19 And Jakim, and Zichri, and Zabdi,

20 And Elienai, and Zilthai, and Eliel,

21 And Adaiah, and Beraiah, and Shimrath, the sons of Shimhi;

26 And Shamsherai, and Shehariah, and Athaliah,

27 And Jaresiah, and Eliah, and Zichri, the sons of Jeroham.

28 These were heads of the fathers, by their generations, chief men. These dwelt in Jerusalem.

29 And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon; whose wife’s name was Maachah:

30 And his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,

31 And Gedor, and Ahio, and Zacher.

32 And Mikloth begat Shimeah. And these also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against them.

33 And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

34 And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal; and Meribbaal begat Micah.

35 And the sons of Micah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.

37 And Moza begat Binea: Rapha was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son:

38 And Azel had six sons, whose names are these, Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sons of Azel.

39 And the sons of Eshek his brother were, Ulam his firstborn, Jehush the second, and Eliphelet the third.

  1. 33 And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

34 And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal; and Meribbaal begat Micah.

Funny how the lineage of Saul is mentioned and listed because this was the royal blood line. The first king of Israel and also dethroned by his death on the battle field. Prior to that he was disobedient to God for not completely destroying the Amelakites. We find that the family of Saul was given because of the importance of the throne.

We have a lineage like Saul because we are grafted into the blood line of Jesus Christ. We were made heirs and joint-heirs in baptism and being filled with the Holy Ghost. But unlike Saul our sins have been forgiven and we have a means through the altar to be shown grace and mercy. We must not allow any opportunity to go before the throne of grace and mercy to seek repentance. We have to stay humble and seek first the kingdom of God. Prepare our selves to be living tabernacles before God tried and true with thanksgiving.

  2. 1 Chronicles 8

1 Now Benjamin begat Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,

2 Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.

3 And the sons of Bela were, Addar, and Gera, and Abihud,

4 And Abishua, and Naaman, and Ahoah,

5 And Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram.

6 And these are the sons of Ehud: these are the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Geba, and they removed them to Manahath:

7 And Naaman, and Ahiah, and Gera, he removed them, and begat Uzza, and Ahihud.

  3. 1 Now Benjamin begat Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,
2 Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.

If you ever feel forgotten, do you ever feel unimportant like what you do does not matter, if you ever feel like do to your heritage that God may have let your name slip through the cracks, you can always remember that God has a perfect track record.every soul is valuable in the kingdom of God, there are no exceptions. the world may cast us away and make us feel like we don’t matter, but God has our number and has been tracing our lineage for ages. he knows where we are coming from and he knows where we are going. When we are in the hands of God we are safe and not forgotten

  4. The lineage continues in this chapter with the lineage of Benjamin. Here too some were clan leaders, some were builders, some brave soldiers and experts at using a bow and arrows. They each had their purpose and expertise. We too have the same in our lineage. God has a purpose and plan for each and every one of us to be used in His kingdom. Psalm 57:2 AMP says “I will cry to God Most High, Who accomplishes all things on my behalf [for He completes my purpose in His plan].” Let the Lord guide you and seek good counsel from those He has placed in your life as Proverbs 24:3-6 MSG says “It takes wisdom to build a house, and understanding to set it on a firm foundation; It takes knowledge to furnish its rooms with fine furniture and beautiful draperies. It’s better to be wise than strong; intelligence outranks muscle any day. Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel.”

  5. As Bro Parker pointed out this passage is talking about royal lineage. I think it is important how God managed his people in that day and time. Disobedience was dealt with and that’s it, problem done. Old testament life was way different before Jesus came.

  6. We all have our place and a purpose in the Kingdom of God. We all belong to Jesus and have become heirs to His Kingdom. Serve faithfully with gladness, we belong to the King of kings!

  7. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus

Wow, this is quite interesting! Ulam’s sons were all mighty warriors and expert archers. They had many sons and grandsons—150 in all. All these were descendants of Benjamin.

Now let’s think about this…Why y’all reckon all Ulam’s sons were mighty warriors and expert archers? Maybe it was by chance? Nope, you don’t have all these sons just wake up and boom they are mighty warriors and can shoot a fly out of the air 300 yards away. This takes training from their dad. Leadership 101 is found here with Ulam and the raising of his boys. If we want our children to be mighty warriors for Jesus, I reckon it’s high time to get to work on training them to get that way.

  8. Reading names of people we can’t pronounce my seem uninteresting however their names were important enough for God to put them in his word so they must be important for us to know. Thank you Jesus for your word today!

  9. “These were the family leaders in their ancestor’s clan, and they and their descendants lived in Jerusalem.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭CEV‬‬

It takes just one person to lead in all truth and righteousness to make a difference in your lineage. How are you living today? What are you teaching or showing others? Choose to be a light that can change our world to be followers of The true living GOD, Jesus Christ Live • Give • Jesus

  10. 2 Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fifth.
“In the Bible, number 4 means creation. This number directly relates to the creative ability of God. … It would also be the mark of seasons which was used to identify different celebrations and feasts in the Bible”.
Thus in Bible numerology terms, there could have been a significant reason the Lord had Nohah birth as the fouth. This might have been by design to bring continuity to the number 4. Perhaps due to Nohah’s role in the recreation of the Earth, as compared to the Earth’s state prior to the flood and judgement.

  11. 40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

Gen 49:27 Benjamin is a wolf; he tears his prey. In the morning he devours the prey, and in the evening he divides the plunder.

The Benjamin tribe was always described as great warriors, many of them ambidextrous. King Saul was of the Tribe of Benjamin.

  12. 28 “These were the heads of fathers’ houses, according to their generations, chief men. These lived in Jerusalem.”

40 “And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.”

What are they gonna say about us or we even making a mark on this quest.

  13. A name is very important . But the individuals behind each name more important.
Take a look around you what individuals do you encounter day in and day out? Who do you pass by at church and don’t even know their name? Yes a name is important. But more important the individual behind that name. We are reading a lot names in these scriptures whether the individual is someone we recall from a Bible lesson or not it played a role in the family tree . A lineage passed down. How important in these times to get to know others . Ask their name . Introduce yourself . Introduce what God has done for you. Learn how to pronounce their name . We are a part of this lineage that has been passed to us . Jesus came to save as we are to reach and the first simple step is just ask what is your name? Try it . Live Give Jesus .

  14. 37 And Moza begat Binea: Rapha was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

Obadiah said in judgement God would wipe out the house of Esau forever, and not even a remnant would remain. The Edomites’ land would be possessed by Egypt and they would cease to exist as a people. But the Day of the Lord was at hand for all nations, and someday the children of Israel would return from their exile and possess the land of Edom.

  15. 39-40 [ amp] The sons of Eshek his brother; Ulam his firstborn, Jehush the second, Eliphelet the third.
[40] The sons of Ulam were mighty warriors, archers, with many sons and grandsons – 150 in all.
    All these were Benjamites.
Obviously Ulam was the leader of all of the mighty warriors.
The tribe of Benjamin is fitly compared to a ravenous wolf because of the rude courage and ferocity which they invariably displayed, particularly in their war the others tribes, in which they killed more.
Also I find In Gen.49:27 ] Benjamin is a ravenous wolf, in the morning of devouring they prey and at night dividing the spoil.
Wow what these generations had to go through to mighty warriors!
Are we being the mighty warriors Jesus called us to be!
    Thank you for word.

  16. 1 Chronicles 8:10
[10]Jeuz, Sakia, and Mirmah. These sons all became the leaders of clans.
    1 Chronicles 8:40
[40]Ulam’s sons were all mighty warriors and expert archers. They had many sons and grandsons—150 in all.All these were descendants of Benjamin.
There were many leaders and mighty warriors. Jesus is the great leader of all. We are all mighty warriors in Christ.
    Philippians 4:13
13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

  17. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    RAISING MIGHTY MEN

40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

The sons of Benjamin are noted and remembered as MIGHTY MEN of VALOR who were ARCHERS. Archery was the obvious habit or trait that Benjamin taught his family.

We are wise to evaluate and consider what is the skill, habit or trait that we leave our children. Raising, training and preparing the next generation is imperative to the success of that generation. We must be intentional in RAISING MIGHTY MEN by being THERE to teach them, train them and love them.

The times we live in present greater challenges than ever before and will require greater focus from parents and leaders. What are we teaching them, work ethic, punctuality, faithfulness, courage, faith or fear, laziness, unreliable or lethargic.

As our attention turns this weekend to our children let us be prayerful to lead them in times of uncertainty to place their faith and confidence in JESUS, HIS Word and HIS Kingdom.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  18. And yet again we see the lineage listed of some names we hear nothing about later in the bible. Someday if the Lord tarries our children and grandchildren will read our names of relatives in their heritage line. I hope something significant can be said about me when that times comes, not just my name and no entry beside it. I don’t want to be known for being a millionaire or owning lots of land, homes, cars, I want to be known for the impact I had on the lives of people. The only way that is going to happen is if I “Live Jesus and Give Jesus” now!

  19. 29Jeielc (the father ofd Gibeon) lived in the town of Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maacah,

The city of Gibeon is located southwest of Jerusalem. The Gibeonites deceived Joshua so they would not be killed. Joshua found out 3 days later, but spared them, since he had sworn to God and had made a pact with them. But he made the Gibeonites bondsman.

  20. This all coming from the tribe of Benjamin! Benjamin was suppose to be the smallest tribe, but out came kings, princes, skilled archers, and men of valor! Don’t ever underestimate what God can do through you or your family!!

  21. Our lineage is important to helping us realize that everyone in the past has done all of these different things for the Kingdom of God and you have a purpose and a specific calling on your life to do for the Kingdom.

  22. Our children too will have a place in the Kingdom of God and it’s our place to teach them about it, no one can fill their spot like they can, God has an expectancy for us to teach them what we were taught, I won’t stand before Him and tell Him I failed.

  23. “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge are the building blocks to establishing a legacy. These three things we obtain by praying and reading the Word of God. So if we want our family – whether immediate, extended, church, etc – to increase, we have to make sure we are connected to Jesus and rooted in His Word. I thank God for the opportunity to build our legacy on His name alone. I pray we work on our legacies not for our personal gain but for how it will impact the Kingdom of God

  24. 1 Chronicles 8:1 & 40
    1) NOW Benjamin begat…
    40) … All these are the sons of Benjamin.

What’s so important about Benjamin and all these sons and relatives of his? Benjamin is one of the 12 tribes of Israel, and Benjamin, his sons, and all his descendants are a part of the nation of Israel.

I was curious as to where our names are recorded when we are born. I read, “The original birth or naturalization record for every U.S. citizen is on file in the official records in Washington, D.C. Within 2 weeks and 3 days, each Certificate of Live Birth is to be filed in Washington, D.C.” Why is this important? Because we are a part of the country of America.

The most important place our names can be recorded is in the Book of Life. When our names are recorded in the Book of Life, we are a part of the Kingdom of God.

  25. Chronicles 8
40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.1
As we look at the tribes and the growth of them in numbers. This is also what God is doing in us in our families. May we raise our families that they may obtain their relationship with Jesus as lord of their lives.
    Deu 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
    1Ch 16:15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
Psalm 105:8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Let us walk in hope and Faith.

  26. 1 Now Benjamin begat Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,
6 And these are the sons of Ehud: these are the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Geba, and they removed them to Manahath:
40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

I like to see Ehud’s sons mentioned in the lineage. Ehud had been so courageous and brave as he went in left handed and killed King Eglon and help free a nation. Then to see that his sons were good as well and turned out good is a good thing to read. “. . . were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty.” All below Benjamin, his sons and sons’ sons mighty men of valor. I hope and pray I follow the same examples as the good father heads I have had as an example in my life. I pray my three sons do the same. To follow a path of righteousness and don’t turn away from the truth. Lord, I pray for direction not only for myself but also my children and my children’s children.

  27. 40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

How do you want to be remembered?

Your actions, your words, your lifestyle; they will all leave an impact, whether good or bad.

I pray to be remembered as woman of kindness, of loyalty, one who is caring and giving. But most importantly, I pray to be remembered as a woman of God!

“Let them see you, In me
Let them hear you, When I speak
Let them feel you, When I sing
    Let them see you
Let them see you in me

Who am I without your praise
    Another smile, Another face
Another Breath, A Grain of Sand
    Passing quickly through your hand
I give my life, An offering
    Take it all take everything

Let them see you, In me
Let them hear you, When I speak
Let them feel you, When I sing
    Let them see you
Just let them see you in me…

    With every breath I breathe
    I sing a simple melody
But I pray they’ll hear more than a song
    In me
    In me

Let them see you, In me
Let them hear you, When I speak
Let them feel you, When I sing
Let them see you” // JJ Weeks Band

  28. In Chronicles 1:8 the tribe of Benjamin is represented. This is not one of the largest tribes but large things can come out of small packages! There were kings, men of valour, archers etc… Often people who are not monetarily wealthy, are rich in our Lord. I know many people like this. Riches of the world are not what is important. Having a loving life with Jesus Christ IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT!!!! Thank you Jesus!

  29. So thankful that THE LORD has promised to ” be a Father ” to us, and we shall be His ” sons and daughters. “

  30. 35 And the sons of Micah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.

36 And Ahaz begat Jehoadah; and Jehoadah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza,

  31. Ulam’s sons were all mighty warriors and expert archers. They had many sons and grandsons—150 in all. All these were descendants of Benjamin.
    1 Chronicles 8:40 NLT

To be a mighty warrior takes discipline and a lot of training. To be in God’s army takes discipline and training. We need to be discipline enough to read His Word and also put it to use.

  32. 1 Now Benjamin begat Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,

Even though the tribe of Benjamin was disordered or destroyed by the almost total extermination, God allowed them to survive and reproduce again. We see the first King raised up from this tribe. King Saul.
Just as God allowed this tribe to survive, we have been chosen to be in this world and preach His Name to all Nations. We are here with a purpose. If God has allowed us to be here, let’s make the best of it!

  33. 1 Now Benjamin begat Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third,

The tribe of Benjamin. Interesting it was a son loved dearly by Jacob becuase it was the son of his old age. The baby. And from his beloved Rachel. His birth brought the death of his mother. He was actually named Ben-oni “son of my pain” but his named was preferred to be called, Benjamin “son of the right hand”. Benjamin was the tribe that nearly got wiped out during a civil war.

The Book of Judges recounts that the rape of the concubine of a member of the tribe of Levi, by a gang from the tribe of Benjamin resulted in a battle at Gibeah, in which the other tribes of Israel sought vengeance, and after which members of Benjamin were killed including women and children. Almost the entire tribe of Benjamin was wiped out by the other Israelite tribes. Six hundred of the men from the tribe of Benjamin survived by hiding in a cave for four months.

We also get the first King of Israel from this tribe and as Saul himself described it, the smallest of all the tribes.

The story brings hope though. Even from the least God can bring the great. Even from the worst atrocities God can raise authority and greatness. What could have been one of their brother tribes loss ended up being from whom it was picked to rule. This should speak greatly to anyone who feels as though they are not qualified or worthy. God is the one that qualifies, and justifies. We just remember that even if you look at yourself as the smallest God sees the heart.

Choose God and he will chose you.

  34. “The sons of Ulam were brave warriors who could handle the bow. They had many sons and grandsons—150 in all. All these were the descendants of Benjamin.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭8:40‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We all wonder what our legacy will be when we leave this earth. What will be said of us, what will people think when our name is brought up, are we, right here in this moment, what we want to be remember as?

Will people be able to say we were great spiritual warriors? Will they say we had great faith? Will they say we had potential but didn’t quite fulfill our calling? We need to be purposeful everyday in our actions that we take in our spiritual life. The generations coming up behind us need to know what we stood for. Everything we do makes an impacts the generation after us, lets be a spiritual example they want to follow after not one that leads them astray.

  35. 40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

The family line is important and some had comments behind their names because they stood above the others for their greatness. We are great in the kingdom when we live and give Jesus.

  36. 38 And Azel had six sons, whose names are these, Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan. All these were the sons of Azel.

39 And the sons of Eshek his brother were, Ulam his firstborn, Jehush the second, and Eliphelet the third.

40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

That’s a lot of boys. I imagine these brothers were tough, being a part of sports you develop the brotherhood mentality. You learn how each other think and act and respond to a lot of different things. You get in unity, when we’re in unity it shows we’re powerful. Not a whole lot is gonna stop you.

  37. 40 And the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.

These mighty men were from Benjamin. Men and valor and archers were in this family line.
