Esther 4

1 When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

2 And came even before the king’s gate: for none might enter into the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.

3 And in every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

4 So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

5 Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.

6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king’s gate.

7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.

9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

11 All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or women, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

12 And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.

13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.

14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

  1. Verse 14 AMP “For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?” Esther had a divine appointment and she now had to make the decision to keep it. Whenever we are in a predicament (so we may think), let us do as Esther and fast (seek the Lord’s direction) for we may have been put in this situation to help someone else (its not always about us).

  2. Esther 4:14, “For if thou altogether hold thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

When we come into God’s kingdom, it isn’t just for ourselves, but it is to help save others.

  3. Queen for a reason.

God has a plan for all of us. We may not have a position in a palace, and it may not be to save a whole nation, but it is our duty to be sensitive enough to recognize it and willing to carry it out when our time comes.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. NLT

  4. “…and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

When we are seeking God’s call on our life, following Esther’s example is a good idea. First, get all the support we can. Esther had Mordecai and the Jews pray for her. We need to get support in prayer from those who understand the decisions we are facing and those we have a relationship with. Second, we need spend time alone with God.

We all are pieces of a puzzle in the God’s Kingdom and working together we make a whole. Have you ever worked a jigsaw puzzle only to find a piece or two missing? It makes a difference if our piece of the puzzle is missing. We don’t have to be a part of the five-fold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) to be a part of puzzle.

There are those behind the scenes that are just as important. It is the ministry of Service. It is vital in a church. So many ministries are birthed out of ideas and if you just take a moment, that one moment in time … God will show you just what your hidden talents and gifts are to serve Him and serve others. You were called for such a time as this!

  5. 16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Esther was willing to break the law, using her position to help deliver the Jews. She was perfectly safe and could’ve set in her position and stayed that way and even just had mordecai placed in a safe place as well, but she used where God positioned her and used it exactly what God wanted. Often times, if not all times, we are placed in various positions for a special purpose; whether it is placed in a jail to deliver or placed in a position next to a king to deliver, that is God purpose for us all. We are called and positioned to deliver the captives and let God set them free.

  6. Esther 4:14, “For if thou altogether hold thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
the scripture shows us that Esther was in the Kingdom for the right reason. She was the right person at the right place at the right time. If we live our lives according to what God desires we will also find ourselves in the right place to be blessed like Esther.

  7. Esther 4:16 And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” 17So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.

Esther and Mordecai were willing to pay the price for their faith. This is a very touching story as you put yourself into the story and really meditate on the future of our world. If Isis threatened you at the point of death to worship the moon god allah, would you do it? Or would you like Esther and Mordecai stand up no matter the cost for your faith? There is a book being written even as we speak…what will the book say about our faith?

  8. UNDERSTANDING THE PURPOSE OF THE FAVOR OF GOD

14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

The greatest regret for us is to miss the opportunity and purpose for which GOD has placed us in HIS Kingdom. Pride, arrogance, stubborn and rebellious attitudes block or blind us from understanding and knowing the will of GOD.

Esther was placed in the position of queen because of the favor of GOD. Now we will learn of her FAITH and lifestyle. For some people a promotion, accomplishment, title or position result in controlling, self serving attitudes and spirits.

We must remember and consider when GOD blesses us and gives us favor it is for the purpose of HIS Kingdom. We are wise to consider and evaluate our decisions to see if we are making choices that will ultimately remove us from the opportunity to fulfill the purpose of the blessing and favor of GOD.

The FAVOR of GOD usually means an opportunity to look like a fool for HIS sake; see Noah building the ARK and Mary pregnant by GOD. Now we see Esther who has withheld her identity and is the only hope for her people. JESUS I pray your will for our lives to be revealed to us for the time and season that we live in.

FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  9. 14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”

    “such a time as this”

Don’t go through the preparation to be used, only to doubt your abilities at the time its needed most!

  10. 13 Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed.
14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” (NLT)

When there is trouble in the midst, it’s important we are alert and remember God is in control. If He’s in control, then there’s a greater plan at play that we just haven’t seen yet. Realize, if you are obedient, you are more than likely in the right place, at the right time and God will surely show His might.

  11. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

The wisdom and understanding of Mordecai is shown here and he surely taught Esther everything he could. Her demonstration of faith through fasting and humbling herself before God shows she too understood she could be placed in the position as Queen for such a time as this. So, what is our purpose in the kingdom? Seeking his will daily will help us accomplish whatever it is.

  12. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”
    Esther 4:14 NLT

Sometime god send people to help

  13. Esther 4:13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther think not of thyself that thou shalt escape in the King’s house more than all the Jews for if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed and who knoweth whether they come to the kingdom for such a time as this.

We don’t always know what God’s plan is for our lives but we must be ready to witness to others about the Lord Jesus Christ and not think of ourselves only

  14. iLove to eat the Word of God for Lunch
15Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16“Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same.

When seeking important decisions in life, this is a great scripture to follow…fast and pray for 3 days with no food and no drink…The Word of God is awesome 🙂

  15. 13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.

Do what is right for the body of Christ, not for yourself. Too many people are out for what benefits them. They do not consider how their actions or re-actions affect the entire body. If we are really hid in Christ and want His will and purpose to be accomplished, then our actions and re-actions will be kingdom minded, not self-centered or self-will.

Some say they are doing what God told them to do, but God is not the author of confusion or discord, and if what they are doing is bringing confusion and discord to HIS body, then it’s not the will of God, it’s self will.

Esther acted on behalf of the Kingdom, putting herself in the position that if she dies, she will die with her people. Not many are willing to sacrifice their will of the will of God.

  16. This chapter tells us to do what is right in the eyes od God and to put self away. One sure way to do this is by fasting and praying. They were willing to die, as a nation, great faith in Jesus

  17. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

So many people say they want to be used by God but when the time comes they sit around and miss their opportunity! Pofw we have been called for such a time as this, we cannot let this moment pass us by!

  18. Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.

6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king’s gate.

7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

  19. Esther 4:14 (KJV Strong’s)
14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Sometimes being quiet will lead to more trouble. Jesus said if we deny him before others he will deny us before the father in heaven. Speak up about Jesus and he will speak for you.

  20. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

The time to serve the Lord is now! We would not like to miss an opportunity to be used of God. We must step in faith and trust God for what you have no control over. He is the one that has kings hearts in his hands and turns them whichever way he pleases. Go and invite, go and teach, go and pray for others, go and preach, go and find the lost, go and make disciples, God in Jesus name! The time is now.

  21. Ester was ready to put her live on the line so her people can be save. How far are willing to go to help our lost love ones to be saved ? What am I doing to help them?

  22. ““Go, gather all the Jews that are present in Susa, and observe a fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids also will fast in the same way. Then I will go in to [see] the king [without being summoned], which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.” So Mordecai went away and did exactly as Esther had commanded him.”

It’s time to go and give your all. If I die I die … I want to give until there’s nothing but God left to give.

  23. 16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

There are some battles that aren’t meant to be fought alone. Pray with your brothers in Christ.

  24. 4 So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

Esther sent clothing to her uncle for him to come out of sackcloth and mourning. Little did she know it was for a much greater reason. She is called for a moment such as this. Esther has been elevated to queen to persuade the king to not king the Jews. This will be a great challenge but she has the opportunity to be used or another will.

  25. Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.(Esther 4:16 KJV)

Esther calls the people to unity by fasting herself and her maids. Three is the number of completion and the denying of self will help focus on God and his will that it may be done through her. She has been made queen for such a time as this. She will put her life on the line in faith that the Lord will make a way for her and the Jewish people.

We see in this particular chapter that Esther calls the people to unity by fasting herself and her maids. We also see that she puts her life on the line in faith the LORD will make a way for her and the Jewish people. She is called for a moment such as this. POFW and family let me remind you that we are called for such a time as this! Its no accident your here at pofw! Your here on purpose!

  28. Esther 4:14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Stay quiet and you will be replaced!

God gives us opportunities to do His will all the time. They may come in the form of giving someone money or praying for someone or talking to someone about Jesus. Opportunities that if they are not taken will be accomplished through someone willing.

We are living in the last days, I believe we are all called for such a time as this. We all inherit thru Christ the royal blood bring the news of salvation to those that need a savior.

  29. 16“Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”

We too should ask ourselves, “are we ready to die for our savior,”. If we’re ever in a situation like this, what will be our answer. If we are praising, worshiping and praying to our God, we should not hesitate to die for our belief.
