Job 7

Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:

So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.

My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.

My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.

O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.

The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not.

As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.

10 He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

11 Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

12 Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me?

13 When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaints;

14 Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:

15 So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.

16 I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.

17 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?

18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

19 How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?

20 I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?

21 And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

  1. “What is mankind that you make so much of them, that you give them so much attention, that you examine them every morning and test them every moment? Will you never look away from me, or let me alone even for an instant?
    Job 7:17‭-‬19 NIV
    https://bible.com/bible/111/job.7.17-19.NIV

Who are we, whom you never turn your back on. Why do you give us so much attention? God truly loves us.

    • He is ever beside us. He is the source of strength and oh yes how much He cares for every detail of our life.

  2. What cry for discomfort! I can feel his pain. Job is in constant discomfort and pain, but he still prays and cries out to God. He feels His presence so Job continue to battles for he doesn’t understand why can’t God forgive him. Job has began to believe that he has sin, although he checked himself out trying to look for the iniquities that could cause all his troubles and found none that could deserve such punishment from God. Still he repents, he searches for forgiveness and desires to commune with God. At this point he prefers death that to continue without God. We all have come to a place one time or another where all we have left is to call out to God and look forward to the grave. BUT THANK GOD HE REACHED OUT AND PICKED US UP AND SET OUR FEET ON SOLID GROUND!!! PRAISE GOD FOR HIS SALVATION IS HERE NOW FOR ALL OF US!

  3. 17-21 MSG
“What are mortals anyway, that you bother with them,
that you even give them the time of day?
That you check up on them every morning,
looking in on them to see how they’re doing?
Let up on me, will you?
Can’t you even let me spit in peace?
Even suppose I’d sinned—how would that hurt you?
You’re responsible for every human being.
Don’t you have better things to do than pick on me?
Why make a federal case out of me?
Why don’t you just forgive my sins
and start me off with a clean slate?
The way things are going, I’ll soon be dead.
You’ll look high and low, but I won’t be around.”

Even in the midst of the trial Job still remains purposed to know that God is still God and he has control on everything and every person that he created. Job has the audacity to tell God that he would rather die than to be placed in the position to tried or tested anymore. Sometimes this kind of attitude is a blessing in disguise. We as mortal humans have to be brought down to a level of humility to realize that we were past our limitations. We have to be reminded that we are only human and there are many things that we have to allow our creator to do and then we can be what we need to be for the kingdom.

I find that sometimes through every storm the darkest part of it is always the moments right before the light begins to shine. We can not lose hope that will cause us to lose our relationship with God. Because the things we speak can not be unspoken and the deeds we do can not be undone. We have to have faith in God to believe he will carry us when we can not carry ourselves.

The psalmist wrote in chapter 30:5

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Seek first the kingdom and let your self depend on the creator and see how he handles you for every step of the journey.

  4. Job 7 Message.
The message translates the entirety of a man in desperation
He even reminds God who created him he was just a mere moment in time ….
God, don’t forget that I’m only a puff of air!

The battlefield of the mind. This is where the enemy hits. Oh but I’d we will get into the word. There are treasures there is ammunition to combat the darts of the enemy. Not just reading but allowing what we read to cover our minds. Daily as LIFE fiercely runs rampant around us. We can have a peace but it must be found in the word . Word and Spirit they walk hand in hand .
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

This scripture reminds us that the Bible prepares us and sustains us for living and for handling the stress we encounter. It’s through reading scripture that we can get a better understanding of who God is and how He wants to work in our lives

    I’m Surrounded By You!
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles

It may look like I’m surrounded
    But I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded
    But I’m surrounded by You

  5. Sometimes we feel like God is so Far away. Like he’s too busy to see us . So we lose hope . We can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Job was like that he rather die he didn’t want to live . But he forgot while he’s hurting God is Working .

  6. 1“Is not all human life a struggle?
Our lives are like that of a hired hand,
2like a worker who longs for the shade,
like a servant waiting to be paid.

We work and many live paycheck to paycheck. Yes we may struggle to make ends meet, but it’s better than being a couch potato and not working. Many sit at home waiting for handouts and freebies. God will meet your needs, especially if you are doing your part by working. God sees your struggles, but be faithful in giving, and you’ll be blessed in return.

  7. 1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?
2 As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
3 So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

We only have so much time on this Earth before God calls us home and while it may seem like we have time it won’t be long before that time is up. We can choose to spend our days worrying about this and that or we can try to do our best to be used for the kingdom of God. There is nothing on this Earth that should trouble so much that we forget the ultimate destination in heaven. yes, we do need to take care of our responsibilities and it is only natural that we stress about them, but the point is that we ultimately leave it in the hands of God and let him do as he does

  8. “If I have sinned, what have I done to you, O watcher of all humanity? Why make me your target? Am I a burden to you? Why not just forgive my sin and take away my guilt? For soon I will lie down in the dust and die. When you look for me, I will be gone.””
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭7:20-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Job still doesn’t understand why any of this is happening to him. So his instincts say repent!
Several other situations in the Bible there are many people in distress and don’t know what to do so they cry out into the Lord and God delivers them. When it’s a test I guess it doesn’t work quite like that. We have to press through the test. You will make it through though in Jesus name!

  9. ““What are people, that you should make so much of us, that you should think of us so often?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭7:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Who am I that He would find me worthy? Well as one song so beautifully puts it: “Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done; not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are.” It’s not even about us, it’s about Him working through us, it’s about Him using us for His glory and for His Kingdom. Here we are all for You today Jesus!

  10. 17. What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?

Man may not seem like much to each other, but we’re God’s most loved creation that He came to Earth to suffer and die for, so keep that in mind the next time you’re feeling less than adequate.

  11. Job 7

1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

2 As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:

3 So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

    • Is there a time for Jesus to be on earth yes there is is a time for jesus to be on earth and heaven he is on earth to help people believe in him, make people have faith, make sure people go to church every Sunday and Jesus is a shadow looking for a servant and also looking for a reward for his work and so people can possess months of vanity and so people can be anointed with Jesus Christ Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end Bless the Lord it’s like presence shut up in my bones you are the one the one I desire your the all consuming fire

  12. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    OPPORTUNITY

1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

The FIRST question is really a confirmation. In the peril of his emotional pain, in search of a response or simple understanding as to what has happened in his life. Jobs desire to die is apparent and his plea with GOD is on the wise of lets get it over with.

We are wise to understand that our days on earth are appointed or for a season. Today the question of what am I doing with the OPPORTUNITY of appointed time here on earth.

When painful and perilous times come in our appointed time on earth we are wise to remember and understand that GOD has appointed this time as an OPPORTUNITY to LIVE for HIM and SERVE HIM. This lesson is often hard learned and hard to understand.

But, if we approach it as an OPPORTUNITY we are in greater position to understand the working of the hand of GOD.

WHY NOT JUST PARDON MY SIN AND TAKE IT ALL AWAY FOR ALL SO SOON I;LL LIE DOWN IN THE DUST AND DIE AND WHEN YOU LOOK FOR ME I SHALL BE GONE

  14. 11 Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

It’s evident that Job has lost his faith. We have all been in situations with the carnal mind we wondered would we ever come out. God is faithful and although it may look like we are alone we are not. God is still with us in the silence.

Yeah though I walk “through” the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.

I have walked through some physical valleys of death and done spiritual valleys of death, and both made me wonder “why God.” But deep within my being I had to gird up my loins and trust that when I cane out in the other side God I had victory.

  15. 12 Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me?

We are more than a whale.

Yes you are more than a whale in God’s eyes. He spoke everything into excistance except man, because He formed us out of the dust of the earth. We are created in the Likeness of Him. Yes we are more that the creatures of this earth and more than the universe. I love my God, my Savior, My King. Jesus, today i will serve you and your Kingdom. Thank you for making me more than a whale.

  16. 13 When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaints;

  17. Job 7:1 [Amp] Is There not an [ appointed] warfare and hard labor to man upon earth ? And are not His days like the day’s of a hireling? We still have appointed time to.give ourselves to Jesus and work for him instead of this world he will make a way for us. Working paycheck by paycheck can be very hard at times . God know every struggle that each and everyone goes through. But my should supple all of our needs. He will always make away.

  19. 7:19 How long wilt thou not. Depart from me, nor let me alone Till swallow down my spittle?
Now this is the real deal, this is a man expressing himself, telling all mighty God how he feels and what he thinks.
Did we mentioned the Job never gives the devil glory for his affliction? No! For he knows who is in charge, and who has the ultimate saying.
Hallelujah for one it’s like a thousand years for the Lord, and a thousand years like a day.
God gave, God took away, blessed be HIS NAME🙌🙌🙌🙌

  20. 2 As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
3 So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.
4 When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.
5 My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.
6 My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope.

Sometimes when you’re in the middle of a trial you cannot see around you. But God is in control no matter what comes your way trust in the Lord always lean not to your own understanding and pray in the Holy Ghost.

“I cannot keep from speaking. I must express my anguish. My bitter soul must complain.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭7:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wow, right here in this chapter we find the fruit of bitterness… and that fruit is complaining. Simply put, folks who always complain are bitter folks. This is sad because I think we all complain too much. Even those who complain about people complaining are complaining themselves…(about the others complaining). I’m thinking bitterness is fueled by pride. The higher one thinks of himself is the more one complains.

Forgive us Lord and save us from bitterness.

  22. “When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭7:13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When bad things come it is mans desire to withdraw. To sleep or be away from family and friends. In this case God didn’t allow Job to withdraw because he made the alone times undesirable.

When bad things come and we want to withdraw, we need to turn to Jesus. He is our hope, strength, and comfort. Our ever present help. His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. He is the reason we exist.

  23. 1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

We have a date with an angel.

Not the “angel” like the person of your dreams, but the angel of death.

This is earth is only our temporary home. A place where God gives us a choice to serve Him or ourselves. There’s a consequence for the decision we make: one leads to eternal life for obeying the Lord and the other leads to an eternal death for disobeying Him. Let’s live everyday as if it were our last, let’s obey God’s word and place it in our hearts.

I choose to live for Jesus.

  24. Remember that my life is but a breath. My eye will never again see anything good.
    Job 7:7 HCSB

These words are music to the devil’s ears. When he can get you to start saying things like your life will NEVER be better, you will NEVER be happy again, this problem will NEVER go away, etc., he can fill your life with hopelessness, destroy your faith, and begin to plant suicidal thoughts.

The absolutes that we need to cleave to are the promises in the Word of God:
With God, ALL things are possible.
I can do ALL things through Christ.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy WILL come in the morning.
He will NEVER leave or forsake us.
Heaven IS real, and there are NO tears there!

Life may seem hopeless at times; but no matter how hopeless it gets, it is only a vapor.
It is temporary. This sorrow WILL pass. We have better promises and a better hope. If we endure down here, we WILL spend eternity NEVER CRYING AGAIN. Moreover, God CAN give us joy and hope in our sufferings even now.

  25. 20 I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?

We carry the weight of sin – not perceiving it’s weight until we are baptized in Jesus name. Then we can truly feel the light feeling of those sins being remitted/forgiven. I felt like I was walking on “cloud 9” as the saying goes after I was baptized. Truly he forgives and we are set free of those burdens, the burden of sin.

  26. Job 7:4, “When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossing to and fro unto the dawning of the day.”

Have you ever had one of those nights that seems like it goes on forever? You wake up every hour on the hour just tossing to and fro waiting for the first ray of sunshine to come so you can get up?

Sometimes the “test” we go through can seem that way, like it will never end. We wonder when the “test” will be over, and we will “arise” again to JOY in our life.
Just remember: hang in there during your “night season / your testing time,” for JOY comes in the morning!

  27. “My days fly faster than a weaver’s shuttle. They end without hope. O God, remember that my life is but a breath, and I will never again feel happiness.
    Job 7:6‭-‬7 NLT
Talk about depression and being suicidal, Job has two major contributing factors that lead to it. 1. He has no hope- Did you realize that hope is so powerful and essential to salvation that there is a Scripture for that:
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
    Romans 8:24
Hope is “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. ” We have hope of heaven when we get saved but we also have hope of a better life with a God who loves us and will never leave us nor forsake us.
    2. Job had no joy and hopelessness made him feel like he would never be happy again. I heard a message once that said, No Joy, No Harvest! When we lose our joy in the journey, we lose our ability to help others. They already have a hard life because they are going against God and the way of a transgressor is hard! They don’t want to come to church and see people griping and complaining about everything. They want to see a truly happy people who love serving God!

  28. We will all experience tough days. It is how we handle to shows what type of person we are. We can sound defeated and have the attitude that everything and everybody is against us. The other side is for us to remember who our father is. Even though we might be going through, God is still able bring us out. He will give us the strength we need in order to move forward. Don’t let your bad days bring you down, but allow them to encourage you, because in our weakness we are made strong.

  29. 1 ¶ Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?
2 As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:
3 So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

    2Cortin 5
1 ¶ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 ¶ Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 ¶ Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
12 ¶ For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16 ¶ Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
    18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 ¶ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
The agony that Jesus felt was supremely within the realm of His spirit what we cannot forget is JESUS WAS ROBBED IN FLESH, He is God so He is almighty the 1 true LIVING GOD.
The effect of sin in separating the human from God was fathomed by the suffering in the cross, the anguish of Gethsemane surpassed the physical torture of Calvary.

What Job went through was horrible but Jesus what to much more.
    Jesus thank You for EVERYTHING

Job was put through a very hard trial; even though God has allowed this to happen. Guess what; Job still refused to curse God. He may have felt like God has forgotten him. If only we could possess a portion of Job’s faith. Lord lead me today to be faithful through the trials.

  32. 1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

We all have a appointment with death. It is up to us to be ready before this time. We must keep our lamps trimmed and burning. Yet all in all death doesn’t have victory over us when we are in Christ.

  33. 1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

The Word tells us in Hebrews 9:27
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

So there is an appointed time for all under the heaven. We have one opportunity at this life. Then we die and we will be judged. So what will the judge find out about you?

  34. Verse 17 NIV “What is mankind that you make so much of them, that you give them so much attention,”. Same verse AMP “What is man that You [should] magnify him and think him important]? And that You are concerned about him?” In times of trouble, people need to know that God does care. We each have a purpose in life, that God ordained before we were even born. Yes, Lord to your will and your way.

  35. 1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

2 As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:

Job saw his present suffering like the futile, discouraging work of a servant or a hired man. He felt there was no hope or reward, only weariness.

  36. Why not just forgive my sin and take away my guilt? For soon I will lie down in the dust and die. When you look for me, I will be gone.”
    Job 7:21 NLT

This is how Job knew he was innocent, because he was constantly sending up offerings to the LORD. He lived a repentive life. He wanted to always make sure he was walking in the mercy of God. He had a relationship with God. He knew his God. That’s why he’s complaining so much. He doesn’t understand why God is doing this. Even in the turmoil of situations we still need to trust God.

  37. 13 When I think my bed will comfort me and my couch will ease my complaint, NLT

There are some days that I never want to get out of bed, and literally can’t wait to get back in it at the end of the day. And who hasn’t had that huge sigh of relief when falling onto your couch at the end of a hard day.

Although how much more comforting is the Love of Christ? The comfort in knowing His Will is whats perfect in our lives.

So the next time we thing crawling into bed will ease the pain of the day, or a falling onto the couch will be the comfort, I challenge us to instead fall to our knees. Give our tiredness, aches, and pains of the day to the Lord and allow Him to be the comfort.

  38. 17 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?
18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

We must remember in the trials of life that we are the apple of his eye, we were created for relationship with him. He allows trials to come to try us, test us and how we handle the trial says a lot to the Lord about us. Bro Guy posted a word that reminds us that grumbling and complaining in the trial shows us and the Lord what is in our hearts. In every thing give thanks for this is the will of God for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

  39. “God, remember that my life is only a breath. I’ll never be happy again.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭7:7‬ ‭NIRV‬

Fix your thoughts on what is true, right and pure. Think on things that are lovely and worthy of praise. Think on these kind of things.

“Finally, my brothers and sisters, always think about what is true. Think about what is noble, right and pure. Think about what is lovely and worthy of respect. If anything is excellent or worthy of praise, think about those kinds of things. Do what you have learned or received or heard from me. Follow my example. The God who gives peace will be with you.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8-9‬ ‭NIRV‬‬
