Psalm Chapter 23

Pray Today

Acts 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Fort Worth, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

  1. ‭Psalms 23:4, 6 NLT‬
[4] Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
[6] Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

When seasons of walking through valleys come God will never abandon you. He is by your side. Don’t lose hope. He will see you through it to the other side. God’s word, love and goodness is never failing. Hallelujah. Pursue after God not the things of this world. There is nothing that compares to being in the house of the Lord.

  2. Verse 6 VOICE “Certainly Your faithful protection and loving provision will pursue me where I go, always, everywhere. i will always be with the Eternal, in Your house forever.” Boldly declaring who you serve in Jesus name ReVIVES the soul!

  3. 1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

The Lord is not just A shepherd or THE shepherd, He is MY Shepherd. He meets MY needs, He fights MY enemies, He restores MY soul. And if you will follow Him and allow Him to lead you, He will be your shepherd as well.

  4. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Our soul/mind needs restoration on a daily basis, just as we take up our cross and bare one another’s burdens. It is Jesus that we follow to attain righteousness.

  5. Psalm 24 : 3 [ KJV] He restoreth my soul he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake.

4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil, for thou are with me,thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

This beautiful psalm is one of the most loved chapters in the entire Bible. Jesus is the Good Shepard who gives his life for his sheep,he cares for them, comforts, keep them, and goes with them through the valley of the shadow of death. The Lord provides for us and we shall not want.

I shall not want for redemption because I have been redeemed through his blood.

The Power of the Holy Ghost!

  6. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

We are living in a time where there are distractions and a plethora of energy draining things going on all the same time. It is so important and vital to our walk with God that way allow him to restore us and help us otherwise we can easily fall into one of those distractions and traps. The more we find our rest and peace in the Lord the less we will be distracted and waste our time

  7. 1 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.

When the Lord is your shepherd He will take care of you in every situation good or bad. He will lead you, protect you, provide for you, be your fortress and strength. HE will supply your needs.

  8. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23‬:‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    Amen!!!!

  9. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

I shall not lack vitality because He restores my soul. I shall not lack moral direction because He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. If the Lord is our Shepherd, we need not worry!

Today is going to be a little different. In Psalms 23:2 we have a perfect example of young preacher mishaps when trying to preach and relate Hebrew/Greek translation definitions to prove a point.

The Bible was translated from Hebrew in the Old Testament and Greek from the New Testament. Lots of young preachers like to go into the Strongs Concordance and find a word and look at the defination to try to prove a point. This is all fine and dandy until they find a word they like thats totally out of context of what the scripture is trying to say. For example in our scripture today in Psalms 23:2.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

When you look up the word “waters” in the Hebrew, it’s also the word translated urine. But be aware this is not the context of the scripture. The context of the scripture is fields of grass and rivers of water. So, God forbid, there could be someone trying to preach this scripture in a way that was never intended especially if you read the whole definition. It just simply means in this scripture the sheep are in the grass near the water, but in another scripture in another book of the bible the same Hebrew word was used in a totally different context about a sheep needing to go potty…

In the English language, we too have different words that can be used in different contexts. For example, a person could say, “Man, that’s cool”. Imagine a person from another country translating that from Webster’s Dictionary into meaning it’s cold outside in Texas in June.

Be careful listening to these smart folks on YouTube. They pick and choose, mix and match, and distort the Word of God through the above mentioned way of taking words out of context.

    MY SHEPHERD

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

As I meditate on this verse today, the words MY SHEPHERD came clearly to me from the LORD. The more I focused on these 2 words MY SHEPHERD the more I realized the depth of this simple Psalm.

The 23rd psalm was the only verse/chapter I learned as a child. I have been able to quote it for as long as I can remember. Even while I lived in sin, I could remember the Psalm 23.

BUT today I understand the dept of MY SHEPHERD.

MY – means ownership, association with, connection to, trust in, reliance on.

SHEPHERD – guide, provider, protector, instructor, corrector, comforter.

H7462 – rāʿâ – to pasture, tend, graze, feed, to tend, pasture, to shepherd, of ruler, teacher, of people as flock, shepherd, herdsman, to feed, graze

(Hiphil) shepherd, to associate with, be a friend of (meaning probable) (Hithpael) to be companions (Piel) to be a special friend.

MY SHEPHERD is MY LORD and MY LORD is MY SHEPHERD. Whatever I make MY LORD, I also make MY SHEPHERD, whatever I make MY SHEPHERD, I also make MY LORD.

When we make JESUS to be MY LORD and MY SHEPHERD then I shall NOT want. The question I must ask myself everyday is:

WHO is MY SHEPHERD today because HE (IT) will also be MY LORD today. I want to be intentional everyday to make JESUS my LORD and not my life, my will, my desires, my pleasure, my friends, my family, my job, my position, my money or any other thing made by JESUS to be MY SHEPHERD.

MY LORD JESUS is MY SHEPHERD and I shall NOT want.

  12. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

God covers and protects us, goes before us and also blesses and comforts us. Everything we need we can find in him.

  13. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

This is my answer to everyday life – He restoreth my soul. If we don’t take time to replenish and nourish our soul, it will die. Just like a newborn babe, we must feed and take care of it in order to grow in Him. We will be overcome by the burdens and cares of life if we don’t take time to have Him restore our soul with His peace, His love, His strength, His wisdom, His guidance, His joy and His Spirit.

  14. Psalm 23:1,3 MSG.

God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing.
You have bedded me down in lush meadows you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction.

    Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

    Psalm 31:3
For You are my rock and my fortress; lead me and guide me for the sake of Your name.

  15. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want

    ———-

[🙏🏼]that I may always find myself with my Shepherd

[🙏🏼] … and if I find myself wandering

    ( because it happens)

[🙏🏼] That I may know with full confidence

that concerning him, for sure he will be looking for me.

    for my Shepherd once said

” I will never leave you nor forsake you”

don’t know why but ever since I woke up I have had these three words in my mind :

    Redemption is near.

hallelujah, Blessed be the name of the Lord

  16. Psalms 23:1 (KJV), “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Thank You JESUS that YOU Are MY SHEPHERD. JESUS, YOU are my Provider, my Protector, my Guide, my Helper, my Healer, my Peace, my Joy, etc… etc… etc…

Thank You JESUS because YOU are MY SHEPHERD I shall not want/or lack anything because it’s all found in YOU!

  17. Psalms 23

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou are with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Jesus is my strength and shield. He watches over me and protects me from known and unknown dangers. The light of His presence shines over me. Blessed be my Lord Jesus.

Thank you, Jesus for this day.

  18. God as Shepherd

Sheep cannot survive alone in the wild, but must always be in the company of a shepeherd. The Middle Eastern shepherd loved his sheep, gave each one a name, and cared for each one tenderly. Many a shepherd interposed himself between Wild beasts and his sheep, and at night the shepherd lay down and slept in the single doorway to his sheepfold. Any enemy would have to pass him attack his flock.

How marvelous then for us whom Scripture sees as sheep that God presents Himself as our shepherd. He leads us, protects us, and because He is always with us, we fear no evil.

  19. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

    🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑🐏

The Lord will provide all I need; it is when I want more than I need that I get into trouble. When I rely on the Shepherd to lead me in my spending, my actions, my desires, when I follow with obedience instead of defiance that my life goes smoother.

  20. 1The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.

With God, we have all the rest, peace and joy. Without God, chaos, unhappiness and worries. Rely on God for what one wants, ask in Jesus name, and it will be given.

  21. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

Many times we focus on the “I shall not want” as we bring out petitions before him. And in fact we are instructed in the word of God to make our requests know unto God. However, we also have to allow him to be our shepherd. We see it right there in the second verse. He let’s and makes us… whatever he sees for for us to do or be.

  22. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Often we forget that it’s for His name’s sake, and not the sake of our own necks…
