Colossians 3

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

  1. 25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

    There is no partiality with God. He is the master of all and the distinctions that prevail among men mean nothing to Him. If slaves rob their master ( as Onesimus apparently did ) they will have to give an account to the Lord.

  2. Colossians 3:13
    Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

    Forgive and you will be forgiven.

    Matthew 18:21-22
    [21]Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”
    [22]“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

  3. 6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
    7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

    We all have been born in sin, yet when we are save we have been saved from the wrath of God.

    25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

    The Lord does not stay His hand from disciplining He children, therefore being saved also requires that we do good works, which shows our faith.

  4. Verses 5-8 MSG “And that means killing off everything connected with that way of death: sexual promiscuity, impurity, lust, doing whatever you feel like whenever you feel like it, and grabbing whatever attracts your fancy. That’s a life shaped by things and feelings instead of by God. It’s because of this kind of thing that God is about to explode in anger. It wasn’t long ago that you were doing all that stuff and not knowing any better. But you know better now, so make sure it’s all gone for good: bad temper, irritability, meanness, profanity, dirty talk.” We heard a message last night asking for us to heed the warnings as there will be a high cost for repeating bad decisions. You can be GREATER in Christ. I encourage you to read the Proverb for today!

  5. 16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

    While we sing our songs to the Lord in praise and worship, they are also teaching and admonishing those around us, as well.
    What are we teaching them? To sing unto the Lord and worship Him, for He is worthy!

    Sing unto the Lord a new song
    Sing unto the Lord all the earth

    For God is great
    And greatly to be praised!

  6. As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Above all, be loving. This ties everything together perfectly. Also, let Christ’s peace control you. God has called you into this peace by bringing you into one body. Be thankful.
    Colossians 3:12-15

    I love how everything is not left to assumptions and guess work. God tells us what kind of posture and heart condition we should keep as “holy people”. And Paul communicates that to the Church in Colosse. We need kindness, mercy, patience…so we should give it as well. If our King can show these to us, surely we can show these same to others.

  7. The Living Bible
    vs: 1-3
    Since you become alive again,so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead now set your sights on the rich treasures and joys of heaven where he sits beside God in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts, don’t spend your time worrying about things down here. You should have as little desire for the world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ Jesus.

    vs-1:Right hand
    This is the traditional symbol of royal power. In being raised with Christ we have been given vast power for godly living.
    vs-2: Things above
    A heavenly orientation is the believers ultimate concern in his or her relationship with Christ. As Paul will soon go to show, our focus on things above is to make a significant difference on our life below.
    vs-3: You died
    Since we died and were raised with Christ, anything foreign to Jesus should be foreign to us.

    vs: 25
    And you don’t do your best for him, he will pay you in a way that you want like- for he has no special favorites who can get away with shirking.

    As part of P.O.F.W. we should always do are best for God and our Pastor. If you’re not doing everything you can and lining up with Pastors teaching God has no special favorites . At times you will fill like your on the out-side looking in. Most likely the 👿 the
    Devi will put thoughts in your head that this is not for you I have nothing in common we these people. At times God’s Spirit will come on you and you want know what God’s trying to do. It’s very aweful sitting in a service in a (back-sild state). Your answer is praying and studying getting involved with out-reach work around the church stay committed with pastor. E.C.T.

  8. Colossians 3: 13-14
    Forbearing, one another,and forgiving one another,if any man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
    14) All above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
    God want forgive us, if we don’t forgive them.
    Don’t hold a grudge, or be bitter to each other.
    Make it right with each other.
    Thank you Jesus for your Love and Your forgiveness.

  9. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
    Colossians 3:12

    It’s not enough that we have our walk with God but it’s that he Has become a part of us so much that we take on his attributes to attributes as our own.. We live in a very cruel world who criticizes and turns on people people at the drop of a hat And we have to continue to remain tender hearted and merciful through it all. It is obviously a challenge at times with how cruel people can be but but it is A part of our walk with God that we grow so close to him his nature becomes ours

  10. Colossians 3:16,17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

    He is worthy of all our praise🙌🏼 Lift his holy name! Encourage each other.

    Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

    I Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.

  11. Colossians 3:10 (KJV)
    “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:”

    Colossians 3:10 (NLT)
    “Put on the new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”

    “Put On The New Man – Put On The New Nature” and be renewed in knowledge – learn to know your Creator.
    When we are being renewed, we are going through a process that will reshape and transform us, so that we can Know our Creator better, and it that will cause us to be MORE and MORE like Him.
    Bro. Azzolini told us last night, “Many are getting Stuck In Transformation.”
    Don’t get Stuck in the Renewal, Reshaping, Transforming process, BUT get to know JESUS better and become more like Him. Let Him lead you from Glory to Glory!!

    Thank You JESUS!

  12. The Kingdom of God is GREATER
    1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

    Amen, this scripture is so true and yet very difficult at the same time. The concept is still true regardless of what generation we’re from though. We must always focus on his will rather than our will.

  13. 14 NLT “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”
    ‭‭
    Followers of JESUS must love one another. Not just who are easy to love or liked the most. Show love to everyone.

  14. 1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

    2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

    3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

    4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

    Amen!
    Hallelujah!
    Thank You Jesus!

  15. Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:1-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    The things that I need to get rid of in the flesh must be put to death and removed from my life.

  16. I love POFW live Jesus give Jesus 2 Greater! 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

    9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

    10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

    Sometimes people say …… Oops I’m sorry lord it slipped and continue on their way but it happens alot. Then few days later something larger happens and same results. In my opinion prayer has not been applied or distancing yourself from folks who continue to do these things. Putting on the whole armor of God helps and is essential for these situations. Thank you Jesus for your love and patience.

  17. 23 and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily
    as to the Lord, and not unto men.

    hallelujah in Jesus name.amen( let it be so)
    yes Lord!

  18. GREATER
    LIFE

    23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
    24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
    25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

    There is danger in half hearted, semi committed service to the Lord JESUS. There are 2 dangers identified here.

    1. Serving the Lord half way
    2. Serving men instead of the Lord.

    I believe all serving should be heartily or whole hearted (with everything we have).

    The danger in serving man is that we will expect a reward from them that they cannot give. The danger in serving the Lord half hearted is that we will not fully understand that our reward is eternity with HIM.

    The understanding that JESUS will reward our good with inheritance and our bad with judgement. NOBODY escapes this absolute.

    I choose today to:

    Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

    Have a BLESSED Day and remember to THANK your friends to attending church with you on Sunday.

  19. 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
    13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

    With his Spirit we learn to forgive and put on his character as evidenced by kindness, humbleness, meekness and long-suffering. It is a daily exercise until it becomes natural habits.

  20. Continuo con la obediencia, es parte del afecto hacia los demas si Cristo es bueno para perdonar, porque nosotros guardamos rencor y cuenta en eso. El nos enseñar en closeness como manejar nuestra vida.

  21. 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

    Details of how we can grow in unity as a church body. Practice mercy, forgiveness, humbleness, love, thankfulness, and wisdom. It’s okay to do all these things. It’s okay to step out of your comfort zone to make new friends. It’s okay to help teach and grow with your friends. Take no offense but let God’s glory reign and His love abound.

  22. ‘Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. ‘

    Colossians 3:13-14
    If you have unforgiveness in your heart you need to let it go and give it to Jesus. If you have bitterness in your heart do the same thing. Here’s how you know, go through a list of names and if you make a face when you read that persons name then you need to ask God to help you with letting whatever it is go. We cant afford to hold onto things in this hour we got to walk with the love of Christ in us. Don’t be sitting at the table Jesus flipped. Be the Jesus that flips the table on the devil.

  23. 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

    24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

    What a mindset – everything I do is unto the Lord, regardless of who it is for. This attitude will change how we feel about things we don’t necessarily enjoy doing for others. Let it be service unto the Lord instead of the person.

  24. on out of your mouth.

    9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
    10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
    11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

    Lying is the sin and those that lie will not inherit the kingdom of God that is the word of God.

  25. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

    6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

    7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

    8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

    Paul tells the Colossians to mortify the deeds of the flesh. Sin will send us to hell, so we must kill it, not just wound it. Also, we must put off the works of the flesh. We do this by bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Replace evil with good.

  26. 4And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

    Let your light shine wherever you go. Like Bro Azzolini mentioned, you’ll have glory to glory! Don’t allow darkness to hover over you, but always keep the light on.

  27. 20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

    21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
    ****************
    Children should obey their parents and respect them. YES, but, oh how this world has changed, some (a lot more now) parents aren’t going to church, they curse and drink, watch XX-rated shows ( or do worse). Some are abusive. Slapping in anger instead of discipling and training. Fathers and mothers should not provoke their children to anger and beat them down with demeaning words. How is a child to respect his father who is drunk and beats him or a mother that neglects them for her own pleasures. Some are “good” people who are just in the daily world of living and unaware or uncaring of the child’s spiritual needs. Some child may have very too strict parents while another may be spoiled to having his own way and have no respect for them or others . V 20 Said obey your parents in all things, for this is pleasing unto the Lord. This is a very hard one to understand how to do when all of these thing are occurring, what is a child to do if they don’t know Jesus’s love or the love of their parents. We heard in the sermon yesterday that God will give you an escape and I believe that He uses the Christians to help out in different situations to help out those in need. We need to keep our eyes open , listen to the words of a child, heed to God’s warnings. Act on suspicious behavior.
    We have a wonderful bus ministry that is first in line to interaction with children, we have a great children’s ministry whom also have time to spend with these kids. It take us all to also be aware and show these kids that not only we love them but that the Father, Jesus loves them. We need to do our part in helping these children be loved and safe not just at church but anywhere we see a child. Thank you Jesus.

  28. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

    We are all one…under his name! We cannot let our flesh overtake us for we all belong to Him!! Our body is not our own by we are all His people!! I pray this day that we are all committing any and everything we have to Him and let God have His way in our lives!!

  29. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

    This is talking about how he worship god bc we are thankful for what am he has done for us

  30. Colossians 3

    If we follow these words, our heart will be the Lords. Follow the teachings and with the Holy Spirit we will be with God.
    Thank you Jesus for this day.

  31. 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

    People are going to constantly hurt us, it’s life, but it’s up to us to forgive them and move on, just as God does for us.

  32. Pro 19:5  A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape

    I reckon it’s wise to tell the truth since liers will never escape. You can run but not hide

  33. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

    There was a hymn we used to sing that says Turn your eyes upon Jesus and look full, in his wonderful face, and the things of this world will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. Lord let us turn completely to you, not looking back to the things of this world.
    Glory to Glory!

  34. 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
    24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
    25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

    I know sometimes it can be hard to do everything. . . Heartily. It is hard especially when there are those around you that do not do things whole heartily. But always know that what we do is not to be recognized or to be as good as someone else, but it is service unto the Lord. What we do for His kingdom and in our every day lives is for Him. Our inheritance is in Him and not others, for there is none like Him.

  35. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

    Love is what perfects the man. Love does no man harm. The Bible tells me that God is Love. And thus out of love we can do all things.

  36. 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

    Forgiveness is key! We all know how hard it is to forgive when a situation is fresh over time maybe. Yet when things just went down it is virtually impossible for some to forgive that soon. Yet God is calling us to a place of spiritual maturity that the result is forgiveness fast and often.

    You see God has forgiven me more times than I care to admit but He has and it is my responsibility to share in HIs nature of Forgiveness.

  37. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

    Let God guide you

  38. “In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    It doesn’t matter your passed, your mistakes or where you come from… we are all children of God we each have a purpose in the kingdom of God. Let us treat eachother with love and respect.

  39. “where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    The scriptures shows us here that Our Lord and Savior has called us all into His Kingdom. We are not like this world wants us to think, but we have put on Christ Jesus.

    “for there is no respect of persons with God.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  40. “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    When we got baptized in his name we became a new creature. Those things we used to do we no longer do anymore. Thank god for his saving graces and his mercy. Thank god for the Holy Ghost which is able to be a guide in this lifetime. Even though things get tough I’m thankful for his spirit living in me being able to guide me. I am no longer lost but I am found thanks be unto his name.
