Acts 26

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;

Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:

Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

12 Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

19 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

26 For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

30 And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:

31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

32 Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.

Not mad, but I’ll say passion!

  2. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

What we do for the kingdom of God is done because the Lord has helped us to do that work. Humility in our service to the Lord gives glory to the Lord.

  3. Verses 17-18 MSG “‘I’m sending you off to open the eyes of the outsiders so they can see the difference between dark and light, and choose light, see the difference between Satan and God, and choose God. I’m sending you off to present my offer of sins forgiven, and a place in the family, inviting them into the company of those who begin real living by believing in me.’ The choice we make will either make us see clearly the difference, be forgiven and have a place in the family or stay stumbling in the darkness, piling on the sins and having no place with Him. We must keep our eyes clearly focused on Jesus and not all the distractions. Be GREATER, choosing wisely as you begin real living by believing in Him!

  4. “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:28-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It didn’t matter under what circumstances bro. Paul found himself in. His mission and mindset was reaching for souls until his last breath.
The same as with us all, it shouldn’t matter where we find ourselves today, whether it be discouraged, illnesses, or even in bondage. Let us never forget our mission in life is His Kingdom and not mine own.
Friend Day and Western Day is just around the corner. Let us continue to reach for S. O. U. L. S/A. L. M. A. S.
Stay focused. There’s plenty of work to be done. We have been commanded by the Lord Himself.

“And the Lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭14:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  5. Suddenly, Festus shouted, “Paul, you are insane. Too much study has made you crazy!” But Paul replied, “I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. What I am saying is the sober truth.
Acts of the Apostles 26:24‭-‬25 NLT

To the critics and the judges we will look crazy With our radical beliefs. Our lifestyles and worship and worship are not going to make sense to those who just Want to criticize us.. It’s not going to even make sense to those who need it and even desire it, but As we go on from day-to-day with the hope that lies within us those that are longing for more will Be drawn Do it.

  6. 8. Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

Why is it so incredible with us that God should do any miracles? He has done enough among us that we should have no trouble believing he will do more and more…we just need Greater Expectation.

  7. Acts 26: 17-18 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles unto whom now I send thee.
    18) To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they made receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Our Father Which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come ,thy will be done in earth as it heaven .
Give us this day our daily bread, and for forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lean us not into temptation.
But deliver us from Evil, For the Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever.
    Amen.
    Thank you Jesus.

  8. Acts of the Apostles 26:18
to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’

Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus I pray for our nation that their hearts and minds will be open to you and the word of God. With God anything is possible.

  9. Without a purpose we will wander aimlessly through life and will have nothing to show for the time spent on this earth. Lord, help me to keep my focus like the apostle Paul did!!

  10. 14 “And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’”
    ‭‭
Paul was like a stubborn ox that had to be shown who was in charge. The ox had to learn submission to the yoke. Paul had to learn the same lesson. He couldn’t win against GOD’s Will.

  11. I love POFW live Jesus give Jesus 2 Greater! 25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. 31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds. It seems this day and time folks are always worried about someone being mad (meaning in disagreement with an event not crazy) or upset with another…..well that’s life unless you want to be a hermit. So.ponder it think it thru and get over it! Life goes on. Figure out something you learned from it. God is greatly to be praised!

  12. 28 then Agrippa said unto Paul
almost thou persuadest me to be a christian.
    ——
Paul even said that the king knew these things
how much? i don’t know but he did.
Agrippa was informed, he knew, he believed what was spoken in the old days by the prophets…

Agrippa was in the valley of decision on that day..
i believe this day was appointed, i believe Paul spoke about so many different things, and a lot of the kings questions were answered , yet in his heart he rejected some
that day was the day of salvation but he said No!

lord softened the hearts of the souls you created
for you are the only hope, and we may not have tomorrow.
    hallelujah
    in jesus name.
my decisions cause an impact in someone else’s lives
a good one or a bad one. wether intentional or unintentional.

  13. The Living Bible
    vs-24-27
Suddenly Festus shouted Paul, you are insane, your long studying has broken your mind!
But Paul replied, I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. I speak words of sober truth. And king Agrippa knows about these things. I speak frankly for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner! King Agrippa , do you believe the Prophets? But I know you do.

    Festus reacting.

Ever the pragmatic Roman , Festus was amazed at the idea of a resurrection. He believed Paul had become so engrossed in Jewish studies that he had lost his grip on reality. How like modern “suientific” thinkers who cannot imagine a spiritual reality beyond the material universe.

    Agrippa’s reaction
Paul’s direct appeal to Agrippa embarrassed the King. Whatever he might believe in secret , he was surely not going to admit sympathies with beliefs Festus openly thought to be madness.
( Yet we too often make difficult a choice: to go with the skeptical crowd or take an open stand for Jesus)

  14. The Kingdom of Heaven is GREATER
Paul doesn’t have a fancy sermon here, but he simply gives his testimony with so much passion that they think he is crazy. He backs his testimony up with the law and prophets giving revelation that they talked about the “suffering” of the Messiah. The fact is the Jewish leaders (even though most had the Torah memorized) did not even understand what they believed and what they taught for thousands of years. The same is true with most Christians today however. We have the Word and have access to understanding it, but how many people really believe the Word. Most folk don’t really care enough to get revelation because they think it don’t really matter.

  15. Acts 26:20-23 (NLT)
    20) I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their sins and turn to God — and prove they have changed by the good things they do.
    21) Some Jews arrested me in the Temple for preaching this, and they tried to kill me.
    22) But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest. I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen —
    23) That the Messiah would suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, and in this way announce God’s light to Jews and Gentiles alike.

As long as we are doing the Will of God – witnessing and testifying – teaching and sharing His Word with those we come in contact with, God will be with us to help and protect us.

    Thank You JESUS!!

  16. Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” – Psalm 25:4-5

    This is my prayer daiky

  17. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

God will provide protection and help in the places he sends us to teach or witness. Paul stayed true to his calling even when set before the Governors and Kings to make an account of what he believed. God will give us the words to say if we ever are in this situation and so our trust and confidence is always in Him.

  18. 15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
    16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

We should never judge who walks through the doors of our church – they could be a Saul needing the light of Jesus! It doesn’t matter how they look, act, or think. It doesn’t matter if they’re attitude is wrong and their behavior unlearned – they could be a Saul!! It’s time we change our perspective and regain a burden for the lost!!

  19. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Paul witnessed to people showing from the Old Testament how Jesus was to come. That he was to suffer and rise from the dead. That he would show light to the Jews and to the Gentiles. We have the New Testament as well as the Old Testament We can show how prophecy was fulfilled. Nothing is as accurate as, nothing is as truthful as, nothing is as powerful as The Word of God.

  20. 22 But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest. I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen.

Yes, God will guard us when speaking the Word. Don’t have fear, and be a witness to someone, to the new believer, or a lost friend/relative. Have the courage to speak the Word when the opportunity presents itself.

  21. ‘“I used to believe that I ought to do everything I could to oppose the very name of Jesus the Nazarene. Indeed, I did just that in Jerusalem. Authorized by the leading priests, I caused many believers there to be sent to prison. And I cast my vote against them when they were condemned to death. Many times I had them punished in the synagogues to get them to curse Jesus. I was so violently opposed to them that I even chased them down in foreign cities. ‘

    Acts of the Apostles 26:9-11
Hearing the testimony of Paul just reminds me that we can literally come from any kind of background and Jesus will do it. I share often the goodness of Jesus and the many different types of people that roll up in our church and just completely turn their lives around. Your testimony will give someone hope today you better believe it and share it in Jesus name

  22. 21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

We must be the light of the world and witness to the lost. For this is what Jesus died and raised from the dead for to bring salvation.

  23. “And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There are various times throughout our lives we have had to stand and be judged.

By peers, parents, and even God. Yet, It is our greatest opportunity in those times to ensure we GIVE Jesus. That by LIVING Jesus at every chance we get, our judgement will be on good things and not explaining our wrongs.

  24. 11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

Saul was cruel to christians prior to his transformation by his experience with God, and yet he was not punished for all the things he did against God’s people. Yet here we find him bringing a testimony to the people of what God did for him and will do for others, and he is brought before priest and judges to determine his fate.

Sometimes life doesn’t make sense. You do bad, you find favor, you do good and people rise up against you everywhere. Regardless of what “people[ do, we just do what God is calling us to do. When we reach that final judgement day, we must be free from the blood of those around us who we have shared Jesus with.

  25. GREATER
    BURDEN FOR THE LOST

27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

As we invested in ourselves on Tuesday, to LOOK IN. One of the major factors I sought was my personal burden for the lost. Family, friends, neighbors, Fort Worth, North Texas, Texas, America and the World. Am I as concerned and passionate about sharing JESUS with those that dont know HIM or have I become a maintenance minister.

Today I LOOK UP for JESUS to speak and guide me to that place that HE has prepared for me and The POFW.

I am inspired by the Apostle and his effort to share the Gospel of JESUS with Agrippa and I believe we witness some insight into an effective manner of evangelism.

In verse 27 Paul asked Agrippa if he believed the Prophets, then Paul immediately answered for him. I know you believe! In sales this is called the assumtive sale technique.

Look how effective it was, HIS testimony and one question brought an earthly man of authority to the place of a decision. We understand the this is our calling as the church. Bring people knowledge of JESUS and allow them to make the decision. Agrippa did not reject Paul, Agrippa rejected JESUS. But Paul was obedient and even while wrongly persecuted and falsely accused his mission remained.

Share the GOSPEL with the lost:

    TLB
29 And Paul replied, “Would to God that whether my arguments are trivial or strong, both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.”

Family, Friends and Foes need to hear the Gospel of JESUS. Begin with shairng your story. Your testimony is KEY to reaching the lost.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray

  26. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
    ************
Take off the chains that bond you and tell your story of how Jesus came into your life. Give your testimony, speech boldly as Paul did. There will be those who will listen and there will be those who will deny the truth. All you can do is tell them of who Christ is and what He has done for you. Some will be persuaded and some will refuse, all you can do then is pray for them, the rest is up to them and God. If they reject Him it is not you they are rejecting. I don’t have a past like Paul who once was Saul the Christian persecutor, but I do have a past that I’m not proud of, as I believe most everyone has in some way or another. It isn’t about us, it is about Him who sacrificed His life on that cross so that we could be saved from our sins, Just like Paul was.

  27. 2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

He could have became angry in that following the will of God for his life was causing him to be accused and judged. But instead he thought himself happy and used it as an opportunity to spread the gospel of Jesus!

  28. “But Agrippa did answer: “Keep this up much longer and you’ll make a Christian out of me!” Paul, still in chains, said, “That’s what I’m praying for, whether now or later, and not only you but everyone listening today, to become like me—except, of course, for this prison jewelry!””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:28-29‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Oh Lord, That is my prayer! Everyone would become Christians as we testify and share the gospel. Pour your Spirit out on this region of Fort Worth and surrounding counties.

  29. Now I am on trial because of my hope in the fulfillment of God’s promise made to our ancestors.
Acts of the Apostles 26:6 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.26.6.NLT

People can be expecting something for such a long time and hoping and wishing for such a long time that they lose lose that zeal and they lose Believe that it will even come to pass. I believe this is what happened to the Jews in my opinion. They had waited for the promised messiah for such a long time and when he came he didn’t come in the way they thought he would and so they denounced him. I am I am praying for those that are leaning on hope and waiting on the promises of God that Belief and faith would be strengthened while they continue to wait in Jesus name!

  30. “But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Fetus stood their with amazement. And possibly confusion. Saying that Paul was beside himself because of all the education he had of the scripture. But Paul wasn’t crazy he knew the scriptures as they were and knew that they were fulfilled through Jesus Christ. It was just brand new to the rest of the world.

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul said and preached nothing new. The world was given scripture and warming of the Messiah to come. Moses and many others in the Old Testament prophesied about Jesus. But the Jews did not accept Jesus as the messiah because the Jews thought he would be the savior of only Isreal. They thought he would save them from the Roman’s and Their captivity. But Jesus came to save them from sin!

  31. 16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

Jesus said stand upon thy feet.
He said you stand on your own, on your own ministry and I’ll make you a witness to this world.
God is looking for people who will stand for themselves on his word and witness to this world. He is ready to pour out his spirit but waiting on willing people to go.

  32. “And King Agrippa knows about these things. I speak boldly, for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner!”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭26:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus didn’t use His time on earth hidden in a corner. He was honest, open, and transparent (HOT). Our walk with Him should be the same. He’s an all knowing, all-seeing God so we need to be HOT with Jesus!

  33. “We all fell down, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is useless for you to fight against my will.’”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭26:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Nothing ever comes out of us fighting what god wants us to do. No matter how hard we push against the voice and will of god we will always find ourselves back at square one. We must learn to stop wrestling with that flesh and truly submit to god regardless of what the circumstances may be. Whatever your will is lord in my life lord let it be done!

  34. ““And so, King Agrippa, I obeyed that vision from heaven. I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭26:19-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Paul was speaking the word and being bold even when he was falsely accused, Paul could’ve denied any part in speaking the word of God but he was bold and proud of the word and spoke it even if he could’ve went to jail or died.

  35. 9 I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

When we say things against our fellow Christians, we speak contrary to the name of Jesus..

Others are watching, wanting to see how much do we really believe what we say….

  36. Acts 26:28,29 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

I pray all We have witnessed to friends and family and our community will be saved and free of their spiritual chains as we share the gospel with them.

Keep sharing the gospel, your testimony.

  37. 1 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

When able to speak Paul stayed positive. He also answered For himself. Sometimes we just have to stay positive and be willing to not allow accusations to answer for us but allow our actions and words to build our reputation when others are trying to tear it down.

  38. Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

It is God that gives you the help and equips you to be a witness. So if it is him that helps all God needs then it’s a willing vessel.

  39. 2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

We control how we feel by the things we think and say

  40. 2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

It’s a choice!!! It is easy to be upset and offended but even that is a choice!!! It is actually harder to be mad than it is to be happy….

  41. 8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

God can do anything! We should never doubt Him!
