2 Chronicles 3

1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.

And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains.

And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.

He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.

And he made the most holy house, the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

10 And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.

11 And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.

12 And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.

13 The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.

14 And he made the vail of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims thereon.

15 Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.

16 And he made chains, as in the oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.

17 And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

  1. v1 Then Soloman began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah,
Where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Proverbs 24:3-4. Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

GOD deserves our first our very best.

  2. In this scripture, it is awesome to see how a beautiful place was constructed for the Lord to dwell, but now the Lord wants to dwell in our hearts not in buildings. We are his temple now, but that doesn’t mean he’s not in his Church.

    “Be Blessed”…iwork…igive…ipray…ireap…..

  3. Jakin and Boaz

Solomon orders 2 large ornate pillars to be erected in front of the temple. These pillars are made of bronze and measure appoximately 27ft high and 18ft around (1Ki 7:15). These puppies are massive. Some believe that these pillars were freestanding, others believe it supported the roof that formed a covered portico. The fact that Solomon designated names for these pillars seems to indicare to me that they served a symbolic significance to Jewish people. One pillar is names Jakin, meaning ‘he establishes’ and the other Boaz, which means ‘in him is strength’. Throughout Scripture, pillars seem to represent real or sybolic strength or support. (Jdg 16:26; Gal 2:9). In the last book of the Bible, John writes a message to the chruch in Philedelphia, promising that believers who remain loyal and strong despite dificulties on earth will be called pillars in the temple of God in the city where Jesus reigns as King forever! (Rev 3:12) It is so important that we not stray away from the Lord and not turn, one way or the other.God has given us a choice to stand with him as pillars or fall with the enemy. Lot’s wife looked back to Sodom after being warned not to by an angel and was turned to a ‘pillar’ or salt. Therefore their is a good pillar and a bad one, I so passionately long to be a pillar in the temple of the Lord. Therefore I pray to the Lord for the region of Fort Worth, to create the desire to become a pillar unto the Lord.

*A word of encouragment (from Jesus) to the pillars:

28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

  4. v14 And he made the vail of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought Cheri ins thereon.

GOD holds nothing back to Himself but gives everything to you ( us )
Heb.10:19 Come boldly to the throne of GOD through His Precious Blood
The vail the covering of the Glory Of GOD.
    It’s been said:
Blue— Glories of heaven the Spirit the Mighty GOD.
Scarlet ( crimson )– earth infleshment of HIS BLOOD,humiliation , His death, His crucifixion , and His Blood shed.
    PURPLE— Royalty GOD IN CHRIST.

Isaiah 9:6. For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called Wonderful , Counsellor , The Mighty GOD, The Everlasting Father, The Prince Of Peace.

Keep in mind child and Son a mixture of the Spirit and heaven. The Everlasting Father.
Isaiah the prophet had it right……….
“. I can see the mixture of blue the Spirit
Scarlet the Blood, The flesh of earth and
Purple see the LORD OF LORDS AND THE KING OF KINGS.
    iPray
    iSee
    iHumble and submit
    iRepent
iGive GOD my very best. I’m thankful for HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD!!!

  5. As everything else God puts order, gives measurements, exactly what He desires. 1 Cor 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

Proverbs 24:3-4. Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

ESTAB’LISH, v.t. L. stabilio; Heb. to set, fix, establish.

    1. To set and fix firmly or unalterably; to settle permanently.

I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant. Gen.17.

    2. To found permanently; to erect and fix or settle; as, to establish a colony or an empire.

    3. To enact or decree by authority and for permanence; to ordain; to appoint; as, to establish laws, regulations, institutions, rules, ordinances, &c.

    4. To settle or fix; to confirm; as, to establish a person, society or corporation, in possessions or privileges.

    5. To make firm; to confirm; to ratify what has been previously set or made.

Do we then make void the law through faith?

God forbid; yea, we establish the law. Rom.3.

    6. To settle or fix what is wavering, doubtful or weak; to confirm.

To stand without doubt with faith. Nothing this world can do should shake our faith, we should stand on His Word without wavering. For He abides in us and Greater is He that is in me that He that is in the world. Is your temple full of precious gems, gold, clean & presentable in the eyes of God. If not it is time to clean house.

  6. ILove to eat breakfast with Jesus

    BE A PILLAR
17 And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. (Galatians 2:9 KJV)

  7. This chapter illustrates expense. There was no expense spared with the building of the house of the Lord, and as was read earlier all gave willingly. One should unsparingly and willingly give if one wants the Lord to do likewise. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  8. Wow! Cheribums-angelic beings, cubits-size of a forearm, what a temple! How beautiful!
How precise every detail was. There is alot of time anf treasure that goes toeards building a temple of God. Not only the church, but our bodies are temple of God’s too. Do I (we) take the time and treasure of building the temple , by reading God’s word everyday? Going to church listening to the peiple that God puts in our life to encourage to do what’s right? Do we I pray enough to put time and treasure in the “temple(body)?” Do ] , we respect the church and listen?, Do I build by tithing towards the building and putting enough time treasure and being an example of God wherever I go?
Well-I hope Ido enouph building towards the “temple(God’s church)” to get a little dirt on me to help. Well this message wad for me in this scripture. It makes me “think about Jesus’ ” home on earth as well as in heaven. Building the Kingdom what a beautiful thing to be apart of the church.
    ilove church
    ilove people
    ilove to give
    ilove to pray
    ilove to build

  9. MSG – 15-17 He made two huge free-standing pillars, each fifty-two feet tall, their capitals extending another seven and a half feet. The top of each pillar was set off with an elaborate filigree of chains, like necklaces, from which hung a hundred pomegranates. He placed the pillars in front of The Temple, one on the right, and the other on the left. The right pillar he named Jakin (Security) and the left pillar he named Boaz (Stability).

The house that Solomon built for the Lord was replica of the Tabernacle designed by God in the wilderness as Moses led the people. He placed two pillars in the front which he gave significant names.

Living our lives based around the Tabernacle Plan: entering His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise, washing everyday at the laver, energizing the fire of the holy ghost within us at the candlestick, offering ourselves as a living sacrifice unto the Lord on the altar, and then entering the Holy of Holies for sweet communion with the Lord brings security and stability to our lives.

  10. THE PILLARS OF THE TEMPLE

17 And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

Every house of GOD must have pillars. The pillars before the temple were given names of significance, to identify what the temple represented.

    Consider:

Pillar – a column supporting the weight of a building,” is used (a) metaphorically, of those who bear responsibility in the churches, as of the elders in the church at Jerusalem, Gal. 2:9; of a local church as to its responsibility, in a collective capacity, to maintain the doctrines of the faith by teaching and practice, 1 Tim. 3:15; the connection in the Eng. versions seems preferable; (b) figuratively in Rev. 3:12, indicating a firm and permanent position in the spiritual, heavenly and eternal Temple of God; Vines Dictionary

Jachin – “He will establish” or “Security” was on the right, which is a type of protection or on the side of authority. Meaning, government, order and authority are a pillar to the church.

Boaz – “Strength or stability” was on the left, which is a type of consistency and stability. Meaning, faithfulness, righteousness and attitude are a pillar to the church.

These 2 pillars should be evident even at the individuals approach to the church. God help The Pentecostals of Fort Worth to establish and raise up these pillars before the GOD of glory and the people of Fort Worth.

  11. I love to eat lunch with the ONE who created me to eat.

    BE A PILLAR

17 And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

    THE OVERCOMERS ARE THE PILLARS.

The testimony of those who have gone through tests and trials are pillars in church.

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. (Revelation 3:12 KJV)

  12. 10-13 He made two sculptures of cherubim, gigantic angel-like figures, for the Holy of Holies, both veneered with gold. The combined wingspread of the side-by-side cherubim (each wing measuring seven and a half feet) stretched from wall to wall, thirty feet. They stood erect facing the main hall.
I can only Imagine to come face to face!

  13. Verse 17 MSG reads “He placed the pillars in front of The Temple, one on the right, and the other on the left. The right pillar he named Jakin (Security) and the left pillar he named Boaz (Stability).”

Exodus 13:21-22 MSG “God went ahead of them in a Pillar of Cloud during the day to guide them on the way, and at night in a Pillar of Fire to give them light; thus they could travel both day and night. The Pillar of Cloud by day and the Pillar of Fire by night never left the people.”

1 Timothy 3:15 NLT “so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.”

  14. This was a beautiful temple, and yet all the things of the earth will pass away. This is why we must prepare ourselves to be the Temple of God to dwell in

  15. 1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

This chapter gives us a blueprint of sorts of the tabernacle that solomon built for God. We can see he put great detail and care into the building of God’s house. In our lives we should put great care and detail into the house or the temple of God that we are building and make sure that we are being built the way God wants us to be.

  16. Wow can you imagine the house that was built. In my mind it is so beautiful. There was no expense too big or too small to build this house. That is why there is no expense too big or too small for POFW in winning souls for Jesus. That is why we give back to the community thru school supplie giveaway, free store giveaway….The community is looking for us when they are down and out. Let God guide your heart and be still and listen for the small still voice.

  17. As I read the description of the building of the temple I am in such awe of the magesty and beauty it must have been. I imagine it was the most spectacular building in its time. Now we are the temple that God dwells in

1 Corinthians 6:19 what? Know ye Mott that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own?

How much more as children of God does He want us to shine for Him? The old temple was made of gold and other precious metals and materials. When we look at what we go through we can see that God is preparing this fleshly body to be a glorious temple as well.

1 peter 1:7 that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Zechariah 13:9 and I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, it is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

God puts us through the fire so that we can be prepared for Him just as the temple Solomon built was. Lord help me to see the refining process for what it is, I want to shine for you and I want this temple to be made worthy for you to dwell in.

  18. i thank God for His word, i pray everyday that He help me to overcome what i may face. even though every pillar is not the same size they all are able to represent GOD if they are of God. to me the pillar represents stability, strong. it made me look at myself and question my walk and thank God that i am strong in my faith and my stand for God is stable. i cant nor do i want to do anything without God. He wants our very best

  19. Silver and gold have I none .But such as I have give I thee. In the name Of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk!!

  20. 2 And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

It’s amazing to think it took over four years of being king before Solomon got to start building the temple, even with all his father did to help prepare. A proper foundation must be laid before something can be built that will last. We must allow ourselves to walk through God’s process in His time and order. Nothing can replace doing God’s will, His way with His blessing.

  21. 2 Samuel 24:15

16 But when the angel reached out over Jerusalem to destroy it, GOD felt the pain of the terror and told the angel who was spreading death among the people, “Enough’s enough! Pull back!”
The angel of GOD had just reached the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. David looked up and saw the angel hovering between earth and sky, sword drawn and about to strike Jerusalem. David and the elders bowed in prayer and covered themselves with rough burlap.

This judgement took place after David numbered the people and sinned before God. The punishment was that a plague would destroy people.

David left this judgement in the hands of the merciful Lord.

Years later, David’s son Solomon, begins construction on the temple. This is the place of communion and fellowship. Here God will speak with man about man on the threshing floor.

It is very possible that this same place was where Abraham offered Isaac unto God. Abraham told his son “God will provide himself a sacrifice.”

There is further evidence that suggests that calvary happened on a section of Mount Moriah.

The righteousness of God, and the mercy of God met in this place.

Perhaps God stayed the hand of the angel because he looked through time and saw the lamb.

  22. Vs. 17, ” And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left hand; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.”

Jachin means ” He shall establish”
Boaz means “In it is strength”

1 Peter 5:10 says, ” But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

After we have gone through trials and tests and have suffered a while, we become perfected, established, strengthened, and settle in Jesus Christ. We become pillars in the church.

  23. The Temple was a beautiful place. Solomon ensured that it was constructed according to the plan given unto him.

Israel would turn to this place because they knew God would meet them there. We have a great opportunity to do a great work for God; let us build according to the plan God has given us.

The city is looking for a place to meet the Lord in the power of the Holy Ghost.

  24. 1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

There is something about going back to the place of past miracles that builds faith and makes room for more, larger miracles to take place…

  25. As a builder I look at how overwhelming the house must of been. All the gold on the outside of it must of reflected the sun for miles.

Our church should also reflect the SON.

Jesus let me be a reflection of you that could be recognized fr great distances and intrigue this city to come to the house where all the light is coming from.

  26. 1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

David laid down the fountain for generations to generations to build a lasting relationship with God. I’m very thankful for my grandmother’s foundation she worked so hard for. She was a praiser and worshiper, prayer warrior every service even if she was all by herself.

    • Sorry had some technical difficulties

My grandmother was also a bible study teacher and soul winner. She put the kingdom first and loved the Lord with all her heart. Although Aug 1 marked 3 years of her being absent from the body and being present with the Lord, her example has laid a foundation for her family. I’m thankful and honored to be a 3rd generation apostolic believer.

      2 Tim 1:5-7
5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

  27. Solomon had a plan of how he wanted to build the house of God. It took him 4 yrs to start building the temple. He had alot of time to get prepared. He didn’t just start building he wanted to build the perfect temple, Lord you are worthy.

  28. Nothing but the Best for God, the details, the gold, the cherubims, the pomegranates, the pillars, the names, etc. All was given unto the Lord. Nothing was held back when it came to building. And I believe it is the same for any person today. The Lord desires nothing less of us.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV)

  29. The Temple is a place both sacred and beautiful. It’s beauty was no doubt an awesome sight to behold, but without the presence of our holy God to fill it-it was empty shell. Every intricate detail had it’s meaning and it’s design was all from God. The pillars were it’s strength and to hold the enormous weight of all the metals. It’s foundation had to be rock solid as well.

Today’s House of God is filled with precious jewels-souls. We have such beauty in our midst-the beauty of holiness. Every thing placed in this House has it’s place and purpose. We are fitly joined together to make one body to perpetuate the Kingdom of God. Our pillars are tried and true and living epistles to be read of all who enter in. Let your time, talent & treasure fill His House.

  30. I feel that this is a great chapter in what we as a church are trying to do in building a new church in his name to reach the regian of Ft Worth we know he will able us to do this in his name
