1 Samuel 23
1 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.
2 Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
3 And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
4 Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
5 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
6 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.
7 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.
8 And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
9 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
10 Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.
12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up.
13 Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.
14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
16 And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
18 And they two made a covenant before the Lord: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
19 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.
21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.
22 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.
23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.
24 And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
25 Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David; wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
27 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.
29 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.

All I can say is wow. God really brought Saul out of his distresses.
I am very glad that I never had run away like Saul did. Having someone go looking for you would be an awful feeling. When I started getting my social security check I paid all my tickets added up to 900.00 in a 10 year time. Now if I get stopped or a trouble I no that I will be free.
Jesus paid for this for me just like He did on the cross. Now I’m free!! No more bondage no more chains. The Lord put me on solid ground.
Thanks for allowing me to be in the net (blog) for Jesus since he’s been so good to me.
21 “The Lord bless you,” Saul said. “At last someone is concerned about me! (NLT)
Saul was more concerned with himself, rather than God and trying to recognize His will. God is not a man that He should lie and His word will come to pass despite the individuals involved – like Saul who try and prevent it. “I decrease as You increase. It’s all about You, it’s not about me.” Wash us of all pride and selfishness Lord for it’s “Thy kingdom come and Thy will be done!”
GROW RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
10 Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.
12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up.
David is in a tough situation in his life. Hunted like a fugitive, sought like a prize and bound like a prisoner. David in fear could have just ran for his life and been caught in a trap. However, even in his distress, he cried unto the LORD and the LORD, his GOD answered him clearly.
We are WISE to seek the LORD and even WISER to wait on an answer from the LORD.
Too often we tell GOD what we need (as if he doesn’t know) and then when doesn’t answer or supply it right away, we GO anyway, most often causing great damage and loss.
David was specific in his request to the LORD, the LORD was vague in his response to David. Knowing the life and death of the situation, David asked the LORD the same question a second time before he moved forward. The LORD was very direct with his answer and David was no doubt thankful that he patiently waited for the LORD to answer.
David knew to GROW RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD was his life purpose and I pray that we realize the same.

God’s Protection
14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
When you are obedient to the Lord, His protection will reach you even in the wilderness!!!! Our God is so good!!! We serve a Mighty God!!! Thank you Jesus for your banner over us is love.

16. And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
A great example for us to follow today – when our brother is in need, we should go to them and strengthen their hand in God.

We see here that David sought the Lord’s will and advise every step of the way. He had a relationship with God and God led him through every obstacle.
Selfish agenda.
Because of one man and his selfish desires he sought out to kill. To kill somebody from a personal situation. A problem that could had been done personally. He left and left the Isreal valuable and open. That’s when the enemy attacked.
Leaders should not let personal problems distract us from the main plan( the gospel and reaching and protecting).
17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
We walk by faith, not by sight. We must trust the Lord at all times, not just in times of trouble. In times of rest and peace, we must still be aware of our need to seek the will and direction of the Lord.
Stay faithful and obedient to the Lord, wait on him for he is good and he will never fail you.

28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.
The name of the place means cave of escape or cave of divisions. Saul had almost gotten David and would have surely killed him. The demonic raging drove Saul to the point of madness. At one time David’s playing gave him relief and now he was out to get the one who at one time helped him.
However when all seemed lost, when it looked like time had ran out, the Lord showed up. God will keep his word. Every promise he has made will surely come to pass. It is up to us whether or not we are going to hold on to the end or give up right before he comes through.
3 And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
This verse stuck out to me the most! We must become desperate for God more than our flesh! We must be willing to sacrifice more than we ever Have! God is not looking for half commitment he’s looking for a relationship! He’s looking for us to make ourselves available to him! Change your agenda and turn your ears towards heaven!

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
Encourage your brother/sister in the LORD!
David kept the communication line with the Lord open enquiring of him daily numerous times what he should do or no do. The Lord delivered David out of the hand of Saul and kept him from harm.
If we will be obedient to the voice of the Lord as it speaks softly into our spirit or thunders to us from His word, we will be kept in a safe place. Trails and test may come, but we will be kept in safety and will not be destroyed.
16 Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God
We need a friend that will encouraged you in the lord
A friend in bad time will stay by your side and help and lead you in the right way to stay strong and pray in the bad time and laugh and play in the good time we need to be that friend that help them stay strong in the lord
This came to me for our backside family and friends we need to that type of friend that will lead our friends and family in the way because when it all come down to it they are watching us. They way we act and treat people
4So David asked the LORD again, and again the LORD replied, “Go down to Keilah, for I will help you conquer the Philistines.”
Continue and ask the Lord what your needs are, never stop asking. God answers our prayers in due time.
David went before God asking what he should do. The message version says the second time God told him to get going! David had to continue trusting in Gid even during this matter of life and death. We must kniw that God has it already taken care of. Keep trusting no matter what the sit u at ion looks like.
27 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.
29 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
Verse 2 NKJV “Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines, and save Keilah.” We too should seek direction from the Lord before doing anything as David did.
2 Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
One word. GO! Jesus said Go.
4 Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
God is a keeper of promises.
21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.
Less of me Lord, I need more of you! Don’t be like Saul worrying about his own selfish desires and not what God wanted him to do. The will of God will always prevail, no one can stop it.
2 Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
it’s amazing David’s wisdom He always inquired of the Lord before he made any major moves. This allowed him to accomplish multiple victories even when the odds were against him it is important to learn from David the value of seeking the face of God first before making a major move. It could be the difference between life and death
You can’t keep hiding from your problems…
David continues on the run. Saul still pursues him with his blood thirsty rage.
Here Saul is in hot pursuit of David. He can’t seem to catch up with him; yet Saul’s son Jonathan finds a way. Jonathan offers comfort and encourages David to look to God. He reminds David of his frightful place is future King. He offers him hope. He confirms God’s plan, and the friends make a covenant for the third time (vs 17-18). This third covenant goes beyond the earlier two (1 Sam 18:3; 20:16-17). This new agreement between the two men places Jonathan in a position as a second-in-command to David, offering the benefit of rallying together the followers of both David and of Saul.
2 Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
The word tells us to not lean on our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge God and He will direct our paths. Here is a very good example from David as he sought the Lord for guidance. It would be very wise of us to continue in this lifestyle and ask God before we do anything
11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.
12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up.
“And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.” The word of God (Jesus) illustrates delusion. They thought they were doing what was right; however we now know they were not. History, to include recent, shows that there have been many leaders that were perceived as doing what was right; however they were anything but. The antichrist will also deceive many, which the word of God (Creator & Judge) clearly warns about. Dear God, open our eyes and ears to the fact we must seek you in all matters lest we be deceived, in Jesus name. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

We can never go wrong in asking the Lord; whereas we can, when we do not. God help us to comprehend the importance of seeking you in all things, in Jesus name.

1st Samuel 23:4 Once again David inquired of the Lord and the Lord answered him. Go down to Keilah at for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand. So David and his men went to Keilah fought the Philistines and carried off their livestock. He inflicted heavy losses on the Philistines and save the people of Keilah. Now Abiathar son of Ahimelek had brought the ephod downin with him when he fled to David at Keilah.
4. Once again David inquired of the LORD, and the LORD answered him, ” Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand.” 5. So David and his men went to Keilah, fought the Philistines and carried off their livestock. He inflicted heavy losses on the Philistines and saved the people of Keilah. TRUST IN THE LORD !!!!
“David was told, “The Philistines are fighting against the town of Keilah. They are stealing grain from the threshing floors.” So he asked the Lord for advice. He said, “Should I go and attack those Philistines?” The Lord answered him, “Go and attack them. Save Keilah.”
Once again David asked the Lord what he should do. The Lord answered him, “Go down to Keilah. I am going to hand the Philistines over to you.””

David sought God for direction.
