Acts 21
1 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
2 And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.
3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
7 And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
8 And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
15 And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.
16 There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
21 And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
31 And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
33 Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34 And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
36 For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
37 And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
38 Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
39 But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
40 And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

Verses 12-13 MSG “When we heard that, we and everyone there that day begged Paul not to be stubborn and persist in going to Jerusalem. But Paul wouldn’t budge: “Why all this hysteria? Why do you insist on making a scene and making it even harder for me? You’re looking at this backward. The issue in Jerusalem is not what they do to me, whether arrest or murder, but what the Master Jesus does through my obedience. Can’t you see that?” Our obedience is key. Trust in the Lord and there will be no question……Thy Kingdom.

For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. S o when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
Unwavering and unmistakable faith. Where’s your faith at?

When the apostle’s companions and the Christians in Caesarea heard this , they pleaded with him not to go to Jerusalem.but he could not sympathize with their concern. Their tears only served to break his heart. Should the fear of chains and imprisomment restrain him from doing what he considered to be God’s will? He would have them know that he was ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the mane of the Lord Jesus. All their argument proved of no value. He was determined to go and so they simply said “ the will of the Lord be done.”
It is difficult to believe that Paul’s parting words were spoken by a man who was knowingly disobeying the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We know that the disciples in Tyre told him through the Spirit that he should not go to Jerusalem. But did Paul know they spoke through the Spirit? And did not the Lord later sem to approve his trip to Jerusalem when He said ,” Beof fiedfor Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.” Two thing are clear First,Paul did not think his personal safety was the main consideration in serving the Lord second the Lord overruled all these events for His glory.

27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
Nothing could stop Paul from preaching the gospel, and telling people of Jesus. In the previous chapter he started that nothing could move him, and her we see his friends trying to warn him not to go… And this is the same man who put out a decree to kill those types of people. I wonder what would happen if we had that same tenacity to reach the lost

No matter the miracles signs and wonders that the church has by the power of God, we are going to battle the spirit of heresy and unbelief. I find that many may see it happen but still not believe the word of God no matter how much we prove it’s consistency from the beginning of time.
We must keep the faith to finish our race and not become disheartened because many will reject this doctrine that we preach.
Ultimately our goal is to finish this race and hopefully we will hear “well done thy good and faithful servant”

How can we expect to make it through judgment along with those willing to suffer and die for the Gospel if we expect living for it to be so easy?
Acts 21: 13-14 (Amp) Then Paul replied, What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart like this ? For I hold myself in readiness not only to be arrested and bound and imprisoned at Jerusalem, but also [ even] to die for the name of the Lord Jesus. [14] And when he would not yield to [ our] persuading, we stopped [ urging and imploring him]. saying, The Lord’s will be done! The key is being submissive and obeintent to the Lord.

Paul was determined to do the will of God. He proclaims here he is ready and willing to accept what ever consequences would come his way for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing was going to stop him. His determination continued though who knew there may be obstacles and even his own life endanger. The man of God spoke to us in The Holy Ghost last night about not having fear. Stepping forward to reach all Nations and to not be afraid in doing so. When God calls us I believe He will give us an added power surge in the Holy Ghost to be able to stand in the midst of adversity. I pray that we too as we face opposition will be able to continue in the mission God calls us to. People are going to rise and demand answers about what we believe and why ? We must be ready. In Jesus name.
Paul kept right on going for He knew where he had been what God had saved him from and what direction he needed to go in . He had a plan a purpose and perseverance which could not be stopped. Daily equipped for your Kingdom in Jesus name.

He was SOULED OUT……..if we aren’t souled out then there leaves room for meeeee, the world and all matter of sin. If any of these have rule over me, then I am not truly souled out!!!……….

4We went ashore, found the local believers,21:4 Greek disciples; also in 21:16. and stayed with them a week. These believers prophesied through the Holy Spirit that Paul should not go on to Jerusalem.
This is what a lot of folk don’t understand. Why did Paul disobey the Spirit of God that spoke through these other believers? The Spirit clearly speaks through these believers, so why did Paul still go anyway? This should teach each of us a very important lesson in life. Personal conviction goes deeper then finding an escape route sometimes. God might have been offering an escape route through other folks, but Paul’s heart was already made up to be bound for the Gospel. And the truth of the matter is, without Paul being bound, how much of the New Testament would have been written because he wrote most of his writtings while being incarcerated.

19) After greeting them, Paul began to give a detailed account of the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

Last night, it was good to see and hear about the things God is doing in the hearts and lives of other people in other countries. Hallelujah! Thank You JESUS!!

In the face of adversity even unto death, the apostle Paul was so committed to “The will of the Lord” that even he would not grow weary of the warnings from his own people.
Good intending people become bad influences in our lives when they are able to talk us out of the will of GOD. We must be SOLD OUT to the will of GOD and not allow anything or anyone to separate us from the Love of GOD and HIS will and purpose for our lives.
This demonstrates that we are SOLD OUT to Kingdom Commitment and nothing, including fear will be able to separate us from The WILL of the Lord.
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
In the Book of Acts, we see that prayer is an important part of their lives. They prayed from house to house, they prayed when they entered a place, and they prayed when they left.
Not only did they pray but they included the children with them. If there is anything to glean from the Book of Acts is the importance of Prayer, Outreach, and the Word… POW.
It reminds me of a superhero cartoon when one character goes in for a punch to hit someone the word POW would pop up. lol If we are ever going to hit the devil where it hurts our we must PRAY, OUTREACH, and read the WORD. 😉

Some shouted one thing and some and some other. Since he couldn’t find out the truth in all the uproar and confusion, he ordered that Paull be taken to the fortress. Acts 21:34 NLT
When confusion is present We are burnable to easily be persuaded.

Sometimes when the Holy Ghost gives us a message and in obedience we find out it will make us face some adversity we should have un shaken faith as Paul did. It’s part of our seasons we endure, living for God was never said to be easy and we have to face what comes our way with His help.

Paul shows such courage and un shaken faith in the ministry and teaching the gospel he was ready to die for the name of the Lord. How many of us are willing to do the same when that day comes?
“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”
Revelation 3:8 KJV
What will be our works?
9 He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.
I’m not sure when being married became the requirement for being used in ministry. Or that you had to be a certain age. There are multiple scriptures explaining a young person being used, or a woman being used.
The word of God that I read and believe, tells me in John 14:12 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
And in Heb 13:21 “Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
This doesn’t give a list of requirements; age, material status, or race. It does say you have to Believe in Him, have to be wellpleasing, and above all else we have to be willing.
If you want to be used in the ministry, serve. Be willing, and available!
Paul said, “No, I’m a Jew, born in Tarsus. And I’m a citizen still of that influential city. I have a simple request: Let me speak to the crowd.” Standing on the barracks steps, Paul turned and held his arms up. A hush fell over the crowd as Paul began to speak. He spoke in Hebrew.

When the time comes for you to stand for the Gospel, God will not send you unequipped. He will make sure you have everything you need who helped spread His Gospel. Whether it be money, resources, or knowing and understanding different languages and cultures to be able to relate with people God will make it happen we just have to understand when he’s opening doors and when we need to walk through. Paul was persuaded to complete the mission that God had given him regardless of the cost. We must be just as diligent and steadfast in our mission that God has given us as a church. There will be those who will not receive what we have to say. There will be those that are receptive. There will be those who will turn against us and cause havoc in our lives, nevertheless the mission is clear – impacting lives to change the world.

Not only did Paul declare the works of God to the Gentiles, they wanted him to see how many Jews were also believers. The church was growing but there were many Jews that were still against Paul and this growing New Testament church. How refreshing to see the videos from missionary trips and see the hundreds and thousands of people hungry for God around this world. I’m thankful to be a part of multicultural church who loves all people and desires to be a part of reaching this entire world.

The Will of the Lord often involves suffering.
The reason being, it may not always be what we want, it may mean leaving behind things we don’t want to, it’s means sacrifice, it means trusting in God even when we can’t see what He is doing, it means we’re going to walk through some trials, and there may be people that even try to persecute us.
But in return doing the Will of the Lord means He will give us a desire for the things we did not initially want, it means He’ll give us greater than what we left behind, it means He’ll bring us through those trials stronger than before, and with God on our side who can be against us?
God does not always let us know what He is doing or why He’s allowing certain things to happen in our lives. He wants us to learn to just trust Him.
You will always have fear and worry until you come to the place of saying, “Thy Will Be Done”
God is faithful and He is working everything together for our good, so must learn to simply trust in His plan!
“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”

It seems that even the elders in the church at Jerusalem could not grasp that Jesus had fulfilled the Old Covenant and instated a new one. Like many people today, they were content to add Jesus to their former religion and lifestyle, but they did not trust in and live for Jesus alone. So, they brag about their converts, who are also “zealous of the law,” and they form a plan to prove that Paul also still keeps the law. Then, while preaching that Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, they send Paul and four others into the Temple to offer sacrifices for their purification.
This reminds me of preachers today who baptize “in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is Jesus.” They see that the disciples baptized in Jesus name, but they feel safer combining their recent revelation with their old tradition. Lest they make a mistake, or offend someone, or face persecution, they live and preach a compromise. In fact, history records how the whole trinitarian doctrine was born of just such a compromise.
God has not called us to compromise. We are not to tack Jesus on to our lives in a convenient manner that pleases everyone and offends no one—or in a way that soothes our conscience while also allowing us to please our flesh. These compromises detract from the life, sacrifice, and message of Jesus Christ, and they give others cause to (either knowingly or unknowingly) blaspheme our Savior and His Gospel message.
Is the church tacked-on to your schedule, your lifestyle, your budget? It is time for us to rid ourselves of all half-heartedness, double-mindedness, and compromise. As the old saying goes: “Either Jesus is Lord OF ALL, or He is not our Lord at all.”
“But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.””

This Chapter made me thing of all the brothers and sisters that are preaching the gospel in many countries where they are being prosecuted for the love of the Lord and his word. We are bless to be in a country where we have the freedom to have a church to go and worship together.

So many people out there have no freedom to have a place of worship and so many people out there have die for the Lord. I wonder what we would do if we had no freedom?
Paul was willing to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus!!!
We (I) take for granted the freedom we have to serve God with our fear to be kill for the Lord sake. We should be able to go and outreach as many people as we can for the Kingdom, we have no persuasion. We have freedom to do what the Lord wants us to do in our city. Teach the Gospel with out fear!!! OUTREACH!

Paul would have made a good Boy Scout with their motto of “Be Prepared”. Paul was ready to be beaten and ready to die! He was ready to make the ultimate stand. Are we ready to do the same for Jesus?
This passage is one that catches the attention. More than one had come to prophecy of the same warning to Paul concerning his intended journey to go on to Jerusalem. ‘Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.’
His response is well known, but notice what follows. ‘And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done. And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.’ When they realized they could not persuade him, they ceased.
They spoke what needed to be said, and when Paul’s mind couldn’t be changed their response was the Lord’s will be done. No railing accusations, no incriminations, no extended discord… just let the Lord’s will be done. They disagreed, even some of those traveling with him disagreed, but they still went up in their carriages with him to Jerusalem. Their desire was that the Lord would continue to guide them together closer toward his perfect will, in Jesus name!
Josiah: 1 Peter 1:15-16 “But as he which hath called ye is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
As I was reading in 1 Peter this verse stick out to me because it shows what we are called to be. It is one thing to be righteous and separate from this world and it’s sin in obedience to the word. It is another thing to be holy and separate unto God, shown in our dedication to God. How we talk and how we speak is sometimes a key giveaway to those in the Church versus those in the world. Although holiness is more than how we talk, our conversation is a key part of holiness. What we talk about should not invite the things of this world into our lives, but should show how God is in our lives! So, let us GO BE HOLY IN OUR CONVERSATION because God is holy and has called us to be holy!
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
One thing I wonder and which answer I will probably have to wait to see (maybe ask myself.) Is why Paul continued onto Jerusalem with all the warnings of the harm to come and the pleading of saints for him not to go.
26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
Acts 21:14,15 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done. And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.
They made preparations.
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
But Paul said, “I am a Jew from Tarsus, in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; and I implore you, permit me to speak to the people.” So when he had given him permission, Paul stood on the stairs and motioned with his hand to the people. And when there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,

What sacrifice to finish the ministry of his calling. He was beaten and apprehended and all for the cause of finishing the ministry. He didnt just give up or accept that becuae he was bound it was over. But rather still manage to get up and seek to finish and deliver the message. At any cost the work of the Kingdom and message must go on. There is a Word to be told with an eternal outcome as a result. May we be encouraged to finish the race even when we seem or feel bound, and beaten by the world.
14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
As believers we can’t get in the way of the Lords will. We must be the ones acting and making sure His will get done. His will is far more important than what we might want to do or accomplish. He is the creator of this universe, how can we even think that our will must be done, or that we know more than God? We can’t let the flesh get in the way of the Lords will!! Lord help me be a key and not stumble for your will to be done.

Sometimes you have to go through hard things. When God encourages and warns you of these times you must hold to to the knowledge that he is with you and you are not alone. It’s not always easy to do what God has called you to do. Trust God. If he has called you to walk through difficult times he gives you the faith you need before the journey begins.
Shew if this ain’t a good example why we should be obedient to the Holy Ghost then I don’t know what is. We never know what the Lord is really protecting us from. That’s why we can’t get upset and stomp our feet when Jesus says no. He could be saving your life or keeping you from being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

When I first read this is shocked me.
Paul said he is a Jew and a citizen of tarsus. Looks like Paul was one of the first Jews who’s eyes were truly open to Jesus Christ.
