Hosea 11

When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

He shall not return into the land of Egypt, and the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.

And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord.

12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

  1. Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

It is important to stay faithful to God no matter what the situation you are in. God will give you victory.
    Thank you Jesus!

    GOD NOT MAN

9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

This is the 2nd place that I recall where GOD says that he is not man. The first and most referred is:

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

GOD associates lies with humanity, the fruit of the fallen nature of man. Because satan the father of lies has no respect for GOD.

Here is Hosea, GOD likens the fierceness of anger with humanity. He declares, GOD is not a man. May JESUS continually remind us through HIS WORD that HE is not man nor like man as we have grown accustom to. GOD and HIS ways are above our ways and mans ways. Therefore we should search out GOD to know what and how HE will respond.

We are made in the image of GOD and after HIS likeness. We possess HIS Holy Nature. GOD does not follow our unholy nature and likeness,

  3. Hosea 11
    The Message
Israel Played at Religion with Toy Gods
11 1-9 “When Israel was only a child, I loved him.
I called out, ‘My son!’—called him out of Egypt.
    But when others called him,
he ran off and left me.
He worshiped the popular sex gods,
he played at religion with toy gods.
Still, I stuck with him. I led Ephraim.
I rescued him from human bondage,
But he never acknowledged my help,
never admitted that I was the one pulling his wagon,
That I lifted him, like a baby, to my cheek,
that I bent down to feed him.
Now he wants to go back to Egypt or go over to Assyria—
    anything but return to me!
That’s why his cities are unsafe—the murder rate skyrockets
and every plan to improve things falls to pieces.
My people are hell-bent on leaving me.
They pray to god Baal for help.
He doesn’t lift a finger to help them.
But how can I give up on you, Ephraim?
How can I turn you loose, Israel?
How can I leave you to be ruined like Admah,
    devastated like luckless Zeboim?
I can’t bear to even think such thoughts.
    My insides churn in protest.
And so I’m not going to act on my anger.
I’m not going to destroy Ephraim.
And why? Because I am God and not a human.
I’m The Holy One and I’m here—in your very midst.

10-12 “The people will end up following God.
I will roar like a lion—
    Oh, how I’ll roar!
My frightened children will come running from the west.
Like frightened birds they’ll come from Egypt,
    from Assyria like scared doves.
I’ll move them back into their homes.”
    God’s Word!

    Soul-Destroying Lies
Ephraim tells lies right and left.
Not a word of Israel can be trusted.
    Judah, meanwhile, is no better,
    addicted to cheap gods.
This Message version is very close to what is happening in our world today. Thank God the world is not my home I’m just traveling thru. My treasures are laid up way beyond the blue. I love POFW LIVEJESUSGIVEJESUS2

  4. 4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

At some point everyone has had the Lord knock on the door of their heart. The Lord does not wish that anyone should perish.

  5. Hosea 11:3
I myself taught Israel how to walk, leading him along by the hand. But he doesn’t know or even care that it was I who took care of him.

    Isaiah 41:13
For I hold you by your right hand— I, the lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

  6. Soul-Destroying Lies
Ephraim tells lies right and left.
Not a word of Israel can be trusted.
    Judah, meanwhile, is no better,
    addicted to cheap gods.

Judah means praise. Here we see that praise was being give to gods of this world. Why is it so easy to take our eyes off of Jesus and give our praise to the gods of this world? Because giving praise to the gods of this world brings glory to ourselves in some measure. However, His word clearly says He is a jealous God. He will not share His glory with another. It’s time we remove the small gods of this world in our lives, and put our attention, our praise, our purpose back to the King of the World. Let our praise be pleasing to His ears, lifting Him up above all.

  7. Hosea 11:12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit : but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

Psalm 99:5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship and his footstool; for he is holy.
132:16 I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

  8. Hosea 11

    10 They will follow the Lord;
he will roar like a lion.
    When he roars,
his children will come trembling from the west.
11 They will come from Egypt,
    trembling like sparrows,
    from Assyria, fluttering like doves.
I will settle them in their homes,
    declares the Lord.

The Lord is gracious and kind . He calls all to repentance . I declare backslidden loved ones are returning . In Jesus name !

  9. 12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

Sometimes it can be easy to think that God doesn’t notice when we are doing what is right because he is too focused on those that are in sin. But he sees everything we do. Just like we taught and learned with vacation Bible School that God knows, sees, and comforts his children. We must continue to stay faithful and hold true to the gospel at all times and remember that God is still with us even what it doesn’t seem like it

  10. 9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

At Gibran, the tribes stood together in punishing the tribe of Benjamin for its sin ( Judg. 20 ). But since then, the history of Israel has been a record of sin. NOW GOD WILL USE THE NATIONS TO HUMBLE A PEOPLE UNITED IN SIN.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  11. 8 NLT “Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.”
‭Although His people were determined to stray from Him, God was all the more determined to win them back. He could not bear to give me them up. He continued to show them love and mercy. God’s love remains faithful even when we are undeserving of it. His mercies are new every day! Thank you Jesus for loving me and never giving up on me!

  12. Hosea 11: 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him and called My son out of Egypt.
Matt. 2: 15 And remained there until Herod’s death. This was a fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, Out of Egypt have I called My son.
God loved Israel all through its entire history, from its humble beginnings, through the wilderness, and into the Promised Land, Israel rejected God’s love and did not deserve mercy, yet God did not want to destroy them.
I thanked God for his mercy and love even when I don’t deserve it.
God is great and greatly to be praised.

  13. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

There will come a time when God will close his door to our prayers. We must be ready for the the groom before he comes.

  14. Our God! Our Sweet Heavenly Father who guides us through all difficulties and loves us, is standing on disbelief. All we do is sin, backslide, and run after idols. It’s sad to see society as a whole put other things above God. Let it be your kids activities, football games, etc. God desires to spend time with us. To love on us like any other parent would, but we act like ingrate teenagers full of attitude and He is getting tired of it. One of this days He will let go and we won’t know what happened. Then the trumpet will sound and it will be too late. Repentance is free!!! God still loves us enough to make a way out!!! Jesus, God wrapped in flesh, made the way out for us to live in Him eternally!!!! The most beautiful 3 step program is given to us by Christ Jesus!!! Repent, be baptized in Jesus Name, and be filled with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives you utterance!!!! He gave Himself as the ultimate sacrifice so you and I can always have a way out of sin!!! It is not too late, run to His Mercy Sear and find the most Perfect Love of All ❤️♥️ Thank you Jesus for always giving us a way out!!!

  15. For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me.
    Hosea 11:7 NLT

Do our actions match our words? It’s too easy and too dangerous to go through the motions, especially in these end times. God is coming soon and we need to be prepared!

  16. 10 For someday the people will follow me. I, the Lord, will roar like a lion. And when I roar, my people will return trembling from the west. 11 Like a flock of birds, they will come from Egypt. Trembling like doves, they will return from Assyria. And I will bring them home again,” says the Lord.
    Hosea 11:10‭-‬11 NLT

    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.11.10-11.NLT

My God is Mighty. My God has roared for me. And I have come to Him trembling. I have been delivered. I have been redeemed. Glory Glory to Your Great Name!!

  17. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

We have seen this in the present time that we are living, the very essence of a father asking how can he give up his children? I find that God is staying here through Hosea, they were my children but how can I destroy them through the judgment they deserve? I often wonder how many times has God try to get our attention to turn away from the means of backsliding and come back to him? Many would say I go to church and I pay my tithes and I work in the church! But the question is what is the true condition of your heart toward God? Many can play and act the part but hold envy, strife, jealousy, and other things that will cause sin to settle in.

We have to be pure in our motives and our actions to allow God to operate in our lives to fulfill our purpose and calling. Love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, and soul so that you will not backslide.

3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

Throughout these scriptures there is one reoccurring theme, God delivers and man gives another god the credit. If we are not careful, we will find ourselves in the same boat. We might not give thanks to baal as Israel did, but we stop praying like we should, we stop worshipping like we should, we just forget God a little bit and Boom!

  19. “And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him. How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboiim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:7-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They were determined to turn away but god was even more determined to keep them close. We must take on this spirit as we are reaching those who are lost. We can’t give up on them just because they have turned away. There will be some resistance and pressure but with that pressure something good will come out of it. Now more than ever we have to keep going and not throw in the towel. Those lost souls are valuable in gods kingdom and we can’t let them slip away.

  20. 8 how can I give you up Ephraim?
How can I surrender you Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I treat you like Sebohim?
    —-
How can I surrender you Israel? 🥲 this got a tear out of my eye.
Wow!!! How can I surrender you?

  21. Hosea 11:10-11 (TLB-Pharaphrased)
    10) For the people shall walk after the Lord. I shall roar as a lion (at their enemies) and my people shall return trembling from the west.
    11) Like a flock of birds, they will come from Egypt – like doves flying from Assyria. And I will bring them home again, it is a promise from the Lord.

    “My people shall return”
    “They will come from Egypt”
“I will bring them home again”
“It is a Promise from the Lord”

Have we not been Prophesied to? Have we not been given a Promise from the Lord? that people that have gone back to Egypt (the world) – backsliders are going to return. They’re coming home again. It’s a Promise from the Lord – Surprise Harvest!
Thank You JESUS! I’m Believing in Your Prophetic Spoken Word!! They’re Returning – They’re Coming Home!!

  22. The Living Bible vs-9
No i will not punish you as much as my fierce anger tells me to. This is the last time I will destroy Ephraim. For i am God and not man I am the Holy One living among you and i did not come to destroy.
    God and not man
Human beings lose patience. Thats the fifth time you have been late! one more time and your out! We also tend to have legalistic relationships. You did that ! Then its alright for me to do that to you too. God is different . His love is patient. His love cannot be weighed on balance scales. He is God not man.

  23. 3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

There are defined seasons in our lives that God has set. Things that we go through that are for a set time. Because it is the process that Gods has made.

But like many times before we are oblivious to Gods handy work. God is operating in the invisible and as children of God we must know that all of steps, no matter where we find ourselves, are directed by God. For all of those that love God.

  24. “Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Where is our praise going? Is our praise with God, with ourselves, or with the things of this world. What we spend our time on most whether thinking it or doing is where our heart lies and that’s where our praise will be.

  25. Verse 7 “For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High God but they don’t truly honor me.” YOU determine what actions you take, YOU determine and make the decision on where to be and when. You make the choice of honoring God or flirting around with sin. Our Proverb for today says in verse 24 “Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.”

  26. “For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There are so many people in this world that call themselves Christian, but they don’t truly give their lives to God, they live for him halfheartedly and go against his word many times. It is important that we check ourselves daily, that we check if what we are doing is right with God, that we are making sure we are willing to do what he commands and living in his path. I pray that we make God the center of our lives for it will all fall into place, and after he will raise us up to victory while those who turned against him will fail.

  27. 10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

When we walk after God, we walk in victory. The enemy does not want us to know this. We have power when we follow the way of the Lord. We can push through anything the enemy throws our way. Our mind has to be made up to serve the Lord with everything within us. God wants our all and not just part of us.

  28. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

We all know at least one person who needs Jesus or had Him and needs Him back. We must show them the way and or direct them in His rightful path! We don’t want anyone left behind…this reminds me of the saying from trolls where it goes” No troll left behind!” The king of the trolls had to make sure that everyone was safe while travel and stuff this is kinda like pastors job. We must all be followers to the word and man of God! I pray tonight that you are taking His righteous path all the days of your life!!!

  29. 4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

God draws us tenderly unto Him. We wraps us into His love which is greater than our imagination. Yet it’s up to us to allow ourselves the opportunity to be loved by Him and drawn by Him. Yet often men are so persistent to do their own thing. Persistent to backslide and turn from him.

  30. Hosea 11

7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

8 How shall I give them up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

How often have you said to others, I will give you a second chance? Or I will give them tough love? What did God have to do for Israel? We all have been hurt at one time. We are supposed to forgive. Wow! How many times has God forgave you? When reading the Bible, we see a multitude of times when God forgave others. We must remember, to forgive others. I know some people who hold a grudge. This is not how Jesus wants us to be. Love your neighbor!
Thank you Jesus for this day!

  31. 10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

We need to walk with God when we walk with him our enemies will tremble

  32. 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

This immediately reminded me of another scripture:

    ‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

It is easy to love an innocent child, and it is easy to get along with someone who does extort what you want then to. But there is a time period between child and old that the waters get tested. This is not to say that we do not love our grown kids or we don’t love our trying teenagers. This just means there are trials ahead and it may not be an easy road. But we have a promise that if we just hold on, they will get old sometime. This old means mature, it means seasoned and some get there fast than others. All though we must come to the Father with childlike faith, and he loves us for it we must mature in our walk to grow and help others. We must keep one hand on the child inside us and one on the adult that is necessary to our growth.

  33. 10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

  34. I will not execute the fierceness of My anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim. For I am God, and not man, The Holy One in your midst; And I will not come with terror. “They shall walk after the Lord. He will roar like a lion. When He roars, Then His sons shall come trembling from the west; They shall come trembling like a bird from Egypt, Like a dove from the land of Assyria. And I will let them dwell in their houses,” Says the Lord.
    Hosea 11:9‭-‬11 NKJV

This chapter left me thinking that the Lord has more hope and faith for his people than what we sometimes show towards him. He is confident that at his roar his sons will come trembling. I know that He is God and is capable of anything. However, somehow I see some what of a picture of faith…Faith God has towards his people. Like a belief that they will come through. No doubt, no second guesses just knows what he knows. He says I am God and not man. Uses words of absolute certainty because God will open his mouth to roar and therefore it shall be done. If we could grasp this example of faith. If we can just allow our frail and finite minds to comprehend who our God is. Then with all confidence approach him in prayer knowing that he shall answer and what he says it will be done. No, if, and, or, buts about it.

  35. 8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

  36. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

We are human. . . we make mistakes. . . we make errors. We can be prone to backsliding. I guess this is why the enemy tries so hard to come against us from all angles, including some of the people closest to us.

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

However, we are strong and mighty. We are greater, we are victorious, because we are backed by the almighty! “. . . walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: . .” He will roar for us, He will protect us, He is there to back us up. “. . . when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble. . .” He will back us up, so much so, that people will tremble as they will know by our actions and the presence that follows us, who we are and what we stand for.

  37. This chapter makes me think of raising our children. They come into this world and are raised in love. We teach them right and guard them with prayer. When the world calls to them we pray all the more but eventually they choose their way. Some come with you like Judah did with God while some go on another way like Ephraim. Yet like we love them and keep praying – watching for them like their Father in heaven does, waiting on them to come home. We never give up on them!

  38. “For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me. “Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I’ve tried to imagine how painful it is when we sin.
If anyone has ever experienced being cheated on then imagine how hurt and torn you were to see or experience the whole thing. We serve a God that forgives us time after time again but every time we sin it’s like us cheating. We’re cheating him. But we have grace we don’t deserve and we have mercy we don’t deserve.
