Acts 22

Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

(And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:

20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.

27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

29 Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.

30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

  1. v15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

After Saul’s Damascus road experience, God spoke to Ananias that Saul would be a chosen vessel.
“We the Church are His chosen vessel ”
A person may possess great wealth and obtain the services of the finest lawyers, but a witness can either strengthen or weaken a case. A personal, empowered witness is the most effective tool in winning the lost.
Jesus did not give His disciples a long list of rules and customs that would be difficult to remember.
Jesus told His disciples that they should preach repentance and remission of sin in His name beginning at Jerusalem.
There is power in personal witnessing and testimony.
The early church gladly fulfilled their role in evangelism to their generation.
As we see that empowering witnessing caused convictions to grip the hearts of the people who heard Peter preach.
    Acts 2:37

The same Spirit that empowered them to be effective witnesses enables us to br powerful channels and outlets if blessing to proclaim to our world that Jesus is alive and still saves us from sin…
Lord help me not to fail to reach our world for You.

  2. Acts 22

Paul gives an example of sharing your testimony. He shared his experience of his road to Damascus. And we can also see that not everyone will receive it. But that didn’t stop Paul. He has a mission from God to share what he has seen and heard with all men. And each one of us has the same mission. Go Let Jesus out and Tell your testimony.

“For you will be His witness to all men testifying of what you have seen and heard.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  3. 5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

Your testimony could save your life. Paul opened his mouth and began to speak on their level in their language and got their attention. Sometimes thats all it takes we gotta get on folks level and share our testimony and someones life will be changed whether it be ours or whether it be the other persons.

  4. 22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

Even though he gave his testimony to show how someone as cruel and evil can be saved through the power of God. He explained what happened on the road to Damascus and the people did not want to show him any favor. But overall when you are chosen by God and you have done his will, then whatever happens , life or death, you will know that soon you will be in the glory of the Lord. Paul had already shown that his mind was set when he went to Jerusalem.

We today have to show compassion on those that God has called. We have to not become judgement against them because they are not like us. We have to be compassionate because we may not know where God has brought them from. Until we have walked in their shoes, we can not throw any stones. I find that when God is first and we live in his will and not ours, we can be an example for those that need to be saved. As long as we continue to preach the gospel we will see God work in ways that we could not. That is how we give Jesus in all that we do.

  5. Wow what a testimony!!!!! 2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
As always Paul uses his knowledge to get them to listen for he spoke in the Hebrew tongue. He makes his testimony clear and concise. No running around the bush at all, he kept it to the main details but letting them know that he was a persecutor of the Christians but Jesus changed it ALL!!!! I am so glad that one day JESUS walked right into the Scholfield Baracks HAWAII and changed it all for me!!! At the end, again Paul uses his knowledge to get out of a bind (big bind) by stating a fact that he is a born free Roman. I can only imagine the captains face for he already messed up by binding Paul. As many way back then Roman citizens were considered a race above the Jews. That’s why some, like the captain, paid their way to this citizenship. Race inequality has been around for years but I am so proud of our church because we are all the same and love each other. I was even told by a Hispanic first comer that our church is the closest thing to heaven he has ever seen for that’s how heaven will be everyone praising God in one accord!!!! May the Lord Bless my church family today and always!!! Hallelujah!!

  6. Thank you Jesus for today – it’s all about him first is key .

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.
    2 Timothy 1:7‭-‬8

  7. Verses 6-10 AMP “But as I was on my way, approaching Damascus about noontime, a great blaze of light suddenly flashed from heaven and shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ And I replied, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’ Now those who were with me [c]saw the light, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me. And I asked, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord answered me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that is appointed and destined for you to do.’ These verses made me wonder, why didn’t those who were with Paul understand the voice of the One who was speaking? Was it their fear, was it their spirit or was it their doubt??? We cannot allow/afford to see the light; but, not understand the voice of our Master. Sometimes we let our own pride, our own wants or desires to take over. This is when our fearless empowerment must take hold of what God desires for us to do for Him and not let other petty things get in the way.

Joshua 1:9 ERV says “Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” So let us LIVE-GIVE JESUS fearlessly!

  8. 27. Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

    28. And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

With the great sum of His life, Jesus obtained our freedom so that we wouldn’t have to pay that sum, but that we could be born into His Kingdom.

  9. Acts 22:14-15 [ amp] And he said , The God of our forefathers you to come progressively to know His will [ to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearing, and to become better and more intimately acquainted with His will] , and see the Righreous One [ Jesus Christ , the Messiah),and hear a voice from His [ own] mouth and a message from His [ own] mouth and a message from His
    [ own] lips.
[ 15] For you will be His witness unto all men ofeverthing that you have seen and heard.
Thank you God for choosing me to do your will and to be a witness to this world of what I have seen and heard.
    Jesus is coming soon!

  10. 2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)
3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

Paul was in the exact position at the exact place at the exact time that he needed to be. despite the warnings of other people telling him he needed to leave Paul knew he was where God wanted him to be. Our circumstances are not always a reflection on whether or not we’re the right area or not, God is the only one who could tell us to stay or to go, if Paul had listened to his friends and fled for fear of persecution then he would not have been able to be in this exact place telling these people his testimony. The more we trust God the more were able to discern every place that we’re at and every position and how to best respond. This whole journey is about drawing closer to God and helping people see the message of Christ.

  11. 6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

  12. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Don’t let anything or anyone stop you from being a witness to how great our God is.

  13. Acts 22:18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

V.14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Keep moving and keep sharing the gospel in Jesus Name!
    Do His will

  14. Paul was totally in the will of God this day. He was prayed up and ready and filled with HolyGhost!

  15. The crowd listened until Paul said that word. Then they all began to shout, “Away with such a fellow! He isn’t fit to live!” They yelled, threw off their coats, and tossed handfuls of dust into the air.
Acts of the Apostles 22:22‭-‬23 NLT

Not everyone will accept or appreciate our testimony or the message God has put on our hearts. We need to understand that that’s ok. Our job is to be the vessel. Let God take care of the rest. Hallelujah! Some times I think we overcomplicate what Gods called us to do out of fear… God, today I pray a spirit of fearlessness over your church that we would go boldly without our flesh or reservations in the way!! In Jesus name!!

  16. 11“I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions.

At times, we can be blinded by things of this world. We allow materialistic things, money, shows, games to blind us from Jesus. We have to let the Word open our eyes to have a relationship with God. Keep our eyes open towards God, and everything else will turn out just fine.

  17. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
Act 22:3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

Paul was giving his testimony. He was like, “Hey y’all, I was just like you.” He let them know his pedigree and let them know he use to kill folks who called upon the name of Jesus. He let them know how zealous he was of the law. He tried to relate to them in their native tongue, and he tried to connect with them. He let them know he was well versed, and he let them know that concerning the law he had been perfect. He let them know that he was a Jew of the Jews, and Hebrew of all Hebrews, he was kosher, he was blameless…

So why do I say all this, well for the simple fact that you can’t win people just because you were once like them. This mob of Jews did not care about Paul’s past Jewish achievements, they only wanted to end his future. The best thing we can do is just preach the Word and take the consequences

  18. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
    Revelation 12:11 KJV
I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
    Psalms 119:46 KJV
Paul told his testimony and how God delivered him and saved him tell your testimony some Will listening and some won’t Paul did care the price he had to pay he told his testimony I believe he did it with boldness he was not ashame he wants to let them know that if God can save a man that persecuted Christians he can save you it’s doesn’t matter what did in the past he’s a forgiving God that what I believe Paul was trying to get them to see .
Tell you testimony and don’t be ashamed to tell it you never know who’s hearts you will touch or life you might save

  19. Acts 22

    Acts 22:14-16 The Message (MSG)

14-16 “Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has handpicked you to be briefed on his plan of action. You’ve actually seen the Righteous Innocent and heard him speak. You are to be a key witness to everyone you meet of what you’ve seen and heard. So what are you waiting for? Get up and get yourself baptized, scrubbed clean of those sins and personally acquainted with God.’

Paul was a determined individual…..he had out all his energy in persecution of Christians. God saw deeper than man could see and turned his life completely around. The people had no idea the testimony of Paul that he had been just like them.
Share your testimony. People make their own opinions and think we the saints of God have no idea what they are dealing with . The people were shocked Paul talked their language . Thus he unfolded his testimony. Oh what a testimony it was just as some of ours is. Everyone has a testimony use it for the Kingdom of God. You can’t judge a book by its cover. And the world needs to know what God has done in our life.

  20. “And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:18, 21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If creation has reveled His majesty. Why should I keep silent? We are the church. We are one. We are bold. We are anointed. We are chosen for such a time as this. As this pandemic is here, He brings peace to the restless heart. He is the GOD of our cities. He is the KING of kings and hope to the lost! Continue to reach for the lost, bring in the harvest.

  21. The cost

28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born. JKV

28 The captain was impressed. “I paid a huge sum for my citizenship. How much did it cost you?” “Nothing,” said Paul. “It cost me nothing. I was free from the day of my birth.” MSG

Consider Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? How do we count the cost in advance when we don’t know what the cost will be in advance? We can expect the cost to be total. All possessions given up, all relationships given up, all of life given up. That’s the expectation that Jesus calls for.

We, as children of God are all in, or we are not. Some people think the Bible has too many rules. I wish they could see that God’s commands are for our good; they allow us to live in peace with one another. Obedience is simply the “cost” of being part of God’s family.

  22. Then Paul said, “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, and I was brought up and educated here in Jerusalem under Gamaliel. As his student, I was carefully trained in our Jewish laws and customs. I became very zealous to honor God in everything I did, just like all of you today. And I persecuted the followers of the Way, hounding some to death, arresting both men and women and throwing them in prison. The high priest and the whole council of elders can testify that this is so. For I received letters from them to our Jewish brothers in Damascus, authorizing me to bring the followers of the Way from there to Jerusalem, in chains, to be punished. “As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me. I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ “‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked. “And the voice replied, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, the one you are persecuting.’ The people with me saw the light but didn’t understand the voice speaking to me.
Acts of the Apostles 22:3‭-‬9 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.22.3-9.NLT

All these things happen with in a blink of an eye so we should always have a pasion.

  23. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

And just like that, a life is changed; just like that, a soul is saved. People are desperate for truth in these times and we have the greatest opportunity to feed them Biblical Truth. Be sensitive, be willing, and be ready to speak truth.

  24. Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight.

  25. 6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

We all come to that end of the road Where you must make a decision with or without.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  26. This is apostle Paul’s testimony which inflamed those that heard him. Yet being a Christian God has a plan for him to proceed as each one of us have each day. He was protected from being flogged by stating that he was a Roman from birth .He is also born by the water and the Spirit and was a child of God as we are.

  27. Paul shared the story of his way to Damascus, and it either moved people or not. Paul is the perfect example of a testimony, where you tell your story of faith and tribulations.

  28. After Paul got beaten they put him in Chan’s
I learned that you should not beat the people of God

  29. So in Acts Chapter 22 it’s talking about Fearless and in verses 13-16 it’s talking how Brother Saul looked upon him at the same hour then Jesus the God of our Fathers said Thou his will of shouldest and then he said shouldest the voice of my mouth then for thou witness he was carried out now heard or seen then be arise and be baptized in the name of Jesus and wash away your bad sins

  30. In this chapter it continues yesterday’s chapter. Paul begins to talk to the people in his Hebrew language and he starts to tell them about his transformation of turning good. After Paul was done telling the story, the people hit more mad than before. The guards took him to the castle and beat him a little bit. The Paul went to another set of people to examine him. Paul told them that he was a Roman so the people let him go, because they did not want to deal with the Romans later. We can apply this chapter to our lives by not letting people get to us when they say something mean, or don’t believe of what we believe in. Paul is an amazing example he still was trying to tell the people of how to be saved, after they were beating him and being mean to him. We all can follow in Paul’s footsteps and be a good examples to others that need to be saved!!!! GO PREACH THE GOSPEL POFW!!!😁😁😁

  31. When Paul talked to the people they were calm and didn’t say anything. The captain didn’t want to deal with him because he was a Roman. I learned that God can bring you out.

  32. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

    1. Know His Will
    2. See Him as “Just One” 😉
    3. Hear His Voice
    4. Be His Witness

What a great responsibility we have as “The Chosen of God” To know Him, See Him, Hear Him, and Be witnesses of Him. I am greatly reminded this morning of how much my life is not mine but God’s. Everything I know, see, and hear should be a reflection of Him and what He desire for me to do because all of these things will effect what I do in life. I also understand that what I do will be what others see and that will either make me a witness of Him or will tell others that I do not know Him at all. So, my prayer today is for God to transform me and hide me so deeply inside of Him that when others see me they see Him. My commitment to Him is that I will do all I can to know Him more, See Him in everything, Hear Him in every moment, and be a witness of Him in all I do and say!

  33. 30 On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

God know how to bring you out of every situation. Don’t ever think your situation is too much for God to handle. There is nothing to hard for my God. The enemy would like you to believe that you’re in too deep to be saved. I want to encourage you, that now is a good time to hand it over to Jesus and allow him to bring you out. When he brings you out, he will give you the strength to deal with it the next time it comes back around, so that you do not fall into that temptation again.

  34. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Our testimony of how God brought us to this truth is powerful. It can’t be taken from us, rather we should use it to witness to others coupled with his word and teach the new birth. As we live in front of others we must be ready to give them our hope through our testimony and his word. Live Give Jesus

  35. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    PREJUDICE REVEALED

20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.
22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

This passage has troubled me for years, but I believe I finally see the point or deep rooted sin behind it. These crazy people were not enraged at the murder of Stephen nor Pauls support and involvement in it. But they were deeply enraged and crazy about the fact that Paul was sent to preach to the Gentiles. This again reveals how crazy and ignorant it is to be racist or prejudice based on individuals ethnicity or nationality.

PREJUDICE – 1. injury or damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard of one’s rights
especially : detriment to one’s legal rights or claims
2a(1) : preconceived judgment or opinion
    (2) : an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge
b : an instance of such judgment or opinion
c : an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics

These people were so PREJUDICE that they refused to hear what the apostle had to say about what GOD had to say about the Gentiles. This attitude and action do not make sense to me. I can relate to High School grudges and brawl fights but we always left it there. It was more of a sport and bragging right. But to be so PREJUDICE and RACIST that you become enraged over the mention of a group of people is CRAZY SIN.

PREJUDICE REVEALED is possible in the church. Especially in a situation such as we have now. The meaning of PREJUDICE is “a preconceived judgement or opinion without just grounds and before sufficient knowledge. This could easily show up if an individual does not feel safe or ready to re-engage in society. Work, travel, shopping, eating out, church attendance, etc. and the individual becomes critical and even enraged over those that are ready to re-engage social activities with respect for and in alignment with the guidelines provided. The charge would go in both directions. To diffuse PREJUDICE we live and operate with RESPECT and the LOVE of GOD which is patient, kind, long-suffering, gentle, meek, temperate, etc.

My prayer is that at The POFW we resist and reject all forms of PREJUDICE in the Church. If you could find a person that JESUS did not die for, then we may have a discussion, oh yeah satan is the only name or reference that I can think of.

Lets guard against this deadly spirit and attitude at The POFW. Loving GOD, Loving People will keep us focused on our MISSION.

  36. ‘The soldiers who were about to interrogate Paul quickly withdrew when they heard he was a Roman citizen, and the commander was frightened because he had ordered him bound and whipped.’ Acts of the Apostles 22:29

Something that can seem unimportant or useless information can be the exact thing God can use for a miracle. If Paul wasn’t a Roman citizen He would have never made it to the High council, he would have never been able to share his testimony to the numerous guards, kings, and priests.

We can feel at times that there is nothing special or “God Chosen” in our lives, but don’t limit The Creator! He can take the simple and make it magnificent. He can take the broken and mold it into the Mighty. He can take something you had no control over, your birth and make it the greatest opportunity to grow the Kingdom!

  37. 3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

Everyone in life as some point is given a testimony, it may not be as rough as Paul’s testimony but we all have them. And we are given the freedom to go out and share our testimony and what god has done for us and where he has brought us from, and we should never be afraid to tell it because we could just be the push that a sinner needs to come back to the lord.

  38. 28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

Jesus paid the price so we didn’t have to!

  39. 22:14 and he said: the God of our fathers has chosen thee
That thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One
And shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

    It’s not about you anymore!!!!

Now, get ready for I have a plan , and you will be my servant.
No longer your way, no longer your assumptions
No longer your knowledge about me.
But now, YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO KNOW, who
I am. You have read about me, but now you are goi g to get to k ow ME.
👉A RELATION SHIP, yes. something you were not aware off. Something you did not contemplate……

    Just like brother Smith says:
“ I’m telling you, ↘️God can do anything!!!!.

  40. Act 22:10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
Act 22:11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
Act 22:12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
Act 22:13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
Act 22:14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
Act 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

Notice in Verse 13 – Ananias was sent to enlighten Saul as to what to do to receive his sight and the purpose of his “blinding” on the road to Damacus. He called Saul “Brother” before he was even converted.

I believe this is an approach that we should consider. As I have said before, I believe there are many people that have a relationship with God, and God is leading them to go deeper to truth and is going to place Apostolic, Holy Ghost Filled, Fire burning hot, POFW people in their path to continue to lead them to the fullness of truth. However, although we know that new birth is being filled with the Holy Ghost and being baptized in His name, we can’t discount the relationship they already have and treat them like total new babies, because they are not going to be receptive to that. Although we realize that they are just born into the Kingdom of God, we must show them the respect as Anainas did here with Paul – call them your brother – treat them as though they have the best relationship with God that anyone could ever have.

In actuality there are some good, faithful, consistent people that do have a more steady relationship with God with than some of our leaders. They have learned the value of studying the word of God and spending time with God in prayer, thus the reason He is taking them deeper in Him.

  41. “And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:4-5, 19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The only way Paul could have stood before the crowd and speak his testimony with boldness was because God made him an overcomer. Revelation 12:11 says “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony …”.

We must not let our testimony go unspoken, no matter how filthy we used to be. We are blood bought and have been made more than conquerors. When God poured out His Spirit upon us and we repented and were baptized in His name, He wiped our slate clean. He made us overcomers to where we don’t have shame for what we’ve done in our past and can rejoice in Him for the grace and mercy He gives us daily.

I thank God for making us overcomers! I pray we walk in authority, allowing our testimony to be a witness to others that Jesus suffered for ALL.

While reading this chapter I started singing Overcomer by Eddie James.
    Overcomer, I’m an overcomer
By the Blood of the Lamb
And by the word of my testimony

    He saved me
    He rescued me
    He deliverd me
    And He set me free
    Ever since have been changed
I have never been the same
And I can lift my hands and say
    Thank you for Your grace

    Testimony, I have a testimony
Testimony, This is the word of my testimony

    Overcomer, more than a conquerer
I’m a winner, the joy of the Lord is my strength
I have dominion, and I walk in authority
I’ve been, washed in the blood
    I’m kept by His love
    I’m filled with His spirit
And by His stripes, I’m healed, I’m free
Yes! Jesus gave me the victory

    Overcomer!

  42. Acts 22:15, “For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.”

“For Thou Shalt Be His Witness”
When witnessing to others about Jesus, we don’t need some long, drawn out speech. All we have to do is tell others about the things which we have seen and heard. All we have to do is share our testimony of how JESUS Saved Us, of how HE touched our hearts, opened our eyes, changed our lives.

“GO” tell others about JESUS and how they can be Saved too!
    ‘LIVE JESUS – GIVE JESUS

  43. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

God can take away your enemies and turn them around for his glory.

  44. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

  45. Hechos 22

  46. 3. I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. 4. And I persecuted this way unto the death , binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 5. As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of t the elders : from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. 6. And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

  47. ““As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me. “I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ “And the Lord told me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told everything you are to do.’ “I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭22:6-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The brightness of that light made Paul blind. In persecuting Jesus he was spiritually blind, and then he was also physically blind – and had to be humbly led by the hand into the city of Damascus.

  48. Acts 22:14 And he said the God of our fathers has chosen thee that thou shouldest know his his will, and see that Just One and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

When Paul was Saul he persecuted many who believed in Jesus. He was chosen by God to overcome his past, as he was saved thru the blood of Christ. Those that knew who Paul used to be, must have seen how he changed. God can use any of us for examples of how we have changed once we have been saved. We should not be judged from our past as our sins have been washed away. Thank you Jesus for your love!

  49. 6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

Sometimes I’m sure some of us would hope and pray that it would be this easy. Getting called out by the Almighty and put in your place, being told, you’ve done wrong and need to turn around. Sad part of it is that it may not be an audible clear voice of God, but we are given this direction in our life, but we take it for granted. Our Pastor is that loud and audible voice of correction. There are people longing for direction and someone to lay down the law and point them in a clear path, but they are lost without a voice. We are a blessed people to be covered and taken care of by a great man of God.

10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

  50. 1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.
2 (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,) 3 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. 4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

Paul shared his testimony and honestly he could have argued the law with anyone in the crowd. But instead, Paul shared his story of transformation with a vicious mob of people. Paul a murderer of Christians transformed into a preacher of the Gospel……how amazing!! Each of us has a story to tell. All of us have been rescued from a life of sin and disobedience, set free to follow Jesus. We don’t need to be well educated theologians to tell others about Jesus. God has given each of us a story of transformation and the power of the Gospel. Who are we sharing our stories with? Your story is more powerful thank you think.

  51. 25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.

27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

29 Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.

Sometimes even in the natural, it matters who you know or what you are. Paul was a Roman citizen.

  52. “He came and stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight.’ And that very moment I could see him! “Then he told me, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak. For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard. What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭22:13-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When God speaks act on it. The Lord has chosen us to be His disciples to go out to every nation speaking His truth. We are the Lord witnesses telling everyone what we have seen and heard and when he speaks we shall do His will in Jesus name.

  53. This chapter makes me think about a a country song we always listened to growing up. It talks about people that have bad habits and lifestyles that aren’t ideal because of their upbringing but not to give up on them because there is always room for change.

    The chorus goes,
“Here’s to the strong, thanks to the brave don’t give up hope some people change.
Against all odds, against the grain love finds a way, some people change”

Saul was who he is because of the way he was raised, that didn’t make him a terrible person, it just made it more difficult for his eyes to be open. Once he saw the truth about who God was and what his followers were standing for it made that truth so much sweeter to him. We can all be taught and brought up a certain way but we all have to have our own come to Jesus meeting for our eyes to truly be opened like Saul’s were.

  54. Acts 22:11 – 15 ESV
And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.
“And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And at that very hour I received my sight and saw him. And he said, The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his mouth; for you will be a witness for him to everyone of what you have seen and heard.

God guided Paul on the road to Demascus so that he could share his testimony among those that could have used his past against him. We must seek out those that are lost and need Jesus, there will be those that will reject us but we must still press on!

  55. I learned that Paul used to a mean person to God people. One day God spoke to him and Paul become a good person.

    -Jacob’s. Hernandez

  56. 6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

We were all on the wrong road in our lives at one time, we might not have been persecuting Christians like Saul, but Jesus called us to the right path, no matter what we had done. Our testimonies are the best things people that are lost could hear, it is always awesome what God has done in the life of someone that was lost, but now is found. Thank you Jesus for calling us to you, and let us find the people that are hungry for you.

  57. “Then he told me, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak. For you are to be his witness, telling everyone what you have seen and heard.
    Acts 22:14‭-‬15 NLT

Lord will always let the man of God know what His plans are for you. We must constantly be praying for him and be prepared to here His voice.

  58. 1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

Pauls testimony is a great one because he already believed. His eyes just hadn’t been open yet. This testimony is one of my favorites because I think we all go through a time where we believe a certain way and are blinded by our own stubbornness and pride to believe any other way. Literally Paul half to have his eyesn reopened to see that Jesus was in fact God. Just like Paul we are stuck in a one sided way of thinking. We believe that the things of the world are what matter most. We are blinded by this way of thinking. And like Paul we can all, well most of us, can confirm that once we were blind now we can see.

  59. 10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

As the Lord deals with us, He simple wants the best for us. He wants us to recognize Him as Savior. All that He is doing is bringing us closer to Him, because He wants us to profess and promote his gospel yo the world and to Make Disciples.

  60. “And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:6-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The brightness of that light made Paul blind. In persecuting Jesus he was spiritually blind, and then he was also physically blind. He had to be humbly led by the hand into the city of Damascus.
There are so many people in this world that are in persecution of something better, different and they haven’t had a encounter with God yet. And this is were we need to lead them by the hand to the Lord.
Every person we encounter on our daily day, we must ask Jesus to lead us to those who need a leading hand to encounter Jesus.

  61. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

God spoke to Paul, God chose Paul to be saved and to spread his word. Paul followed and listened the the commandments the Lord had given him. God created all of us to speak his word, spread his word, to show people that he is the one and only. We need to do as what God has told us to do. We have to spread his word everyday telling people our testimonies and how God saved us, showing them that God can do the same for them and that he is the one and only true God.

  62. 1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.
4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
5 As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

Paul’s transformation is hope to us today. He was the baddest of baddest BUT the Lord had plans for Paul. God had chosen him to become a great disciple and soul winner. Our own story is a reminder of how Great and Merciful God is to us. God has chosen us just like Paul to go out and tell the world about our testimony. To give hope to those who feel like theres no way out, through our testimony and what God has done for us, there’s salvation for all. God has no exemptions of people.

  63. ““After I returned to Jerusalem, I was praying in the Temple and fell into a trance. I saw a vision of Jesus saying to me, ‘Hurry! Leave Jerusalem, for the people here won’t accept your testimony about me.’ “‘But Lord,’ I argued, ‘they certainly know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you. And I was in complete agreement when your witness Stephen was killed. I stood by and kept the coats they took off when they stoned him.’ “But the Lord said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles!’ ” The crowd listened until Paul said that word. Then they all began to shout, “Away with such a fellow! He isn’t fit to live!” They yelled, threw off their coats, and tossed handfuls of dust into the air.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭22:17-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s interesting how God forgave Paul and gave him a second Chance but His believers in Jerusalem weren’t willing to do the same. As Christians, we must be willing to forgive like Jesus forgives us. If not, He will not forgive our sins and we’ll condemn ourselves to hell. Don’t let unforgiveness rob your salvation. Always forgive and release.

  64. 11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
13 Came unto me, and stood,

Paul had to be punished to see if he was obedient to Lord and if he was willing to do his will.

  65. And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

  66. ““Then he told me, ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and hear him speak.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭22:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, God has a will for our lives and we must follow it. If we are consistent on reading his Word and be committed to Prayer we will hear Him speak.

  67. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

This verse is such a powerful statement that we all must follow, for each one of us, that has repented, that has been baptized, and has received the Holy Ghost are each witnesses to Jesus Christ, and we are to proclaim to all men what we have seen in the Bible and in our own lives, and have heard as it is commanded to bare witness of our wonderful Savior and creator Lord Jesus Christ. I love the way a smile touches my heart when I bring up Jesus to people and they have heard of him and they smile, just the mention of his name changes people that we know not. It brightens their day, and I enjoy the fellowship that we share at that moment. I also have seen the other look, the look of hatred when they want nothing to do with his name, this saddens me, for I wish for them the peacefulness, and joy that fills my heart from having a relationship with Jesus. I pray for them and I hope that they will hear his name and that it may speak to their soul, so that they may seek him out. We will all bow to him and proclaim him King, I just hope that they do it before it’s too late. Hallelujah, praise Jesus.

  68. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
    Acts 22:15 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/act.22.15.KJV

A witness of what you have seen and heard. That is exactly what Paul was doing all through out and preaching unto everyone Jesus. There have been many things that we have seen and heard that God had done in the midst of us. It can be as simple as sharing your testimony like Paul was doing here and tell what God has done for you. In our prayers we should ask for the Lord to lead us to someone we could share our testimony with and tell what we have seen and heard.

  69. I was buried beneath my shame Who could carry that kind of weight? It was my tomb ‘Til I met You I was breathing but not alive All my failures I tried to hide It was my tomb ‘Til I met You and You called my name and I ran out of that grave.

    Acts 9:16 KJV
[16] For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

    Acts 22:16 KJV
[16] And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

  70. 22 And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

24 The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

Every time he preached the kept beating him but He kept doing what God said

  71. “And I replied, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’ Now those who were with me saw the light, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me. And I asked, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord answered me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that is appointed and destined for you to do.’”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:8-10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

It is always good to follow gods instructions regardless of if we don’t understand. God knows what’s best and knows the ending. Sometimes we hold ourselves back by being disobedient to what god is asking us to do.

  72. 25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman. 25 And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

God loves Paul even though he sinned against him. There are trials we have to go through and it’s up to us to seek him and live righteously for our sake.

  73. 7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

Such an amazing testimony. Can you imaginegoing through something like this and losing your sight by having Almighty God striking you down.

  74. Immaculate Interception

“And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Where were you when God intercepted you? Where were you headed when God burst through the clouds and changed your life forever? My road to demand is was in 2011 driving west on I-20 when God answered my prayer immediately when I asked him to show me where we were suppose to go from here. I went to an old shop some crazy preacher had turned into a church and found this equally crazy congregation. Then at the altar call I was crippled to my knees by the Holy Ghost as it fell on me and changed the trajectory of my life forever. It has been a journey since then but thank God for my road to Damascus.

  75. “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This scripture reminds me of sis Bobbie’s niece. I thank God that even when we have to do long distance Bible study, His word doesn’t return void. We are all rejoicing with Bobbie that her niece was baptized.

  76. Being fearless to show we are believers, Spirit Filled, Pentecost believing individuals changes things more than we even see. It is important that when faced with decisions that could define our lives to others and ourselves that we stay fearless to knowing that our testimony and our commitment to that can change the world for ourselves and for others. It can break barriers and tear down oppositions. For the Lord hasn’t given us the spirit of fear but of a strong mind…
