Deuteronomy Chapter 34

Deuteronomy 34

1And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

2And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,

3And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.

4And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

6And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

7And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

10And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

11In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,

12And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

vs 10 If only it could be said of us that we knew the Lord and most importantly, he knew us.

5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

    ***NEW TESTIMENT SCRIPTURE COMPARISON***

(Jud 1:9) Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

    ***CONCLUSION***

Moses might have died in the land of Moab, BUT God…(someone say “BUT GOD”), didnt allow him to stay there. God sent an archangel named Michael to pick him up.

  3. 10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,
Moses had a relationship with God he knew God and God knew him. We should be looking for God to say I know him or her and not just us saying a I know God and God is saying you do? Do u know my thoughts? My plans? If you don’t spend time in his word and in prayer we will not know him.
What a great thing to be said about uou and God knew him. That’s what we should look for.

  4. OPERATING IN DELEGATED AUTHORITY

9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

The reoccurring theme throughout the Word of GOD is DELEGATED AUTHORITY. Repeatedly is this practice displayed. Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Jesus and Peter, Paul and Timothy just to name a few.

This is the ORDER that GOD established for establishing HIS Kingdom.

When Leaders submit to Biblical ORDER the Wisdom of GOD and the previous generation are transferred to them. There is a spirit of this world that resist this teaching by telling us that we do not need to the paths of our Elders. I say “The LORD rebuke Thee”.

Joshua possessed the favor of GOD and man as a result of DELEGATED AUTHORITY. This same principal applies to us if we will submit to our Spiritual Leaders and patiently wait for the DELEGATED AUTHORITY we also will be OPERATING in the FAVOR of GOD!

  5. 9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moses passed on authority, blessing and anointing to Joshua to instill him to lead the children of Israel. We have a rich heritage full of power and blessing. It is important that we pass it from one generation to the next.

  6. v10 NIV Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

Due to the faithfulness of servanthood Moses was allowed a “face to face” relationship with God.

Rev 22v4 NIV The throne of God and the Lamb will be in the city and his servants will serve him. They will see his face..

  7. Moses – the only known man who saw the Lord face to face – what a love relationship between the two. However, the laws and principles of the Lord are sure, and because of an act of disobedience on the part of Moses during a frustration season of life, he was not permitted to enter into the promised land that he had worked so hard to reach. The mercy of the Lord is shown that even in the judgement handed down, The Lord himself is responsible for the burial of Moses and it is only known to Him the place.

God will not and cannot violate His principles. This should be our example to get in the Word, live, eat and breathe the word so that we can keep His commandments that we can enter into the promises of the Lord and not be kept out because of our decisions of disobedience.

  8. Just thinking about Moses what a big responsability(burden)even though he gave God the excuse of him not being able to accomplish what God wanted him to do(not being able to speak righ) he went ahead and obey God no matter what.
Sometimes i(myself) tell God: but God I don’t think I can do that, and he provides the need,so now it’s up to me to continue with the task, command, plan.that’s when I have to made up my mind that I have to trust God,that he will be with me untill the end. Moses had to move in fear and at the same time trust God…..and he did.
I think Moses many times felt frustrated because of their behavior and stuburness, many times he could said:”God I just can not do it anymore”…

  9. Fountain of Youth
    Dt 34:7

Moses spent his relationship with God intimately “face to face” The Lord literally buried him. This intimacy is desired by God for each of his children, we may not be able to visibly see Him, but we do know that he lives within us with his Holy Spirit. Moses was 120 yrs old, granted others before him had lived longer, but the Scripture says that his eyes weren’t weak nor his strength gone. He did the same for the Israelites “For forty years you sustained them in the desert; they lacked nothing, their clothes did not wear out nor did their feet become swollen.” (Ne 9:21) NIV
And he wants to do it for us too. We like Moses have access to our maker and personal fountain of youth. What a Beautiful reality.
“but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”(Joh 4:14) NIV

  10. The Lord always gives direction and never leaves us wondering. Verse 9 in the CEV reads….”Before Moses died, he had placed his hands on Joshua, and the LORD had given Joshua wisdom. The Israelites paid attention to what Joshua said and obeyed the commands that the LORD had given Moses.” Thank you Lord for spiritual Leaders that you have placed your hands upon.

  11. v6 And he buried him in the land of Moab, over against Beth-pe-or : but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

Quote:” GOD buries his workmen, but carries on his work.”
No man can stop was GOD has began.
Mk. 9 : 2-4 Once again we meet with Moses
on the mountain talking to the LORD.
    Praise GOD!
v9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moses had laid his hand upon Joshua. This let’s us know this energy of transmission is real and verifiable
” Not by might nor by power but by my SPIRIT”. Obey the word of GOD with proper authority. There is power in obeying what GOD says, through our Moses ( our Pastor )
There’s a reverence an anointing power behind the touch that means so much through our Pastor, as it was with Moses.
Thank you JESUS! …… No man can stop what GOD has begun.
    iPray

  12. Here we see Moses last day on earth and God showing him the land he promosed to Abraham. Moses died a faithful Godlt man but as we can see God was raising up Joshua and had annointed him thru Moses. God always has a man to do his will and his work…

  13. 4 And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

How hard it must be to get so close to your purpose in life, to your goal, the promise land, and not be allowed to enter. How many should of, could of, will enter your ear? I shouldn’t had listened to the spies & their negative report, I should of stepped on faith and done God’s wishes from the start.

How many times I stand before God knowing I didn’t give it my all in all? I keep telling myself not this time, I am going to do my best and only my very best. When we come to behold HIM face to face, I pray I have given my 150%, my all in all to HIM.

    ***Old Testament Facts***

Moses died in Moab. Michael the arch angel fought satan over his body (Jude 1:9) and then buried him ” over against Bethpeor”

    ***New Testament Facts***

Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

    ***Conclusion***

Moses missed out on the natural physical” promise land” because of disobedience…but at least he repented in order to enter the spiritural eternal PROMISE LAND…

    (Can’t wait for iBlog Dinner)

  15. No one knew where he is buried unto this day. There has never been a prophet since Moses in Israel [unto this day also}. God knew how people are. If they had known by now there would be a shrine or church literally desecrating his tomb or burial sight. We would have another Saint to pray to in the Catholic church or worse Israel might have put his bones in the ark of the covenant.! The Bible says no man shall see His face and live. Only Moses was worthy of this honor. We should still seek Him For wisdom , direction , the fruits as well as the gifts of the Spirit! We no longer should look to the past. If We already have salvation and the gift with the evidence of tongues then we need to go forward and press in Higher !!!

  16. 4And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

Never forget the promises that God has given you.

  17. 7And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

I hope that reading this chapter helps us be able to better answer the question all Christians are asked at one time or another. If God is love then why did he let so and so die? Moses was 120 with no sickness with strength to lead the people, but God took him home out of a promise. A promise that Moses would not live to see the people scattered, a promise that he would not see Isreal turn to Whoredom, a promise, that Moses would never enter the promised land

  18. Vs. 10, ” And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.”

Exodus 33:11 says, ” And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend….”

What a fellowship and a relationship Moses had with God. We, too, can have a close fellowship and relationship with God through the Power of Prayer. In Rev. 3:20 Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

  19. 9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the chirldren of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Let’s take in what pastor preaches to us so that we may be filled with wisdom.

***Old Testament Example of Laying on of Hands***

9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

    ***New Testament Example***

2 Timothy 1: 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    ***Conclusion***

The laying on of hands is just as real today as it was then.

  21. it dose amazed at the fact that so long after Moses had died he was seen talking with God on the mountan that even after he lost the promise of the land here on earth he was taken to the true promised land. God truly is a mighty wonder

    • moses may not have seen the earthly pomise land butt we will get to walk the streets of glorey with him in the altiment promise land when we all see jesus

  22. being obedient to the Word of God is the key to having a relationship with God like Moses did. just the thought of thinking that the promises of God are also for me makes me speechless

  23. This chapter illustrates realization. Moses was a great man of God and was used mightily by God; even with all of his accomplishments we see his disobedience cost him. We (I) must realize as long as we (I) still have breath we (I) can repent of any known or unknown disobedience and strive to accomplish something for the Lord. May the good Lord bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  24. Following the Lord. Passing the Word of God from generation to generation. From Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Joshua. Having the Lord in your life, the passing of his Word continues to this day. Each family member has an obligation to continue the faith in the Lord!

  25. Moses had the relationship with God we seek today: Face to Face, heart to heart. God was just but also loving to Moses-for his sin of disobedience, he did not enter the promised land, but becuase God loved him, he allowed him to look at the different lands beyond the river.

I wonder what disobedience or attitude of my own has kept God from answering prayer and I repent to the Lord openly for the sake and love of others to be healed, delivered and saved. I seek your heart.

    ***Intimate Face to Face Relationship.***

10And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.

***New Testiment Face to Face Relationship***

    John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father;

    ***Conclusion***

John the Beloved took full advantage of an Intimate Relationship with the Father.

John 13:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

  27. 9 Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. The People of Israel listened obediently to him and did the same as when God had commanded Moses. Msg

Their is a reason why God places leaders and a Pastor in our lives……

  28. God gave Moses the vision of Jericho taken even before Israel got there and faced those mighty walls. Catch the vision of your leader, catch the victory. There’s much to be learned at the feet of our elders and leaders.

  29. Future Investment

9 Before Moses died, he had placed his hands on Joshua, and the LORD had given Joshua wisdom. The Israelites paid attention to what Joshua said and obeyed the commands that the LORD had given Moses. CEV

Who you are investing to take your place? Who are our next Sunday school teachers, bus workers, alter workers, preachers, youth workers, and evangelists. Invest in your future pray for one another, teach bible studies and go make disciples.

  30. V.10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses,
whom the LORD knew face to face. What a beautiful relationship the Lord had with Moses. And to know that he desires to have that same relationship with us(me). That means imust go deeper with Jesus, no matter the cost!

  31. 10And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

I look forward to the day in which I too get to know Jesus face to face…

  32. It would be great to know the Lord face to face. We can know him by his word. The more of his word we get, the better we will know him. It’s important for us to have a close relationship with God. Through him is the only way to grow in the Spirit.

  33. There has been none like Moses that have seen GOD face to face. Maybe that is why when he was 130 that he was still able to see well and he still had all of his strength.
