1 Peter 2

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

  1. 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    Our faith is our sacrifice. “Even if I am to be poured out as a libation upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all” (Philippians 2:17).

    The love of God is our sacrifice. “And to love … is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices” (Mark 12:33).

    Our repentance is our sacrifice. “Take with you words, and turn to the Lord; and say unto him, take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously; and so will we render the calves of our lips” (Hosea 14:2). It is safe to assume that if repentance, even under the old covenant, was a “sacrifice,” so it still is.

    Our confession of faith in Christ is a sacrifice. “Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips which make confession to his name … with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (Hebrews 13:15,16).

    Our praise of God is our sacrifice. “Let us offer up a sacrifice of praise unto God, that is, the fruit of our lips” (Hebrews 13:15). There are also important Old Testament glimpses of this same truth. “Bringing sacrifices of praise unto the house of God” (Jeremiah 17:26). “Sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare his works with rejoicing” (Psalms 107:22; Psalms 116:117).

  2. 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
    25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

    The Bible often refers to us a sheep. I think it’s very easily comparable given that sheep are completely lost have no direction without their Shepherd and likewise so are we. We need someone to come in and save us and we need someone to guide us and direct our hearts and our minds towards doing what is right. When left to our own vices we will ultimately destroy ourselves. We must stop trusting our hearts and our minds and begin to trust God more and more everyday.

  3. Verses 9-10 MSG “But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”

    John 15:16 AMP says “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you.”

    This reminded me of the song “Go Tell It on the Mountain”:

    Go tell it on the mountain
    Over the hills and everywhere
    Go tell it on the mountain
    Our Jesus Christ is born

    When I was a seeker
    I sought both night and day
    I asked the Lord to help me
    And he showed me the way

    “I Seek”……..”We Seek”……..”Let’s Seek Together”.

  4. 9. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

    John 15:
    16. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

    -Two thousand years later we are the same generation Peter wrote about because we are children of the same Father, which gives us the same privileges, such as “whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

    Luke 11:
    9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; SEEK, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

    10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that SEEKeth findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

    11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

    12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

    13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

  5. Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
    1 Peter 2:23‭-‬25 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/1pe.2.23-25.KJV
    When He was reviled and insulted, He did not revile or offer insult in return; [when] He was abused and suffered, He made no threats [of vengeance]; but he trusted [Himself and everything] to Him Who judges fairly. He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed. For you were going astray like [so many] sheep, but now you have come back to the Shepherd and Guardian (the Bishop) of your souls. [Isa. 53:5, 6.]

    Ok, I love how the amplified version breaks it down and adds OT reference to these scriptures! But I also like how the word knows how to show us some meat! So We go through so many things in life, we get lied on, kids disrespect us, they talk down to us as a adults, people steal from us, People judge us, they watch us, and instead of looking for the good, they look for the “Hmmm I knew they weren’t all that Christians ” ” look at you all christafied (dont know what that even means but my family is very creative)” always comparing us to our past, THEY DID WORSE TO JESUS. Letting g all that roll off my back is a difficult task, I’m left conflicted, I wanna lash back! But I have the most excellent example of temperance, patience, humbleness, meekness! How did he do it? Only he knows, but he did, and I’m so grateful, My favorite thing to do in situations like this is RUN, that is my MO, but I always end up right back to where I was, If I am submitted to God, and I have no doubt that God is who say he is, and I know who I am, I begin to build confidence in my self, in my Relationship with God, and he is taking old habits and methods away, but I have to Choose to follow his example, otherwise I remain an angry, confused, unstable hot mess, instead of a Stable, confident, steadfast, grounded, rooted Woman of God who eats meat, and is off the babies milk.

  6. This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step. He never did one thing wrong, Not once said anything amiss. They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.
    1 Peter 2:21‭-‬25 MSG
    You know; when I stop and think back of the kind of life I was leading; it is an oh my God moment. How did i survive: i was always i. Debt to somebody for gas or money for lunch. I was a train wreck. This was just in 2012: now I see where God had pulled me up from my own murky mire and set me upon the rock to build my spiritual house. Am o there yet; not quite, but the building has begun with God as the chief cornerstone of my house: the house has begun to take shape. There is still quite a bit of work to be done, but I will get there through the grace of God. The only thing I have to do is leave the world alone; bring myself into subjection. What does that mean for me; I have to learn to submit myself to God 100%. 🤔 why have I not done that yet; oh yeah, it’s this stupid flesh I keep falling over.
    Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
    Acts 5:29 KJV
    For we all stumble and sin in many ways . If anyone does not stumble in what he says [never saying the wrong thing], he is a perfect man [fully developed in character, without serious flaws], able to bridle his whole body and rein in his entire nature [taming his human faults and weaknesses].
    JAMES 3:2 AMP
    We will stumble many times, but it’s what we do that makes the difference. Do just lay there or get bnb up and try again. Many give up after the first time. It’s those that are dedicated that will get up and try again. Eventually you won’t stumble in that one thing. There are many more blocks out there, but you just have to take them one at a time. For each one you conquer: you become stronger. Let God order your steps and remember He will never give up on you, but will you give up on Him. It is your inner strength and faith that will keep you getting up and running that race again and again. Thank you Jesus for giving me the courage to get back up and run again.

  7. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

    3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

    4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

    5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

  8. As newborn babies desire the sincere word of the lord that may grow thereby so I have tasted that the lord is gracious,to those who are coming into a living stone did not allow indeed of men into the house of god but chosen to god he is precious

  9. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

    12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation

    To be apostolic there should be works and actions that follow you. It is truly the apostolic doctrine of action. We see here some key, but action words: abstain from fleshly lusts, honest conversations, and good works…just to name a few. And doing them can be counted as faith just by obedience. And thus you find yourself to have faith, with works that are pleasing unto God that should yield the greater faith for the signs (actions) that follow them that believe… it is the baby steps, (being faithful in the least like obedience to his statues and commands) that count us as faithful that the true riches, treasures of his Kingdom, shall be entrusted unto us.

  10. 1 Peter 2: 2 [Amp] Like newborn babies you should crave [ thirst for, earnestly desire] the pure
    [ undulterated] spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [ completed salvation. Since you have [ already] tasted the goodness and kindness of the Lord. Come to the Lord and be a living stone. Come and build yourself into a spiritual house and offer up spiritual sacrifices that are pleasing to God. [ Ps. 118 : 22] The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. For the Lord this day that Lord has made and I will rejoice in it. At midnight I will rise up to give thanks to You, and heed to your precepts. Lord you are my comfort and consolation in my affiction, that your word has revived you and me and Jesus has given us life. Lord you are light of the World. ” Halaula ” Glory to be to my King of Kings.

  11. 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    We no longer offer burnt offerings in sacrifice to God, but instead now we should offer Jesus a sacrifice of praise continually each and every day. He is worthy.

  12. What came to my mind while I was reading this chapter was when Pastor says where does it say that in the Bible? If you can’t prove it in the Bible it’s more than likely not true. We have to question what we say today, and step aside and say is that in the Bible? If it’s not we should probably pray to God to check if we are in shape to him. WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT IN THE BIBLE???? Think POFW😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

  13. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    When you are born again, God covered you with his mercy and grace. He has chosen you to represent him on earth. you should be holy and separate from the ways of the world so that others might see His light through you.

  14. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    It is okay to be peculiar because that is what God has called to be! He wants us to be different than everyone else so that way people can see that we have something different than everyone else so that they may want to know what we are doing differently. What makes us joyful even in bad situations? To whom do we give such faith to? And we can tell them that it is Jesus that gives us joy.

  15. 19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

    20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

    Submit yourself.
    In anything we do in this life to increase or benefit in some areas we first have to submit ourselves. If you already struggle with pride then submitting might be a little tough. I’m gonna be honest before the Holy Ghost I wasn’t very good at this, really not a lot of people are and that’s pride. Jesus humbly submittied himself to the will of God (What He knew he had to do). Following Christ we have to be submissive to the good guys and the bad because in the eyes of the Lord submission is always good.

  16. ““Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.””
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    When you think of God’s mercy we automatically think about grace. Many people get the two mixed up. Although they are close in meaning they are not the same thing. Grace is God’s unmerited favor and it goes beyond mercy. Mercy is God not giving us the punishment that we deserve for our sins.
    God’s mercy to us is the motivation for showing mercy to others. We will never be asked to forgive someone else more than God has forgiven us.

    Psalm 25:6-7 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

    Ephesians 2:4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.

  17. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Desire the word—Seek after it

    Milk is the only substance for small babies, but big kids drink it too. I know plenty of adults who desire milk all the time. We can’t dismiss the things that fed our soul when we were new Christians just because we have “outgrown them”. Adults still need the nutrients provided by the milk of the word to stand firm in their beliefs and to share with new believers. We must continue to desire/seek those things which are good even if we aren’t a baby in Christ any longer. There is always room to grow.

  18. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    We are the generation for this time. Have you ever wanted to go back in time to another generation to see what it was like? As a child I used too, but now I understand that God allowed me to be here in this time for a reason. God has ordained us to be here, now. We are a royal priesthood, meaning we are of the royal blood line that are called to minister. A holy nation, we must live according to the Word of God. And a peculiar people, set apart for those people and things around us. God has truly chosen and called you for this time and place. You are chosen by God. And if we will get the revelation of First the Kingdom, wow.
    Young people-God did not make a mistake when he made you,you. God has allowed you to be apart of this generation for a reason. Let’s focus on His Kingdom and he will bless you.

  19. 1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
    2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
    3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
    4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
    5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    We shouldn’t be at the same spot we were at when we first came to God. We should always be growing in the Lord. We shouldn’t still be fighting the same battles we did when we first got into church. Paul said I die daily 1 cor 15 I believe that this verse means so much more than just speaking in tongues everyday or asking God to clean your heart. I believe he was saying I learn new things about God everyday and I learn what I need to do to get things out of my life to be more like him. I don’t think Paul fought the same battles he foght when he first got saved. I believe he fought new battles new temptations. This is where the armour of God comes in to play. That you believe and trust that no matter what comes against you God is King he will bring me out.

  20. Same God, DIfferent Results

    7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

    8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

    God is the same yesterday today and forever. Whether you believe in him or not, he is still the same. Whether you agree with him or not, he is still the same. Whether you understand him or not, he is still the same. Wether you know him or not, he is still the same. So he can either be the cornerstone or the base of your foundation upon which you stand and build your life or he can be that treasure that Pastor preached about in the middle of the field which you have rejected. The treasure cannot be moved so now it is something that you trip over and are frustrated about every day. We have to make a decision everyday either to make God the best thing that has ever happened to us or a point of frustration and malice.

    Same God, Different Results

  21. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    We are His people, bought by the blood of The Lamb. Chosen to be His temple, to be His light, to be His body. We are chosen to be a example of Jesus and His goodness in this world. “For Your glory, I will do anything.”

  22. 1 Peter 2
    1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

    2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

    Amplified: Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation, (Amplified Bible

    If we thirst for the word we will not just quickly read scriptures and make a mark satingvwe have read for today the required reading. A coconut has a hard shell . You break it and there is milk which is delicious. Yet there is more there is The the fruit itself. Some only go for the fruit but deep inside is the milk. Nourishment from the entire piece of fruit . As we take in the sincere word the words that were breathed onto the prophets disciples by God we will grow stronger everyday. We must desire it though. We must allow it to nourish us to grow. We can read wecan listen to preaching but it we regurgitate it there will be no growth . If we refuse it’s nourishment we will not be able to grow strong spiritual bones so I believe one of the main words is desire to really want it to absorb what we are reading to apply what is preached . So that in the nurturing we can become complete mature in Christ.

  23. iLove the Kingdom in Action
    Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
    1Pe 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

    This chapter is like a heavy weight champion throwing uppercuts knocking every excuse outta the book! “My boss is mean…” (knocked outta the ring). The only way a lost and dying world is going to get saved is to see fruit (out of season) on your life in the middle of all hades breaking out. God is well pleased when you are mistreated and handle it with class instead of giving them a piece of your mind. Not only that, that mean ole boss will glorify God when he or she realizes they cannot push your buttons.

    Think about it like this…
    You have a mean boss. He knows you’re a Christian. If he can push the right buttons each day, that proves to him that you are fake and your religion is fake (in his mind anyway).1 Peter 2:15  It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.

  24. So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.
    1 Peter 2:1‭, ‬7‭-‬9‭, ‬11‭-‬12 NLT
    Like pastor pastor said yesterday night service seek God first and watch things change . there should be anything in this world that you want more then to be closer to GOD . God YOUR Presence is Heaven to Me

  25. 4 You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.

    Amen Amen!!! Many of us have been rejected and humiliated by other people because were Apostostolics. I have been made fun of my own family but at the end I have learned that if God himself was humiliated, punished, beat, made fun of, how much more me???? Yes it hurts but we have to keep it in our minds that we’re following and pleasing God not men. We have to set our eyes on Him and not men. It might seem easy to let everything go and please men, but men don’t give us salvation. Jesus is the one who gives us salvation!!!

  26. 1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
    2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
    3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

    Growth in God is a process of learning and falling in love with the Word of God. The Bible is our guide to understand His expectations it also gives us life and correction when needed. The great this is one day we wake up and truly understand that the Lord is gracious to us. He is gracious in times of loving us and leading us to obedience. He is gracious because what we deserve is not what we receive.

  27. 17 Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.

    Before we had a relationship with God, we could do nothing but sin. We had no choice in the matter. Our motivation was to please ourselves. Even the good acts we performed had a selfish root: we did good things to feel better about ourselves, to lessen guilt, or to enhance our reputation with others. When we give our lives to God, He breaks the power that sin holds over our lives and frees us. We should now be motivated by love rather than guilt.

    Although God lives in the heart of every believer, it is up to each person how much control to allow Him to have. Jesus did not come to reform our flesh, but to crucify it; but the flesh does not want to die. The deep desire to please ourselves and compromise with the world does not die an easy death. When we cling to our rights, our opinions, and our agenda, we remain the lords of our own lives. When we lay our will on the altar before God and let go, we die to ourselves. It is only through the power of the Holy Ghost that we can live a life that honors God.

  28. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    This is to me the very best part of being chosen of God. He called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. We are no longer children of the world, when you are baptized within the water and the spirit of God, and you have taken the name of Jesus Christ, you are a special people to God.

    We are a chosen generation because we are possibly going to be the generation that will see God come back for his church. He is coming for a church that is holy and separated from the sinful world. He is looking for his bride to be adorned in righteousness and be sanctified by the blood that was shed on Calvary to dressed in white with pure hearts. We are going to be a people that didn’t have mercy but obtained mercy through Jesus.

    Because we were the group of people that were destined to die in sin and wickedness, Jesus loved us so much he presented a covenant of grace to us and it removed the sentence of death to give the promise of eternal life. And to sum it up, we should show forth praise to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The only way to do this is seeking first the kingdom of God. We are running out of time to get ourselves ready.
    I love the Kingdom!

  29. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    We obtained mercy and must show it others by reaching out to them no matter the lifestyle they live. Think of the alternative for an unsaved soul… I have been asked to pray for someone’s need that I didn’t know, just because I seemed spiritual to them I suppose, or perhaps they felt the Lord with me. I don’t know, but I did pray for their need. I offered to pray for a lady who sounded terribly sick and later she told my husband that it was so sweet that I would pray for her-she was back at work the next day! I said all this to say we are a peculiar people-ready to pray for others, ready to invite them to church and genuinely interested in their welfare. We must be church wherever we are.

  30. Separated because we have a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, but me just share his Love to others unbelievers and all . I receive your word today Jesus

For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king. Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you. For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

  31. 21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

    Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is a season for everything; a season for good and a season to suffer. And although we want to skip over and through and all around the suffering, its in those times that we are built and molded. In those times that we begin to truly appreciate the good!

    Regardless of your season, your Heavenly Father deserves all the praise. Follow Him as He leads the way to Victory!

  32. “So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    If we have received from God and have tasted that the Lord is gracious, then we have great reason and responsibility to receive the word in the enthusiastic way that babies receive their milk.

  33. 1 Peter 2:9-10 (msg)
    “But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you – from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”

    We are chosen by God to be His instruments. We are to do His work and speak out for Him. We are to tell others what He has done for us in our lives, and what He can do for them.

  34. I Peter 2:1-3 So clean house! Make a clean sweep of malice and pretense, envy and hurtful talk. You’ve had a taste of God. Now, like infants at the breast, drink deep of God’s pure kindness. Then you’ll grow up mature and whole in God.

    Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: Blessed is the man that trusts th in him.

  35. So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.
    1 Peter 2:1 NLT

    This chapter is a continuation of the one before. Peter is making a list of God’s actions and attributes and how we should respond in return. It goes as follows (taken from the NLT):

    1. Jesus has shown great mercy,
    * So live with great expectation (1:3).
    2. God is protecting you by His power,
    * So be truly glad, even though you must endure trials (1:5-7).
    3. God has provided for you the reward of salvation,
    * So love Him,
    * Trust Him (1:8-9).
    4. God withheld this born again salvation experience from others but prepared it for and announced it to you,
    * So prepare your minds for action,
    * Exercise self-control,
    * Hope in His salvation alone,
    * Live as obedient children of God,
    * Don’t go back to your old ways, and
    * Be holy in everything (1:10-16).
    5. God has no favorites. He judges and rewards according to what you do,
    * So live in reverent fear (1:17).
    6. God gave His blood as a ransom to save you,
    * So place your hope and faith in Him (1:18-21).
    7. God cleansed you from your sins,
    * So love others sincerely and deeply (1:22).
    8. God has begotten you again to a life that will last forever,
    * So get rid of all evil behavior,
    * Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and unkind speech, and
    * Crave the pure spiritual milk of His Word (1:23-2:2).
    9. God has offered you kindness,
    * So cry out for nourishment and grow (2:2-3).
    10. God is building you into His spiritual temple,
    * So offer spiritual sacrifices that please Him,
    * Obey His Word (2:5-8).
    11. God has chosen you as His own possession,
    * So show others the goodness of God (2:9).
    12. God has called you out of darkness and given you light, identity, and mercy,
    * So keep away from worldly desires that war against your souls,
    * Be careful to live honorably before all, and
    * Submit to all human authority (2:9-15).
    13. God has made you free,
    * So act as His slaves and don’t use your freedom as a license to sin,
    * Respect everyone, even the king,
    * Love the body of Christ,
    * Fear God,
    * Submit to your masters, even when they are cruel,
    * Patiently endure unjust treatment, and
    * Do good, even if it means suffering (2:16-21).
    14. Jesus never sinned, never deceived, never sought revenge. He carried our sins in His body to the cross. He suffered many stripes on His back so that we could be healed,
    * So follow in His example and footsteps,
    * Consider yourself dead to sin,
    * Live for what is right,
    * Stop wandering and turn to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls (2:21-25).

    Peter is telling us that the price Jesus paid for our salvation demands from us an appropriate response. Though we can never equal the goodness and mercy we have been shown, we can and should react to it by giving God our all, living as He lived, loving others (as He has loved us), obeying His Word, and dedicating ourselves to righteousness and true holiness. This is our reasonable service.

  36. 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    Flipping houses these days is a big thing in our country. You buy an old run down house and you restore it’s beauty or totally make it new.

    I must evaluate my “spiritual house” today. Is what I’m building through my prayer, fasting, reading the word, church attendance, discipling myself and others building a spiritual house that will with stand the wiles of the enemy? Perhaps instead of tearing down the idols and the hidden things in my heart, I have just covered them up with activities, busyness of life, and never really evaluated how they effect the stability of my spiritual man. It’s time to take things all the way back to the beginning of repentance, and establish Godly practices that will sure up my spiritual man and my walk with God.

    Time is to short to just cover up what needs to be repaired and hope that we have enough God to make it to Heaven. We must ensure that we are true disciples, and leading others in the same path, offering acceptable behaviors and worship to the Lord.

  37. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    iSeek THE KING

    5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    This verse reminded me of the story of Shemei from Wednesday Nights lesson. Shemei was given by the “King” a place to build a house and that he could not leave that house or he would die. He left to SEEK 2 runaway servants and he lost everything.

    Applying that principal to verse 5 reveals the LOVE that GOD has for us.

    The KING (JESUS) has given us a house (LIFE) to build on forever. To never leave or offer worship to worldly idols, but to obey the good covenant that HE made with us to LIVE in the Kingdom forever.

    Keep building your house, to offer spiritual sacrifices to purchase the field of treasure.

  38. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    Do you know who you belong to?

    A museum may be filled with many ordinary things such as hats, canes, shoes, and so forth. But they may be significant because they once belonged to someone famous or important to history.

    God takes ordinary people, like you and me, and because He works in us, we are special, set apart, and holy. He makes royalty out of us!

  39. “So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.”
    ‭‭

    Get rid of all evil behavior

  40. 13 For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority—whether the king as head of state, 14 or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.

    Yes, respect those in authority. Today’s society seems to have forgotten respect. The youth of today, are lacking in respect. No respect for school instructors, police, the President, their elders, etc. Respect starts in the home, and must be taught by parents.

  41. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    We are to be set apart from this world! If people call us weird, crazy, or ‘too holy,’ that’s fine! God expects us to be different and standout in crowds. We are the light in the darkness of this world.

  42. I Love To Worship The Lord
    (vs-9)
    In The Living Bible Paraphrased
    Your are a chosen people you are a priests of the King you are holy and pure you are Gods very own- all of this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness in to the wonderful light.
    Wow the last part of this verse is what witnessing is all about. Being a example of when your are witnessing to others. During the years i have witnessed to many people on out-reach at work in restaurants walking and the list go on. showing to others when you are talking to them about the Lord and church.
    Talking and showing others how God called you out of darkness into his wonder light is very important. Using it to work into your talking and reaching out is very effective in winning souls. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!

  43. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
    1 Peter 2:21‭-‬23 NIV

    We will suffer as christians because we are not like anyother. We don’t live a life of this world we seek something higher. We believe in someone higher and this is our purpose. To stand for the one who will stand for us. We will be called names and we will be ridiculed for the way we believe. But no worries we have the greatest come back of all time. Greater is he who is in me them he who is in the world.

  44. For the Lord’s sake, submit to all human authority—whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right. Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.
    1 Peter 2:13‭-‬14‭, ‬17 NLT
    Peter’s teaching to submit to all human authority is consistent with Paul’s teaching in Romans 13: 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
    Peter adds that we are to do it for the Lord’s sake because it shows we are submitted to God. Yet, the Apostles give us one exception when we are not to submit and that is when man’s laws go against God’s law.
    And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
    Acts 5:27‭-‬29 KJV

  45. “But you are God’s chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things he has done. The Scriptures say,”(1 Peter‬ ‭2:9 CEV )

    We are not mistakes but we are chosen by God and we are his very own possession that he dearly loves. We are called to be children of God that have power and authority and are a holy nation. God himself delivered us from our darkness in our sins that lead us to death but his mercy and grace is what brought us to his marvelous light. We are a walking testimony where we tell the wonderful things that God himself has done in ourlives to the world.

  46. 13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

    On earth as it is in heaven…

    Heaven is going to be full of love, and more importantly full of Jesus. Unfortunately many people today use the freedom that they think that they have to act as hellians, as if they were still of the world. If we follow Christ, we have o be more Kingdom minded, as we looks to where our help comes from. Jesus tells us that if we love him, we will obey his commands, so if we refuse to obey someone who Jesus set into rule over us,

  47. But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
    1 Peter 2:9 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/1pe.2.9.NLT

    To be chosen of God…I don’t deserve Your grace and mercy, Lord. You pulled me out of the pit. You pulled me out of the darkness. I praise Your name!

  48. We must stay away from the things that are ungodly. The things of this world can bring you down quickly. God gives us strength for us to press through the things in our life that are designed to keep us down. We are somebody in Jesus.

  49. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
    10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    We are so many things. Blessed and Highly Favored! We should sing His praises for he has brought our life’s out of our dark times.

  50. “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:23‬ ‭NIV

    Thinking back to James 3 and our inability to tame our tongue, maybe we use that as an excuse rather than trying to do so. When God was being insulted he held his tongue, saying nothing, and showed long-suffering while being persecuted. While I’m sure he had a lot to say at any given moment through all of that he chose to allow the father to place judgment on those that came against him. Let’s take a lesson from God and learn to walk away from a battle that isn’t necessarily ours and allow him to handle things as he sees fit.
