Amos 1
1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.

Amos 1:13

The phrase is not to be taken arithmetically, to mean a literal three and then four, but idiomatically, as meaning that the measure was full and more than full; the sin of these people had overreached itself, or to put it in an allowable bit of modern slang they had “ gone one too many,” they had tipped the scale.

Amos 1:2

A lot can happen once you get to Zion. A lot can happen from Zion. Zion also considered a place where God dwells it’s a place we could get to through praise. It’s no telling what could happen to your adversary just with your prayers alone. The fire will most likely consume them!

This chapter there was Judgement on Israel’s Neighbors.
Doom was pronounced on the entire region around Israel, including the neighboring kingdoms of Syria, Philistia, Tyre, Edom, Ammon, and Moab, Because of their periods of wickedness, they stand judged before the Lord, and fire will come on them.
God sees and hears everything we must careful ,we don’t want to be burnt.
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
While mercy and Grace are something that we should always acknowledge in the Lord Almighty, there is still a just God that delivers judgment on the wicked and the unrepentant. Mercy and Grace is reserved for the hearts that are still soft towards the Lord and looking to change their ways and worship the one true God but judgment and ruling is still a part of the attributes of God because he is the Lord of all it will not let wicked go unpunished.

He is repeatedly mentioning what he is about to do
What he is going to do, And why he is making this decision.
We are free to choose and he gives us this liberty
But we are not free to choose the fruit ( consequences)of our decisions.
The lord warns
The lord don’t want people to perish
But he also has a deadline…

Five different cities being completely destroyed by the Lord’s Wrath. One thing they had in common was these cities had no mercy for others. If we don’t hold mercy in our hearts how can God have mercy for us?

vs 13-15
Rabbah
Rabbah was the capital city of Ammon. Amos prophesies that it will be utterly destroyed and the king and his princes taken into captivity for its unspeakable atrocities against Gods people.
No doubt our God is a just God. May his perfect judgment be placed on this earth.
“This is what the Lord says: “The people of Ammon have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! When they attacked Gilead to extend their borders, they ripped open pregnant women with their swords.”
Amos 1:13 NLT
Thank God for the chance of forgiveness. So we won’t have to perish like they did so easily on the Old Testament. Our God is merciful. But what is sinful is sin. And will be judged accordingly.

God is serious of Judgment
Isaiah 42:13 The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
Jeremiah 25:30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
True worship had vanished. People were practicing idolatry. Social injustice was everywhere. Amos was called to deliver God’s message that judgement and punishment was coming unless they changed their ways and returned to Him.
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
This was the theme of this chapter, the punishment and judgment of those coming against the children of Israel. We see here in this set of scriptures this is telling of the problems that started between Jacob and Esau while the two warred against each other until this very day. God states that judgment will be brought against all of Edom and save the Israelites. How many times does God have to show his power against all enemies that try to demolish Israel.
Can I tell you what we see today in the world, many will try to destroy the church from preaching the gospel, but we will reign victorious because of the power of our god. He has all power and authority and in the end after an battles, we will be conquerors and overcomers in the name of Jesus Christ. Let’s keep pushing revival because we have to stay ready for anything that comes our way.
In Gods word he never said no punishment! He gives and gives and gives. How can we not thank him and worship him! We are taught as children what is right and wrong. FIRE
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
The past 40 Days we have been challenged, we learned, we were tried, we witness, miracles, signs and wonders in a quest to see, feel and experience the FIRE of GOD for the purpose and cause of REVIVAL.
Today we read of the FIRE of judgement from GOD on these cities. These cities that failed to recognize and honor GOD were doomed by HIS FIRE.
For many years now I have shared at The POFW that we can either burn with passion (FIRE) for Revival and Harvest as we see in the book of Acts or we will burn with the judgement (FIRE) of GOD from without.
Lets ensure we are on the right side of the FIRE of GOD. Baptize me today JESUS with your Holy Spirit and FIRE.

Remember your brother
9 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
This brotherly covenant began with David and Hiram, their friendship that went past generations to Solomon.
1 Chronicles 14:1 AMP
“Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar timbers, masons and carpenters, to build a house (palace) for him.”
This is where it began. Hiram was the King over Phoenicia which was the economic powerhouse in those days. Phoenicia held the port and all the trade coming in and out. David’s friendship with Hiram Kent great blessing and ease to secure materials and items to build not only David’s house but the Temple later.
This relationship that was obviously blessed by God himself had something very unlikely about it. These 2 kings who had formed this brotherly alliance served different gods. Obviously David served the one true God but Hiram was a worshiper of Baal. Despite their clash of deities, somehow God used their friendship for the good of the Kingdom. When Solomon takes over to build the temple Hiram goes as far to call him brother.
1 Kings 9:12-13 KJV
“And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not. And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.”
So should we be friends with other religions? Sounds dangerous to me….
Paul ate with the Barbarians in Acts 28 and they were kind to him and saved his life. Peter ate with the gentiles and it led to the greatest harvest the church has ever seen reaching all the way to myself and beyond. How else can we reach the world if we are too afraid to befriend them? We must get outside the walls of our thinking and reach for the world as it is our purpose and our calling as the church of the One true God. We cannot be afraid of the world that we must win. God has set us up for Immeasurable blessings when we reach big and wide to those around us. First you must be strong in the faith and know the word of God clearly and without question and that is your covering and safety but then we must reach our brothers that are in gals doctrine and going after false gods. There is a great harvest waiting in us.
Let us redefine who our brother is.
But how else will we convert them?

Judgement is about to be poured out on the enemies of God’s people. Now we understand that the only reason their enemies prevailed against them in the first place is because Israel was backslid. But even that being said, God will still pour out punishment on those who touch his backslidden people. This should encourage us to the utmost that will speedily deliver those who are doing his will.
Amos 1
I’m not sure if this is prophecy that has taken place or is taking place with Gaza under attack at this moment . I do know that judgement is coming and God is tired of the sin in this world. I do know that it is time to make a choice whether we are in or out. Some think there is so much time left to play around yet there is a day of judgement coming. God help
us the church to be ready and continue to reach for the Kingdom. If I have learned anything these last 40 days is that it is going to take a made of up mind and a heart full of a passion to serve God . Less of self and more of God …..

When I read this verse I thought of Bro. Stark’s message Pregnant with Promise. Our actions, whether good or bad, affect the promises over our lives as well as the lives around us. I pray we do not seek to kill a promise for personal gain – whether intentional or not. I pray we remember brotherly love, love for one another that encourages us to lift up our brothers and sisters around us, not tear them down.
God’s declares that he has seen and taken note of the sins of these people and that his judgement for them is sure. God has not changed and he sees and knows the sins of nations today-esp the sins against his people around the world. God’speople have a safe place to run to, the church. There’s no safer place to be than in his presence.
4 But I will send a fire …..
40 Days of Fire ended last night, but today we still read about God using a fire to destroy strongholds. The AMP bible says “So I will send a fire [of war, conquest, and destruction] . It was a destructive fire, a consuming fire because the people did not do what God had asked them to.
Don’t let the fire that we have kindled over the last 40 days go out because the program 40 Days of Fire is completed. Keep the Fire of the Holy Ghost burning bright so that God doesn’t not have to send a destructive “fire” into our lives to regain our attention.

Dreams and visions can cause debate and confusion. Should they? Some people believe that every dream is a message that needs interpretation. I don’t believe this. I dream occasionally, but they have never been anything that pertained to real life. Some dreams are a result of what has been on our minds and stored in the back of our brains. These can be memories, past events, repressed desires, and unfulfilled hopes.
The KJV does not explicitly detail whether Amos is sharing a dream or vision, rather it declares; “which he saw”. The MSG, NIV version claims a vision, while the AMP version states a divine revelation. Either way, I am not trying to define the difference between a dream or vision – only how they pertain to me – today.
If God chooses to speak to a person in a dream, the message of that dream will be consistent with, and not contradict, the teachings of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
What we do in response to our dreams must be in agreement with the Bible. Also, the dreams and visions of Daniel, Paul, and John show us that special messages are usually very rare. If one is given, it might only occur once in an entire lifetime.
Divine dreams and visions glorify God. They are not given to bring fame to an individual. We should not allow ourselves to be manipulated by someone who says, “I received this word for you in a dream.” We should listen, pray, and test the message for ourselves to confirm if it is from God.

[6]This is what the lord says: “The people of Gaza have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They sent whole villages into exile, selling them as slaves to Edom.
[14]So I will send down fire on the walls of Rabbah, and all its fortresses will be destroyed. The battle will come upon them with shouts, like a whirlwind in a mighty storm.
[15]And their king and his princes will go into exile together,” says the lord.
The wrath of God is a common expression in the Old Testament. Deuteronomy 9:8 is an example of this usage, “At Horeb you aroused the Lord’s wrath so that he was angry enough to destroy you.” This combination of God’s wrath, human disobedience, and punishment is a common theme in the Old Testament, especially in the prophets. The primary message of the prophets was one of judgment against a disobedient people, typically with a call for repentance. There are also dozens of references to God’s wrath in the New Testament, including Romans 1:18, “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness.” Even though Jesus and his disciples proclaimed the kingdom of God, and expressed God’s love for humanity, they did not dismiss the wrath of God. The wrath that would come to all who were disobedient to the gospel message. In Romans 2:1-17, Paul talks about the wrath and judgment of God that will come to those who have rejected the truth and followed evil. Romans 2:5 offers a good perspective on just what God’s wrath is, “But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath when his righteous judgment will be revealed.” His wrath appears to be synonymous with his righteous judgment. God is also love. And he has provided a way of redemption; faith in the atoning blood of his Son. For those who respond to God’s offer of salvation, his righteous judgment is satisfied by Jesus’ sacrifice. But those who reject that offer of salvation will receive the justice they rightly deserve. God’s desire is that all be saved (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9). Believers may, and do, experience discipline from the hand of God. But that discipline is intended to help us to grow and mature in the faith, and in relationship to God.
We need to pray for our world daily, we need to reach the lost that they will know how much Jesus loves us.
Amos Chapter 1

The anger of the Lord shall be a consuming fire. He God is holy and righteous in all his ways. He has said: Deu 5:9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Num 14:18 ‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.
The Lord is a jealous God. Nah 1:2 The LORD is a jealous and avenging God;
the LORD is avenging and wrathful; the LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies.
What does Jesus want us to do?
Jas 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
Jas 1:20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Jas 1:21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
May we all walk in the Lord’s way.

For three transgressions, and for four…, This signifies an indefinite number of transgressions (offenses, crimes, sins, wrongs, etc…), which God must and will judge by sending a FIRE.
13 This is what the LORD says: “The people of Ammon have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished!
If we sin, God will find a way to punish you. When things are going against you, and wonder why. You just may be getting punished. We just have to do our best, and live a righteous life. We are not perfect, but don’t intentionally sin, and God will bless you!
Amos 1
Amos had a dream or vision concerning Israel. Gods anger raged due to the sins of many.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepards shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3 Thus saith the Lord; For three trangressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
God is everywhere and knows everything! The wrath of God can be devastating, as so His blessings can be remarkable. We must stay focused on what is right and do our best not to sin.
“The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

Edom held on to anger and wrath when they should have long before put it away. For this, the judgment of God would come against them. We need to learn to give our anger and wrath to God and let Him be our avenger.

Holding a grudge against someone does you more harm than them.
We cannot be unified if we are holding on to unforgiveness.
After all, we cannot be Christ-like without forgiveness!

Times may have changed somewhat. Sin is still sin. They will always have consequences no matter where you find yourself today.

But yet today I find myself embraced by the love and mercy of a living and faithful GOD♥️♥️♥️ I hold on to His word and His promises. ‘ Mercy said NO.’
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
John 3:16-17 KJV

I will not turn away the punishment thereof. We see Amos the prophet given the task of proclaiming the judgment of the Lord over the nations. He was only the messenger but the Heavenly Father was the one doing the punishment. Or if we could put it this way, the chastisement. Many will see and probably tremble at what the Lord is gonna do. And perhaps think how terrible of things are gonna happen. But in reality, its Love. What do I mean? The good father chastises those whom he loves. It is a good thing. It may not be the kind of good that our flesh is used to. For we tend to associate good with pleasure. The Psalmist put it this way:
It is good for me that I have been afflicted; That I might learn thy statutes. The law of thy mouth is better unto me Than thousands of gold and silver.
Psalm 119:71-72 KJV
If God didnt care about his creation and his people he would let them rot in their mistakes. On the contrary, he sends judgment that people may repent, turn from their wicked ways and seek him.
He is a good Father and the good father chastises whom he loves. After all his will is that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Individuals who choose to ignore the Word of God or who reject the Spirit of God choose everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
We should choose everlasting life through obedience to His plan for our redemption.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
This scripture is just a reminder how mighty our God is. There is no power greater than his. His roar can shake any mountain and empty any sea. When you realize the power that God has, there is no reason for us to fear. The enemy might try to imitate, but he cannot even come close to God’s power. By his power the earth and the heavens were formed. He created man and every living thing on the earth. There is no god like our God.
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
The fire of Judgement will fall either now or later but it will fall. The only thing keeping us from His judgement is His mercy and our repentance. When we are willing to turn from our ways and seek Him. When we are willing to head, heed, and obey His warning we have the opportunity to find mercy.
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
A king, a queen, a minister, a pastor, a leader no matter which one you are sometimes we have to make sacrifices that the God tells us to do. We are all leaders so we have to be the good example to the others around us setting the stage for God to have His way! We all have a position in our church, and that’s what makes it so amazing. We a such an amazing church and I’m so proud of us!!! I pray tonight that we are all joining in unity to keep our church moving and letting God have His way!!!
“Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:”
Amos 1:13 KJV
The lord knows and sees all. When we sin it does not go in notices even if nothing happens right then and there. There will always come a time when we will have to be judged. This is why it’s important for us as Christians to repent daily and cleanse our hearts and minds.
“This is what the Lord says: “The people of Edom have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They chased down their relatives, the Israelites, with swords, showing them no mercy. In their rage, they slashed them continually and were unrelenting in their anger.”

We’re not all perfect, we need to realize everyone makes mistakes that even if someone close to us hurts us on purpose or not we need to forgive them no matter what. Just like the Lord he forgives us of all our mistakes all our sins, he gave his life for our sins. Yes forgiveness may not be easy but it is important we do it. I pray we realize that without forgiveness a lot of us would still be hurting for it is God that forgave us and took that pain away from our lives so I pray we go out and show others the way of forgiveness and the way to the Lord.

5 nations called out for their sins.
Mercy is what I can say that Jesus shown me, and continually shows me, that I haven’t been smitten yet. Jesus has brought me so far, I am so blessed to be forgiven.
Many people struggle with self worth because they do not know, or see the worth that Jesus sees in all of us. We need to let others know how much Jesus values them….
“This is what the Lord says: “The people of Damascus have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They beat down my people in Gilead as grain is threshed with iron sledges.”
Amos 1:3 NLT
Judgement will come from our sins. Repent for the sin we have committed. Stay in touch with the Lord in prayer, so the wrath of God won’t fall on you.
11 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
Warning, warning, warnings, sin upon sin and then judgment. God used a simple man to serve the up and coming judgment for what the nations were doing. God help us to see and hear the warnings that you are setting before us. Guide us into separating ourselves from anything or anyone who tries to draw us into doing wrong and to recognize the distraction for what it is.
Romans 8 35-39 CEV says “Can anything separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble, suffering, and hard times, or hunger and nakedness, or danger and death? It is exactly as the Scriptures say, “For you we face death all day long. We are like sheep on their way to be butchered.” In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!”
But I will send a fire…..
Judgement will always fall. Let us repent daily and our mind be transformed. Let us be praying without ceasing, filling our mind and heart with Him and only Him. He’s coming soon and we must be prepared for that day.

14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
Don’t underestimate God. He will make a way where there is no way. He’ll open doors, when your way is unsure. He’ll give us victory. He’ll kindle our fire and devour our enemies. “. . . I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, . . .”
“This is what the Lord says: “The people of Ammon have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! When they attacked Gilead to extend their borders, they ripped open pregnant women with their swords.”

We serve a God that knows all and sees all. Our deeds good or bad won’t go unrewarded. I’m so thankful for a just and faithful God.
2This is what he saw and heard:
“The LORD’s voice will roar from Zion
and thunder from Jerusalem!
The lush pastures of the shepherds will dry up;
the grass on Mount Carmel will wither and die.”
The book of Amos starts of with thunder (vs2), fire (vs4), earthquake (vs1) and whirlwind (vs14). God is judging the nations surrounding Israel for their mistreatment of His people. Not every nation receiver the same punishment. Each one transgressed against Israel differently some more gruesome than others and were dealt with by God accordingly.
Amos was able to see and hear the prosperous, like the lush pastures of the shepherds wither up and die.
At first I thought of the great tragedy the judgment of God entailed here. The wreckage it would leave behind. Really it gives opportunity to clear the stage and rebuild starting with the altar of the Lord.

Well here is the battle cry!!! What are we gonna do now??? Continue to shout or war on how the world has tried to swallow up our children and spit them out, when it has gained entry and abides within !?!
If there was any question this chapter shows us that God is a just God. He is a jealous God. We sometimes get lax about our goings on, but we would do good to remember that God is a just jealous God.
