Psalm 132

1 Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:

How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

10 For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

  1. This chptr sounds like they are in “church” with the saints and the psalm is looking for where God resides at.
I’m thankful that we can find God (Jesus) when we call upon Him and I have a church to go find Him at. thank u Jesus for the saints too.
    Much appreciated.

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids.
5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

  2. 3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

    Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  3. 9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

In verse 9 the psalmist is asking God to clothe His priest in righteousness and in 11 the psalmist is saying that he will clothe the priests with salvation.. But in both verses the saints are shouting with a loud shout for joy. I think that many times we loose the value of a shout. Many times we forget that when we praise God is when we are victorious.

I know the enemy’s plans, to kill, steal, and destroy. My God plans for us to have life and have it more abuntly. If we win with a shout of praise, because it confuses the enemy, why do we not praise harder?

    PRAISE YOU JESUS!!!

  4. 4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, 5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

We have to make sure that God has His rightful place in our lives. If He is not in the right place in our lives, then like the Psalmist, we should not rest until He has that place.

  5. v17″ I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.”

JESUS called us out of darkness into HIS
marvelous light. There’s no need to walk around empty and in darkness. In HIS presence we find EVERYTHING we need.
Without GOD our lives are without form and void, lost and undone.
JESUS CAN fill the void with true life, joy and hope.
Anyone who walks in HIS light has the light of life.” JESUS the light of the world”
    John 8:11

HIS Light provides us with direction and as we reflect HIS LIGHTwe will positively influence others to HIS LIGHT . HIS LIGHT WILL also continually cleanse our hearts and minds, and best of all guide us to the eternal home that HE has prepared for those who love HIM.
Thank you JESUS FOR YOUR LIGHT
    YOUR WORD!

  6. We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

Let us go to the House of the Lord and Worship today, with all our mind, body, and soul !!!

  7. This chapter illustrates inheritance. There was an inheritance that was to be given, because of David’s actions, as long as God’s (Jesus) covenant and testimony was kept. While one’s actions may also make away for an inheritance for one’s children, they must also choose to keep God’s (Jesus) covenant and testimony. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  8. 4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Let us find that place of praise today that The Lord can dwell in. We will find rest in his praise.

  9. The Lord Jesus Christ desires to abide in you. He is not asking you to clean the house for Him to come in, for our righteousness is as filthy rags; He is asking to abide in you, He will come in, He will clean house, He will make sure everything is sparkling and then He will abide in you by the Holy Ghost. He will take care of your enemies as long as you keep your side of the bargain and obey, submit, and have Faith in HIM. Sing oh all children of Zion, lift your voices in Praise to the one True God, keep His commandments and He will make sure you will be provided for, He will take care of the rest, Salvation will come to your house and everyone that abides in it.

Praise be the Lord Jesus Christ, the One True God!!!! Open your heart and let HIM in.

  10. THE DYNAMICS OF AN EFFECTIVE WORSHIP SERVICE

7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.
8 Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

There are 3 identifiable attributes and traits of an EFFECTIVE WORSHIP SERVICE here in Chapter 132.

    1. HUMILITY – We FIRST must go IN to HIS tabernacle. We must pursue HIM and come to HIS house on HIS terms. There is an outcry in our society to quiet down and dumb down the gospel to not be offensive. While we sit back and witness a radical Islamic demonstration of commitment and sacrifice in the name of death. We have been given LIFE and that more abundantly. Choose NOW to LIVE LIFE and GIVE LIFE for JESUS.

Once in HIS Tabernacle we further HUMBLE ourselves by sitting at his feet. This is a type of service. Waiting at HIS feet to do whatever HE desires.

    2. RIGHTEOUSNESS – The Priests, the Ministers, the Leaders must be clothed with “Doing the RIGHT thing”. Living RIGHT in the sight of GOD. Living a HOLY (separated) life unto HIM. Not tainted or corrupted by this world and its systems.

    3. SHOUT FOR JOY – The SAINTS, the REDEEMED, (including The Priests) must SHOUT for JOY. Do not be overcome with sadness, defeat or discouragement. GOD is FOR us and with this PROMISE “who can stand against us?”

NOW is the TIME to LIVE for GOD.

  11. Psalm 132:4,5.i will not give sleep to mine eyes or slumber to mine eyelids.

    —-GOD( FIRST PRIORITY)
    God our first desire….
Just wake up, as soon as we open our eyes, thank him, exalt his name, commit ourselves to him, and then we jump out of bed….
To me( personally) I have my devotion, later on, when kids are at school, and I am by myself.
    UNTIL I FIND A PLACE FOR HIM…..
again: GOD FIRST: in my heart, in my everyday life …my guidence,my counselor, all praise to him, and no one else.
—— God the FOUNDATION!!!!(of my being)
    In Jesus name,AMEN!!!

    • ….A place for him:”RELATION SHIP”not a once a week deal, or only in desperation ….
But “always” the rest of our lives…

  12. In The Temple Of My Heart

I will abundantly bless her [Zion’s]provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
    Psalm 132:15

When I am having troublewith my finances,God, remind me that You will always provide, one way or another, for those who loveYou.

  13. 3 “I will not go home; I will not let myself rest.
4 I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber
5 until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.” (NLT)

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot about passion. Just like David in this chapter, specifically these verses, we should have a passion and desire to live for and please God, to build the Lord a house of praise that He can come and dwell in.

  14. 14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

The Spirit of God is the true rest. When we are dealing with things in life, God will give the peace.

  15. Its a prayer to be used in public worship. It recalls the joy that marked the day David brought the ark to Jerusalem and celebrates not only Gods presence but the promise thst the Messiah will come from Davids line

  16. ILove to eat the word

Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. (Psalms 132:3-5 KJV)

Each day we should give place to The Lord God most high. We should give room in our hearts and allow him to be king in our world.

25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27Neither give place to the devil.

Lets give place to God and resist the Devil!

  17. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy

The sound of victory – a shout of joy! What an expression and example to others when we can have the joy of the joy of the Lord no matter what situation we are in.

  18. 7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.

Let us all come to the house of the Lord and be grateful that we don’t have to walk in by twos. Thank God we are free hallelujah Jesus set us free in our own minds along with our physical freedom. We all have reason to worship the Lord, even if you feel like God has never done anything for you… You are still breathing.

  19. This psalm speaks of David what he’d endured and what he was promised by God. vs13 says that the Lord had chosen Zion for his dwelling place, an because it will be his dwelling place where he dwells its goingto be holy, because he is the holy of holies this means that their will be blessings of abundant provision (vs15) salvation (16) set apart unto him, everything the world is not. vs 17 says “here i will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my annointed one.” The psalmist is refering to Jesus and how he is to come from David’s line of kings, to be the King of Kings. But heres the royal beauty in vs 18 “the crown on his head will be resplendent.” victory is his, no matter what the weapon is we his church will win.

  20. 3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

I think sometimes we tend to get in the mode of “well if I don’t get what I need at church tonight, there’s always next time.” I believe, however, our hunger level has a lot to do with our blessing level. If having an encounter with God is just “optional” with failure being acceptable, then what message do we send to God? If we have a fiery hunger like in this Psalm and make up in our minds”I’m not stopping until I get Jesus and He gets me”, imagine what could happen. Hunger, passion, desperation… A recipe for an encounter.

Like the song says “Nothing in this world can satisfy, Jesus You’re the cup that won’t run dry.” When His presence is heaven to us, we begin to realize the treasure in pursuing and catching God. And an overwhelming hunger for Him is what He delights to find in His people.

  21. 5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

What place does He have in your life? Where does He fit in into a “busy” human’s life? In the first verses how David made a vow unto the Lord and said that he will not rest until he has given the Lord His place in his life. He made it a daily thing. He made time for the Lord. We know that God is always with us, but are we always with Him? Do we give Him access to time into our lives. Let’s remember that any relationship requires time spent with each other..

  22. There will I make a horn spring forth and bud for David; I have ordained and prepared a lamp for My anointed [fulfilling the promises of old]. (Psalm 132:17 AMP)

Wow there’s a lamp that he has ordained and prepared …. Our steps have truely been ordered Ps 37:23

  23. “I will not go home; I will not let myself rest. I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber until I find a place to build a house for the Lord, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.” (Psalms 132:3-5 NLT)

I will work until I do what The Lord wants, I will listen closely, I will keep my eyes focused on him.

  24. Verse 9 NKJV “Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness,
And let Your saints shout for joy.”

Same verse CEV “Let victory be like robes for the priests; let your faithful people celebrate and shout.”

Same verse NLT “May your priests be clothed in godliness; may your loyal servants sing for joy.”

To be clothed with righteousness (right living and right standing with God) or robed in victory, should be what we strive for in order to be his saints, his faithful people and loyal servants.

  25. 5 Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Do you have a place for The Lord?

  26. BEHOLD, BLESS (affectionately and gratefully praise) the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, [singers] who by night stand in the house of the Lord. (Psalm 134:1 AMP)

Are you a servant of The Lord? Then you are a worshiper.
