2 Kings 18
1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father did.
4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
5 He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
6 For he clave to the Lord, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the Lordcommanded Moses.
7 And the Lord was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
8 He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
9 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
10 And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
11 And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:
12 Because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
13 Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.
14 And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15 And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
17 And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
18 And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
19 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
20 Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
21 Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
22 But if ye say unto me, We trust in the Lord our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
23 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
24 How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
25 Am I now come up without the Lord against this place to destroy it? The Lord said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
26 Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews’ language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
28 Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:
29 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:
32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The Lord will deliver us.
33 Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the Lordshould deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
37 Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

I will believe the report of the Lord!!!!!!
Whose report will you believe? The murmurs of the enemy, with his lies, and deceit? No!!! Lord forbid, I will believe the report of the Lord.
It sounds to me like the king of Assyria is just one big bully, making himself sound a lot badder than he is. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Not doubt or fear but FAITHFULNESS. Now is the time, Now is the moment, TRUST, BELIEVE, GROW, AND CULTIVATE FAITHFULNESS!!!
NOW FAITH is fixing’ to show up and God is fixing’ to show out…GOD LOVES NOW FAITH.

Watch that IF word. Thats when satan introduces his substitute work. Wanting to replace the true spiritual with his dangerous and false substitutes, such as fear, lies, bribes, greed, and lies. They didn’t even know that by Hezekiah removing the high places meant he was now trusting our great GOD.
Everything GOD IS IN IS REAL.. JESUS IS THE TRUTH, LIFE AND THE WAY!.
nothing can take place of the truly spiritual.
One move of the Spirit of GOD can heal and fill so many souls.

THE VOICE OF DECEPTION – FALSE ACCUSATIONS AND EMPTY PROMISES
29 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:
30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

These 4 verses summarize the technique and vernacular that satan uses even today.
The Voice of Deception first attacks the “Voice of Authority” in your life, Pastor, Parents, Peace Officers. The seed of doubt is sown by satan to weaken or break the unity of Leader and follower.
The Voice of Deception then attacks the “TRUTH” The LORD WILL deliver us! The seed of doubt is sown to weaken our belief in the promises of GOD.
The Voice of Deception then makes “EMPTY PROMISES” promising a land that did not even belong to them, the earth is the LORD’s. An empty promise of a land that belonged to GOD.
Every song we sing, every Bible Study we teach and every message we preach is to remind us of the fact “The LORD will deliver us”.

There are swords that have cut right between the middle of families. Can you imagine what there family reunion would be like?
Whispers behind your back ” that’s the one that’s got it . The tongue talker, the holy roller
But JESUS said , ” your with me or against me
” and ye shall be hated for my name sake.”
These lines cut into families.
Sometimes mothers and daughters are separated in their affection and dads say their farewells
Hezekiah’s father did evil and Hezekiah did that which was right in the sight of the LORD.
That’s were the sword was drawn, he was on the LORD’S side. His mother must have been a godly mother she instilled GOD’s Word GOD’S commandments into her sons life.
It payed off not only in saving individuals but would spare a nation.
As mothers we must continue to teach our children in the ways of the LORD. In doing so no telling who or what nation might be saved.
And to the spiritual mother ( the church )

The end of verse 32 in the MSG reads “…You only live once—so live, really live!” The top three military chiefs of the king of Assyria were trying to convince the people not to listen to Hezekiah. They were spewing out lies and empty guarantees; but, the only way to really truly live, really live is in Christ! Many people today are still listening to lies and empty guarantees from Satan.; but, the answer to the chief of staff of king Assyria’s question at the end of verse 35 “….So what makes you think that the Lord can rescue Jerusalem from me?”… should have been verse 39 NLT from the previous chapter (17) that read….”You must worship only the Lord your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.” YES, my God can/will save you and rescue you IF you worship only him and keep his commandments!
This chapter illustrates integrity. Although the people of Judah were told all manner of things by Rabshakeh, they stood fast as king Hezekiah commanded. Today the deceiver still attempts to communicate all manner of things; however we must stand fast and show integrity in the King of Kings (Jesus), for those that do shall prevail in Christ Jesus. ANCIENT SYMBOLS IN MODERN MEDICINE:
Does the ancient symbolism employed by the institutions that control modern medicine reflect the influence of secret societies such as the Freemasons? In order to fully understand the esoteric significance of modern medical symbolism, such as the cross, or Ankh, or the serpents and staff of Moses, or the winged staff of Hermes, it is helpful to begin by understanding that all doctors swear to pagan gods.
The Hippocratic Oath, which is sworn by all doctors, begins with the invocation: “I swear by Apollo the Physician. By Aesculapius, Hygela and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods and goddesses…”[1] Dr Robert Orr showed in 1993 that 100% of American medical schools administer some form of the Hippocratic Oath to graduates.[2] Dr James Appleyard, Chairman of the World Medical Association’s medical ethics committee, supports the modern use of the ancient Hippocratic oath as “the continuation of a statement of fundamental ethical principles that could be affirmed at graduation by doctors worldwide”.[3]
The World Medical Association’s logo[4] features a serpent wrapped around a staff, the symbol of the ancient Greek god Asklepios. Aesculapius, worshipped by the Greeks as the god of healing, who originated in ancient Egypt as Imhotep, high-priest, sage and minister to the pharaoh, Zoser. It is significant that this symbol is reminiscent of the Staff of Moses.[5] The World Health Organisation’s logo[6] also contains the ancient religious symbol of the serpent and staff, which is superimposed over the United Nations emblem.
There is great contrast in this chapter between Judah following the commandments of the Lord and doing that which was pleasing because of the example and leadership of the present King, and Israel being taken captive because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord or walked in His commandments. It does rain on the just as well as the unjust, but we have confidence in knowing that in the midst of the battle of life, the promises of the Lord for those who diligently seek Him offer protection, strength, guidance, deliverance and provision for those that walk in His ways.

We (I) have to do what we preach. If we are going to win souls for God’s kingdom we are going to have to practice what we preach. Our actions speak louder than words. You never know who is watching us and following us.
We as children of God need to keep our word. If we say were going to do something then we need to do it. We can’t be hypocrites or people who don’t keep their word. People could be looking at us on how we live and we need to show them Jesus!
5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before or after his time.
6 He remained faithful to the Lord in everything, and he carefully obeyed all the commands the Lord had given Moses.
7 So the Lord was with him, and Hezekiah was successful in everything he did. He revolted against the king of Assyria and refused to pay him tribute.
8 He also conquered the Philistines as far distant as Gaza and its territory, from their smallest outpost to their largest walled city.
Trust, Faith, and Obedience led Hezekiah to be successful with God with him and conquer new lands. . . So we should Trust God, have Faith in God, and Obey God then we will have God with us and be able to conquer new lands (reach souls) for God!
Vs. 3-7, “And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father did. Finally, someone who’s doing it right. King Hezekiah followed good leadership. (He did according to all that David his father did.) He himself became a good leader. He got rid of all the things that pertained unto idol worship. He got rid of the things that caused the people to sin against God. He trusted and did cling to the Lord, and he followed after him. Because he did all these things, and his heart was right before God, God prospered him where ever he went.
If we will trust in him and cling to him with our whole heart, he will guide our lives too. Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”
I CHOOSE to Trust and Cling to JESUS !
Problems arise when you begin to have a conversation with the devil. The king of Assyria sent his men to boast and threaten but the people of Judah were wise and listened to the king. They stayed quiet and let the enemy make noise. No matter how much the enemy tries to drag you into his conversation obey the wod of the king.
Rebelling for the good!

We must cut down the groves in our lives that are harboring the things that are not of God! As did king Hoshea, we must stand and fight for what is right and what we believe in. The only way you can rebell is by first being under submission or being forced to be in submission. In the Revolutionary War, many were labeled as rebels, and therefore considered to traitors to the crown. when we come out of sin, by being saved through the infilling of the Holy Ghost, we then become traitors to the enemy. And by all means thats fine with me! That means I am with God , and God is on my side. I motion that We become traitors for God , and show this city what it means to be Holy Ghost filled, Spirit lead, On Fire for God, Christians!

Removing those things in our life that are not pleasing to God is what will take us to the next level. Hazekiah trusted in the Lord, which is what made it easy to follow after God. Many times things seem hard for us because we don’t truly trust what God is doing. We always have a plan B in place in case God doesn’t move on our behalf. Having a plan B tells God you don’t fully trust him to bring you through. Putting our complete trust in God means you don’t know what’s going to happen, but you believe that as long as God is in it, it will turn out just right.
The message is so simple yet sometimes we try to make it so complicated…

–They didn’t obey the voice of God (the man of God); they were carried away by the enemy
Deuteronomy 30:20
That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

From these verses alone, we know that God is going to show up for King Hezekiah, Jerusalem and his people! The King is going through a trial of his faith, but he knows in whom he serves! He knows that the God of Moses-the God of his forefathers-can defeat this enemy. Now he has to stand on his faith without wavering and wait on God. Easy? No because a trial is just that..a trial! But even his servants and the people listening to the false promises of the Assyrians hold their peace-they too know that God is for them and their King is blessed by God.
Remove the high places of sin and all Satan can do is talk!

Even though Assyria had destroyed every city and teard down the walls to Judah. Hezekiah kept his faith and trust in the Lord.
No matter what problems, situations, we face in life we should keep our trust in God every battle is already won by Him!
There was a lot of work to be done to clean up after all the past kings. It took a determination and a hunger for the will of God and a willingness to put Gods plan before his plan. God honors the hard work of a righteous man. But the hard work of a unrighteous man goes unnoticed
Hezekiah:
He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. For he clave to the Lord, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses. And the Lord was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not. What great faith he had inorder to trust Fod that much. I know that I am building my faith, but his was strong to rely so completely on God.
And Rab–shakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest? Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me? (2 Kings 18:19, 20 KJV)
Who do you trust? They trusted God. I too choose to trust God. I trusted for my husband. I am now trusting for my mother, sister and her family, and Jessie’s family too.
But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not. (2 Kings 18:36 KJV)

Hezekiah and didn’t respond. Silence speaks volumes. It tells they trusted and that they were willing to obey.

Finally a King who did right in the eyes of the Lord, cut down the high places and down the groves.
The meaning of “Father”
In ancient times ‘fathers house’ referred to a person’s extended family; similarly, the word ‘father’ could refer to any male ancestor. The phrase father David appears more than 40 times throughout Scripture. David is called the “father” of Hezekiah here, as well as Ahaz in 2 Kings 16:2. Both men are decendants of King David: Ahaz, 9 generations away from David, and Hezekiah, 10 (Mt 1:6-10). Yet the two men -one the father and one the son; one the righteous and one the ungodly- are in many ways extreme opposites. One family tree can consist of the righteous (fruitful), and then have fallen, backslidden (fruitless) and many do.
Jesus speaks in Matt 10: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
John 15: 1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Ultimately God is the Father of all, and without Him, their would have beem no Abraham or David. To be called father is an honor and a responsibilty.
Submission
22 But if ye say unto me, We trust in the Lord our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
We can’t let just anyone speak into our lives. Sometimes in following the will of God, we understand the “what” more than the “why.” The enemy may come to challenge the decision to follow the will of God with ungodly wisdom, which may at first sound reasonable if we allow ourselves to succumb to carnal thinking. Just because we don’t understand why God has us to do something doesn’t mean that we should allow ourselves to be “reasoned” out of obedience.
36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
The people’s response was not based on opinion and personal interpretation, it was the silence of obedience to the command. Our leadership is to be a covering and guide to us to protect and lead us regardless of whether we understand it or not, and there are defeats and even struggles that can be completely avoided through submission.
The king brake in pieces the brasen serpent. Why did he brake the thing God told Moses to put up and who ever looked upon it they lived.
Because some time between numbers 21:8-9 and 2 kings 18 the people had truned the brasen snake into a God they would burn incense to they begane to worship the nake and not God. I can’t worship the things God gives me. I must worship God and Him alone.
This chapter gives us an example of how we should behave when the enemy comes and taunts us. Here the enemy ridiculed the king and God, yet the people said not a word. Sometimes we need to just ignore naysayers. Do not give place to the devil.

5 He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
UNTIL NOW we have a king in Judah that went to the high places removed, broke, cut down the sin of the land.
What an example Hezekiah has left us in this chapter. If we truly give of ourselves to Christ by walking in His ways and destroy the sin in our lives the Lord will be pleased and we will be complete in Him.
There will be those in your life that tell you not to listen to their God and their spokesmen. But follow the desires of your own heart and to follow Little gods of success,prosperity and the fruit of yor own hands.BUT God,The Big God the one and only gives us the abilities and talents. The word doctrine of fairness is not in the word and we are not created equal,Some are given one talent, some five, and some ten. Use your talent for God even if it is only one!Proverbs 26.25 When he speaketh FAIR words beleive him not for there are 7 abominations in his heart! To speak fairness to a people is like using flowery words to deceive. God is a just God!!

Nothing can ever take the place of the true living God. We have to be careful in our walk with him on who/what we might slide in the place before him. If you keep God first then he’ll take care of the rest. He’s a miracle working God!

It great to know after a long time that Hezekia was finnally a King that did what please God. He kept all of Gods commandments and clave to God. As a result of his faithfulness the Lord prospered him wereever he went. I pray that I would have that type of testimony.
Hezekiah was told what the commander had said. This chapter shows how people can loose fatith so quickly. If the people don’t believe nor follow God’s commands they become lost in there own skin. Only if they trusted God all would be so much easier but the enemy is always in the mist.
