Genesis 32

And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God’s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:

And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.

And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.

And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the Lord which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;

14 Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,

15 Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.

16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.

17 And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?

18 Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.

19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.

20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.

21 So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.

22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.

  1. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Before wrestling with the man Jacob was wrestling with fear causing him to divide his people just in case his brother prevails over one he still had the others. Jacob was is fight mode when he had an heavenly encounter that left him with a limp. Jacob was adamant about being blessed. Blessed by his father blessed by the angel yet both came at a high price.

There are times that our blessings will not come by way of passive attitudes but we must be willing to “not let go except you bless me” God already told him to go back home that Hes going with him. Yet Jacob wanted more.

  2. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Jacob wrestled with the angel of the Lord. Through his fear and anxiety with Esau, but held to the faith that God was going to bless the situation. Sometimes God loves the fact that we get a hold of him and desire to not let him go. When we get caught up with god and until we are desperate for his touch, the God will bless up beyond measure.

He will literally transform our entire identity. We find that as long as we get something we settle for just enough. But in this day and hour we are living in we have to get all that God has for us and we get so much more. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and it will change us drastically and it will allow us to be used mightily in the kingdom of God.

    Let’s be changed!
    Let’s be transformed!

  3. Genesis 32:28-29
Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”
But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
So He said to him, “What is your name?”
    He said, “Jacob.”
And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.”
And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.

Sometimes you to struggle for your blessing. You never know what people are struggling with. There are blessings God is waiting to pour out if we will boldly seek Him and the Kingdom.

  4. Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

8 And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.

    7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

There is a lot of focus on Jacob wrestling with an angel in this chapter and while it is well deserved and is very impactful for the rest of the Bible the part about him being afraid facing his brother sticks out to me the most right now. I’ve been in many situations where someone was coming against me and I was terrified that they would have somehow gotten to me but our God is a deliverer of many things. Countless times he’s turn my enemies into friends and he has turned my fear into courage all whilst teaching me to trust him. Scripture tells us that if God be for us who can be against us, and then questions what can man do to us with God on our side. God truly is our defender oh, our refuge, and our provider. To God be the glory!

  6. What a game and name changer! Jacob knew how to approach his brother, whom he assumed was still angry from what he had done to him so many years before. How we approach a situation and are willing to serve, is and can be a game changer. Seek the Lord’s guidance and be blessed.

  7. Genesis 32
    Desperate for Change
Perseverance passion and a desperation for something different. Jacob would not give in until he was changed. How desperate are we about the call of God on our life. What are we truly passionate about . The change will come and usually through an extensive battle with self and a desperation for a different touch from God. When it happens you will know. Your passions will change and you will no that you are no longer the person you used to be. Desperate for a change ? Willing to fight the battle? Only you can make the choice. Jacob would not let go until he knew there had been a change . Painful yes he no longer walked the way he used to walk. From Jacob the deceitful to Israel a mighty Nation !
Ih what a change one night can do in the presence of the Almighty King.

Ezekiel 36:26–And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Romans 12:2–Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 1:6–And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

    Isaiah 43:19
    Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert

  8. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

Jacob wrestled with the angel of God!!! Have you ever argued with God? I have, long time ago after the death of my child. Our Heavenly Father is so understanding that even when we rebel with a teen attitude, He listens and understands. Jacob here is almost like he is wrestling with his past actions. He is seeking a reconciliation with his brother Esau after tricking him and taking his blessings. Esau is full of resentments and took many wrong decisions because of his anger against Jacob. I think Jacob was repenting in his heart about those actions he took in the past and he wrestled with the angel looking to erase who he was. And he won, for that moment on he stop being Jacob the liar, Jacob the trickster, and became a father of a nation ISRAEL!!!! Thank you Jesus for repentance!!! For Jesus Christ wiped away all of our sins and made us a new creature!!!

  9. O Lord , please rescue me from the hand of my brother, Esau. I am afraid that he is coming to attack me, along with my wives and children. But you promised me, ‘I will surely treat you kindly, and I will multiply your descendants until they become as numerous as the sands along the seashore—too many to count.’”
    Genesis 32:11‭-‬12 NLT

Standing on the Promises of God. He said He would take care of Jacob, yet Jacob was still afraid. It’s a faith issue. When we focus more of our problems than on God our problems become our God. Lord, help us to shift our focus to YOU Our King and not to the issues around us. Thank You, God for being our Everything!

  10. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Just hold on whatever you going through change is coming , A new day is rising this time around it will be different just hold on .

  11. 24So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.

On a daily basis we wrestle with life. We have to make decisions all day, are we making correct decisions according to God. Situations come up when you least expect them. We get worried about what to do. Continue to pray daily and let God take care of your situations, and stop wrestling with life.

  12. iLove the Kingdom
Gen 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Esau was coming with 400 men…this was not a welcoming party, this was for the slaughter. Jacob now became the hunted by the very powerful Esau. Jacob showed great faith in God in facing his fear. Most people think, “Well ole Jacob shouldn’t have been afraid…” well, that’s easier said than done. (Why don’t y’all go marching into China loudly proclaiming the gospel if facing your fear is so easy.)

Jacob won the wrestling match. It was a spiritual battle that had to be won before victory would be won in the physical realm. We must win the battle in prayer first.

  13. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    HOLD ON FOR YOUR BLESSING

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Life in our demanding society we are challenged and called to work while it is day. Christian believers should be motivated by a strong urgency to compel the lost to follow JESUS. YES. We live in the last days. But.

We must also recognize the opportunity when it arises to hold on to or cleave to the presence of GOD in order to be converted, empowered and blessed. Reject the temptation to run out church, to simply pray little short prayers.

I pray that we are intentional about FIRST THE KINGDOM and that we will SEEK JESUS FIRST everyday. We will findourselves in a similar situation as Jacob. You may or may not wrestle a physical angel, but you will be changed by the mighty hand of GOD that touched Jacob in the thigh and most imortantly changed his identity. May the LORD Bless us today and if that means we walk with a limp from this day forward, we will forever be reminded of Blessing of GOD.

Jacob could not take 1 single, simple step without being reminded of the encouter with GOD.

With God all things are possible.

Sometimes we wrestle with God, and it doesn’t turn out like Jacob, I have to know what I’m fighting for, whose side am I on, I may think I’m fighting for God and that I’m on the side of right, but my actions and my heart speak more than my mouth!

    FIRST THE KINGDOM
When life is a battle…GOD IS GOOD

  16. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

So as I read this: it came to my mind. Really Jacob was wrestling a battle within himself. Fear can be a very powerful emotion; by which we wrestle with daily. I know I battle fears every moment of everyday; God can bring us through the battle. The difference is are we ready to stand and fight that battle. Jacob fought so hard that he physically hurt himself. The angel of the Lord touched him so that Jacob was healed and that is how it can be for us. We just have to be willing to stand and fight. Lord help me today to stand against my flesh and a carnal mind. Mend me this day of fear and doubt. Thank you Lord for being my light in the dark.

  17. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Sometimes whenever we are transformed in we are a little stubborn to god’s will and sometimes we wrestle with our carnal side for us to understand his will for us, but in the end we must remember that we are a new creature in Christ once we are transformed.

  18. 17 And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?
18 Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.

When we truly understand that we serve the Almighty God, it is a humbling experience. One of which makes you feel small. However, we are called the sons and daughters of Him. Therefore we shall honor Him and fear Him,but come boldly to request our needs to Him. He wants to bless us and provide for us. He loves us to the very end, yet is there an end to Him? When we seek after what makes Him happy. He will bless us and provide for us. We serve a the Great and Powerful King and His Kingdom. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  19. 26. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

I think too often we ask for something once or twice and think, “oh, well, it doesn’t look like it going to happen” when God is wanting to know how badly we want it.
Are we willing to tarry for it?
Are we willing to wrestle all night for it?
Don’t give up too easily; God may not be saying No, He may be saying, show Me how much you want it.

  20. 32:7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him and the flocks, and beards and the camels I to two bands…..
    ——-
Afraid, distressed to encounter his brother after much time of not seeing each other…..
He obeyed, he did what he was told( back then…)
    Same power, same Spirit,
Was with him back then, same Power, same Spirit, same Presence will be with him now…..

  21. He was worried about his brother so he gave gifts to his brother to appease him. Giving gifts a something that we can all do to someone who might be angry at us. Gifts of time, help, compliments, and objects. All of these things will show God’s love through our actions.

  22. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Jacob wrestled with the angel and was not willing to let go until change came. How many of us let go of that special place with God before we actually experience the change necessary for us to achieve whatever it is we are praying for?

Jacob knew something had to be difference and was willing to stay until it happened.

Sometime we don’t get an answer from God because we don’t take the time necessary to clear away all the distractions and hear from the Lord. He will answer if we will wait on the Lord.

  23. Genesis 32 -27-28 [ Amp] He said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob [supplanter, schemer, trickster, swindler ] ! [28] Then Kabob asked Him, Tell me, I pray You, what [ in contrast] is Your name? And [ the Angel of God declared] a blessing on [ Jacob] there. Sometimes life is a battle, But God is good. Put in God’s Hands ! I love Jesus.

  24. “When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket. Then the man said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭32:25-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There is something to be said for every man doing his wrestling with God, and then acknowledging God’s greatness after having been defeated. We must know we serve a God who is greater than us, and we cannot conquer much of anything until He conquers us.

  25. 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

In the fear of a situation we may feel we are unworthy of the mercies of God, but after we have done all we can do, we must stand and trust in Him. He can do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

  26. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

In this chapter we can see two different scenarios where Jacob had 2 choices, to fight or not to fight, that is the question.

When his brother Esau and he heard the news how he came with 400 men to face Jacob, I feel like many peoples instinct would have been figuring out how they can defend themselves or fight back because after all Esau started it, right? But Jacon knew that wasn’t the time to fight, that was the time to humble himself and make amends with his brother, apologizing for the years he deceived him.

And then when the Angel came at the middle of the night to wrestle with him, I feel many people would have ran away from the fight. How is a human going to best an angel of God after all? But Jacob knew to stay and fight to get his blessing.

So what was the difference between these two scenarios? One was physical battle and one was a spiritual battle. Jacob knew he needed to fight the spiritual battle and to leave the physical confrontation up to God to handle. We too need to learn how to pick our battles this way.

  27. Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord , who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your people, and I will make you prosper,’ And You [Lord ] said, ‘I will certainly make you prosper and make your descendants as [numerous as] the sand of the sea, which is too great to be counted.’ ”
    GENESIS 32:9‭, ‬12 AMP

Remind God of what he has promised you.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord , keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
    Isaiah 62:6‭-‬7 KJV

  28. Genesis 32:6 & 7, 9-11
    6) And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
    7) Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

    9) And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to they kindred, and I will deal well with thee:
    10) I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
    11) Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

First, the best thing we can do when we are afraid is to PRAY and “Cast our care upon HIm.” “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter. 5;8). Jacob needed deliverance from the hand of his brother, Esau.

Second, when we are afraid, we should stand upon His Word. Jacob reminded the Lord what He had said unto him, “Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee.” In Genesis 31:3 it says, “And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.”

So, in the times that we are afraid, all we have to do is PRAY and “Cast Our Care Upon HIM, and Stand Upon HIS Word.”

  29. 29-30 “And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Sometimes in life, we have to fight and go through the battle. Some changes are external, internal and at times even both. And through every battle, we are changed, rather for the good or the bad. Allow your changes to be a witness to lift up the name of Jesus and not an encouragement to disobey.

  30. God doesn’t do anything by accident

24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

There is a point in our lives where Hod is waiting on is to get alone with him so that he can transform us. If you don’t ever spend time just you and God, you are missing out on the transformation that he has in store for your life. I am like Jacob, when I get alone with God sometimes it’s a wrestling match. But as soon as I stop fighting or loosing God he changes my life every time. God wasn’t just hanging out by that tree for no reason, he knew Jacob would be there alone. God is just waiting on us to get alone with him .

  31. 11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. Fear does not stand a chance when we stand in God’s love. Fear is a spirit. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self discipline.
Perfect love expels all fear. Combat fear by saying you dont belong here and fear you are not going to steal my joy. Take it to the Lord in prayer.

  32. 9 ¶ And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

  33. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Jacob struggles with fear way before the wrestle with the angel took place here. He beguiled his brother Esau for the blessing of the first born. Meeting up with him again had him shook. It’s clear Jacob is a fighter, after all he waited and served Laban 14 years for Rachel. That takes persistence which is a character trait Jacob is far from lacking. So we can learn something from Jacob here to not back down when it comes to future blessings.

  34. 9 And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the Lord which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
Sometimes god tells us to do something or go somewhere and we are afraid of what might happen but if we trust in him and lean on his word why should we be worried because he said he will be with us always and if it is his will what do we have to be worried about.

  35. Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.
    Genesis 32:24-25

A leader who goes his own way and seeks to benefit only himself cannot be an effective instrument in God’s hands. God had to break Jacob to make him useful.
Every time you stand up under the weight of adversity, you are being prepared, as Jacob was , to better serve God and lead people.

  36. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Sometimes it is necessary to have an encounter with God till we are changed, and our identity is changed. It is in those alone times with Him that we are transformed. Where we learn from Him directly. Yet the key is not to just show up, although that is good, but to tarry in prayer with Him tarry till you are blessed, till you pray through the flesh and all your worries, tarry till you know you have gotten his attention and He speaks to you in return. It is at His Word, at his command, that things change.

  37. “He instructed the one in the lead: “When my brother Esau meets you and asks, ‘Who do you belong to, and where are you going, and who owns all these animals in front of you?’ then you are to say, ‘They belong to your servant Jacob. They are a gift sent to my lord Esau, and he is coming behind us.’ ”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭32:17-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Know who you belong to, you are a child of the king! Know where you’re going, you’re heaven bound! When Esau asked Jacob’s servants who they belonged to and where they were going they had to swallow any ounce of fear they had in them and answer those questions. When faced with opposition or the unknown, make sure you know who you belong to and where you’re going, as a child of God and being Kingdom bound any opposition will have to back down and make way for you.

  38. “So He asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.””
    ‭‭GENESIS‬ ‭32:27-28‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The Lord won’t leave you the same way he found you. Once you have an encounter with Jesus you will never be the same. You’ll walk different and have a name change.

  39. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

How hungry are you? What are you willing to surrender? We say we want our lives to be changed, but the instant it happens outside of the manner we wanted, we don’t exactly welcome it. God wants to use us, but we must be willing to follow His will and His way, let Him change you and mold you. In this instant, Jacob probably wasn’t expecting to walk away with a limp, but he didn’t argue, he gave glory to God and received his blessing. Thank You Lord for what You’re doing among us, we give You all glory!

  40. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Prayer is a battle sometimes, its exausting and can last for hours. We battle things everyday but when we truly want to prevail and breakthrough to the kindom level, this is a battle with God. Proving oneself worthy of his blessing. Saying this is not all that i am capable of, you know my heart lord and im not giving in until you bless me. Until i get that annointing from you. Seriously would you go through all the blood sweat and tears for nothing. God wants us to rise ubove this world, sometimes it takes that choke hold and bone crushing battle to get us realize that we are more then just a follower. It teaches us that we can gain ground if we just fight for it. Sometimes it takes us falling on our face for a few hours and pushing ourselves to gain that ground with God. Sometimes it takes that im not giving up until i get my blessing attitude, to make us stronger to handle what God has instore for us. We push and push until we have that breakthrough, that release from God that tells us we can wrestle with everyday challanges because we wrestled with God and prevailed. We are worthy of all his blessings because our name is Israel.
