Acts Chapter 17

40 Days of FIRE – Day 17

Day 17:  Acts Ch.17. Paul stops in Athens, studies his audience’s culture, and then begins to reason with the Greek  philosophers about the One True God. Pray for God’s guidance to understand today’s culture and as well as how we might more effectively share what God has done in our lives.

Acts 17

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

14 And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

15 And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

33 So Paul departed from among them.

34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

  1. Effective leaders connect before they expect. Only when Paul had built relationships bridges with the people, did he issue a clear call to repent. This is one of the reasons why I like doing Bus ministry, we build relationships with the Bus kids, once the connection is being done, we have the opportunity to witness to the parents. Connection precedes decision. And what happened? According to the text, everyone acted. Some sneered at Paul, others said they wanted to hear more, and others followed immediately.
    In the Hispanic culture is a challenge for parents trust us with their kids, so we had to build a relationship bridge, doesn’t matter if we have to knock at the door every Thursdays and Daturdays, some they have sneered and some they welcome us . Doing that for the past weeks we build a connection with the parents and once the connection is done….. We succeed!!! Action steps in. More kids for the Kingdom of God.

    Paul connected brilliantly with people from different culture, showing he understood both Greek society and human needs.
    We have to put all this to practice in the Bus Ministry if we want to be effective and build connections.
    IT WORKS!!! Seen it happen every Sunday. Relationships build bridges, bridges built trust, trust builds curiosity about why their kids like our church so much, curiosity, opens the door for bible studies.

  2. Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
    Acts 17:16‭-‬17 KJV

    One of the keys to Paul’s successful ministry was that his spirit was moved within him when he saw lost people. He was grieved by idolatry to the point of feeling personally responsible to do something about it. An apathetic church passes people on the streets every day without ever really looking at them or noticing their condition. Soul-winners see lost souls and take it upon themselves to help them be found.

  3. Verse 17 AMP “So he had discussions in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place day after day with any who happened to be there.” Same verse MSG “He discussed it with the Jews and other like-minded people at their meeting place. And every day he went out on the streets and talked with anyone who happened along.” Lord help us to be like Paul and put people that need you in our path. Thank you Lord for the beautiful examples you have placed in my life….my grandfathers and my Dad. You can’t leave my Dad for more than a minute without him striking up a conversation with anyone who walks by and says “Hi”. Before you know it, you see his hand lifted high giving thanks to His God who allows him to raise that hand that doctor’s say he would never be able to do after his stroke.

  4. 27 So that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said. For we are also His offspring.

    As we observe the conditions of our world, nation and even our city. I pray we too are stirred in our spirit to rocognize the needs of our world to know JESUS.

    I Pray that our spirtit is stirred to courage and boldness that Paul exhibited in verse:

    23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
    24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

    That we may tell the world who JESUS is.

    May we GO share HIS Kingdom with those that do not know HIM today.

  6. Acts17:24 ( English Amp) The God Who produce and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in hand -made shrines.
    [18:25] Neither is He served by human hands, as through He lacked anything, for it is He himself who gives life and breath all things to all ( people). [ Isaiah. 42:5] Thus Says God the Lord He who created the heavens and stretched them forth, He Who spread abroad the earth and that which comes out of it, He Who give breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it. I will take You by hand and I will give you for a covenant to the people for a light to the nations.I pray that people will rise up and have boldness , Just like Paul had.

  7. 4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
    5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people

    While it is ideal that every person who hears the gospel receives it with gladness because it is true, there will be many scoffers and they’re going to be people who refused to believe this truth that we speak. No matter how many facts we have to back it up or how right we are in our spirit, there are going to be people who reject this gospel. What I love about this chapter is that Paul focus on the ones they were willing to listen to the gospel and every scoffer who mocked him was set aside. Jesus told his disciples that to anyone who hears the gospel and doesn’t receive it for us to wipe the dust off their feet and move on. It is not our job to bring results, it is our job to plant the seed and let God grow the Harvest. People rejecting the gospel is completely up to them as long as our spirit is right and we are aligned with how and what God has told us to do

  8. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

    As Christians our witness should be so good that we make a difference in others that even the world takes notice.

  9. Paul went to go to preach the gospel to the Jews. We can share God’s word to everyone we know that need him.- Cariana

  10. Understanding is such an important aspect of our walk with God. If we have responded in faith, we need to take the time to gain understanding lest any would come along and steal or corrupt that which we have received. The Bible declares that God’s people are destroyed by lack of knowledge. We need to know who God is and what God desires for our life. It’s not enough just to hear the truth, we need it established as our very foundation!

    When Paul was rejected and moved on from Thessalonica, it was said that ‘These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.’ They didn’t accept our reject what Paul was teaching in the passion of the moment. They took the time to measure it against the word themselves… and many believed!

    It’s important to recognize that understanding is for every individual. Paul’s understanding was such that he was effective in converting many souls. Our understanding can help us do the same today but we should never forget that understanding is first and foremost a matter of our own salvation. The Bible exhorts us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. It is not something to take for granted… our eternal salvation may very well depend on our grasp of his word for our life, so in all of doing, gain understanding!

  11. 32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.
    33 So Paul departed from among them.
    34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

    Paul did not stop preaching the word of God just because of mockers,doubters or unbelievers. If some did not believe the word of God, Paul simply went and told someone else and found those that would believe and surrender their life to Him.
    We must do the same. Just as in Paul’s day, people are the same today. We will find those that mock, those that doubt and those that do not believe. Yet, when we find those precious souls that will give their life over to Jesus an serve Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength; it makes it all worth it!

  12. 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

    Our hearts should be stirred within us at the idolatry and sin that abounds in our world today. We should be moved with compassion when we see the lost, and be moved to a place of intercession for their deliverance.

    If sin doesn’t bother us, if sin doesn’t move us then we need to check our Holy Ghost. Those that walk in the Spirit, should detest sin and all it stands for and have a desire to destroy it’s roots.

  13. 23. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

    I’m so thankful that someone declared unto me who the “Unknown God” is!

    Let me tell you who Jesus is
    He’s the Rock of all ages
    He’s the Alpha and the Omega
    He’s the Heavenly Father
    He’s the Beginning and the End
    Much more than this, my friend
    He’s the Son of Man
    He’s coming back again.

  14. Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.
    Acts 17:3‭, ‬11‭-‬11‭, ‬32 KJV
    We got continue to preach the gospel some will received and some won’t and some will believe and some won’t we got to be Blod
    And keep a great attitude

  15. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
    7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

    Anyone want to be called out for having turned the world upside down?! With so many compromises in our world today, aiming for world peace, it’s like humanity is trying to build our own utopia. But we know God already has a perfected plan; our job is to show everyone Jesus and flip this world around to come repented back to God!

  16. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
    12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

    The difference between the people that heard the word of God through Paul was the readiness of mind and searching the scriptures. It is our attitude. We must have an open heart and mind to his word and ways, searching the word to gain insight and understanding.

  17. 17:5 But the Jews which believe not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lowed fellow of the baser sort, and gathered company, and set all the city on a uproar, and assault ed the house of Jason and sought to bring them out to the people.

    There is no comparation on the magnitud between us and other counties for what they go through for the name of Jesus” the gospel” ….
    But one thing I do know: “ bad people” your neighbor, my neighbor, a family member, you name it… they will try to destroy the work of the Lord in our lives, they will try to speak bad about us, to falsely accuse us, gossip, just do whatever against us, reason: because of the gospel…..

  18. iLove the Kingdom

    “For as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.”
    Acts of the Apostles 17:23

    Wow, according to this verse it is possible to worship God and not really know Him.
    Matthew 7:21-23 KJV Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    Paul addressed this to the people and let them know that the “Unknown God” was the One True God. Praise the Lord, I pray that God would grant each and every one of us wisdom in how to bring the gospel to those that do not really know God.

  19. “As was Paul’s custom, he went to the synagogue service, and for three Sabbaths in a row he used the Scriptures to reason with the people. He explained the prophecies and proved that the Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead. He said, “This Jesus I’m telling you about is the Messiah.””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭17:2-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Paul was very well versed in the Word. If we are to Be Church we must spend our time in His Word. I’m thankful for the Blog. It’s a great start to knowing His Word. We also need to dig deeper. And ask God for more understanding and boldness to tell others of His Word.

  20. Acts 17

    34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.

    Though Paul was mocked while n the city of Athens he continued to reach for the lost. He did not allow the obstacles of ridicule and jests at his character to cause him to cease the work God had called him to do. By the end of the chapter
    Paul sees the results the fruit of his labor. Damaris must have been someone maybe with prestige or influence some day she was the wife of Dionysius. We really do not know . But because of Paul’s perseverance souls were won even during his times of rejection. I pray when we are being rejected that we too will continue in the faith and continue to reach the lost. One rejection could lead to s thousand soul revival. 3000 soul revival in Jesus Name!

He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

    Our God is not containable! He is omnipresent! You can’t have a pocket sized God you only pull out like a worry stone when you need something. God is INFINITE and GLORIOUS! HE is the ONE TRUE LIVING GOD! HIS ways are higher. Establishing Kingdom Prayer in our lives gives us daily wisdom and insight straight from the Power source! We won’t be easily swayed by trinkets and images. Jesus name

  26. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.
    25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
    26 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit it the whole earth, and he determined the times set for them in the exact places where they should live

  27. 18 He also had a debate with some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers. When he told them about Jesus and his resurrection, they said, “What’s this babbler trying to say with these strange ideas he’s picked up?” Others said, “He seems to be preaching about some foreign gods.”

    I know for some the fear of being “weird” can stop someone from sharing the Gospel of Jesus.

    However, in 1 Peter 2:9 says “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;”.

    pe·cu·liar

    strange or odd; unusual.
    “his accent was a peculiar mixture of Cockney and Irish”
    synonyms: strange, unusual, odd, funny, curious, bizarre, weird,

    We are called to be peculiar! We are called to be weird.

    19 Then they took him to the high council of the city. “Come and tell us about this new teaching,” they said. 20 “You are saying some rather strange things, and we want to know what it’s all about.”

    I love how vs 18 states what is this babbler trying to say? Yet, they didn’t stone him or ignore him, they said tell us more! How amazing would it be if your weirdness is the light for Jesus to shine through!

    Let’s be WEIRD for Jesus and spread the gospel!

  28. 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

    We are all blood related; RELATED! =D

  29. “So Paul, standing before the council, addressed them as follows: “Men of Athens, I notice that you are very religious in every way, for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭17:22-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Moving from known to unknown.

    Paul often changed his approach according to his audience. He would establish common ground with them first, and then he would take what they did know and transition to the unknown: The one true living God.
    In today’s society many people claim to be Christian’s but they do not know God. We need to proclaim who He is and make it clear what He did for all of mankind. And we would be wise to learn from Paul’s methods of teaching.

    27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

    28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

    He is the Creator, we are His creation, yet He is still close and personal to all that would seek Him, He is never far away!

  30. Acts 17:24-31
    God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

    25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
    26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

  31. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

    Let it be said of the current Apostolic Church that we have turned the world upside down. That by our preaching, teaching and power of the HG lives have been transformed and futures have been changed. “Its not by might, not by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord.”

  32. Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

    When we share the gospel, we should do it knowing that the seed will be planted. Let’s pray that they will clave unto us and grow with Gid’s Guidance in Jesus Name!

  33. Acts 17:16, “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.”

    Our spirit should be stirred within us when we see and hear about all the things happening in our city and world today. It should cause us to Pray MORE and Fast MORE for the lost souls of our city and world. It should cause us to Testify MORE to the lost souls around us.

  34. 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

    28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

    29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

  35. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

    The Bereans did two things that impressed God- they eagerly, hungrily received the Word but then and probably most importantly, they didn’t just take the preacher’s word for it; They searched which means to investigate, examine, enquire into, scrutinise, sift, question, whether it was true or not!!!!!

    [2Ti 2:15 KJV] 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  36. 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

    God is always with us.

  37. 27- 28 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

    He is never to far to call out to! He wants us to seek for him and find his salvation! God I’m running after you! You hear our every cry and know our every thought, you’re never to far for us to reach out to you! In you God we live for and do your work in this world for we our your children!

  38. Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

    2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

    3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

    4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

    5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

    6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

    7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

    8 And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

    9 And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.

    The drift and scope of Paul’s preaching and arguing, was to prove that Jesus is the Christ. He must needs suffer for us, because he could not otherwise purchase our redemption for us; and he must needs have risen again, because he could not otherwise apply the redemption to us. We are to preach concerning Jesus that he is Christ; therefore we may hope to be saved by him, and are bound to be ruled by him. The unbelieving Jews were angry, because the apostles preached to the Gentiles, that they might be saved. How strange it is, that men should grudge others the privileges they will not themselves accept! Neither rulers nor people need be troubled at the increase of real Christians, even though turbulent spirits should make religion the pretext for evil designs. Of such let us beware, from such let us withdraw, that we may show a desire to act aright in society, while we claim our right to worship God according to our consciences.

  39. 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
    17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
    18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
    assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

    Despite what the majority of people may be doing or saying it is important to stand for God’s truth. To stand up for what is holy, for what is godly. In this untoward generation it is as important as ever to stay away from even the appearance of evil; to stay true to God and His Word. Praise the Lord! For He is great and mighty! Even as Paul stood against an entire city given to idolatry, in the end there were some that came to God, that believed. It was completely worth the mocking that Paul received in exchange for even a few souls saved. How much more can we be doing today!? With God on my side, I can do all things through Him! Praise the Lord!

  40. Josiah: 20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean…
    22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said…
    We have to be ready at all times to speak what we know and believe according to the word of God. After we are saved we are supposed to stay saved and witness to others. So many people talk to me at school. Some I hang around with a lot and others I don’t. I do not have time to prepare a lesson and talk a week later to them. We have to be spontaneous. So, let us GO WITNESS to lost souls!

  41. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

    There is something about a person that has a teachable spirit. They are moldable, they are eager to learn, and they are passionate enough to allow faith to drive them to take risks. Lord, keep me teachable. Do not allow me to become complacent with where I cam but lead me to deeper things and I will follow.

  42. “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  43. And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.
    Acts of the Apostles 17:11 NLT

    When someone is teaching something about the gospel it is always wuse to search the scriptures to make sure that what is being taught is the truth. Now days we must be aware of false teachings. It is our responsibility to know and teach the truth.

  44. 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

    28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

    29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

    30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

    God is alive and not the work of man through an image.

  45. 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

    Those who believe not cause damage to themselves. We shall decrease so Jesus can increase. Let me shine for you Lord. Let nothing stand in the way of your will.

  46. “And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    The way they turned the world upside down way was by sp asking Jesus Name! We have to share about the death and resurrection. We have to share the saving power of the blood. We have to share the baptism of the Lord Jesus. He have to tell JESUS NAME! We have to turn our world upside down and ride the world of “the unknown god.”

  47. 2As was Paul’s custom, he went to the synagogue service, and for three Sabbaths in a row he used the Scriptures to reason with the people.

    Don’t just rely on hearing the Word, but study the Word. If you have doubts about a message, read, research, study and pray to God for understanding.

  48. 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

    Their is a difference between being moved in the Spirit and moved with envy. When the Jews believed not they rejected God, then began to operate in enmity with Him. This is a dangerous thing physically and spiritually. This is why it’s important for us to stand strong in the Lord and resist the enemy and he will flee. Even when they reject us God will make a way for us like he did the Apostles.

  49. v31
    The Church can exist and expand in victory through the power of the Spirit of GOD. We have a spiritual resurrection today and the promise of the future Rapture and resurrection of the dead.

  50. 23 And then I found one inscribed, to the god nobody knows. I’m here to introduce you to this God so you can worship intelligently, know who you’re dealing with.

    Isaac Newton, invented calculus and modern physics! It doesn’t get much more intelligent than that. He also firmly believed in God. We must know who we worship and why. 2 Timothy states: Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. God does not accepts shoddy work! To be diligent, approved workman, we have to correctly handle the truth. Nothing will help us more to please God than to study carefully and correctly share God’s word.
