Jesus name!

  30. 15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Do you believe what you pray will come to pass? This really stood out to me. Obviously they were exposed to a great ministry and word by the apostles themselves and it was evident that there was a measure of faith or else they would nat have even prayed. Despite that, I question why wouldn’t they belive the girl that their answer was at the door? Isn’t that who they were praying for and what they were praying for, (for Peter to be released) but instead they called her crazy. They prayed without ceasing (says the word) but were they expecting to receive an answer? Thou art mad… someone replied. This let’s me know that nlt all in the church house will have the kind of crazy faith that you have. Not all will pray with expecting to receive the answers yet still prayer changes things.

  31. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

MY DADDY ALWAYS GETS THE GLORY!!! HALELUJAH!!! WE aren’t important….THE KINGDOM OF GOD doesn’t need us!!! We NEED THE KINGDOM OF GOD!!! We aren’t doing HIM any favors!!! Let us seek to be humble!!! Help me JESUS

  32. 10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

God took peter far enough for him to realize God had helped him out.

  33. “So Peter was kept in prison, but fervent and persistent prayer for him was being made to God by the church.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

There is always someone interceding for you even when you may not know it. Though you may go through trials and tribulations know that someone is there with you standing in the gap. So when you are going through do not draw away from those in the church but draw near.

  34. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

  35. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

Prayer changes things it is the line to communicate with God.

  36. In these last two weeks I have seen a lot of answered prayers, and I am giving God all the Glory. I praise ye Jesus for all you are doing for us in a time of need. Answered prayers, man can and will only do what they are able but God can turn things around and make things happen. He is a waymaker. I am thankful for all those that have helped and those that have prayed. I am so thankful for answered prayers.
