Deuteronomy 19

1 When the Lord thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;

2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.

4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;

5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:

6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.

7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.

8 And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;

9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

10 That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.

11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:

12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

13 Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.

14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

16 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;

17 Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;

19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

21 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

  1. The beginning of the chapter is talking about safe towns and Cities of Refuge; which reminded me of Psalm 18:2 NLT “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
    He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”

  2. 14. Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

    Don’t try to take what God has given someone else; they won’t have to defend it, God Himself will!

    Proverbs 23:10-11
    10. Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:

    11. For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.

  3. iLove to Grow in the Word

    “you must impose on the accuser the sentence he intended for the other person. In this way, you will purge such evil from among you.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Gods way is higher than our ways… Wouldn’t it be interesting if our society today practiced this law? All the folks bringing false witnesses and false accusation would have the tables turned onto their own heads. The Word says that this system would allow the fear of the Lord to fall upon the land. Some call it karma, but we don’t believe in Hinduism, we believe it is the God of the universe turning the tide back on the false witness.

  4. Innocent Blood

    I’m sure we’ve heard evolutionists say that all real scientists believe in evolution. Many people believed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries – in eugenics. This is the belief that some people groups – such as Irish, Jews or Spanish are inferior and should be eliminated to improve the gene pool of the human race. In theory, it made sense to many. But when the innocent blood of millions was spilled by Adolf Hitler, suddenly it didn’t seem like such a good idea.

    Eugenics even had the support of Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Winston Churchill, inventor Alexander Graham Bell, author H.G. Wells, playwright George Bernard Shaw and many, many others who were among the elites of society. And let’s not forget Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, an organization that continues killing millions of babies every year.

    As deadly as eugenics turned out to be, it doesn’t even come close to the millions of lives lost because of Darwin’s theory of evolution. Be careful who you are listening to and what the people you are hanging around believe in.

  5. the old saying you are what you live is basically true. if you listen only to Godly music then thats what stays in your head. if you listen to country music or whatever other worldly music that stays in your head. think of which is the right testimony for a friend or coworker to hear you when thru out the day you might be singing to make your day brighter. your conduct is one of your greatest testimonies.

  6. 19 give him the same medicine he intended for the other party. Clean the polluting evil from your company MSG
    I like the last part of this scripture “clean the polluting evil from your company”…..who are you hanging with? what are you listening to? you become the company you keep, don’t have with company that is going to pull you down hang with people that are going to lift you up and encourage you in the word. As we have all heard “trash in trash out”. What are you putting into your mind today?

  7. When God, your God, enlarges your land, extending its borders as he solemnly promised your ancestors, by giving you the whole land he promised them because you are diligently living the way I’m commanding you today, namely, to love God, your God, and do what he tells you all your life; and when that happens, then add three more to these three cities so that there is no chance of innocent blood being spilled in your land. God, your God, is giving you this land as an inheritance—you don’t want to pollute it with innocent blood and bring bloodguilt upon yourselves.

  8. 19 then do to the false witness as that witness intended to do to the other party. You must purge the evil from among you. (NIV)

    “Do unto others how you would like to be treated yourself.” If we impose this “golden rule” for positive behavior, why is it so hard to believe the same should be done for punishing negative behavior? Though we shouldn’t take our own revenge, we must remember to obey and trust God even in times where we aren’t treated so nice. We want to purge the evil, not play with it and cause it to grow; allow God to fight your battles and victory for you will prevail in Jesus Name.

  9. Deut. 19:2 (NLT)
    “Then you must set apart three cities of refuge in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”

    JESUS is our place of refuge.
    Ps. 46:1, “GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
    Ps. 119:114, “Thou art my hiding place and my shield, I hope in thy word.”
    Proverbs. 18:10, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

    Thank You JESUS for being our Refuge and Strength, our Hiding Place and Shield, our Strong Tower. We can run unto You, and we are Safe!

  10. 19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

    I am soooo grateful for THE BLOOD, but this should be enforced. We wouldn’t have as many accusers used by the enemy to slander and try to destroy people’s testimony. WE don’t need any help from the enemy!!! WE can do plenty bad all by ourselves!!!

    Thank you JESUS!!! I stand this morning and PRAISE YOU JESUS!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  11. Deuteronomy 19:20-21 (NLT)
    20 Then the rest of the people will hear about it and be afraid to do such an evil thing. 21 You must show no pity for the guilty! Your rule should be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

    Greater than guilty.
    When the law was written the people were told to not show any pity, yet when Jesus came to the woman caught in adultery he said he without sin cast the first stone.

    He said in his sermon not eye for and eye
    Matthew 5:38-39 (KJV Strong’s)
    38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

    So why the change?
    Because there is something greater than guilty, greater than accusation, and greater than rendering judgment.

    Our love for one another should be so great that we can’t possibly fathom injuring another even if we are injured.

    Our lifestyle of forgiveness should supersede our desire for vengeance.
    We should want their salvation more than our vindication.

  12. 19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you

    You reap what you sow! So if the only thing you are reaping into this world is negativity, odds are it will be all you receive back. But if you are reaping positivity and keeping a good attitude, people will do the same unto you!

  13. 2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

    3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.
    These biblical Cities of Refuge are a slight comparison today of the house of God or the church house. House of God is a place that we can escape where no one will judge us but we can seek the mercy of grace of God. these biblical cities of refuge are a slight comparison today of the house of God or the church house. a place that we can escape where lives are transformed and we can receive redemption. It’s our house of God today.

  14. 5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:

    11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:

    We find here the comparison of two different attitudes. One willfully harmed someone and one accidentally harmed someone. One found grace and mercy in the city of refuge, the other was put to death for willfully harming a person.

    Spiritually the bible says love covers a multitude of sins. When we sin unknowingly the love of God covers us when we ask forgiveness and washes us clean. However, when we willingly sin, we are risking our covering, because the Word tells us…he that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin. We may not find the pathway to forgiveness.

  15. 18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;

    Tell the truth…
    If I’m gonna be a witness, I need to tell the truth, and don’t add too, don’t embelish! If I’m understanding what I read, it will be done to me what I intend to happen to my brother/sister…God is a just and generous GOD

  16. 14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

    15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

  17. 19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

    20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

    21 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

    It is up to us to be wise enough to learn from other people’s mistakes

  18. 8 “And if the Lord your God enlarges your territory, as he swore to your ancestors, and gives you all the land he promised them, 9 you must designate three additional cities of refuge. (He will give you this land if you are careful to obey all the commands I have given you—if you always love the Lord your God and walk in his ways.) NLT

    8 And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;
    9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three: KJV

    From H5782 a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch)

    Anytime God enlarges your coast there are more opportunities for the enemy to attack. Setting up watchtowers or cities to keep an eye on your ministry, marriage, home life, work,etc. will help you see attacks before they hit. Always have a waking eye on your coast.

  19. A Place of Refuge

    7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
    8 And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;

    It is good to have a place to run n to and be safe. JESUS IS THE PLACE OF REFUGE NOW.
    Isaiah 25:For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
    5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.

    He is my REFUGE AND MY STRENGTH. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    Must of all the verses that speak of God being a refuge are the Psalms. It does not surprise me for its one of my favorite books of the bible. David was a man after God’s own heart, we need to be like David in the way he NEEDED GOD. We need to really NEED HIM, YERN FOR HIM, LOOK FOR HIS PRESENCE, AND THEN REFUGE OURSELF DEEP IN HIM. Psalm 18:1 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
    2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
    3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
    LORD HELP US IDENTIFY OUR NEED FOR YOU IN OUR LIVES. SHOW US THAT SECRET PLACE, WHERE WE CAN RUN INTO AND BE SAVED!!!! In Jesus Name Amen

  20. OPTIONS AND ACCIDENTS

    4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;
    5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:

    The LORD our GOD is so wise he has established principals for every possible scenario in life. Life is full of OPTIONS AND ACCIDENTS. This chapter made me chuckle in verse 5. However as I consider how REAL verses 4 and 5 are, GOD in his infinite wisdom saw, neighborhood and hunting accidents where people are harmed unintentionally.

    Usually how we examine and evaluate our options is how we find ourselves in the care of JESUS. If we consult JESUS, The WORD of JESUS and the man of GOD in our lives, our OPTIONS narrow and our ACCIDENTS minimize. GOD help us to care for the right options and know to run to JESUS if there is an accident.

  21. A REFUGE, A SAFE PLACE TO RUN TO

    4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;

    Our Lord is Our Refuge in time of trouble. Most of the verses written in the bible that speaks about God being our refuge are in the book of Psalm, one of my favorites. David is called a man after God’s own Heart. I don’t know if he always needed a refuge because he will mess up or because he learn what we need to learn; that WE NEED GOD IN ALL WE DO. THAT WE CANT LIVE WITH OUT HIM, BREATH WITHOUT HIM, NOR HAVE OUR BEING WITHOUT HIM. LORD HELP US UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU AND THAT ALL WE ARE, ALL WE DO, AND ALL WE WILL BE, ITS IN YOU, BY YOU, AND FOR YOU.
    My favorite Psalm 18:1 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
    2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
    3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

    My son’s favorite who now resides with the Lord Psalm 91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide [1] under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

    We can probably put the whole books of Psalms. TODAY, LETS AFFIRM THAT JESUS IS OUR REFUGE, OUR SHELTER IN TIMES OF TROUBLE. LET US FIND THAT SECRET PLACE WHERE WE CAN HIDE AND REST IN JESUS NAME AMEN.

  22. An eye for an eye.

    As we read here. There is justice in God. Thank you Jesus for his grace and mercy. He is all that I need.

  23. “15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

    16 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;

    17 Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

    18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;

    19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.” (Deuteronomy 19:15-19 KJV)

    There are a few reasons I know which would make someone play the false witness card. They got bribed into doing it, support a friend, or maybe was done by force to avoid a terrible consequence. Whatever the reason may be, if you get caught, you’re in trouble buddy. Verse 19 says, “Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.” What happened to “prize” that was offered to help spread a lie? Was supporting a friend with this lie really worth the consequence you’re about to face? Does the threat which you were threatened with sound more terrifying than the punishment you’re about to receive? “… so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.” Whether it was the prize, the friend, the terrifying consequence, or however one wants to justify themselves, it STILL described as evil. When walking with Jesus, we must follow His commandments by His standards, not ours.

  24. Deuteronomy 19:14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbor’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

    Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

  25. Deuteronomy 19:1 When the Lord your God has destroyed the nations whose land he is giving you and when you have given them out and settled in their towns and houses then set aside for yourself three cities in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess. Determine the distance involved and divided into three parts the land of the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance so that a person who kills someone may flee for refuge to one of the Cities.

  26. 18 The judges must investigate the case thoroughly. If the accuser has brought false charges against his fellow Israelite, 19 you must impose on the accuser the sentence he intended for the other person. In this way, you will purge such evil from among you.

    For what ever sin we commit, God is going to judge us for it. In the world, judges are to determine our fate also, if you commit a crime you will pay for it. If found innocent, you will be free.

  27. In this scripture, we see evidence of the strict compensation of the law, or commandments of the Lord. A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye! But, Jesus taught us to pray for our enemies and to love them.

    Ref: Matthew 5:44

    But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

    “Love is the answer”…………..

  28. 9) if thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them which I command thee this to love the LORD thy GOD and to walk in his ways then thou add three cities more for thee beside these three

  29. Speak No Evil
    vss.18-19 And the judges shall make diligent inquistion: and, Behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
    Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

    One of the best ways to avoid personal conflict is to abstain from talking negatively about others. If we speak evil of our brother we are assuming the role of a judge

    1 Thessalonians 4:11. ” And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you'”

  30. “Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.” They were forewarned on what not to do. Deception will allow one too believe a lie, and show pity where one should not. Obedience to the word of God (Jesus) will afford a Nation peace and prosperity; whereas disobedience will only make way for the deceiver (satan). Dear God, open our eyes too deceptive acts; so that we will not have pity on what we should not, in Jesus name. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  31. 18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; 19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

    There was a need for law and order then, just as there is today. There have been many horrific actions, which is all the more why we should pray that our judges believe in the Lord. God help our judges do what is right in your sight, in Jesus name.

  32. 15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

    16 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;

    17 Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

    18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;

  33. 9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

    The more land He gives us to abide over requires a larger place of refuge. I believe that God has to grow us from within. Were we once could only handle so much He stretches us to handle more because the souls of this region are placed in our hands.

    He needs a people that is ready to be a place of refuge for the souls of this region. Not by their own power but by His Spirit. His spirit will lead them to all truth we are just a vessel to lend a helping hand and a listening ear.

  34. 8 And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;

    It so important to live righteously before God for many reasons. One that I want to focus on is our children. In these two verses we see, that the faithfulness of the fathers was inherited by the children. No matter how strayed the children were, the promise God made to the fathers was always remember.

    We have the privilege to give our children a blessing they didn’t not work for or earn. It is our faithfulness God will honor and bless our children as well. So never give up on any good works or your sacrifices in your walk, that if you do not see the fruit, God is faithful to bring fruit in our children’s lives, which is greater inheritance than worldly possessions.

  35. 9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

    Keep, obey, love!!! I have never read in full this book the more I read it the more I fall in love with because it talks about the obedience. Many times as humans we don’t want to listen to anybody but its so important so that can Bless and add things got way. I am a living testimony of it….. The more I let God just take over my life the more He gives me. Thank you Lord because you are so good and your mercy and grace endure forever. Your the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. HALLELUJAH!!!!!!

  36. If you’re going to condemn a person for something you think they are doing wrong know that you will be judged for the same thing. Leave the judgement up to God and just focus on what needs to be done in your own life.

  37. 1 When the Lord thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;

    May the Lord make of Fort Worth a city set apart, a city of refuge a city completly given to the Lord Jesus.

  38. 15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

  39. Moses begins his work on the laws of Isreal in the same way Jesus did: Love the Lord your God Deut 6:5. Love your neighbor as you love yourself ( Mtg 22:37-40). Loving God and loving others is inextricably linked. In this passage Moses explains the the laws of love regarding taking another’s property or reputation . moving the stones is equivalent to stealing the land. Individual reputation is guarded just as zealously. In fact, those who bring false charges as to suffer the same punishment they had hoped would be given to the one accused. These laws are good reminders that respecting someones reputation is as important as respecting their property.

  40. 14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess

    God was adamant that each family keep their inheritance and that it be returned if it was sold in jubilee years and here they were to keep the borders and boundaries intact. Greed is a human trait!

  41. 2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

    Why should we be seperate from the world? Because we cannot be a safe haven for people who are looking for a light in the middle of darkness if we ourselves are in the middle of darkness ourselves. When people go to rehab from different addictions, they go to places that are away from the distractions of this.

    For us to be able to reach and save people that are being in spiritual darkness, we need to be seperate from the world so we can be a safe haven for those people.

  42. 14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.

    Each of us have our own landmarks in our lives that Jesus uses to remind us of where He has brought us from. Sometimes we need to revisit them so hat we don’t loose sight not only of our inheritance with Him, but also of the fact that we have to reach for more souls…
