2 Kings 7

1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.

11 And he called the porters; and they told it to the king’s house within.

12 And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

13 And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.

14 They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.

15 And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

16 And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord.

17 And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

18 And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:

19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

  2. We must be careful what we declare, voice or speak into our lives. Unbelief is the absence of faith. The disbelief of the king’s attendant brought forth his demise and therefore he could not partake of the blessing of God. Lord help us to grow in every avenue of lives, extending our reach and our walk with you.

  3. 2.The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”

    20. And so it was, for the people trampled him to death at the gate! NLT

Oh, how often our mouths get us in trouble! If he had held his tongue and doubted in silence, he could have lived to partake in the miracle and been made a believer!

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

God does not want us to just sit. He wants us to get up and do something for the betterment of his kingdom.

  6. 19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died
It’s sad to see the servants lack of faith in God and the prophet. Had he believed he would have been able to see and experience the great things ofGod. But because of his unbelief not only did he not see it but he died because of it.

  7. 8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

God was preparing a miracle for Israel and needed these lepers to pass the news along so Israel could receive it. Had they not been willing vessels to be used to go into the city, then to spread the good news, they could have missed what had planned. But thank God for people willing to share the gospel, the good news of what He is doing! It will bring miracles into the lives of those who come to see.

  8. 4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

  9. “The king’s officer had replied, “That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!” And the man of God had said, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” And so it was, for the people trampled him to death at the gate!”
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭7:19-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Don’t let your unbelief get you killed… As a church we have to believe in the vision. If one of you don’t you fall…

  10. 2 The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” (NLT)

Many read this now and gasp at how one could so gravely doubt God, but how many of us allow doubt to creep into our minds when we face our own personal seasons of drought. God help our unbelief and let examples in Your word, like this, teach us to put all of our faith and trust in You.

  11. 2 Kings 7:8-9 (AMP)
    8) When these lepers came to the edge of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried away from there silver, gold, and clothing, and went and hid them. Then they went back and entered another tent and carried (come valuable things) from there also, and went and hid them.
    9) Then they said one to another, “We are not doing the right thing. This is a day of good news, yet we are keeping silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment (for not reporting it now) will come on us. So now come, let us go and tell the king’s household.

There are some who come to church and get feed and blessed, feed and blessed, feed and blessed, and never share what God has done for them with anyone. This Is Not The Right Thing. This Is Not A Day To Keep Silent. (For if our gospel be hid, it is hid to those who are lost. 2 Cor. 3:4). THIS IS A DAY OF GOOD NEWS! GO and SHARE the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST with SOMEONE!!

  12. 18 And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:
19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

  13. THE UNEXPECTED BLESSING OF MOVING FORWARD

The unsolicited, unique opportunity that was presented to 4 outcast, handicapped men. They were considered unclean because of their infirmity. However they were presented opportunity to move forward.

Frequently in our lives we are considered the underdog or outcast and the fear of that situation causes paralyzation. I pray today that we are inspired, even against all odds to progress toward JESUS and follow after HIM. Take advantage of any and every opportunity to make progress by refusing to sit idle and die.

Revival NOW is an opportunity and a charge to move forward in the HOPE that has been delivered to us as children of the most high GOD (JESUS).

  14. 2 Kings 7:17 Now the king had put the officer on whose arm he leaned in charge of the gate and the people trampled him in the gateway and he died just as the man of God had foretold when the king came down to his house. It happened as the man of God had said to the king. About this time tomorrow a Siege of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the Gate of Samaria. The officer had said to the man of God look even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens could this happened ? The man of God had replied. You will see it with your own eyes but you will not eat of it! And that’s exactly what happened to him for the people trampled him in the gateway and he died.

Unbelief always leads to crisis and death

  15. 2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

We must consider our response before saying it. Many times we respond before we think. If the servant would have thought first he would have realized his response showed doubt. Scripture declares to us that we shall have what we say. He response of doubt ensured that he would see what the prophet said come to pass, but be unable to partake in it.

Many times we too respond with doubt instead of faith, and possibly that could be what is hindering us from receiving what we have prayed and expected from the Lord.

  16. Missed Opportunities

The four leprous men discussed their options; if we stay here we die, if we enter the city we die – what do we have to lose? They enter the Syrian city. They had no idea what Elisha had prophesied. They did what they thought was best for them to survive. God took their actions to meet the needs of His people.

How many times have we stood at the door of an opportunity and not proceeded through. How many blessings have we missed personally due to our inactions? How many blessings have others missed due to our inaction?

  17. 2 kings 7:1-2 this part in the chapter is about faith in this verse the officers didn’t believe what eilsha was saying he didn’t have faith because he didn’t have for what the man of god was saying he missed out on what God has in store for him. In verse 2 NLT elisha said to the officers you will see it with your own eyes. Something happens again in 7:18-20. I believe if god said it its ture i don’t want to question myself if it’s true or not. I don’t want my unfaithfulness to miss out on what God has in store for me

  18. 19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

  19. 5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

My God can do the impossible and if he be for us then who can be against us!
He is mighty in battle and worthy to be praised. He can take the rejected and bless them through other people. I’m sure I god would have open thief eyes then they would have seen the host af angels that were really making that noise in the chapter we just read yesterday

  20. 1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

Never doubt what our God can do! When you begin to doubt what the man of God speaks into your life you are really doubting God! Our God will always keep His promises, so when that spirit of doubt begins to creep up just remember how faithful He really is!!

  21. “4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.”

It’s time for a move Northward in faith! We can’t sit around and expect God to give us everything without an action of doing. Theres a purpose far more greater at the end of the road than just staying pleased with your spiritual life and how life may be going in general. We can’t stay still and expect souls to be saved on their own , we can’t let other false doctrines be taught to the lost, we MUST move Northward ! No matter the storm, drought, or fire that it takes to get through …. The purpose and destiny that God has set will be WORTH the fight ! The devil may try to attack at all costs to stop you , but there is no devil or demon in hell that can stop the gospel from being spread! We have work to do! #MovingNorthward

  22. 3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

Our God can heal any type of disease or sickness, so we don’t need to doubt him or lose faith in him!!

  23. 19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

  24. 19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.

Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethen, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God

  25. The unlikely get the blessings.

8And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.
9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

  26. iLove to Grow in the Word
“Finally, they said to each other, “This is not right. This is a day of good news, and we aren’t sharing it with anyone! If we wait until morning, some calamity will certainly fall upon us. Come on, let’s go back and tell the people at the palace.””
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭7:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We should always share the good news, which is the Word of God. Wow, this is an impacting statement by lepers .

  27. 4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

We want to do something but GOD has the last Word!

  28. 2 The attendant on whom the king leaned for support said to the Holy Man, “You expect us to believe that? Trapdoors opening in the sky and food tumbling out?” “You’ll watch it with your own eyes,” he said, “but you will not eat so much as a mouthful!”

Don’t doubt the man of God you may miss your blessing! Because you lost faith you can lose you blessing and watch everyone else get their blessing but you. Don’t forget the one that died for you and think that just because he didn’t answer when you wanted him to that he can’t or won’t do it, because he can on his time and maybe he wants us to see how much our faith is to trust in him! Thank you God for being my provider! let me not forget who you are and what you can do just because a little storm came my way but trust and put faith in your word!

  29. 2 Kings 7:19-20 (KJV Strong’s)

Be careful how you take the word of God. Your blessing could become your undoing instead. This man spoke against the man of God and what would have helped him became his execution. We must hold the word of God in high esteem and great respect.

  30. If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’–the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.”

The lepers saw that if they stayed in their current situation that they were doomed to die. However, if they risked their lives and left to the Arameans they have a chance at living. We have to make up in our minds like these lepers that we aren’t going to stay in our dying situation. That we would rather step out and trust that the Lord is going to make a way when their seems to be no way. As soon as they did God moved in the miraculous cause them to hear the sound of a great army with horses and chariots allowing them to hear the armies of God that they became afraid and fled. When God shows up the enemy has to go!

  31. We must be careful of what we speak and decree not just within our own lives but also within the lives of others. The lepers saw that if they stayed in their current situation it would cause more distress. They found faith within them to lift up praise to God in their situation. Sometimes it could be God waiting on you to move and waiting on you to take your place of Praying, Fasting or even could be as simple as devoting time to him before God can move within your life the way that he wants to. Don’t limit God from giving you a blessing because of disobedience!

  32. 6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

  33. “Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.”(2 Kings‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

The downfalls we have are God’s opportunity to show his glorious power: his time to reveal to his people when their strength is gone. When we trust in the Lords strength when we are weak it gives him the power to move miraculously. Let me decrease that he may increase. Unbelief is a sin by which men dishonour God, and deprive themselves of favor. Such will be the portion of those that believe not the promise of eternal life; they shall see it at a distance, but shall never taste of it. Rebelling against and not trusting God leads to eternal death.

  34. 3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.

You never know what great impact one can have untill you get up and do something. It may just take a step of faith but here we see that staying still is death. We must be willing to go and grow the kingdom, and grow ourselves.

  35. 1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

Carnality at the wrong time can cost us everything. The thing about carnality is that being in that state causes what we say and do to be naturally warped into the mold of carnality, while being spiritual causes what we say and do to align with God’s Spirit. It starts with what’s inside us. One could ask “why should that man end up dead just because he had a question?” But the reality is it wasn’t just a question. Not only was it a judgment against God, and perhaps even mockery against the man of God but it revealed the state of his heart. If his heart wasn’t turned against God already, he would not have had those words come to mind to say. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks; this scripture warns that having a state of carnality within us will affect how we naturally interact with the world around us. By keeping ourselves away from carnality to be spiritually-minded, we are open to whatever opportunities God brings before us.

  36. 2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

God help us not to lean on our own understanding. Help us God to place all of our trust in you!

  37. Do something

3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

Don’t just accept your current situation, you can do something about it. If we always say” oh well that is just how it is” then things will never change. But if we GO do something about it then it’s likely to change. God blesses faith and work.

  38. 17 And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

19 And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

The word of God (Judge) illustrates insolence. One would be wise in whom one puts one’s trust (if they are a liar, supportive of immoral actions, proclaims all gods are equal, or it really don’t matter) as they are NOT too be trusted. Likewise one that will not pray and ask God for direction, and simply heeds their ungodly actions will have an opportunity to explain why, one day. Dear God, open America’s eyes and ears to you and your word. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  39. “Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.” They were partaking of a blessing; however they were convicted and so they shared with others. Once we have received from the Lord we are too share with others; however if we are unwilling, then we may also be susceptible to “some mischief”. God help us see the significance of sharing you with others, in Jesus name.

  40. When a person has a made up mind to achieve what others may think as impossible when God says it is possible, there is nothing that can stand in their way. Let the opportunities that God provides lead your footsteps to success.

  41. The miraculous is here and now, we just need to make up in our minds that there is only one way the way of the Lord. In the case of the captain he couldn’t see the ways if God he doubted anything to do with the miraculous that God is an able God. We can not please God without faith. Here is where the Lord shined the miracle could of been for the captain but his unbelief caused him his life.

Lord I pray that you show up and show out at POFW Revival this weekend.

  42. 6 For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

Why sit around waiting to die? For the moment you pick yourself up and go God will cause your enemies to hear you coming. The great thing is that you have nothing to loose and you have God on your side. To the enemy you will sound like a mighty army ready for battle. So Go and Grow!

  43. 1 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

    Hold your peace!

Some people say thus saith the Lord and the Lord does not say. The measure of a good prophet is your words coming to pass, like in 18 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

Gods word will never fail, so don’t look like a fool saying God said if God didn’t say.

  44. “Finally they said to one another, “We shouldn’t be doing this! This is a day of good news and we’re making it into a private party! If we wait around until morning we’ll get caught and punished. Come on! Let’s go tell the news to the king’s palace!””
    ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭7:9‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Self centered greed causes us to only think of ourselves. When good things happen in our lives we should be greatful to share. In sharing we help to being hope, tell of he wonderful things of Jesus, and we know that people often respond to it positively.

  45. 2The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!”

But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”

Once again, someone doubts what God can do. Not only God, but he doubted the man of God also. Unbelief leads to many questions and whether God is real or not.
