Acts 21
1 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
2 And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.
3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
7 And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
8 And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.
16 There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
38 Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

Paul was an educated man, he spoke various languages. He couldn’t get enough of Jesus, he spoke to everyone about Jesus even the gentiles which made “righteous” people upset. He got tired of sharing Jesus with the Jew for few were responding to the calling of the Holy Ghost. God ALWAYS HAS A PLAN IN MIND… Paul spoke Greek to the captain and Hebrew to the Jew. Makes you think, we shall ALL learn a foreign language so we may reach out to so many others
here to teach them about Jesus Christ our Lord.
For we do not know where HIS calling will take us or whom He may put on our path; so ROSETTA STONE HERE WE GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can we stand among such men in heaven, who were willing to die for Jesus, if we aren’t at least willing to live for Him?
Not mine will, but thine be done.
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

We all pray prayers that seek the “will” of GOD, but as we see those prayers being answered we fear truth, we fear the unknown. Whether it concerns family issues, a job situation, or simply just relationships that you hope for. Sometimes the will of GOD doesnt feel right because its not according to what we want/desire at the time. But its when we truly need to trust in The Lord with all of our heart and lean not unto our own understanding….even when it hurts. He knows what is best for us, we just need to learn to accept with an open heart and an open mind.
Born to die for the Kings of kings. Paul was ready for anything. He knew there was nothing people could do to harm him mentally and spiritually. He knew he would see JESUS one day. To live is Christ to die is gain.

This has to be my mindset daily!
Verses 12-13 MSG “When we heard that, we and everyone there that day begged Paul not to be stubborn and persist in going to Jerusalem. But Paul wouldn’t budge: “Why all this hysteria? Why do you insist on making a scene and making it even harder for me? You’re looking at this backward. The issue in Jerusalem is not what they do to me, whether arrest or murder, but what the Master Jesus does through my obedience. Can’t you see that?” As Bro. Crockett spoke about last night, if we are in the will of God and being obedient; we have nothing to fear from the enemy!
The end of verses 27-29 MSG says “…..This is the man who is going all over the world telling lies against us and our religion and this place. He’s even brought Greeks in here and defiled this holy place.” (What had happened was that they had seen Paul and Trophimus, the Ephesian Greek, walking together in the city and had just assumed that he had also taken him to the Temple and shown him around.)” This is what happens when you don’t know the whole story or see the big picture. Again, as Bro. Crockett spoke last night, when your on your knees….you are that much closer to God’s perspective. We don’t always have to understand everything; but, we must always trust in our heavenly Father who does!

14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
Paul said why weep for me, Paul wanted people to understand I want the will of God in this situation. Please do not let other things cloud what the will of God is.
We should all be willing to see the will of God in all our lives no matter what may come.

11 He came to us, took Paulʼs belt, tied his own hands and feet with it, and said, “The Holy Spirit says this: ʻThis is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will tie up the man whose belt this is, and will hand him over to the Gentiles.ʼ”

33 Then the commanding officer came up and arrested him and ordered him to be tied up with two chains; he then asked who he was and what he had done.
Twice in this chapter Paul is warned about going to Jerusalem but he still goes anyway.
Acts 21:4 (NETFull)
4 After we located the disciples, we stayed there seven days. They repeatedly told Paul through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem.
I am challenged to believe that Paul ignored the warning of the spirit. However as we will see God worked this out for good for people eventually.
Sometimes our heart can be in the right place but our actions are not. We can find ourselves with good intentions truly trying to serve the Lord but because we are humans we make mistakes.
The Lord can take any situation and work it for good. The key is trusting him. Situations will happen. It’s the response that matters the most.
TO DIE FOR

Understanding and accepting our purpose in life is the key living peacefully in the will of GOD. Being warned of trouble, peril, and pain the GOD called apostle chose to complete his walk, his work and his Kingdom purpose.
Willing to die in the flesh is not a decision that one comes to lightly or easily. The apostle contended at Corinth that he was in fact willing to and facing death on a daily basis.
1Corinthians 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
As our example of commitment to and in favor of the gospel of JESUS. Our calling may some day ask of us to be willing to physically die for HIM and HIS testimony and Kingdom. Until that day approaches, we are wise to die to our fleshly lusts and desires to always be in a state of mind TO DIE FOR our LORD and Christ that was so willing TO DIE FOR us.

Sometimes the will of the Lord is not what people want to hear. So, how does one pray for someone in need? Do you pray for healing, deliverance, etc… Or does one pray for the will of the Lord be done? I would say a combination of both. In the heat of battle or under the pressure of the moment of need sometimes, people need to hear the reassurance of a directed prayer towards relief. Likely there is a reason people are going through any particular trial. However, the Lord is compassionate.
Jonah 3:10 God saw what they had done, that they had turned away from their evil lives. He did change his mind about them. What he said he would do to them he didn’t do. MSG
5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
The key to this entire chapter is they were prepared with prayer for what things were to come. They prayed and sought the Lord, and then went the direction they felt to go, knowing what had been prophesied and what was to come. If we will be sensitive to the Spirit the Lord will direct our steps, and although our steps may take us into uncomfortable situations, we can have confidence that the Lord is with us because we sought him prior to walking that path.
v13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also yo die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus .
Paul was willing to suffer death
because of his stand for JESUS CHRIST

The hardships Paul faced in life was to offer us HOPE in the midst of our difficulties and not sympathy. So no matter what we may be faced with our lives definitely should clearly declare that we belong to GOD.
STAND UP FOR JESUS!!!!

So many times we think something bad might be coming our direction, so we steer clear, but not Paul. Paul knew only one thing mattered, preaching the word of God. Paul had all confidence that he was doing all he could, and he was trusting Jesus to take care of the rest.
We truly see how much Paul believed what he preached, as he knew he had to preach the Gospel, and he knew that “NO WEAPON formed against HIM would prosper”. So, Where’s our faith? Is it in the natural, or he super-natural?

When it comes to understanding the law of Moses in the 21st, there has been a lot confusion. That should be no surprise for the fact that there has always been confusion. The Apostles and Paul are once again trying to draw the line in the proverbial sand with the following statements, “After hearing this, they praised God. And then they said, “You know, dear brother, how many thousands of Jews have also believed, and they all follow the law of Moses very seriously. As for the Gentile believers, they should do what we already told them in a letter: They should abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality.” (Acts of the Apostles 21:20, 25 NLT)
Boom, easy as that! If you’re Jewish keep doing what you’re doing and if you’re Gentile do these few things. Easy…supposed to be

A changed man. When we allow God to change us. We become different than what we were. This is the power of a changed life. From murderer to minister.
14 When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.” (NLT)
How often do we pray endlessly for the will of God to be done in our lives; we pray the Lord would use us and have His way. Then when He begins to work and things begin to change we panic like this crowd who pleaded for Paul to stay. Why would you pray for God’s will to be done and then try and stop God from moving just because it’s not happening the way you wanted it to, so you tell God, “No that’s not what I meant!” As someone once told me, “Don’t be wishy-washy.” Trust God when He begins to move in your life, allow Him to have His way because He will never lead you wrong. What you think looks like a mess, is just a reconstruction to God, the end result is far greater than you could ever imagine!
Acts 21:19 Paul greeted them ad reported in detail what God had done among the gentiles through his ministry. When they heard this they praise God. Then they said to Paul you see brother how many thousands of Jews have belived and all of them are zealous for the law.
13 But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.” 14 When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”
The Lords Will Be Done.
13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
Souled out!! It takes one to be souled out for the cause and the Kingdom to allow God’s will to be done. It was faith, complete confidence in the Lord, that kept Paul going, even after being beat and accused.
Philip is reffered to by Paul as an evangelist. When last we heard of Phillip (Acts 8:40) he had just reached Caesarea; apparently he had been working there as an evangelist ever since. His old home at Jerusalem (Acts 6:5) had been broken up by the persecution (Acts 8:5), and the then deacon had become an evangelist (Acts 8:12). We have already read how “the Seven” of Acts 6:3 are regarded as a special or distinct body. Evangelists are mentioned by Paul (Eph 4:11) as one of the higher orders of the ministry; and Timothy is bid “do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5). Philip’s old association with Stephen in the office of a deacon must have been keenly remembered by Paul because he says “We abode with him”. This seems to imply that Phillip was well known considering he had four daughters who prophesy.

Amen!!! The day I decided to get baptized was when I completely decided to leave everything and follow Christ. I still remember the great joy that I felt when I recieved the HG for the first time and got baptized. It was a joy that seemed everyone attacked me for. Nobody truly understood the joy I had because they did not see what I saw. Jesus is the answer to everything and I praise God that He took me out of the pit I was in and the greater pit I was going to be in if I die and give myself to him. Many ppl might see as living for God is a “sacrifice” but when you have your eyes set on Jesus. You realize nothing is greater than the mighty God I serve 🙂
Acts 21:10-13

2 Timothy 2:9-12
9, Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds: but the word of God is not bound.
10, Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11, It is a faithful saying; For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12, If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he will deny us.
Every trouble, temptation, persecution Paul suffered through and even in bonds, Paul did it all for one thing, and that was so people could obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus. He knew if he suffered for Jesus; he would reign with him someday, and if he died for Jesus, he would live with Jesus someday.
What an example Paul is for all of us today.
Stay strong through every trouble and keep on sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and one day we will reign and live with Him.
8 The next day we went on to Caesarea and stayed at the home of Philip the Evangelist, one of the seven men who had been chosen to distribute food.
Thank God, we also distribute food when needed. The giving away of milk/bread to the community and to see the people’s reaction when we offer it to them. They are kind and accepting, and thank us for blessing the community.
“And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.” Paul (the man of God) had purposed to obey the Holy Ghost (Jesus), regardless of the cost. Obedience may not always be easy, however it will always be right. Dear God, help me to be as Paul in complete obedience to you, so that I may hear well done; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

Such an aggressive group of people. Today we see the same with others who don’t skate or beliefs. This is predominate in the ISIS movement right now. May God help us.
But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.” When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.” (Acts of the Apostles 21:13-14 NLT)
When you have a vision nothing can stand in between you and your goal. Paul clearly knew that preaching the gospel did not entail a glorious life but that didn’t matter to him because he had a vision, a purpose in life to reach as many souls as he could. We should take this as an example of how bold we should be to proclaim the word of God no matter the circumstance.
12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
Many people in life often mean well when they try to keep us from fulfilling what God is trying to lead us to do. “Paul please dont go, for you will be killed if you go” Yet, just as Paul we must travel on and fulfill the will of God. Our testimony is more powerful in the hands of those that do not know Him than in mind out mind or in the hands of those that do not know what to do with it. Paul needed to go tell somebody.

Prayer. They stopped to pray. Great men of the Bible stop to pray. That means that if we are going to be great we have to be a praying, seeking, hearing Christian.
36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
Sometimes when people push us away, that’s when they need to hear the word of the Lord the most
39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
Even in this terrible trial, Paul asks for the chance to speak to the people, to witness to them of his conversion. A man being carried because of the beating he just received might have his mind on himself, but Paul had the mind of Christ, and thought not on his wounds, but on souls.
When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.” (Acts of the Apostles 21:14 NLT)
It was clear that pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem,for that the additional word was not from the lord Jesus Christ,for otherwise Paul would have been disobedient to go to Jerusalem,for both we and those form that place pleaded with him,for I know that the will of the lord be done,for it came to the understanding that gods will would be done ,for it came to trust that either way if Paul was prolly right and even if he was wrong God would use it.!!! In Jesus Name !!!!!
The Castle !!!! 37. And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek? 38. Art not thou that E-gyp’-tian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers? Acts 5 : 36 39. But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tar’-sus, a city in Ci-li’-ci-a, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people. Acts 9 : 11 I Love you Jesus !!!! Praise ye the Lord !!!!
