Psalm 127

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

  1. Psalm 127

1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

    • In Psalm 127 it’s talking about how Jesus Built his House in Vain and of Water then Jesus ate the Bread of Sorrows that he gave his Beloved Sleep then the Children are the Fruit of Womb then the Mighty Man himself Jesus God Lord Has Arrows in his Hand for his Children then Happy he is they should Not be ashamed for they could speak with the enemies of Hell

  2. 4. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Arrows were the tool used for destroying the enemy from a distance; they extended the range of warfare beyond that of swords and spears.
Our children are an extension of us, so we not only can battle within our own range of age and ability, but that gets extended to what we raise them up to do.

  3. Psalms 127
    127 Except the Lord
Jesus in the midst of our relationships
Jesus in the midst of building families
Jesus in the midst of our children
Without Him then our work labor is useless
    Homes crumble families become unhappy
Yes Except the Lord Builds the House
I want to keep Him in my home in every relationship
and in the midst of my heart .
My heart is like a house Except the Lord builds it then nothing I do is worth any value in the end ..,

  4. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

In all that we do, we must do everything in the likeness and presence of God. Nothing is as powerful, nothing is as successful, and nothing is more sacred than a house built by promises of God. We have the greatest resource ever known to man, and that is having the presence and authority of God inside the home. If we are to be successful as parents, we have to raise up offspring to be honorable to God and know him personally. We have to make sure that no matter how successful we are in the world, that we always put God first and then everything will be added unto us. Just as David passed everything unto Solomon and the grace and mercy of God blessed Solomon beyond all of the capabilities that he could do on his own.

If we don’t invest wisely in our own house, then everything we do for the kingdom is going to be in vain. How would it be if we try to save others when we can not save our own house. We have to live to be examples to our family and then to the world. We have to know God personally, allowing him to guide our footsteps down the chosen path. Raise up a generation that know God and God knows them.

  5. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

The world teaches to work and labor till all hours of the night and to sacrifice sleep to follow worldly possessions but this verse is instructing is to give time for rest. We should follow the dreams the Lord gives us and reach for the goals out there but it’s equally important to give time for bodies to rejuvenate

  6. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

I have tried to do things in life so many times, but it wasn’t until I surrendered and submitted to God and let Him direct and govern that I was able to have such an amazing turn around. My life has been forever changed

  7. Unless you are in God’s will, everything you do is a waste. It doesn’t matter what you have accumulated, if is wealth, luxury, or fame, if God is not your priority you lost the whole meaning of life. What is the use of breaking your fingers to the bone if you.don’t know the love of Christ. Don’t you know that in Him you will have everything you need and more? When you are in God’s will nothing else really matters for He is more valuable than any gold!!!

  8. This Psalm speaks to me about the importance of having God in the midst of my home and my family. It is so important to pray and bring everything before your altar, always asking for God’s guidance. We must continue to teach our children and show our children how to LIVE-GIVE JESUS in all that we do. Children may not always listen; but, they see what you do and how you do it. Serve the Lord with gladness…..it is contagious.

  9. I agree that if you are in the will of God all your efforts will prosper your life, if you are in your own will usually troublesome your way.

  10. 3 Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.

Yes, children are rewards for you. So treat your children as rewards, its something you protect and guard. Lead them in God’s ways. Let them see you Live-Give Jesus in you. More than likely they will follow in your footsteps.

  11. Ps. 127 : 1 [ amp] Except The Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it ; except the Lord keeps the city , the watchman wakes but in vain.
Ps.121:1[ amp] I will lift up my eyes to the hills
[ around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Moriah ]
From whence shall my help come?
The life has been change , My help comes from the Lord.
I thank him and praise him for he is good.
The Joy of the Lord is my strength!

  12. iLove the Kingdom of Jesus
1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

We need the Lord over our house, church, city, state, nation! The Lord builds on truth and light. Dear Heavenly Father, we trust you and believe you are going to keep us safe. Thank You for your Word. Keep our city safe and let there be great revival.

  13. LIVE – GIVE JESUS
    BUILD

1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

GOD has called us to labor or WORK in HIS field. The people belong to the LORD, we are the harversters or the Kingdom Builders. However, if we only BUILD for our benefit, recognition or pleasure then it is in vain.

But if the LORD builds HIS house the way HE desires, we will witness and experience HIS Glory, Blessing and Benefit. In this psalm David is affirming the attitude he approached building the House of GOD in 1 Chronicles 29 that we read on Friday.

JESUS draws the plans, the people supply the resources, GOD gives the wisdom, knowledge and ability to BUILD. Whatever we do without JESUS is in vain. Make JESUS the CHIEF Cornerstone in all we do.

Lets BUILD The Kingdom of GOD.

  14. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

It is our duty as parents to point our child in the right direction via teaching and training that will establish them with a good foundation. We can put this task on others: their sunday school teachers, the pastor, friends and family. We must take the responsibility to heart. Evaluate what is going to propel them to Kingdom Ministry. Education is great and needful in this day and age, but we cannot emphasize that greater than Kingdom Opportunities to serve and minister to others.

This life is but a vapor, if we don’t point our children in the direction necessary and emphasize the importance, they will stop building on the important foundation, and begin building on a carnal foundation, then their house will be like the house built on the sand, it will be washed away by the world.

Be pointed, sharp, fervent and intentional so that when it is time to shoot that arrow into the air, it knows it’s target and it will land right where God and you intended it to land.

  15. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

We could labor all day and appear as the most faithful saint, but if what we do isn’t for God, it’s pointless. We must serve in a right attitude and spirit, for His glory. It doesn’t matter how you appear to others if what you’re doing doesn’t please God. Lead us today God to walk according to Your Word; let all that we do bring you glory and honor! Let our lives praise You today Jesus!

  16. “Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭127:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s blessing is to give His loved ones sleep. We can be at peace knowing that God’s hand is at work and His eye watches over us as we sleep.

  17. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
    Let me testify!
Brand spankin new in the Holy Ghost I had the best sleep in all my life after i received the Holy Ghost.
So many times i lied awake not being able to sleep just dwelling and sulking in my own sorrows. Dwelling and thinking about everything i had done and what i could’ve done differently…Every night trying to get myself messed up to eliminate my thoughts only to find out it made things worse and intensified my every thought. Everything i was doing only created new thoughts of pity and discouragement. Constantly telling myself i was white trash garbage for the things id done and the things i allowed myself to be a part of. BUT GOD
When God stepped in all of that dissipated, I was washed by the blood of the lamb such a huge amount was lifted from me. Every sin every addiction lifted from me. God seen the broken and said come here my son let me show you everything you’ve been searching for with just one breath of life into these dry bones. being filled with the Spirit of the Lord gave me every reason just share the whole story. I couldn’t share one without the other.
God don’t care what you’ve done or where you been. He will FILL YOU!

  18. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

This is one of the major causes of frustration. When we endeavor into things without consulting God. At times we think we have is blessing and approval but many a times we are just enjoying his mercy.

I could imagine Jesus palming his face in disappointment because our lack of guidance we forget to ask of Him. Jesus give me wisdom to not just trust you but to come to you at every moment.

  19. “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭127:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Living apart from God is not worth living. If we are trying to work apart from God’s will it won’t get us anywhere. We are just working in vain.

  20. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

We dont accomplish much with worry or stress. These will rob you of sleep and peace of mind. Give it to God. Put it in his hands. Then we can be blessed with the peace that passes all understand and have our rest too. I bless the name of the Lord.

  21. Psalms 127

This Chapter means that, We shouldn’t do things without God’s Consent otherwise It is in vain and The Children are Important to The Lord for we shouldn’t keep them out for they are a Blessing.

  22. 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

    Mark 10:14
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Children are an example of life and joy… Jesus taught on the consequences of offending one of His children…

    Mark 9:42
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

The word “children” could also be used as a label for a new convert…. We should love and nurture them as Jesus has instructed, carefully without offense.

  23. “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain that build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watcman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.” Psalms 127:1-2

We must give our stress and worries to our Lord Jesus Christ. He endures much for us. He takes our troubles and I am for ever grateful for that. I don’t know how anyone can survive without our Lord. and saviour. Thank you Jesus for this day!

  24. 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

We should always be willing to teach the next generation our ways and the ways of the kingdom because it is through that the great revival could start, They are the ones that are the next Pastors and revivalists and we should always be willing to invest in them.

  25. It is a waste of time to get up early and stay up late, trying to make a living. The Lord provides for those he loves, even while they are sleeping.

  26. Psalms 127:2
“It is vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. (nlt says, for God gives rest to His loved ones).

Usually, when people’s minds are full of cares and troubles of this life, “the bread of sorrows”, they don’t sleep well. So they either rise up early from a restless night of sleep, or they sit up late, because they can’t sleep, because they are thinking about their cares and troubles.
    BUT
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, 6) Be careful for nothing (the AMP says, ‘Do not be anxious or worried about anything’), but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
So the best thing a person can do when they are full of cares and troubles of this life, “the bread of sorrows,” is to PRAY. Give it to JESUS. Cast all your cares upon Him. And then the PEACE of God will keep your hearts and minds. Then you will find sleep and rest in Him.

So Thankful for PRAY and the HOLY GHOST, because the HOLY GHOST is our Rest and our Refreshing.

  27. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Perusing are our plans and disregarding the plans the Lord has for us will rob us of our potential blessings.

  28. Psalms 127:3
Children are a gift from the lord; they are a reward from him.

Children are a blessing. They are so full of life, love and joy

    Proverbs 22:6
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

    Thank you Jesus

  29. “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭127:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is vain for us to get up early and stay up late if we are doing things all by ourselves. God gives his beloved sleep because he doesn’t want them to worry. Worry is a lack of faith.

I’m going to rest in the sweet peace of Jesus tonight!

  30. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Regardless if your building a house or a city you need the wisdom and knowledge of God to do so. Mans abilities can only go so far but GOD has all knowledge and power. His plans goes beyond this world and any world out there. Let us be humble and willing to allow Him to build the house and stop laboring without eternal reward.

  31. 3 Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. 4 Children born to a young man are like arrows in a worriers hand.
    Psalms 127:3-4 NLT

We are each created separately by the Lord, he created us each with a purpose that we should each follow full heartedly. Let us grow with God let us build with him. Because with the Lord he will guide and protect you, he will bring you to victory no matter what. We are each in his kingdom he gives us the power and strength to over come anything in this world at any time. Let us spread his word and light to those in the dark let us show them that anything is possible with the Lord.

  32. “If the Lord does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the Lord does not protect the city, it does no good for the sentries to stand guard.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭127:1‬ ‭GNT‬‬

If he ain’t in it then it’s not blessed. Don’t leave the lord out of the work that you do. Always remember to put him first in everything that you do because he is the one who created everything and knows all. Don’t be foolish and not seek the wisdom of him when making decisions. Our own decisions won’t get us far. Always make sure he is at the center of it.

  33. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

We live in vain when our lives aren’t aligned in the will of God. Our lives mean nothing if He’s not in it.

  34. “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭127:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Everything I am, everything I have is nothing but God. The prayers of protection that have kept me, His Word that guides me and provides knowledge, wisdom and understanding. There’s a song that goes “Hallelujah, all I have is Christ. Hallelujah, Jesus is my life”. Looking back, all ai can say is Thank You Jesus as He reveals the ways He has kept me, defended me, and blessed me. I pray we always make room for Jesus in every aspect of our life

  35. In another version, the New International Version (NIV), it reads:
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
2  In vain you rise early and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat for he grants sleep to those he loves.

Long story short, if you do not put God in control of your life, then it is all for nothing! If God is not watching over you then anything else is in vain! Don’t say one thing and do another! Don’t say He’s in control in your life and then not pray and read the Word daily! I loved what Bro. Adams said the other day while preaching, “Don’t say you would die for this Truth, but then you can’t even show up to midweek service!?!” It’s so very true though. Actions speak louder than words. You can’t say one thing, do another, but then still expect to be treated as the way you are wanting.

3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

  36. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

In every undertaking job that we want to do for God. His blessing must accompany the labours of our hand to render them effectual. No work can prosper without him; nor can any design miscarry under his favour and protection. Above all men they ought to implore the divine grace and benediction, who are employed either in building or defending His kingdom. Let us work together in making sure that He is the one who is leading us to victory.

  37. Psalm Chapter 127
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Children are a blessing each one starts out with an empty slate but with time the world imprints them. Yet imprint is less on them if they have loving Christian parents who live there Christianity. Children will for the most part mimic their parents. for
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

  38. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Lord let our work for your kingdom be a sweet fragrance that is acceptable before you. For what we do with our hands is nothing, when You Lord are not with us. Let all we build is done wholeheartedly and in sync with You Lord.

  39. This chapter reminds us that how we build our house will be how our children build theirs. We have to make sure to put first things first and teach our children to do the same. Unless we build the house unto the Lord the foundation will be weak and it will fall. If we start with a good foundation, the rest will follow. Let us build together something that will last.

    iBuild upon Jesus

  40. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
    Psalms 127:2 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.127.2.NLT

No matter how hard you try to build and make a life for your own. You, we, depend on the Lord. He is in control of it all. You may accumulate riches but he is the one the gives peace.

  41. “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭127:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/116/psa.127.2.nl

Without God everything we do is useless for our God is everything. I rather have the Lord please then the world for God is a merciful God.

  42. Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

I Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

We must labour and God will give the increase in Jesus Name!

  43. “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭127:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Even when we feel overwhelmed let’s remember that we’re not doing this spiritual work for the world but to Jesus the one who is our provider, our healer, and our savior. He will shelter us in the good and rough times, trust in the Lord and be bold and fear not for the Lord our God is with all of us.

  44. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

While Jesus is looking for someone busy about His business to bless, we don’t want our work to be vanity. We must realize how much Jesus wants to bless us, and quit trying to be Superman and do everything on our own.

  45. 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

We can do and do all we want but if it’s not GOD’S WILL, then it’s not as good as it is meant to be. IF WE AREN’T OF DADDY’S BUSINESS THEN WE DON’T HAVE A BUSINESS BUT A DISTRACTION

  46. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. (‭Psalms‬ ‭127‬:‭2‬ NLT)

It’s God who gives the increase. It’s in God that we find our rest. Jesus is the answer to everything. He is the only thing we need.

Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. (‭Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭26-27‬ NLT)
