Read Proverbs Chapter 11

James 4

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

  1. 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

One thing that I have learned over the past year above anything else, no matter how well you think you are doing, we can not allow our selves to think more highly than we ought. No matter how well spiritually we are, we have to become more meek and mild. The scripture tells us that in Proverbs 16-

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

I have found that the more we are prideful and boastful about things, the more I feel that God will tests us to see if we can find some humility. I feel God does this because we have to remain humble and be true not only to God but also to ourselves. Just as verse 10 states above-

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

    1 Peter 5:6 states-
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

    2 Chronicles 7:14 states-
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

    1 Peter 3:8 NLT
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.

I am willing to state that there are many more scriptures that will tells us the exact thing that I am stating, humble ourselves before God first. When we seek first the kingdom in ourselves our attitude will reflect love, humility, and peace with one another and we will reap the blessings of God.

    1 Corinthians 13:1-3
1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Through our humility as we seek God I find it is much easier to resist the Devil and all of his games to deter you. Begin to speak the precious name of Jesus and all of Hell will tremble and be removed from before you. Seek God while he is near and give him every bit of yourself to him.

    I love the Kingdom!

  2. Verses 4-6 MSG “You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find. It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”

Colossians 3:12 CEV “God loves you and has chosen you as his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient.

Ephesians 4:2 CEV “Always be humble and gentle. Patiently put up with each other and love each other.”

James 4:7-10 CEV “Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Clean up your lives, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you people who can’t make up your mind. Be sad and sorry and weep. Stop laughing and start crying. Be gloomy instead of glad. Be humble in the Lord’s presence, and he will honor you.”

  3. 10. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

If we lift ourselves up higher than we should, God has ways of bringing us back down to earth and reminding us who’s who; but if we humble ourselves, then He will lift us up in His due time.

    Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

  4. James 4
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

    1 Peter 5:8-9 ESV

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

Submit stay close allow God to lead .
Push away from every temptation guard your thoughts through the word of God . When the enemy tries to trip you up be prepared speak against him and again submit to God call on God there is nothing to great for God. Acknowledge His power .
    In Jesus name.

  5. 6 But he giveth more grace.

Temptations will come, but we must resist them by looking to the Lord for strength to over come. Call on Jesus and he will be with you to help you overcome.

  6. We always everyday have to fight the good fight of Faith , We have to submit to The spirit of God so the flesh can’t have it’s way and the enemy will flee by
Being prayerful and seeking the Word……………. bread of life

    James 4:2-5, 7-8 NLT

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him. So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

    James 4:2‭-‬3 NLT
We constantly have conflict within ourself. How we handle that conflict determines the outcome. Are we going to war because we don’t get what we want or are we going to humble ourselves and be patient in waiting for the want to become available. I’m guilty; I have waged a personal war in the past because I wanted something so bad that it caused division within our house. Of course I was teenager, rebellious. Over the years I’ve learned that that patients will get you the things that you desire and now I’ve learned that it’s not only patience, but also prayer and humility. I’ve come to understand that I have to be a good steward with the small things before God will begin to open doors for greater things. Lord help me to be humble and consider the things concerning Your Kingdom. Thank you Jesus for calming the war that is within.

  8. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Alot of times we do the things that we do out of habits of our life before Christ, or we do what we do because that’s what we want to do! There isnt an excuse for sin, we cant go to God and say ” Please forgive me, I didn’t know what I was thinking, or doing,” We have to walk up to God and own up to it, Jesus, I know I was supposed to do this thing, or not do this thing, and in disobedience I didn’t. I dont have an excuse, and I’m asking for forgiveness, God already knows the truth as to why we did it, excuses at that point are futile! We are going to slip up at times,But to willingly sin. or willingly disobey God Or the Man of God is Sin! We have to realize that God has laid a plan out for the body, he already knows what body he was gonna have us in before we even got their, that’s why everything we do in the church is already planned, God already designed it, and if we all are where God wants us to be and when, there is usually no problems at that point! But when one thing is off, it is off! Sin is a big ole wrench that messes up everything in our life, just a little sin can tear us down, there is No big or little sin, Sin osSin and it will affect our whole lives!

  9. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up

It is said that it is our job to humble ourselves and it is God’s job to exalt us. Whenever we do his job he will do ours. Our main goal in life should be to just draw closer to Christ in every aspect. Learning more about his character and seeing through his eyes and learning more and more everyday how much we need him and how much he loves us. There are enough distractions in this world to lose sight of that which is why it is important that we must remind ourselves everyday why we are here in the first place

  10. James 4:6 But He gives us more and more grace
( power of the Holy Spirit, to meet the evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, But gives grace [ continually] to the lowly ( those who are humble enough to receive it. So be subject to God. [ Stand firm against him] and He will flee from you. [ Prov. 3: 34] Through He scoffs at the scoffed and scorned the scourners, yet He gives His undeserved favour to the low ( in rank), the humble, and the afflicted. Likewise, You who are younger and of lest rank, be subject to the elders ( the ministers and spiritual guides of the church) giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel] . Stay close to God.

  11. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Wow, when we speak against someone, we are speaking against the law of God. If we will remember that, it will make you think twice about saying anything about anyone. I thank God for His mercy that he is just to forgive us, however for His kingdom to grow we must lear to bridle or tongue. Speak well, learn much, and love God and His creation.

  12. iLove the Kingdom in Action
1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Think about this scripture. The Word explains here why there is disunity our lives. Have you ever been around someone who gets into an argument every time they are around? These individuals continue to bring quarrels every where they go. More than likely, these people have a battle raging inside them and have not found the peace of the Holy Ghost. These are the ones who give you the most issues at work. They are causing turmoil everywhere…why, because they have a battle raging on the inside of them.

The Bible shows us the example of one such man named Saul.

    Acts 9:4-5 KJV
    (4) And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
    (5) And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

You see, Saul had been fighting this inner war and it bled to the outside world and Saul destroyed everything in his path.

Those mean folks out there are the ones that God is really working on. They are mean simply because they have an internal war raging.

  13. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

That’s it?! People fight and fight until they’re so worn out they’re ready to quit; but your job isn’t to fight the devil, your job is to submit and resist. The fighting is God’s job. Jesus already defeated him so really all you gotta do is resist the devil by reminding him of that. Easiest way to do that? Shout The Name of Jesus!!!

  14. What do you know about tomorrow? How can you be so sure about your life? It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears. You should say, “If the Lord lets us live, we will do these things.”
    James 4:14‭-‬15 CEV

God knows our beginning of life, to the last day. It is His breath of life that has me alive for now, and i am thankful!! The LORD knows what is good for me.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord , and depart from evil.
    Proverbs 3:5‭-‬7 KJV

  15. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

There is much waste in the world today. Considering that anything I do without the will, direction and consent of the LORD will come to naught or nothing. Carnal people do things then ask GOD if it is ok. Considering this simple verse, it reveals quickly and clearly which Kingdom is FIRST in our lives.

If I seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD then I will naturally say, “if the LORD will, I will do…”

This is the greatest RESOURCE MANAGEMENT principal known to man. Stop wasting time, talent and treasure in stuff that JESUS has not ordained or called you to do right now. Everything in our lives should be founded on the principal of “IF the LORD Will”.

Ask this question to JESUS prior to every decision and watch your production and Faith increase.

  16. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

If we ask something of the Lord but it’s of Lust, God won’t give it to us because he doesn’t reward evil. God is a rewarded of Hollines we have to request something upon a good foundation. We need to evaluate our requests before requesting them. We need to be real with our selfs.

  17. “Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air]. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and we will do this or that.””
    ‭‭JAMES‬ ‭4:14-15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Life is short and there is always an uncertainty of what tomorrow may hold. This is not a cause to fear, but a reason to realize our complete dependence on God.

  18. “You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭4:2-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The reason these destructive desires exist among Us is because we do not seek God for our needs (we do not ask). James reminds us here of the great power of prayer, and why one may live unnecessarily as a spiritual pauper, simply because we do not pray, or do not ask when we pray.

  19. James 4::15,17

.15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

God has something for Christians to do and we should plan accordingly by First the Kingdom!

Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

.17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth if not, to him it is sin.

I Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

To do good requires including God in one’s plans. Omitting God is not merely bad planning; it is sin.

  20. “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭4:14-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    Ouch!!!
    Speak to me Lord!
How many times we ought to do things for God and in the middle of that race we give up. I am guilty of many things like that.
Our focus should be that we ought to the Lord. As we are sinners when we don’t do what we say we will do.

  21. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

  22. So god has adulterers and he knows that the friendship of the world is in god whosoever therefore be a Friend of the world of god than be an enemy of god.but we give more grace wherefore we saith god resisted he is proud

  23. AMP – 3 You do not have because you do not ask [it of God]. 3 You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask [d]with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.

hedonistic – engaged in the pursuit of pleasure; sensually self-indulgent.

Could it be that the reason we struggle so much financial as God’s people is because we ask Him to supply the needs, and then when He does, we spend it on other things?

God help us to be good stewards and managers of the money he has given us so that the Kingdom can be blessed.

I believe God does supply the needs, however He uses people to do that, and if people don’t honor Him with what He gives them, then the needs go unmet. God help us to be sensitive to the Kingdom matters.

I believe and have proven that if I will be obedient in giving, God will cause all my needs to be met.

  24. Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, NOT TO JUDGE WHETHER IT APPLIES TO YOU. God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?
    James 4:11‭-‬12 NLT

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: FOR THEY SAY, AND DO NOT.
    Matthew 23:1-‬3 KJV

And he spake this parable unto certain WHICH TRUSTED IN THEMSELVES THAT THEY WERE RIGHTEOUS, AND DESPISED OTHERS…
    Luke 18:9 KJV

One of the main dangers of knowing the law without truly having a relationship with the Law-giver is that we tend to apply the law to others rather than to ourselves. Jesus constantly accused the Pharisees of this kind of hypocrisy. They preached against sins in others that they privately entertained in themselves. Moreover, they were forever criticizing and condemning others for breaking minor ordinances while completely overlooking major offenses to God’s laws in the own hearts. They had an appearance of outer obedience, but their hearts were full of pride, covetousness, disdain for others, and adultery.

If we are not careful, we will do the same. It is easy to criticize others for doing things that we no longer do, while completely overlooking our own lack of love, as well as our own pride, arrogance, and selfishness. Do we enjoy telling others what laws apply to their current situation, while ignoring the laws that apply to our own? Do we listen to sermons with shovels in our hands, piling the Word up in our neighbor’s lap, so busy thinking that they need to hear it that we neglect to hear it ourselves—much less apply it to our own hearts? If so, we are missing holiness altogether, regardless of how we appear outwardly.

Similarly, we should beware when we hear ourselves speaking evil of, judging, criticising, and/or condemning others. Doing this, alone, makes us breakers of God’s laws and His heart. It is pure hubris to judge another man, for only God is righteous. Therefore, only He can judge. As such, our job is not to judge others for how they obey the Law, but to obey the God’s laws ourselves—to love God and to love others as He has loved us.

In short, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. Thus, if His love is in our hearts, it will be in our mouths also. However, if we are speaking uncharitably of others, it is an indication that it is our own hearts which we need to be judging.

  25. 16Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.

We all strive to better our lives, we want a better position, more pay, maybe better education. Once we meet our goals, yes you’ll feel pride for your accomplishment. But, don’t go bragging about to everyone, or how much you have, or position you have.

  26. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Being submitted to God, being humble before him and drawing close to him are the 3 keys according to his scripture to keep away from sin and also to seek a closer relationship to God. And it is not complicated, just be submitted to God’s word, being humble and not proud, dont be afraid to admit and fess up to your mistakes. You cannot ask for forgiveness for something you did not believe you did wrong. And just draw yourself closer to him, pray more, read the bible more and wait on his presence so that you can hear his word he has for you in your life.

  27. James 4:7 (msg)
“So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper.”

The one thing that came to my mind as I read this scripture was Pastor saying, “WAR CRY!” Because when we Shout, it puts the enemy (the devil) to flight.

  28. “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
‭‭# be humble and resist the devil 👿

  29. “What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?

    What is causing the quarrels

  30. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Do not speak evil against one another, don’t judge or talk about one another. Who are you to say something mean or gossip about someone when you wouldn’t want someone doing it to you. We really really need to think before we speak and not spread hatred but build up one another and show love to each other. When I think about my past and the things I have said and done and the skeletons in my closet I have no room whatsoever to say anything about anyone else. Everyone sins and what you do in private and in the dark will one day come to the light. Instead of talking about the person you should be praying and encouraging that person. We are all sinners saved by grace and what we’ve done is under the blood. Be supportive, understanding, and most of all loving. That person you judge may look put together on the outside but could be completely broken on the inside and you don’t want to ad to it and push them to their breaking point. Be blessed and encourage someone today and if you have someone on your mind after reading this, say a little prayer for them.

  31. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

We have two choices: to obey God or to do what we want. One leads to life and the other leads to destruction. God will not force us to obey Him. He will speak to us and remind us the truth but He will not force you to love Him. We must willingly turn from our sins and give ourselves 100% to God.

  32. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Submitting ourselves to God works hand in hand with resisting the devil. We can’t say we’ve submitted and then entertain sin. Submit, resist, and he will flee.
Draw nigh and he will draw close to you. Again, hand in hand. I’ve heard before, “I don’t feel close to God.” Have you prayed about it , “No”. Well, then there you go.
    —Double minded—

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

We don’t know what our life is tomorrow or what tomorrow holds so make today count. Make your mark. Before it vanishes away.

17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

This is one of my favorite verses. My parents used it on my brother and I as children. And I will use it on my boys as they grow up as well. It hits hard when you know you’ve done wrong.

  33. Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].
    JAMES 4:10 AMP
Humility is a quality we should pursue. It’s our responsibility to humble ourselves and not someone else’s. God can do it but He already set a law in motion. Humble yourself and He exalts you. Exalt yourself and He opposes you for God resists the proud.

  34. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
When we go searching and seeking things in this world and leave the things of God it is adultery to him.
The Lord will destroy any sin and any one who goes out to this world. The reward any one of us will get from in is death. When we sin it separates us from God. So then we have to start the process of being saved again.
Any one who is friendly with this world it is enmity with God. How would one be a friend to this world? By not telling others about God and his world. One we just let people around us talk bad and act ungodly. Yes we cannot make people not to sin but we don’t have to be around them.
We must be careful that we don’t go looking for this world instead of God.

  35. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

We are tempted by our own lusts, so being double minded brings it upon us. But if we purify our hearts, set our affections on things above, we are able to draw near him and he to us. There is such peace and love when in the presence of the Lord and it is the best thing to pursue.

  36. 4 You adulterers![a] Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

Adultery- voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse.

As the bride of Christ we are people. When we desire and friend the things of this world we are cheating on God. I can’t love someone else and say I love my husband. I can only love one Master. I could imagine that God feels betrayed, hurt, upset, let down when we turn our backs from Him and love this world instead of Him. The world is not going to give us what He gives us. This world is only a distraction that Satan uses to kill, steal, and destroy us. We can’t become adulterers but faithful to the one and only Master Jesus Christ

  37. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Sounds pretty simple to me, right? The prescription is easy to understand, but the pill is so hard to swallow.

The first ingredient in this recipe is to submit which no one wants to do these days, but if you cannot get the first ingredient then the whole thing is a miss.

Second is to resist the devil. If you really want to do that act, it is hard to resist the one tempting you with it. So the second may be just as tough to swallow as the first.

BUT. If we can practice this, The devil has a weakness that will be uncovered…. He cannot fight a long fight. If you resist him he will move on to the next one to tempt.

  38. What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
    James 4:1‭-‬3 NIV

Fleshy desires…. sounds kinda wrong when you say it…. It’s selfish motives eat at you like cancer. The battle between your flesh and spirit is never-ending. Even the slightest fulfillment of these desires could cause the tragic downfall. This is why when we are starting put certain things ahead of our kingdom work or even thinking of such things need to be gone to in prayer. Remembering that we serve a God who provides all that we will ever need. The struggle is real, the mind is weak, and the flesh is much to easily damaged.

  39. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The enemy will come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). The enemy doesn’t always come when we are seeking our flesh, because he showed up when Jesus was fasting in the wilderness. Really, he showed up to attempt to tempt God, robed in flesh. How ignorant? Either way it’s a great example to us today. When we try to focus on God, and silence our flesh with fasting it would seem to others we are vulnerable. As long as we fast for the right reason, in dedication and consecration then we are actually more powerful spiritually. When we have that kind of submission to God then when we stand firm and resist the enemy’s antics then he will flee. He may return at a later time but, this will teach us to be ready. Remaining humble and faithful to God will prepare us to recognize the things that are not of God and work to deny the flesh. When Jesus comes back for his church it will be for those possessing the Holy Spirit a bride without spot or blemish. We must learn to repent and die daily to flesh that we may obtain everlasting life. Our reward for this will be eternal with our Savior, who is the greatest example of conquering this world victoriously!

  40. The closer we get to God, the closer God gets to us. When you’re close to God, you know his heartbeat. You have a burden for lost souls. The enemy will try to make you doubt, but God increases our faith. With God we can do all things.

  41. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

What a great scripture for this Year. Seek First The Kingdom means to draw near to Him. Drawing near to Him means that we must resist the devil in every area of our lives.

My dad would always tell my daughter ”little girl your hands and your mouth are going to get you in trouble.” Yesterday James talked about the tongue getting us in trouble today its the our hands and heart.

We must guard the members of our body to ensure we are portraying Jesus in every way.

  42. “You don’t even know what tomorrow will bring — what your life will be! For you are like smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes.”(‭‭James‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭HCSB‬‬)

No one will know if they will see another day because God himself has the power to control our time. We can plan for tomorrow and it is wise to be good stewards of the time God gives us. We should work for the kingdom now, because the night comes when we can work no more (John 9:4). We are but dust of the earth that God breathed life into. One day we will return back to the dust which we came, but the Spirit of God will lead us to everlasting life.

  43. You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
    James 4:4 NLT

I’ve seen a lot of churches today begin to incorporate worldly fashion and concepts saying that they are try to make church comfortable for people to to church. When in reality the is no distinction between them and the world. They dont realize that in make church comfortable they are being enemies of God. Which is why we must continue to share the truth and God’s standards.

  44. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

This scripture is highly quoted and said and it is a good word to stand on. The thing to take note of is that you must first be submitted to God. Without being submitted to God I don’t think one would have the power to resist. One cannot fight the spiritual with flesh for our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces. So when we come under, submit, the authority of the Holy Spirit, then can we stand against the enemy, or take a stand against, resist, put force against the devil and he will definitely flee for he is not match for God.

  45. “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How many times have we quoted “resist the devil and he will flee from you?” We say it thinking temptation will go away but later wonder why we are still battling the same thing after we resisted the sin that was before us. But we forget what the first part of that verse instructs us to do which is to submit ourselves to God. The reason we keep battling the same issue is because we haven’t submitted ourself to God, we keep trying to resist temptation in our own but in reality we cannot do fully resist or overcome sin without God.

  46. “Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭4:11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬
There’s power in our tongue. It can give life or death. It can cause unity or division. We must speak life, peace and unity.

  47. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Why is the society consumed with putting value on any material thing? Why do we keep insisting on giving value to things that have no spiritual bearing?

We won’t be able to take our houses, cars, or things with us to heaven. Yet we don’t value what we can take to heaven with us, our kids, neighbors, family, loved ones.

We need to learn to ask for what God wants, so we can get what we don’t ask for that God knows we need.
