Genesis 49

1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.

6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.

7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.

9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.

14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:

15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

18 I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.

19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.

21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.

22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.

28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.

32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.

33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

  1. Genises 49:21
Naphtali is a hind let loose he giveth goodly words.
He gave good words when he spoke not bad ones we have to give good words no matter what when we talk to people and God because God don’t like bad words only good words More Jesus. Amen

  2. Your family will be broken down too, either by good works or bad as it was here. How do you want to be remembered?

“Lord Remember me in your Kingdom”…..

  3. Verse 28 CEV “These are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is how Jacob gave each of them their proper blessings.” God not only granted Jacob the opportunity to see his beloved son again; but, to say good-bye to each of his sons before he died. Each one of them had something that their father remembered them for, whether good or bad (this is what either their blessing came from or their curse). We must be cautious of what we do, say or portray at all times. Lord I pray you guide my every step and JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

  4. What a God we serve.

I am sorry Lord, that people turn the wrong way sometimes. I pray if we all turn astray that the Holy Ghost will bring us back home.

Only God *Jesus* can do that.
I love Him. I know that not always I’m not able to go to the House of the Lord, but I try to read His Word *blog, bible*, everyday. And listen to all of His speaking words that fill me up. My mind feels safe knowing that my JESUS is with me.

    God knows.
    I love You…my saviour.

  5. 33. When Jacob had finished this charge to his sons, he drew his feet into the bed, breathed his last, and joined his ancestors in death. NLT

He held on to life until he had finished what he had set out to do. I pray that I never give up and leave this life (spiritual or physical) until I have finished what God has planned for me.

  6. THE FAMILY TREE

33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

Every family is BLESSED with a diverse collection of unique individuals. Jacob invested his final few minutes in identifying the lives of the 12 sons of Jacob, the 12 Tribes of Israel that would forever impact history.

At The POFW we are family! Our church family is unique in the fact that we all come from different backgrounds from different places. The Kingdom of GOD and HIS Purpose is what unites us. Baptized in the name of JESUS we become part of HIS Body, called by HIS Name, filled with HIS Spirit.

As the Church we all trace our roots back to JESUS, and as he prepares to lay down this season of history, I am intently listening for his voice. What will be said of my name and for HIS Kingdom.

    iPray to hear “Well Done”

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. 7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

    Divided by deception

  8. FAMILY GOT TO LOVE THEM
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

We all got a few nuts in our family tree, that is why it is important to be able to identify their weakness as well as their strength. Jacob did just that; one by one he identify their mistakes and their righteousness accordingly. As a result, he mad them aware to the fact that he knew how they were and where they needed to change, by doing so it opened them to a new opportunity to change. The biggest room is the room for improvement. No matter what was their weakness he still took the time to bless them. The same way we as a whole must recognize our weakness, correct them, and strengthen all qualities. We must give fruit to the kingdom, stay strong when we think we can’t for that is why God has given us the Holy Ghost. Don’t give up on your family pray for them, lift them up, and each them how to improve their qualities in His kingdom. It all narrows down to the fact that ALL family trees have a few nuts on it.

  9. 8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.

  10. ILove to eat more word

“There Abraham and his wife Sarah are buried. There Isaac and his wife, Rebekah, are buried. And there I buried Leah.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭49:31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jacob finally came to the place where Leah’s looks didn’t bother him any more. In the end, Rachel was buried in Bethelham and Leah was buried with Jacob.😃

  11. 28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

  12. Genesis 49:10 (ESV Strong’s)

10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,
    until tribute comes to him;
and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.

I found this foot note while I was reading this passage today.

(ESV Strong’s) 49:10 1 By a slight revocalization; a slight emendation yields (compare Septuagint, Syriac, Targum) until he comes to whom it belongs; Hebrew until Shiloh comes, or until he comes to Shiloh

Today the governmental authority is exercised through praise. This means that when we worship and lift up Jesus he enthroned himself in our worship and court is in session.

We are to continue to do this, and use this scepter until the Lord comes and we give the scepter back to him.

  13. Gen. 49:24
“But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, and stone of Israel:)”

The Mighty God that we serve is Our Shepherd and Chief Corner Stone.

  14. “All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.” The word of God (Jesus) states all were addressed and blessed accordingly. One is wise to reflect on one’s own self, so that one may receive a good blessing. Dear God, help me to examine self and change my actions, so that they may be pleasing to you, and that I may be blessed accordingly; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. “In GOD we trust”. “One Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. What a mighty GOD we serve! Thank GOD for his word. GOD bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in JESUS name, Amen!

  15. “You, Judah, your brothers will praise you: Your fingers on your enemies’ throat, while your brothers honor you. You’re a lion’s cub, Judah, home fresh from the kill, my son. Look at him, crouched like a lion, king of beasts; who dares mess with him? The scepter shall not leave Judah; he’ll keep a firm grip on the command staff Until the ultimate ruler comes and the nations obey him. He’ll tie up his donkey to the grapevine, his purebred prize to a sturdy branch. He will wash his shirt in wine and his cloak in the blood of grapes, His eyes will be darker than wine, his teeth whiter than milk.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭49:8-12‬ ‭MSG‬‬
    http://bible.com/97/gen.49.8-12.msg

Praise literally grabs the enemy by the throat. Praise is able to lead the way to victory. May praise never leave our mouths.

  16. “Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather around. I want to tell you what you can expect in the days to come.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭49:1‬ ‭MSG‬‬

You should never disregard what a father teaches/tells to you.

  17. 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

You cannot take the authority out of praise. The word promises that He will be in the midst of the praises of his people. If Hid is with you then you can do anything. Nothing is impossible

  18. 33fwillWhen Jacob had finished this charge to his sons, he drew his feet into the bed, breathed his last, and joined his ancestors in death. NLT

Jacob had done the will of God he had finished his course he had kept the faith he lived a full life did the will of God and now it was time for his body to rest. I pray that I live a life that is pleasing to God and that my family fulfills the will of God so that when it is our time to go we can know that God is pleased with us.

  19. v 1 And Jacob called unto his sond, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

I’m reminded of the words of JESUS when HE told HIS disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high.
I’m so thankful that the HOLY GHOST knows no bounds.
That’s what THE HOLY GHOST will do for us it will provide insights into things yet to come .HE will guide us into all truth.
    BE LED WITH HIS SPIRIT.

  20. 8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.

The promises of what praise can do in our lives. There is a song that has stuck in my heart over the past few months: I Still Have A Praise Inside of Me.

I been through the flood, Broken in pieces
And left all alone, But through it all God blessed me
And through it all God kept me, and I still have a praise inside of me
Yes I still have a praise inside of me

I been through the fire, I been through the flood
Broken in pieces, and left all alone
But through it all God blessed me, through it all God kept me
And I still have a praise inside of me

There is a praise in my spirit, a praise down in my soul
A glory hallelujah, that cannot be controlled
And I still have a praise inside of me

Although I’ve been wounded, and I’ve been scarred
I never gave up. I trusted in God
And through it all God kept me, and I still have a praise inside of me
Yes I still have a praise inside of me

    Praise will bring you through!

  21. 23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

The blessing and acknowledgment of Joseph in this Scripture sounds similar to the account of Jesus in Mark 12 the cornerstone who was rejected. “But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.” (vs 7) shows the same grievous hatred Joseph’s brothers had for him because of the favor of their father on him. Yet he prevailed and became stronger by the hands of God. When we prevail in the midst of trail the Lord will strengthen and heal us.

  22. 8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.

You want to have favor with the Lord do not put away praise from your lips. God inhabits the praises of his people. We were made to worship Him.
