2 Samuel 4
1 And when Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
2 And Saul’s son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.
3 And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
4 And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
7 For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.
8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the Lord hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

2 Samuel 4:7-8
[7]They went into the house and found Ishbosheth sleeping on his bed. They struck and killed him and cut off his head. Then, taking his head with them, they fled across the Jordan Valley through the night.
[8]When they arrived at Hebron, they presented Ishbosheth’s head to David. “Look!” they exclaimed to the king. “Here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of your enemy Saul who tried to kill you. Today the lord has given my lord the king revenge on Saul and his entire family!”

9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
David knew that his kingship was from God, and as long as he kept reminding himself oh that he was safe. He knew that it wasn’t his own righteousness that God had chosen him but it was just because he had been redeemed by the Lord and chosen for a reason, David use that as his platform for making decisions based upon what God would have him to do and not necessarily something of his own will. Whenever we stand on the righteousness of God, our own decisions and judgments become less important and we lean on where God would have us to go and we raise that standard of what His righteous says we should do
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
It is amazing that the two brothers were able to sneak in and take the life of Ishbosheth as though they were doing the king a favor. Again some people will take things that only God should handle into their own hands and destroy their own futures. What Rechab and Baanah thought they were doing to avenge David only cost them their lives. When you assume that you are doing the right thing without checking with the higher authority, then you are taking your own destiny in your hands and it will usually end in disaster such as this situation. David took their lives from the earth because they acted on their own belief.
Can I tell you that God ordains every scenario, every situation, and every circumstance that we may encounter. But if we do things against the will of God we will surely end up in chaos or even death. I know that God will order the steps of those that will be obedient and love him. I find the more that I trust him the lore he takes care of my enemies and places me where he wants me. It’s the same with this world, we can not let the world pull us from the protection of God’s covering and work out of the will of God. We will surely die for our disobedience. We have to make sure that we stay under his will and not our will.

8. And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the Lord hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
12. And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
Can you imagine what went on in their minds in those moments between, ‘We did the king a big favor’ to ‘And now we’re going to die for it’?
Newton’s third law of motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. These guys got a reward, but it wasn’t the one they were expecting…they got a Newton’s Law reaction – death for death.
Don’t assume authority that you don’t have and take actions that could carry lethal reactions.

11Sam.:9 [ amp] And David answered Rechab and Baahah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerochite, As the Lord lives,Who redeemed my life out of all adversity.
Ps.I will life up my eyes to the hills [ around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zkon and Mount Moriah] From whence shall my help come?
[2] My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
The Lord is your keeper, and he will kept you from evil, He will keep your life going.
Rev.8:16] They shall hunger no more, Neither thrist any more; neither shall the sun smite them, nor any scorching heat.
He will guide you into springs of living waters of life. And wipe away every tear from your eyes.
David knew that he was standing on solid ground with God.
My help only comes from the Lord!
Our salvation belongs to the Lord and his will.

It is very important to know what kind of people surround you. Here there 2 men that thought they were doing David a favor, but they did not ask David if that would please him in the first place, they just went and did it without knowing David’s desires. In the same way, we must know what pleases our God. Do just go do things without consulting the KING. For if you do our King Jesus will judge you rightfully, just like these 2 men.

Its best to just try and please the Lord, David always went back to what was right in the sight of God. His response to the death of Sauls son was why would you do this to a righteous man in his own house. Though Saul was after David and envied David and wanted david dead. David wasn’t wanting to destroy everything was connected to Saul. David still sought after the righteous things of God. So no matter what situation we may face we can’t seek revenge or havoc on someone else. Let God take care of all that and forgive your neighbor forgive and move on.

Be careful when you think you were doing the will of God and don’t take matters into your own hands. Always pray and ask God for direction in all that you do.
“when someone told me, saying, ‘Look, Saul is dead,’ thinking to have brought good news, I arrested him and had him executed in Ziklag—the one who thought I would give him a reward for his news. How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous person in his own house on his bed? Therefore, shall I not now require his blood at your hand and remove you from the earth?””

They were killed because they took it upon themselves to get revenge. Don’t take matters into your own hands. It may cost you your life. “Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. I will repay”

iLove the Kingdom of Jesus Son of David
10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
Once again, people have assumed that Saul was David’s enemy. Saul was not David’s enemy, he was an adversary, but not an enemy and he was running from Saul and did not want to harm Saul because he knew he was (at one time) God’s anointed. In previous chapters, when David was in the land of the Philistines folks (including these two wicked men mentioned in this chapter) assumed David was backslid and would have actually have fought against Saul in battle. David proves over and over again through righteous judgement the true intent of his heart. David did not want Saul dead nor the sons of Saul dead. David was a man after God’s own heart.
Many people might assume our motives in life and may falsely accuse us but as long as we are people after God’s own heart we will always prove them wrong in the end.
So in 2 Samuel Chapter 4 verses 4-6 it’s talking about how Jonathan Sauls Son had a son and when the tidings came to Jonathan the nurse took him up and Fled then she made to flee then the sons of Rimmon came to the house of Ishboheth then they came into the house then they smoted him under the rib. HALLELUJAH AMEN!!!

In all things, seek the Lord. Even in hard times when you feel revenge is necessary, it belongs to the Lord. All we have to to is trust He will keep us and be faithful to Him.
David was a man after Gods heart. He followed his direction no matter what. David would not have directed for someone to be killed unless it was Gods direction. Revenge is not of God. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. These men were thinking carnal thoughts to gain favor with David.
David loved God . And though he fought and had many people killed he never intended for Saul nor Saul’s family to be harmed.
I’m sure David had some unanswered questions he would have posed to Saul but never had the opportunity yet even after Saul’s death he still held a respect for the anointed King. Respect goes beyond understanding. David’s heart was like God’s heart. I’m sure David Chad hopes that Saul’s intentions would have changed towards him yet they did not but David kept his heart right before God. This should be our sincere prayer that we keep our hearts pure before God no matter the situation. In Jesus name.
David replied to Rechab: and Banah his brother
The sons of Rimon the Beerothita and said to them:“ As the Lord liveth, who has redeemed my life from every adversity”

Not maybe one or two, but every adversity.
That tells me that no matter how it looks like, no matter how hard it seems, no matter how horrible it might look
No matter how long it might last, at the appointed time
The Lord always, always will help and intercede for His children. Just like David expressed here that He has done it for him.
God is a good father.

THE DANGERS OF DISTRACTION
4 And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
There are 2 illustrations of distractions in this passage.
1. In verse 4 the nurse for Jonathans son was distracted by the news of the death of Jonathan and her haste to flee. She dropped him and he was crippled. The nurse had 1 responsibility, the care of Jonathans son. When the fatal news arrived, the nurse was distracted and the child suffered.
Parents and caretakers of new souls, we must not be DISTRACTED by announcements. May JESUS help us to remain focused on the needs and cares at hand.
2. In verse 6 there is a unique statement in the MSG version of verse 6:
5-7 One day Baanah and Recab, the two sons of Rimmon, headed out for the house of Ish-Bosheth. They arrived at the hottest time of the day, just as he was taking his afternoon nap. They entered the house on a ruse, pretending official business. The maid guarding the bedroom had fallen asleep, so Recab and Baanah slipped by her and entered the room where Ish-Bosheth was asleep on his bed. They killed him and then cut off his head, carrying it off as a trophy.
The maid guarding the bedroom had fallen asleep.
The maid was distracted by slumber and was unable to warn her master of the pending peril. May JESUS help us to remain focused and committed to our responsibilities that we may be prepared to serve and guard those around us.

Verses 9- 12
We have to remind ourselves that we have to think before we act and especially think of the consequences.
“Finally they turned west and went to Hebron. They went in to see David and told him, “Your Majesty, here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of your enemy Saul who tried to kill you! The Lord has let you get even with Saul and his family.” David answered: I swear that only the Lord rescues me when I’m in trouble!”

David never appointed these men to take matters into their own hands. When you meddle in someone else’s business… beware you will get burned!
David recognizes where his help and victory comes from. It never came from men (flesh) ONLY from THE LORD GOD (His Spirit). HALLELUJAH!!!!! In your darkest night HE will be your protector, your shelter, HE fights my every battle❤️🙏
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.”

“Jonathan, the son of Saul, had a son named Mephibosheth. Both of Mephibosheth’s feet were hurt. He was five years old when the news that Saul and Jonathan had died came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and ran. But as she hurried to get away, he fell down. That’s how his feet were hurt.”

What in unfortunate story. Mephibosheth injuries were the result of his caregiver being in a hurry. We currently live in some busy times. Seems like everyone is wanting things to be done quickly. We have Fast food, microwave dinners, flash pass, tollways and the list could go on. But with all the busyness of life we must keep our focus on the main purpose of our existence. And that’s to keep Jesus first and make disciples. This scripture has caused me to stop and reflect on my life to search the areas that I maybe rushing through. Is there negligent in an area? Am I in position to help someone find there way to the Cross? In fact, sometimes our hastiness spiritually could end up doing the some damage to people spiritually. Newcomers to Christ all grow at different levels and timeframes. Rushing them to grow spiritually could end up in a tragedy. Handle everyone with care.

Psalm 31:7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy:for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
Psalm 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Where are you working for the kingdom of God and you pray for the will of God, And you think you heard from God better check it.

David moved when God said so. We should always follow God’s instructions

This wicked deed was returned to these 2 men. David had no quarrel nor opposition from Ishbosheth and didn’t ask for and didn’t need the man murdered. David needed his nation to be united and so he had to show the tribes of of Israel he was innocent. God always brought David through and He didn’t need the ‘help’ of these 2 men. They reaped what they sowed. We must let God fight our battles and allow him to lead and guide us in paths of righteousness. Pray for your enemy and let God decide what to do.
In this chapter……When Ish-Bosheth son of Saul heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he lost courage, and all Israel became alarmed.Now Saul’s son had two men who were leaders of raiding bands. One was named Baanah and the other Rekab; they were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite from the tribe of Benjamin Beeroth is considered part of Benjamin ,because the people of Beeroth fled to Gittaim and have resided there as foreigners to this day.
And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
Sojourers live until this Day
I learned that Banana and Rekha they went into the main part of the house to get some wheat then they stabbed him in the stomach then they went away .
4 And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
The actions of the nurse caused resulted in lifelong changes for Jonathan’s son. In her haste to find safety for him, she dropped him and he became lame. We must be careful that our actions does not cripple people around us spiritually.
We can recover from our actions, put someone else may not recover as easy, or recover at all. Judgement day would be so sad for the Lord to say, you recovered well from such and such, however, these people were effected by it and they now found salvation.
2 Samuel 4:9, “And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity.”
David had put his TRUST in the LORD. He knew that the LORD was his redeemer (the one who saved and rescued him). He knew that the LORD had redeemed (saved and rescued) him out of all adversity (trouble, distress, suffering, affliction, trial, etc…). And he definitely didn’t need the help of these two men. (“… for vain is the help of man. PS. 60:11b).
Put your TRUST in the LORD!!
1 And when Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
Why did Ishbosheth become feeble (lacking physical strength/ill) upon the news of Adner death, Why did the Isrealites become so troubled? The news of Abner death should of sadden the the people but not troubled them. It troubled the Israelites and Ishbosheth to illness because he was placed in position by man and not by God. He became ill because he had lost hope. He feared or new the end was near.
When we allow the will of God to guide us and establish our position within in kingdom–we will rise and fall as he sees fit. Never depend on the likes of a certain person to get anywhere in life–because once they are out—so are you.
“When they arrived at Hebron, they presented Ishbosheth’s head to David. “Look!” they exclaimed to the king. “Here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of your enemy Saul who tried to kill you. Today the Lord has given my lord the king revenge on Saul and his entire family!” But David said to Recab and Baanah, “The Lord, who saves me from all my enemies, is my witness.”

The beautiful song David composed at the death of Saul and Jonathan proved that though Saul set himself as an enemy of David, David did not regard him as an enemy.

I always recall this particular passage of the bible. If you know anything about me, you are aware my brain can go too fast, and can easily be distracted. Through this passage we can see the harm done when going to fast. Not taking the time to be prepared can be damaging.
Though everything around us, can be going crazy, stay steadfast on the Word of God. Allow Him to give you peace to strive at the pace of His Will!

The deeds of the wicked never go unseen, for god is all seeing and it is in his hands that we can leave our troubles. So many people today think they can do wrong and still live for god when it is god that is giving them chance after chance that figure out the right from the wrong and the holy from the unholy, and eventually god cuts them down. We should always know what is holy from the unholy and we should always have our minds and spirits right with god.

David could have well taken his adversary and taken his enemy out. Albeit, he didn’t. Yet the word of God is that David would be king over Gods people. A kingdom decided cannot stand. These men showed to be unfaithful to his leader and ended up killing the son of Saul who thought might have done something that David would have liked. Yet they showed they true colors if we could put it this way. David when presented the opportunity to kill his adversary, king saul, he chose to give it to the hands of the Lord. This displayed his faithfulness, commitment and integrity.
Now we see what these men would do to please someone yet not faithful to his leader. This could have come up again for David. Yet now it’s like God cleaned up the Kingdom that David may now rule over Gods people.
12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
The men thought they would get a reward or get told good job for helping kill the family of the man who was trying to kill David.
We could look at this and say what was so wrong with killing theses men the ones trying to kill you? What makes it wrong is taking matters into your own hands. The Bible says vengeance is mine saith the Lord.
David had the chance to kill Saul but said I can not touch the king.
What would happen if we took that approach to our lives. Instead of repaying some one with evil or with trouble because they brought evil or trouble to you say bless you and let God deal it it.
We would have peace of mind and joy.
9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
David’s answer to Rechab and Baanah, shows that he could trust in God to avenge him anytime, and that he will not encourage or need the crimes of men to help him. He make it clear to them, that the Lord will always, take care of him, no matter what the situation is in his life. This teaches us to trust in the Lord our God all the time. To never take vengeance with our hand, because we will die. The Lord will always, be our salvation.
What I learned from this Chapter is that two brothers did evil by killing Ishbosheth (Jonathan’s son) Which they presented to David his head and He was furious for rewarding evil men who killed Saul’s relative. And David sent the men to death. We shouldn’t ignore the anointing of The Lord knowing it’s beneficial to us In The Lord’s Eyes. Or God will put that Anointing to someone else who desires The Lord’s Kingdom.
2 Samuel 4
Rehab and Baanah, took it upon themselves to kill Ishbosheth Sauls son. They took David his head. They thought this would have David’s approval. David had a chance before to kill Saul but knew it was not God’s will. So Rehab and Baanah lost their lives. They never asked God if it was his will to kill Ishbosheth. They did their own thing and both lost their lives because of it. Trust in God, not your emotions!
4 And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
The story of Mephibosheth
It was customary that when a ruler was defeated that his family would be killed as well so that there would be no lineage of that ruler left to reclaim the throne.
“ One of Saul’s servants was questioned and told King David of the young man’s location. Mephibosheth was summoned to appear before the King. Though afraid, Mephibosheth came not knowing if he would be killed or what might happen to him. He was a cripple, had lost his heritage, and lived in a desolate place named Lo Debar. Translated, the name literally means “land of nothing”. Mephibosheth had been reduced to having nothing. ”
He was once destined to be King yet latter we will find that he is in a desolate place. In a few days we will find out the end of his story. Yet let us all remember that life brings change and change is hard but you are not forgotten by God. Someone trying to save your life may hurt you and cripple you in some way but take heart do not allow depression or opposition to take you to a desolate place. Go to God in all things.
v 6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
These deceitful workmen convinced themselves that they are in the right unaware of the ultimate consequences of their actions.
Regrettably,…not every person who ” labors” in and around the church has pure motives. Their labor does not build up the church, but it destroys people .
9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity.
When we’re in a difficult certain position and we need an answer to do what’s right, always remember to ask the Lord for he knows what’s best and right, all of our answers should always prove that we have faith and trust in the Lord. Just like when David answered Rechab and Baanah, he proved to them that no matter what he will always have faith and trust in the Lord, that he knows the Lord is always with him and helping him. I pray that we all go to the Lord no matter what and always show that you know he’s always with you and protecting you, for he is your one and only.
4 It so happened that Saul’s son, Jonathan, had a son who was maimed in both feet. When he was five years old, the report on Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and ran, but in her hurry to get away she fell, and the boy was maimed. His name was Mephibosheth.
We all have our responsibilities for his kingdom and we must make sure we follow through to them. Don’t let what this world or other distractions hold you back from doing his will with your full attention on him. A mistake can cost you and those around you to be hurt. We must always follow his order with full attention to succeed for his kingdom. Everyone and every job is important and we must make sure we give it our all at all times.
“When they arrived at Hebron, they presented Ishbosheth’s head to David. “Look!” they exclaimed to the king. “Here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of your enemy Saul who tried to kill you. Today the Lord has given my lord the king revenge on Saul and his entire family!”
So David ordered his young men to kill them, and they did. They cut off their hands and feet and hung their bodies beside the pool in Hebron. Then they took Ishbosheth’s head and buried it in Abner’s tomb in Hebron.”

They killed ishbosheth and showed David even though they kill with out David orders and kill them. We should not let revenge consume us and disobey commands because it’s a sin and sin leads to death. We shall not let revenge turn into disobeying but listen and obey and it’s okay to get mad but don’t let it consume us.
God’s Infinite Power
11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
You can’t just try to take God’s people and get away with it. God will take care of his own. Ignore what the naysayers say. God cause your blessings to overflow even the more so. His power is far above any other power.
The wicked will never prevail against God. In his abundant power his will always reign supreme over everything that is not holy. The bible says that every knee shall bow. That means there is no exception and everyone must yield to the power of the almighty God.

After Abner had died at Hebron, two of Ishbaal’s raiding band captain’s, sons of Rimmon a Benjaminite from Beeroth, Baanah and Rechab, killed Ishbaal. (Although Beeroth was supposed to be a Benjaminite town, the people of Beeroth had fled to Gittaim and are still resident aliens today.)
Saul’s son, Jonathon had a son, Meri-Baal, who was five years old when the news of their death arrived from Jezreel. His nurse took him and fled; and, in her haste, Meri-Baal fell and became lame, crippled in his feet.
Rechab and Baanah, the son’s of Rimmon the Beerothite, left Beeroth, arriving at Isbaal’s house in the heat of the day, while Ishbaal was taking his twelve o’clock nap. They broke into Ishbaal’s house, pretending to get wheat, but attacked him instead. They killed Ishbaal by knifing him in the stomach and then beheading him.
After they escaped, they took Ishbaal’s head and traveled through Arabah all night long bringing Ishbaal’s head to King David at Hebron, to relate to him what they had done.
After Rechab and his brother, Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, had bragged to David about what they had done, David told them about killing the one who had claimed to kill Saul when David was at Ziklag.
David told Rechab and Baanah that they were even more wicked, because they had killed a righteous man in his own bed in his own house, and David commanded some of his men to kill them, which they did, cutting off their hands and feet. They then hung their bodies beside the pool at Hebron. Ishbaal’s head, however, they took to bury in the tomb of Abner, also in Hebron.
Hallelujah!!

Any trouble we’ve had has no comparison to what God has kept us from, we have no idea what all could’ve been thrown our way because God loves us so much that He only gives us what we can handle, so instead of questioning Him why bad things happen, let’s thank Him for what He’s done for us.

When you feel like someone has done you wrong and you think you need to ‘get back at them’, you have to just trust in the Lord and he will guide you through your struggles.

They jumped the gun a little and where they thought it was a good idea and a just move, David thought different. These men took the lives of David’s enemy but didn’t ask first. David always asked the Lord before he did anything. And this is what these men should have done as well. Just because something seems like a good idea and it seems like it would benefit others, ask first. Pray about it, especially if it something big like decapitation of one’s enemy.

God will always be there for us when we need Him through the good and bad times. He will fight our battle’s, He will always be that for us!

12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
I don’t understand the reasoning throughout this chapter that we have just read. So many limbs and body parts dismembered. So much blood shed in this short chapter and yet I can’t make much sense of it. Two brothers thinking they were doing right by sneaking in and doing such terrible things. . . Was it justified or did they just think it was? How has life brought you though? Think before action.
8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the Lord hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
I believe David knew these men’s hearts had become evil. It was not just the lessons that weren’t learned all the times they were with him when David had several opportunities to kill Saul.
It was killing a defenseless bed stricken child. It wasn’t enough that they would kill him, but decapitate and bring his head in front of everyone to see.
“David answered Rekab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble, when someone told me, ‘Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and put him to death in Ziklag. That was the reward I gave him for his news! How much more—when wicked men have killed an innocent man in his own house and on his own bed—should I not now demand his blood from your hand and rid the earth of you!” So David gave an order to his men, and they killed them. They cut off their hands and feet and hung the bodies by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-Bosheth and buried it in Abner’s tomb at Hebron.”

This is the second time David orders the death of an individual. The important thing to remember here is these three men acted on their own accords, they were not given orders, there was no bounty on the heads they were after, they simply examined a situation and did what they believed was best for the scenario. It’s so important to understand that when faced with a dilemma, or any life altering decision, we MUST seek the council of the man of God in our life because unfortunately not doing so could ultimately be the death of us spiritually or physically.
Verses 5-7 MSG “One day Baanah and Recab, the two sons of Rimmon, headed out for the house of Ish-Bosheth. They arrived at the hottest time of the day, just as he was taking his afternoon nap. They entered the house on a ruse, pretending official business. The maid guarding the bedroom had fallen asleep, so Recab and Baanah slipped by her and entered the room where Ish-Bosheth was asleep on his bed. They killed him and then cut off his head, carrying it off as a trophy. They traveled all night long, taking the route through the Arabah Valley.” The high cost of being distracted and/or falling asleep at your post. The different versions explain it in different ways; but, the reality is that we cannot afford to be distracted by things that we are ourselves are allowing into our lives. We have to make the conscious decision every day to be alert and serve the Lord, not slacking; but, before Jesus first.

It can be very dangerous to take matters into our own hands. We have no idea the outcome of situations, but God does. I pray that we would continue to seek Him with diligence in all things. In Jesus name.

The nurse knew she need to do something to protect Mephibosheth. She jumped up and ran with him, but was she moving out of fear? Was she even ready? Her quick reaction may have been what was needed to protect him, but because she was not careful with it she injured him more. We have to be ready to move when God tells us. Ready to go. Ready to act. But we also need to move out of reverence and not fear/terror. When we move out of fear/terror we do things that are unwise and someone gets hurt. Possibly a new babe in Christ. We must move out of reverence and in such a way that we help and not cause people to limp for the rest of their spiritual life.
Someone once told me, ‘Saul is dead,’ thinking he was bringing me good news. But I seized him and killed him at Ziklag. That’s the reward I gave him for his news! How much more should I reward evil men who have killed an innocent man in his own house and on his own bed? Shouldn’t I hold you responsible for his blood and rid the earth of you?”

When trying to impress man, you can be so blinded for their approval that it doesn’t matter what innocent person you take down or run over. We can hurt and use people for our own benifit. What we really should be doing is trying to please God. His approval is all that should matter. God will place us where He needs us.
