Matthew 13

The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

51 Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

53 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

  1. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather OUT OF HIS KINGDOM all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, BUT CAST THE BAD AWAY. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
    Matthew 13:41‭, ‬47‭-‬49 KJV

We cannot assume we are saved just because we are a part of the church. Jesus plainly said that there would be those in His Kingdom on Earth who offend because they are full of iniquity. He said there were good and bad, wheat and tares, coming up together in His Kingdom until the time of the end.

Thus, we must do more than get baptized, talk in tongues, and show up for church. We must allow the Spirit and blood of God to separate us from our lives of habitual iniquity. We need the process of sanctification at work in our lives making us more and more like our Lord—separating us further and further from the sin we once indulged in. When the end comes, we want to be among those who are good and faithful servants and not those who are found to still be workers of iniquity.

  2. For whoever has [spiritual wisdom because he is receptive to God’s word], to him more will be given, and he will be richly and abundantly supplied; but whoever does not have [spiritual wisdom because he has devalued God’s word], even what he has will be taken away from him.
    MATTHEW 13:12 AMP
The value we place on God’s Word determines the amount of spiritual wisdom and revelation we can receive. God honors those who honor His Word. For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord : but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and TREMBLETH AT MY WORD.
    Isaiah 66:2 KJV

  3. 44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and his, and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

  4. The beginning part of verses 11-15 MSG says “He replied, “You’ve been given insight into God’s kingdom. You know how it works. Not everybody has this gift, this insight; it hasn’t been given to them. Whenever someone has a ready heart for this, the insights and understandings flow freely. But if there is no readiness, any trace of receptivity soon disappears. That’s why I tell stories: to create readiness, to nudge the people toward receptive insight…….”. Are we receptive? Are we ready, willing and able? Let us make ourselves available in order for us to be ready to receive and bring others toward a new understanding of who Jesus is, for Jesus rescues!

  5. Turn our hearts to GOD!!

For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’
    Matthew 13:15 NLT
Since the very beginning of time God has desired a covenant relationship, with his creation. Why is it that we continue to reject God’s word and His glory? We as a children of God must continue working in his kingdom to bring in the Harvest that is ripe and ready. We serve a merciful and loving GOD, this we know. So for the time being we must ‘work.’ It takes all hands on the plow. No matter how hot (trials) it gets!

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
    Matthew 6:10 KJV

  6. 56. He came to Nazareth, the town where He had grown up. He taught at the local synagogue, and the people were astonished.
People: Is this our little Jesus? Is this Mary’s son? Is this the carpenter’s son? Is this Jesus, brother of James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Didn’t we just see His sisters yesterday at the market? Where did He learn all this? Whence His power?

    57. They were offended by Him-by His teachings, by who He was.
Jesus: Prophets are respected-except in their hometowns and in their own households. There the prophet is dishonored.

    58. Jesus didn’t bother to work wondrous miracles there in Nazareth because the people did not believe. Voice

We can’t allow ourselves to become so familiar with being in God’s presence that we lose our zeal and let it become common to us. If our faith, excitement and expectations are low, our guests’ will be also and they won’t receive what they need from Him.

  7. Matthew 13:11-12 (English Amp) And He replied to them, To you it has been given to know the secrets and mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven, But to them it has not been given. [12] For whoever has
[ spiritual knoweledge], to him will more be given and he will be furnished richly so that he will have abundance; But from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Read, Study, Your word and be kingdom minded and just do it.

  8. 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given

Even Jesus used one of the most effective tools to teaching, parables, we call them stories or analgies but they help bring relevatory understanding with simple concepts. Jesus didn’t use fancy words and knowledge to meander around showboating and expecting people to understand, he spoke at their level of to help them comprehend things much easier. It’s not always about the ground, it’s also about how the seeds are sown

  9. 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

“I should heal them…” “should be converted, and I should heal them…”

This jumped out at me. Are we leaving something out? Is this something that Jesus has had planned for us, and we stop so many times at Salvation?
Jesus wants us to be totally healed. That means for us to be restored, to Him.

  10. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Jesus made it so easy for everyone to understand what the Kingdom was about. Telling parables simple stories . Yet in the end their hearts were filled with unbelief. I wonder what miracles did these people forfeit because of their unbelief.
How many times do we miss the miracle God has because of unbelief? I pray each day as we walk throotbe city of Fort Worth that we will find those who are hungry and who are waiting for someone to share the story of our life and to lead them right into the miracle God has in store for them . In Jesus name.

  11. 54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Sometimes no matter how much you have changed, Born again by baptism of Jesus Christ, Holy Ghost filled, and living right. Those who knew you before sit and wait for the day you make a mistake. It hurts that you try so hard and you want them show them the miracle of being a new creature but they can see pass the old you. All we can do is pray! pray that God will help their unbelief and let them see that you are not who you used to be. Pray that the Lord Jesus Christ keep their eyes open and heart soften and ready to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  12. iLove the Kingdom
Mat 13:55 Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas.
Mat 13:56 All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?”
Mat 13:57 And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.”

There are so many great nuggets in this chapter today. One thing is for sure, Mary the mother of Jesus had other children. The bible right there says “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?”, you might say, “Brother Morgan, what does that matter?” Well, this might be hard to believe, but the Catholic Church teaches that Jesus was the “only child” of Mary. They worship Mary and call her the “Queen of Heaven”. If you want a major debate on your hands, just tell a Catholic that Jesus Momma and Stepdad had a honeymoon after Jesus was born. Boom, you will have a fight on your hands. Somehow to them, it brings Mary back down to earth and removes her deity and therefore makes the worship of her less important.

Well, sorry my Catholic friends (and I do have some) but Mary was just a woman. Yep, a vessel used by God for a certain season of life. She had many sons and daughters after Jesus was born (if you believe the Bible. See verse :55) but He was more than just a carpenter’s son, He was the Son of God.

    • That is true my brother!
The subject of Mary having more children is so hard for the Catholic to believ. Even though the evidence are so obvious, but it’s an ideology that it’s been for centuries.

  13. “And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Look at that last part, “a sower went forth to sow.”
Had no idea if it was gonna do any good where he sowed the Bible then says this.
When sowed some fell by the Wayside, some on the Stoney places, and some fell on the Thorns, and some fell on Good ground.

Out of all that sowing only 1 Ground was good. This sower didn’t stop and neither should we. Remember Kingdom faithfulness you plant that seed then you water it through being faithful in prayer and fasting.
We’re sowing seed all over the place and the people coming in getting baptized on Monday nights Tuesday nights, Wednesday nights, Thursday nights, Friday, Saturday Sunday…these people are the outcome of sowing seed on Good ground. They to that seed either out of an answered prayer or curiosity and are now working for eternal peace and joy in the Lord!

    Let’s sow some seeds

  14. 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

  15. 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

The devil sends tares among us whether it be at church, on our jobs, among our acquaintances and so forth. We must realize with spiritual eyes who is who. As a revival church we have new believers and babes who are just starting this journey and may or may not have the perception of a seasoned saint so we must be ready to guard these precious souls as well as our own hearts from the deception of the enemy. We must know the word of God and not be led away by other theories or doctrines.

  16. St. Matthew 13:36-43
    36) Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
    37) He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
    38) The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
    39) The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
    40) As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of this world.
    41) The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
    42) And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
    43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

  17. w how it works. Not everybody has this gift, this insight; it hasn’t been given to them. Whenever someone has a ready heart for this, the insights and understandings flow freely. But if there is no readiness, any trace of receptivity soon disappears. That’s why I tell stories: to create readiness, to nudge the people toward receptive insight.

  18. , neither do they understand.

    J. Soliz

  19. “Here is another illustration Jesus used: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.” Jesus also used this illustration: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:31-33‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Though we be little now, though those of the world may outnumber those of the church right now, as long as we keep working, keep planting those seeds, we will soon permeate every part of this earth. Soon we will outnumber those of the world because the seeds we have planted are beginning to sprout up everywhere!
We won’t stop till Fort Worth knows!
We won’t stop till the whole world knows!

  20. 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Not everyone hears, sees, and understands but blessed are we whose eyes have been opened! We must go share and teach this gospel for others to see and hear too, we’ve got a whole world to reach!

  21. The Seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. Matthew 13: 20,21 NLT

  22. 20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

  23. That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand. For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’ “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.
    Matthew 13:13‭, ‬15‭-‬16 NLT
You could go to church but not be in the church you might not be able to understand because your attention is not on the preacher but it’s on something else you can sit in church and hear the the preacher but don’t receive it. This goes with the more you seek GOD the more you will find this coming by praying and obeying the word of GOD

  24. 17 I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.

We cannot despise where we are at currently, yes, long for the next level, work towards the next level. But don’t take for granted where you are at now, learn what you are there to learn so you can GROW to the next level. Where you are at now may seem as a nuisance to you, but is another’s desire.

  25. 13:55,56,57 Is not this the carpenter ‘s son? Is not this his mother called Mary ? And his brtheren James, and Jose’s, and Simon, and Judas?
And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without ho our, save in his own country, and in his own house.
    ———-
Let us not miss it.( the time, oportunity,,)NOW! Is the time of Salvation. Believe now, obey now.

  26. 33 He told them another parable, “The kingdom of heaven is like [d]leaven, which a woman took and worked into three [e]measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

Leaven is an agent that multiples whatever it is placed in. For instance it is like “yeast” that we use in making dough. Once the yeast is placed in the mixture it causes the mixture to double sometimes triple in size, allowing you to do more with the dough than you could have before the yeast was added.

Applying this to our lives – we could be the “yeast” when doing the work of the Kingdom we as a congregation should multiply more times than we can imagine because we are adding the “yeast” – the spirit of God, the word of God, the will of God in everything that we do.

  27. Josiah: 44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
This man in the parable sold all that he had. It does not matter how much earthly treasure we have if we do not have a relationship with God and obey Him. So, let us GO SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD!

  28. THY KINGDOM COME
    FAITH

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

    What IF?….

What if the only hinderance to the miraculous in our lives is OUR OWN limited, limiting FAITH. “Unbelief”

UNBELIEF – incredulity or skepticism especially in matters of religious faith

INCREDULITY – 1 : unwilling to admit or accept what is offered as true : not credulous : skeptical
    2 : incredible

I propose today that the power of our own words are limiting our FAITH. A popular word among believers is “incredible” but what are we really saying…

INCREDIBLE – too extraordinary and improbable to be believed

The word INCREDIBLE speaks the unbelief, even though we think it be extraordinary or supernatural, we should speak those words instead of “INCREDIBLE” because we shall have what we say and the word incredible means “UNBELIEF”.

Unbelief is the reason that JESUS didn’t do many mighty works.

Consider this, the word INCRDIBLE is in the KJV Bible “1” time and the WORD of GOD will confer what JESUS has revealed today.

Acts 26:8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

incredible – 571. apistos; from 1 (as a negative particle) and 4103; (actively) disbelieving, i.e. without Christian faith (specially, a heathen); (passively) untrustworthy (person), or incredible (thing): — that believeth not, faithless, incredible thing, infidel, unbeliever(-ing).

In the testimony of Paul to King Agrippa he asked the question, “why should it be unbelievable to you that GOD should raise the dead.

I propose to The POFW that we speak no more of “incredible” but supernatual expressing our FAITH in JESUS that HE will do many mighty works.

  29. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  30. 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Trying to share the Gospel with your family can be harder than trying to pull teeth. They can sometimes only see you for your familiarity and for your mess ups. Offense comes very easy with those we’ve shared a life with sometimes. But even for those people you can only share what God gave you. If they reject it they’re rejecting Him not you. Shake the dust from your sandals and keep moving.

  31. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

The Kingdom of God is Valued at such a price that no one can buy it. But if you receive The Holy Ghost, then you can inherit it.

    Let His Kingdom Come

  32. 49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

We are in this world but not of this world. Surely even as we keep the world out of our homes, out of our lives, out of our hearts, we need to be sure that we are sharing this gospel to those throughout this world. Even as the wheat and tares are gathered up together and the different fish gathered together and then sorted, I need to be sure that I am living my life devoted to God! So that I am one that goes to heaven and not hell. Truly these parables show the stark difference in the two places you can go and I want to be sure that what I am doing, the life that I am living, leads to eternity with God! Praise the Lord! For He is great!

  33. The parable of the sower makes sense to us today because we’ve heard it’s application to soul winning so many times that it’s almost become part of the inheritance that gets passed down among us… but consider how it was received when Jesus spoke it. Many of the parables were immediately received due to their similarity to everyday activities. The spiritual side of the parable just makes sense when they considered it in the natural application… but consider the parable here of a sower. A farmer does not waste his time sowing seed in poor soil. He even exerts a great deal of effort upon his soil to improve the yield of his harvest. In the natural, it would not make sense to waste good seed on bad ground. In this case, Jesus was intentionally using a contrary example to highlight a difference in mindset.

Just as the farmer, we may be inclined to take a closer look at the souls around us before we decide how far to cast the seed… but unlike the farmer we don’t have an accurate means of doing so. What we think we can see on the outside may be entirely different from what God sees on the inside. Instead of trying to find the best ground to spend our time, and missing hungry souls in need, our purpose is now focused on the seed. We may not be able to accurately judge the spiritual ground, but we know without any doubts the quality of the seed! Jesus measures our faithfulness in the distribution of his seed! The souls that receive that seed will be judged on whether it bears fruit, while we are judged in our willingness to share it!

  34. 31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

  35. 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

As Christian believers it is ok and we should often ask for revelation of the things said in His Word. That we may understand and have revelation.

  36. V13-15
God is speaking and leading but it take a willing heart to hear and to follow the voice of God.
I never want God to say you heard my voice and saw my leading but you never fully committed because I couldn’t get past self, the things I wanted to do. I do not want to end up like multitude was with God himself heard the voice of God and could see Him with there eyes but yet could not get kingdom minded. Must seek God daily for His will and work for the day.

  37. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

It’s like when brothers and sisters come from other churches and see how GOD IS SOOOO GOOD TO US, HOW HE HAS BLESSED US WITH SUCH GREAT LEADERSHIP !!! How THE LORD blesses us with prophets and elders that KNOW what they are preaching, why? Because they not only talk it BUT THEY WALK IT!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  38. 17 I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.

  39. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

God allows the tares to grow amongst the wheat in order to make sure that the wheat doesn’t get plucked up by accident. When Jesus comes back for his bride without spot or blemish he allows her to grow in the world first. The church and the believers within it will go through tests and trials which will reveal the wheat from the tares. Even though the opportunity to sin is just around each corner Jesus awaits for just the right time to separate the two. The tares symbolize the unrepentant world that rejects God. In the end it will not matter where we grew but what we overcome.

  40. 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Not everyone understand and sees the revelation. However to all those that hear the Lord lets us see and know the mysteries of His Kingdom. All the parables are to help us spiritually and help us see how He sees in our own level. God is so amazing that He is willing to show us at our own level his greatness.

  41. THE MUSTARD SEED
It is like a seed of faith that one
    accepted and sowed in the
Word. It grew in strength of
    knowledge until others could
Come and find shelter in the
    Knowledge thereof.

  42. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

We are blessed to have the WHOLE gospel! Many of the writers wrote there experience as it can to pass.

We have the privilege to see the beginning and the ending. We know the devil is defeated and we know is loses and we know his end.

Even though we have not seen Him face to face, we have what many before us wish they could have lived. The best time to be the church is NOW!

  43. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

The truth is that our disbelief of the potential and destiny that is within someone could cause us to miss out on the miraculous. We cannot be so closed minded that we get caught up in the natural attributes and statistics of a man that we do not see the God that is shaping Him and ordering His steps because He is willing and obedient. Unbelief will cause us to miss out of great relationships or connects that could add greatness to our lives. Let’s not worry about the wrong things and focus on the Kingdom.

  44. What is it worth to you?

44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Someone says that one mans trash is another mans treasure. Ask someone that is trying to fix up an old car, you can only find some of the parts you need at a “Junk Yard”. But these things are priceless when the project is being completed. If in business you find an opportunity to double your profits by selling all that you have, it would be stupid not to do it. This is the same principle. What is it worth to have eternal life? Our life here is a minuscule investment of time compared to eternity so to give up this life for eternal is a no brainer. The investment yield is very profitable. What we sacrifice here in the flesh will be more than compensated for in the afterlife. Someone said that the Pay for a servant of God is not great on the earth but the retirement plan is the best. Your most valuable thing in the earth is your time and what you spend it on will determine what it is worth. How much are we investing in our eternity? What is it worth?

  45. The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

    3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Jesus entered into a boat that he might be the less pressed, and be the better heard by the people. By this he teaches us in the outward circumstances of worship not to covet that which is stately, but to make the best of the conveniences God in his providence allots to us. Christ taught in parables. Thereby the things of God were made more plain and easy to those willing to be taught, and at the same time more difficult and obscure to those who were willingly ignorant. The parable of the sower is plain. The seed sown is the word of God. The sower is our Lord Jesus Christ, by himself, or by his ministers. Preaching to a multitude is sowing the corn; we know not where it will light. Some sort of ground, though we take ever so much pains with it, brings forth no fruit to purpose, while the good soil brings forth plentifully. So it is with the hearts of men, whose different characters are here described by four sorts of ground. Careless, trifling hearers, are an easy prey to Satan; who, as he is the great murderer of souls, so he is the great thief of sermons, and will be sure to rob us of the word, if we take not care to keep it. Hypocrites, like the stony ground, often get the start of true Christians in the shows of profession. Many are glad to hear a good sermon, who do not profit by it. They are told of free salvation, of the believer’s privileges, and the happiness of heaven; and, without any change of heart, without any abiding conviction of their own depravity, their need of a Saviour, or the excellence of holiness, they soon profess an unwarranted assurance. But when some heavy trial threatens them, or some sinful advantage may be had, they give up or disguise their profession, or turn to some easier system. Worldly cares are fitly compared to thorns, for they came in with sin, and are a fruit of the curse; they are good in their place to stop a gap, but a man must be well armed that has much to do with them; they are entangling, vexing, scratching, and their end is to be burned, Hebrews 6:8. Worldly cares are great hinderances to our profiting by the word of God. The deceitfulness of riches does the mischief; they cannot be said to deceive us unless we put our trust in them, then they choke the good seed. What distinguished the good ground was fruitfulness. By this true Christians are distinguished from hypocrites. Christ does not say that this good ground has no stones in it, or no thorns; but none that could hinder its fruitfulness. All are not alike; we should aim at the highest, to bring forth most fruit. The sense of hearing cannot be better employed than in hearing God’s word; and let us look to ourselves that we may know what sort of hearers we are.

  46. 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Our faith is what moves Jesus. When we are offended by His word, we show that we don’t trust Him and that unbelief stops Jesus from working. The only way Jesus can work in our lives is if we trust Him 100%. We are our own worst enemy. We have to overcome our doubt and hold on to faith. Without faith, we displease Jesus and hold back from seeing Him glorify Himself.

  47. Matthew 13:24-26

  48. 18“Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds:

What seed do you represent? Each of us represent one of these seeds. Do you hear only the Word? Do you hear and listen to the Word? Do you hear, listen and obey the Word? We should strive to do all three, and be servants of God’s Kingdom.
