Read Proverbs Chapter 3

James 5

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

  1. James 5:13
Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.

Prayers and praises can move mountains. In hard and good times sing praises. We serve a great and mighty God. With God all things are possible.

  2. 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

It is understandable to equally wait for the coming of the Lord with Earnest anticipation we should keep in mind that God is not done. The reason why he has not called us up is because there are still more people to reach, there are more people that need to hear the gospel I need to hear his word. It is up to us, to do just that. In the book of Revelations, John wrote “come quickly Lord,” being in a place of destitute by himself but James instructs us, the church, to wait patiently for it because the Lord has not finished with the bride and the fruit of the Earth.

  3. 8. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

    9. Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look-the Judge is standing at the door! NLT

    BEHOLD, THE BRIDE GROOM COMETH!!

  4. 7-8 NKJV “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”
    ‭‭
JESUS is coming soon! It’s not always easy to be patient especially in times of trials, but it will be worth it in the end. We must rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him.
James 1:2-3 NKJV “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
    ‭‭

  5. James 5:8 & 10-11 (MSG)
    8) Be patient like that. Stay steady and strong. The Master could arrive at any time.

10-11) Take the old prophets as your mentors. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You’ve heard, of course, of Job’s staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.

In the day and hour in which we are living, it’s important to be Patient and Stay Steady and Strong in the Lord because He could come at any time.
    BUT
If we feel like we are loosing our Patience and not as Steady and Strong as we should be, then it’s time to Get Into The Word and Reread about the Prophets and Job of how they Put Up With Anything, Went Through Everything, and Yet they Never Quit – They Stayed The Course – Honoring God the whole time. Let them become our Mentor / our Example.

No matter what we may have to Put Up With or Go Through, we must Be Patient – Steady and Strong – Never Quit – Stay the Course – Honor God through it all, Because the Lord Could Come At Any Time Now, and He has A Gift Of Life for us.

  6. ‘Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. ‘

    James 5:16

Today I strive to not only seek ye first the Kingdom but also after his righteousness. We can get so headstrong on seeking first the Kingdom of God that we often stop right there. But this scripture says the earnest prayer of a RIGHTEOUS man has great power and produces wonderful results. You want power? You want authority in the Spirit? You want your ministry to grow? Seek his righteousness on top of the Kingdom.

I’m guilty for it…I’m guilty to seek his Kingdom and seek people for his kingdom that I don’t take enough time to seek his righteousness like I should. I’m learning that there’s a balance with just about everything we do ha! But I want power prayers so I strive today for righteousness.

  7. “let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As we reach out for souls it is only with the LOVE of Jesus Christ. We are not here to condemn or send people to hell, because as Jesus we want all to come to Him with a heart of repentance and be born again.

“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  8. Verses 7-9 MSG “Meanwhile, friends, wait patiently for the Master’s Arrival. You see farmers do this all the time, waiting for their valuable crops to mature, patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work. Be patient like that. Stay steady and strong. The Master could arrive at any time. Friends, don’t complain about each other. A far greater complaint could be lodged against you, you know. The Judge is standing just around the corner.” It is time to maturely be steady and strong for “Behold the Bridegroom Cometh”! Be GREATER and let it rain:

Let it rain, let it rain.
    Open the floodgates of Heaven

The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad
    Let the distance shores rejoice
Clouds and thick darkness surround him
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne
A fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side
His lightning lights up the world
    The earth sees and trembles
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord
Before the Lord of all the earth
    The Heavens proclaim His righteousness
And all peoples will see His Glory

  9. GREATER
    DONT EVER QUIT

11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

How many GREAT ministries are content with being good ministries? How many good ministries never beceome ministries because they fail to endure the hardships of development. Every GREAT man or woman of GOD has had opportunity to quit on numerous occasions.

    BUT

There is a HAPPY life where one endures hardship to become.

Carnal people get mad at men of GOD, when men of GOD are only the vessels of GOD to be used to make others GREAT. Carnality only sees the frustration of the flesh and seek an outlet or man to blame. While GREAT men and women see the hand of GOD and recognize that JESUS is in control of our destiined future.

Do not be guilty of giving man too much credit or blame for success or hardship. After all only those who endure are HAPPY. DO NOT quit! Keep serving, JESUS is witness to every thing.

  10. 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

When we do the work of the Lord by setting a good example and witnessing, we are also storing up treasures in heaven for ourselves.

  11. The Living bible
    vs-12
But most of all, dear brothers ,do not swear either by heaven or earth or anything else, just say a simple yes or no so that you will not sin and be condemned for it.

    Don’t swear.
Why the emphasis on discontinuing the use of oaths? Because our patient waiting requires us to live such an honest life that our integrity rather than an oath will convince others that we are speaking the truth.

  13. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER
Wow! This is powerful. The Word gives us insight into the prayer of Elijah. He was not a super hero, but he was a man with the same kind of passions like we have. All we need to do pray to be just like him

  14. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

Prayer! Prayer by faith in Jesus Name is unstoppable because our God can do all things!

  15. 12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

    19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

I lot of people see a prodigal and judge them instead we should embrace them, tell them how much we miss them, and love on them. Check on them daily, lead them with LOVE to repentance. A lot of them don’t come back because of the fear of judgement, the way we look at them by the corner of our eyes, sometimes don’t even acknowledge them being there. We are losing them through technicalities. Now you know, next time let’s run and embrace them, let take them out for a meal, check what they been up to (without judgement), and PRAY FERVENTLY FOR THEIR REPENTANCE!!!

  16. ESV – 19 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

    1 Peter 4:8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

We have heard it said many times, love covers a multitude of sin, and I never really understood what that meant. However, I have come to understand that a love for an individual can be so strong, that no matter how far that have indulged in sin, the love we have for them as a person, as a christian, as a disciple of Jesus Christ can reach for them, pull them from the pit of hell, and not hold those sins against them. Just like Jesus forgives and never remembers it any longer, we can do the same. Our love can cover their sin, and allow them a clean slate to begin new life.

  17. I love POFW LIVE JESUS GIVE JESUS2 GREATER! 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
God is so awesome to forgive our sins! And our faith prayers can heal the sick! Thank you Jesusfor loving us and dieing on the cross to save us from our sins!

  18. 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

It’s always time to look inward at our ways, but esp now. It is also time to reach others because we know his coming is soon. Even those in the world know things are changing around us. We must direction them to look for their Redeemer.

  19. James 5: 14-15 Is any sick among you?
Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
    15) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Don’t guit trying, Just put your faith and Trust in the Lord to work .
All things work together for those that love the Lord.

  20. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

Through the good times and bad we must always stay connected in prayer with Jesus because He is the one in control.
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  21. “My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5:19-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This is my hearts desire. I pray that everyone who has wandered away would be brought back. I pray that God would give us wisdom on how to bring them back.

  22. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

The farmer waits for the crop. He must be patient. Every generation has looked for the coming of the Lord. When the time is right, he will come, either by the grave or by the rapture.

  23. 11 Behold we c hunt them happy which endure
Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is very putrid full and of tender mercy.
    —/
I just thought about one of brother Arnold’s Sermons
    I remember him saying this:
“ the end of the Lord”
The word didn’t say the end of Job, but instead the end of the Lord.
    Interesting…

  24. 9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door

We must show Godly love to one another. Don’t allow hate to manifest in your life. The enemy would like nothing more, but to see the church divided. We are all one in him.

  25. James 5
20 My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.

In my life I have always thought if I can help to save one persons life, that my life has been worthwhile. To be able to help bring many to the P.O.F.W., this would be amazing. This is what all of us should do at POFW.
Thank you for this day Jesus!

  26. 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

  27. 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

God is searching for faithful warriors that will defend the Gospel and expand the Kingdom. It’s not enough to fight for souls to enter and then years later when the fall have a attitude of “they know better” it iz better to live life with the. By walking with them through that season and orY for them.

  28. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

In every circumstance of life, we should go to the Lord in prayer. When in trouble, we should approach Him with earnest entreaties. In times of rejoicing, we should lift our hearts to Him in praise. He wants to be brought into all the changing moods of our lives.
We should see God as the first great cause of all that comes to us in life. We should not look into what Rutherford called the “ confused rolling of the shell of second causes “ it is defeat to allow ourselves to be victims of circumstances or to wait for our circumstances to change. We should see no hand but His.

  29. “Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Going back to what Jonathan preached tonight, what are you investing in? Is it things if this world that will eventually fade away or are you investing into the His kingdom where your reward will be reaped in heaven for all eternity?

  30. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

Our first response should be to pray. You find yourself afflicted of sick? The word of God says to pray. You are happy, then sing pdlams. God should always be our first.

  31. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

This should be daily routine and not given a second thought, just the norm., Are you struggling. . . Let’s pray! Is everything going well. . . Then let’s give praises to His name., Are you sick. . . Let’s have the elders pray! Simple, but let’s make it more normal and a regular reaction!!

  32. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

  33. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

  34. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

To be able to confess , we first have to recognize that we do have faults…..perhaps may be the hardest or the second hardest thing to do and maybe the first is to ask for forgiveness but again one has to recognize before one can even repent …..true repentance is to turn away from the sin, but if we are so prideful that we can’t see the fault or sin, maybe even blame others for our faults…..it all comes down to that little nasty thing called prude. No one is exempt, we must strive to be more and more humble with every blink, every breath………..

    Hallelujah

  36. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
    ****************
It is so easy to have a pity party when things are going wrong. When we feel attacked, passed over, lost or ignored. If we would only take a moment and pray, rejoice in your blessings, pray for those who hurt you and above all give praise to Him that love you. Singing praises and worship songs will give you joy in your heart, you just can’t help feeling better about anything going on in your life. I have the joy of the Lord down deep in my soul, Where? down deep in my soul. Down deep in my soul to stay. Sing praises.

  37. 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Sometimes we will try to hide the sins that we don’t want god to know about but he will find out anyo

  38. “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We always have something to pray and give thanks for. This scripture doesn’t just say if you have something – it says if any among you. We all know someone who is afflicted or merry. If not, there is always someone on the news that we can pray for. Even just walking down the street we can find someone who fits these categories. So let us pray and praise church!

  39. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

In these verses we see the elements of radically apostolic prayer.
    Elements of Radically Apostolic Prayer:

    1. Agreement: verse 14

    2. Righteousness verse 15

    3. Fervency verse 16

    4. Consistency verse 18

    5. Pray Prophetically verse 17
