Ezra 1

1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.

And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.

Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;

Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,

10 Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.

11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

  1. Dont bring people into (or what you are doing) the sins you (me) are doing. Nabecanezzer brought people to the gods that He worshipped.(bad idea).

I pray for me to be an example of Jesus Christ always. I may be a good example or not but, but People will be subjrct to thier own sins against God.

    I

  2. I love the word of God for it is simple and to the point.

2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

His house is in PRAISE. He dwells in Praise!!!!!

    7 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;

Everything that Babylon (the world) has taken from God they will have to give back. For at the END GOD WINS!!!! So walk around knowing that He gave us the Victory and Our Heavenly Daddy Wins it ALL. Don’t worry about what was lost for it ALL will be returned.

  3. ILove to wake up with Jesus on my mind.

The rebuilding of the broken city

Jerusalem had been destroyed by king Nebuchadnezzar. Jeremiah the prophet had prophesied this would happen because Israel had refused to keep the sabbath and had done evil in the sight of God.

70 years pass by and God starts to stir up the heart of the king of Persia. All the sudden, according to the promise and prophecy of the word, the city is to be rebuilt.

It’s like pastor says, if you don’t pay your tithes, God will take His anyways. Also, according to these scriptures, if you don’t observe the sabbath, God will see that the land gets her rest…one way or the other.

  4. Cyrus seems to know who set him up to be king. He also listens to God that he should build a house in Jerusalem. Too bad the children of God did not do the same.

  5. 4 And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

    1 Corinthians 12:27-31
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Everyone in the body has a purpose. Cyrus told those who could not build to give. We must do as God has commanded us.

We can’t all be an eye, or an ear. But when one person gives, another sows, another reaps, another builds, another teaches, and on, and on; then we do a complete work for God.

God has challenged us to step up to the opportunity before us. The enemy would like to discourage us, and get us thinking about the negatives of two services on Sunday morning.

However, God has a plan, and through us unifying together, holding up Pastor’s hands, and everyone doing thier small part we will see the greatest revival, harvest, and outpouring that will no doubt birth a facility so big that daughter works will come out in such abundance as to reach this entire region!

    Malachi 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,
that there may be meat in mine house,
and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

By us all giving our time, talent, and treasure for the prospering of the Kingdom, God will be provoked to pour out blessings!

    We can’t out give God!

  6. 3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Their is an overwhelming need in this world who will answer the call. Who will GO.

When we can’t go, the command that the King gave was to give and support that is why POFW gives so much to missions, it’s not that we have extra money or because we feel bad for some far off land, it’s because its what we must do.

  7. 5 Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.
6 And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.

A will offering is very powerful. I hhave been blessed to see the fruit of so many. Healings, finances, God taking care of needs, all of these God can do if we would just give willingly. It also was the priests and Levites who did the work. This just goes to show that leadership are the workers of he church body. The leadership of the church is the blood, for it is the blood that washes the body and strengthens it.

  8. Vs. 1-3, ” Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.”

Pastor has put out a challenge before us to add a second service on Sunday Morning, so that, we may continue to build the kingdom of God. I believe God is with us in this cause, but the question is “Who will answer the call?”

    I Will Answer the Call
I Will Help Build the Kingdom of God
I Will Be a Faithful Servant

Here am I LORD, Send Me !

  9. 1 …… the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

Praise the Lord! I’m thankful for my Pastor that is listening to the Voice of God, and seeing the need here in the region! There is a challenge that has been set before us……. BUILD…BUILD…..BUILD!!!!!
As we come together to UNITE, it will happen!

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 KJV)

  10. I WANT IT ALL BACK

    7 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;
8 Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
9 And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,
10 Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.
11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

These verses give us motivation to pray for our Government Leaders and take Spiritual Authority over the Prince of the power of the air. That they would release back to the Kingdom of GOD “everything” that has been taken away by wickedness.

I want the PEOPLE back that Nebuchadnezzar the King of Babylon (Idolatry) has taken from the Temple of GOD.

I want the RESOURCES back that Nebuchadnezzar the King of Babylon (Idolatry) has taken. from the Temple of GOD.

I want the VESSELS back that Nebuchadnezzar the King of Babylon (Idolatry) has taken. from the Temple of GOD.

  11. This chapter illustrates awakening. Jesus stirred the spirit of Cyrus, and as such the people were allowed to go. Cyrus also had what was taken from them returned, and much more was also given to them. The Lord (Jesus) is more than capable of stirring spirits and awakening those today to do the same and much more. One must do their part and pray for what sayeth the Lord through his Word, and through the man of God. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. We find in this chapter a King returning to the originial structure set forth by his forefathers. Calling everyone to return to their roots, to rebuild what had been torn down, and to begin restoration to God’s house.

We should all take a look at our lives and see what basics of salvation and our christian walk we need to return to: daily prayer, reading the Word, fasting, sharing the good news of the gospel with others, bringing a sacrifice unto the Lord of something that is special to us.

  13. ILove to eat water for lunch

STIR UP THE LAND LORDS HEART LORD
The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. (Proverbs 21:1 KJV)

1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom…

IF GOD CAN MOVE THE HEART OF CYRUS, THEN GOD CAN MOVE THE PEOPLE WE NEED TO GO TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

  14. What a mighty God we serve…
What a mighty God we serve…
Angels bow before him; Heaven and Earth adore him…
What a mighty God we serve

All that was taken was returned to Jerusalem by Cyrus. The decree was sent to all the people of Jerusalem to gather a free will offering. Then Cyrus returned all that was taken by Nebuchadnezzar. What has been taken from you? We were asked Sunday evening for a free will offering. Could it be our time of reclamation is at hand? “Again I say; Rejoice!”

  15. 3Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

The very beginning of this verse shows that there may be many children of God but how many will answer the call? There are many churches out there even in the upc but we hear of so few that are out making a difference. Those that are reaching beyond their 4 walls to reach the lost and minister to those in need. In very thankful to be a part of the POFW that not only talks the talk but backs it up by walking the walk. We are very blessed, our cup runneth over, our church is bursting at the seams, but there is still more to do. There are people to reach, bible studies to teach, sick to be healed, etc. Lets not get comfortable where we are at but lets push ourselves over the brink. We are going to run the devil out of Fort Worth and take this city for Jesus Christ! Every devil in hell knows when our feet hit the street lets continue to remind them of who we are and why we are here!

Here i am Lord send me!
Through Christ we will take this city!

  16. I will help build what God is wanting to build through the POFW. The challenge has been set and I’m going to keep on digging.

  17. I pays to listen to God and to the man of God. It is time to put our hands to the plow and start winning the city for Jesus.
I pray I have that sensitive ear to hear when God is speaking as all of us should.

  18. It is funny what comes to mind when we read the old testament .If Cyrus was the King of persia{Iran} and He built the house of God in Jerusalem. Do you think that is one of the reasons they argue over Jerusalem today? They need to read the whole Word and not pick out what they want to see like many churches today. Thank God as a Gentile I can be grafted into His Family and become a spiritual Jew !

  19. In this scripture, you can see how God, blessed them with Gold, Silver, and beasts, and many other goods, but the most notable to me is how he lifted their spirit. Wow…this almost sounds like what he’s going to do at the End Time Rapture. With all the bad that’s going on, we could use some uplifting of spirit. I’m ready…………..

5 Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.

Hmmm, also he will be seated on the throne of David, where? Build the house! Amen & Amen………..

  20. 1-7
The temple treasurers had been taken to Babylon not only for there value but also as trophies of Bbylons victory over Judahs God. Just before Jerusalems fall false prophets predicted an immediate return of these items symbolizing a triumph of Yahweh

  21. v6 And all they that were about them strengthen their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.

The LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, and encouraged those willing to help.
One must be ready at all times. GOD may want to use you and stir your spirit.
We must be obedient to HIS WORD and respond in faith.
No-one willing to help is empty handed as in verse 6 . GOD will always take care of HIS people, HIS church.
” Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
    Matt.16:18

  22. 11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

All these gold and silver vessels totaled 5,400. Sheshbazzar brought them all along when the captives were brought up from Babylon to Jerusalem. -Ezra 1:11

And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; -Deuteronomy 30:2

There are vessels in our city that are on their way back to the house of God. Lord use us to minister to those that come.

  23. 7 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;

When God moves, even the wicked will give to Him. So why do “church people” rob God with their tithes, and their offerings?

  24. 3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

4 And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

Some have hands to build, others boldness to proclaim the gospel, and others have been blessed to give finances but all is for the furtherance of the Kingdom. One body, one vision, one fight!

    • Your post reminds me of this scripture

      Ephesians 4:11-16 KJV

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

  25. This chapter shows the importance of giving. Giving is not to make the church rich. It is so the church can stay in operation and be able to bless the community. We know that if we give with a willing heart, God will bless.

  26. Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

Who is the King of Glory? the Lord Almighty
Just incase you didnt know whos house it is. (he is the God)

This was a oneness scripture that I had not seen. (he is the God) not he is one of the Gods

He is God and we will build the kingdom for he is with us, and if he be for us than who can be against us

  27. Ezra 1:1 NLT

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the LORD fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom.

God stirred the HEART of Cyrus to proclaim words that went throughout his kingdom. This reminds me of God spoke and created the heavens and the earth. My prayer is that we remain to have a HEART that can be stirred
    Genesis 1:1-5 NLT

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

  28. The Lord touched the heart of Cyrus. The word went throughout the kingdom to rebuilt a temple. What an awesome God he knows unitly is needed in order to bring back all that was taken from the temple and to rebuild it.

Thank you Lord for allowing to take a look at myself and bow to you Lord for without you I am nothing. I want nothing more but to take back what has been taken from me. Stir up my heart for you are Holy Lord, I want to rebuilt and take back all that was taken away and bring a heart of joy to your temple .

  29. 11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
Taking back everything the devil stole…
Sheshbazzar brought back all that was taken away from the people of God and stored in Babylon. Surley there was a point were the people of God thought that they would never again see these things but God gave them deliverence and allowed them to recover all that was stolen. Just as we should remember that God will let us recover all that the devil takes away from us and will give it all back!!

  30. The Heart Of The King

Proverbs 21:1 “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

Wednesday, the president of Iran (known for being zealously anti-Israeli) presented a speech before the U.N. This came on the high Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, a time known for the celebrating of Israel coming together as a nation, not the disintegration of national sovereignty into unholy One World Order as Mr. Ahmadinejad described.

Two thoughts come to me as I hear of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking now in response to Mr. Ahmadinejad:

1.) God is still in control. Proverbs 21:1 describes how no king is entirely independent but the King of kings; God still has influence, and He is the One who raises up rulers and casts them down:

Daniel 2:20-22 “20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: 22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.”

Psalms 75:6-7 “6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.”

2.) We as the church have the responsibility of catching the heart of our King:

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Ezekiel 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

Romans 10:14-15 “14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

There are glad tidings of good things (the gospel!) that must be preached, and we the church must know the heart of our King so we can be sent, preach, intercede, etc as He desires. Endtime prophecy speaks of many things, but very important is the fact that at the end there will be a church prepared for her King, without spot or wrinkle, with faith, who will know her God and be strong and do great exploits.

Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

It seems the time for the catching away of the bride of Christ is coming soon; it is high time for us to awake and be the church He has called us to be and allow Him to lead us out of what is displeasing to Him and lead us into what is pleasing to Him. A great harvest is sown, it is time to reap while it is yet day, before there comes the time when the church will be taken up.

  31. Let God Be God

God wanted the temple rebuilt in Jerusalem so He in the midst of His people, His family Israel. God accomplished his plans through people as He “stirred up the spirit” of Cyrus (vs1). As a sovereign God, He does what He chooses, and even pagan kings are subject to Him: Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.

  32. 5 Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem.

I am thankful for my church family-they are all good people who the spirit of God as raised up to create an awesome place of worship in Fort Worth! We are raised up not just to be a great family of believers, but we are raised up to impact our city! The reaping of souls has only just begun!
