James 2

1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

  1. 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

We must come to Jesus in faith in all things that we ask of Him because without faith it’s not worthy to come to the throne of Jesus. Got to have faith as little as a mustard seed and believe for it.
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  2. James 2:1,3,13
[1]My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?
[3]If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well,
[13]There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

We are all equal in the eyes of God

  3. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

This scripture wasn’t written to us per sa, however it is written for us. Likewise the same principle can apply to us. Our righteousness can thusly be due to being full of faith, which will be seen in our obedience to the Lord.

  4. 18. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

    20. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

    26. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Don’t just tell me you believe; show me you believe.
    For example:
If someone told you there was a spider about to bite your hand and you told them you believed them but you didn’t move your hand, they would know you didn’t really believe them; but if you moved your hand, they would know you believed them, whether you said it or not.

  5. 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

This scripture seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable, but for me it’s what shows us the nature of God regarding faithfulness and action. Had heard or read somewhere a while back that Martin Luther was not very fond of this book because of the scripture due to his passion for preaching Grace whatever you separated from the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, whether it makes us uncomfortable or not the fact is that God requires our faithfulness to be carried out and her lifestyle through our obedience

  6. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

We can say we believe in God all day but your actions are what shows God you believe in him. Actions speak louder then words.

  7. 17 NLT “So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.”
    ‭‭
It’s very simple, action speaks louder than words. Show your faith through your works.

  8. 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Like the prayer unto GOD for a job but the person refuses to apply for a job…..he has faith for a job but doesnt put in any effort to seek a job by applying…..like the story of the person that was on the roof of a flooding house praying for GOD to help, GOD sent a boat but the person refused to get inthe boat, then GOD sent a helicopter and the person still refused help…. GOD wants to help and maybe HE sends us help just not in the way we are expecting. I have to check my spirit constantly when I go through a situation and am asking GOD to intervene, i don’t want to miss out on GOD’S hand in my life just because of an attitude, sometimes it’s the attitude of entitlement of being a child of GOD can get in the way. Sometimes that entitlement can run us right into a poverty mentality if we dont watch ourselves …..we don’t want that!!! I JUST NEED YOU JESUS!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  9. 12 so speak ye and si días they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
    ——
Yeap a good reminder, and not just at church
But everywhere . Treat others the way I want to be treated.
At the store, at work, at church, at home , at the park…
Treat people with respect even when we think they don’t deserve it.
    People noticed.
    God is good.

  10. Faith with out works us dead!

If we say we believe in God but do nothing to expand his kingdom do we really believe it?

We can say that we want to build a new church but if we don’t sacrificially then do we really believe.

God is calling to put action into our belief! Put your money where your mouth is. If you say you have faith then act on it!

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  11. 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Love thy neighbor!!!!! That by itself means so very much!!! Think about it if all of us were to love thy neighbor as you love thy self, you won’t steal from them, you won’t covent anything they have, you won’t kill them, you will NOT SOEAK ILL OF THEM (gossip), all 10 commandments will be followed by just loving thy neighbor as you love thy self. In summary if you are doing any evil to your neighbor YOU DONT LOVE YOURSELF!!!! Do good to ALL (without judgement, without excluding anyone) and you will be showing the REAL JESUS IN YOU!!! Embrace all your brothers and sisters (not just those that can do something for you), do not keep count of the good you do, only GOD needs to know, everyone else is already watching you!!! They know the good and the bad you do, the majority of the time they will focus on the bad DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED CONTINUE TO DO GOOD TO ALL CREATURES!!! FOR ALL HIS CREATIONS ARE GOOD!!

  12. Verses 25-26 MSG “The same with Rahab, the Jericho harlot. Wasn’t her action in hiding God’s spies and helping them escape—that seamless unity of believing and doing—what counted with God? The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.” You can’t say one thing and do another. You can’t say “yes” and do nothing! Ephesians 2:7-10 MSG “Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.” Be GREATER and get to work!

  13. 8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Something we all struggle with as humans. Often our minds run a list of judgements as we analyze our surroundings including the people around us. We immediately judge the people around us – fair enough, but what we do following is what matters. We must be careful to not judge who is worthy of hearing the gospel because ALL are worthy in the eyes of God. There is room in the house of God for EVERYBODY regardless of what we think about some people.. Lead us to love as You love Jesus.

  14. 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

In order to see miracles we have to have bold faith and pray fervently with no question on if God can do it or not.

  15. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. 20Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

  16. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Let us by faith do the work if the Lord

  17. “The same with Rahab, the Jericho harlot. Wasn’t her action in hiding God’s spies and helping them escape—that seamless unity of believing and doing—what counted with God? The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Faith, we all have it. Right? Yes, of course!

Though your faith may challenge the human mind, it is when we get over the doubt and fear that we are able to TRUST GOD wholeheartedly to see what HE will do as we take that step of faith. Abraham loved and trusted GOD at His word. As a parent could you imagine how he felt as GOD asked him to sacrifice his son. Did he question GOD? Did Abraham fear? Did Abraham question God? Or did he simply put all of his TRUST in the LORD?
How would I react if the LORD would have asked me for a sacrifice like that?!! Don’t be taken by surprise.
Where are my children that have left? No matter what i think or others think or say. The word of GOD never fails.

  18. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

The Baptist have such a hard time with this scripture. Most time their eyes glaze over when folk quote this verse. They don’t get the concept that works show you have faith.

  19. 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. We must have faith and believe that all things are possible.

  20. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

James points out that faith with works is real faith. But without works it is useless. Let’s not just talk the talk but let’s walk the walk.

  21. Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Faith and deeds (or actions) are essential to each other just like the body and the  spirit. Apart from the spirit or the “breath” of life our body is dead. In the same way, apart from the evidence of works our faith is dead.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Heb. 11:6).

  22. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
    *******************
It is easy to say you believe in one God, it is another to live and serve the one true God. Yes, the devils believe and tremble for they know Who He is and how He will one day cast them into the pit. It’s not enough to just believe, we must also serve, have complete faith and live so others will see His Spirit in us. We let opportunities go by, we miss the mark to connect to the unbelievers. We think there will be another time. But, what if there isn’t!! Live, Serve, Obey, Give, Pray and most of all Praise.
Speak the name ‘JESUS’ and serve Him with all your heart.❤

  23. The Living bible
    vs-5
Listen to me,dear brothers:God has chosen poor people to be rich in faith, and the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs ,for that is the gift God has promised to all those who love them.

There is no special merit in poverty. But the poor are more likely to choose God. They sense their desperate need while the wealthy tend to depend on their riches. Riches corrupt character , driving the wealthy to exploit the poor and despise the spiritual.
    Matt:5-3
Humble men are very fortunate!! He told them, for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.
    Mark:10-23
Jesus watched him go, then turned around and said to his disciples, It’s almost impossible for the rich to get into the Kingdom of God!!
    Mark:10-25
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.

  24. James 2:18 & 20
    18) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

    20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

True Faith always has Works accompanying it, and our Faith is shown and known by our Works.

  25. AMP – 2 Speak and act [consistently] as people who are going to be judged by the law of liberty [that moral law that frees obedient Christians from the bondage of sin]. 13 For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; but [to the one who has shown mercy] mercy triumphs [victoriously] over judgment.

We must be consistent as christians. Our testimony is worthless if we are wishy washy and you can’t depend on what we say or do. If we love souls, then we love all souls and regardless of their stance in life, we reach them. We can hate the sin but love the soul of the sinner regardless of their sin. We must look beyond the flesh they live in and see their eternal soul and where it is headed.

Jesus help us to have the attitude of Charlie MaHaney, if God gives us another day, please give us another soul to reach!

  26. GREATER
    WORKS

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

The apostle hammers this point to the church in this general epistle or letter to the church. We MUST add Acts to our FAITH or we have NO FAITH in the eyes of the LORD.

The word WORKS is 2041. ergon, er´-gon; from ergo (to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by implication, an act: — deed, doing, labour, work.

It is HIGH TIME to arise from the confines of the constraints of covid and any other imposed restrictions on our WORKS and GO out to meet HIM. Behold the Bridegroom Cometh! Lets get to WORK!

Somebody needs a Bible Study, someone needs a ride, someone needs a word of encouragement, someone needs a meal, someone needs a helper, we understand WORK at The POFW. I want to ensure we understand FAITH also.

We clean windows in FAITH, we cut grass in FAITH, we GO to outreach in FAITH, we open doors in FAITH, we pull weeds in FAITH, we call those missing in FAITH, we attend worship in FAITH, we attend Prayer in FAITH, we clean the Church building in FAITH, we drive buses and vans in FAITH.

The NLT says it pretty clear:

17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
18 Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God.[f] Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
21 Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. 23 And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”[g] He was even called the friend of God.[h] 24 So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.

iSee a REVIVAL and HARVEST building that is GREATER than anything I have ever seen coming to The POFW.

  27. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
The book of James is so inspiring to me. He explains that faith without the 613 commencements there in the word of God is death faith it’s very sad that many believers think that they don’t have to obey them we are obeyed them because we are saved not to be saved.
Revelation 14;12, Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

  28. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Anyone who hears the word but does not change his behavior is like a man who takes a fleeting glance in the mirror each morning, then completely forgets what he saw. He derives no benefit from the mirror or from looking into it. Of course, there are some things about our appearance that cannot be changed. But at least we should be humbled by the sight! And when the mirror says “wash” or “shave” do as we are told. Otherwise, the mirror is of no practical benefit to us.
It is easy to read the Bible casually or because of a sense of duty without being affected by what we read. We see what we ought to be but we quickly fidget and live as if we were already perfect. This type of self-satisfaction prevents spiritual progress

    A.L.M.A.S.

  29. 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

  30. James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can Faith save him?

Must have FAITH and WORKS to have REVIVAL!

  31. ‘Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.’

    James 2:26
We cant make it to heaven with works alone but faith without good works is dead i believe this is the answer for those that say once saved always saved. Just because you believe doesnt mean youre in the pearly gates you gotta put that faith to the works and live for Jesus

  32. 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Our works are those we do everyday,.How we act, how we portrayed ourselves before men, how we love and help our neighbor, and how reject the sin and we try to be pure before our God.
Matthew 3:8 said: Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.
Our Lord help us to bare much fruit. In Jesus name!

  33. My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

    2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? God sees our heart not want we look like

  34. 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

We are dead without Jesus. The spirit is God and we are the body, and without Him we are dead. Faith without belief is dead too. I pray this night that we are all believing and recognize in order to not be dead!!!

  35. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

This is talking about without faith without works is dead so for us that means us without Jesus we will get to see him but we won’t be with him

  36. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

You can’t live partially holy. If we are going to live holy, we must live to the fullest extent. God has called his people to do that which is right. We have the victory.

  37. “If, however, you are [really] fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, if you have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]” you are doing well.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We are a representation of Christ. What we do people will see. This is why hospitality is important. Those are the first faces guest see when they come into the church. We must not judge because so were we onceZ our job as Christian’s is to lead them to Christ. You can’t lead someone to Christ by being hypocritical and judging. Show the love of Christ to all you may come in contact with because we represent Christ and the church.

  38. 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

  39. For just as the [human] body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works [of obedience] is also dead.
    James 2:26 AMP

Faith is demonstrated by works of obedience. S simple example is your faithfulness in tithes. You obey by giving God the tithes and offering believing, having faith in, that God will be true to his word and bless you by rebuking the devourer and blessing you on the increase of your offering.

  40. 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I must put action to my faith. It will activate the process to the blessings of God.

  41. “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We all have a measure of faith that God has given us. When we step out on that faith, we humble ourselves and allow God to have His way in our lives. If we want to be Kingdom minded and have God’s Will be done, we have to make sure our faith is in Him to make a way

  42. Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. (‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭21-24‬ NLT)

Our Faith should match our actions. Our passion should match our expectation. Each and everyone of us have so much potential to get MORE accomplished. We haven’t seen nothing yet. If each individual would put 110% into the kingdom of God, He can take the region Fort Worth by using us. We are His body He needs hands and feet and a heart of compassion to use. POFW has what it takes.

    • Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.
      James 2:26 NLT

      https://bible.com/bible/116/jas.2.26.NLT

We can’t just believe that something is going to come to pass. We have to work towards that effort. It is that work towards a desired outcome that shows our faith

  43. James 4

2 “you do not have, because you do not ask God.
3 ” When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

Ask and you shall receive. This is for those who are righteous with our Lord. Jesus is not “Santa Clause”. We must be right with God and seek out God’s will, not mans. When you are righteous Jesus will bless you.
Thank you Jesus for this day.
