Psalm 37

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.

18 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

  2. Thank you Lord, for your Word today.
Sometimes we look at the world and think wow i want to be/have what they have, but beware it’s from another source~ besides God. Don’t go there. God is very clear in this chptr of what happens tothose who don’t follow His ways.
I thank the Lord for showing me the way to Him.
And the privalages of following His virtues.

  3. I told you yesterday that God has the Victory and He will gave us that Victory. No matte how good you think the wicked has it, it won’t even come close to how GOOD we will have it in GLORY.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Is that Peace that surpasses ALL understanding.

  4. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

    An Abundance of Peace

God always gives good gifts and he gives them in abundance. When he gives life, he gives it abundantly and when he gives peace; it’s given in excess or more than enough. Our God has gifts to give his children. I will put my trust in him, not just a little trust, but abundantly, running over the brim and flowing freely. Lets hold nothing back!

  5. 40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

    Just Trust The Lord.

  6. 28 The LORD loves justic

Thr words are in such plain truth
yet time after time people try doing justice
themself. Please people of the LORD
know he will take care of you.

We have truley watched him do this in
life and its such a blessing that if we let

  7. We see in this chapter two paths: the path of evil or the path of righteousness. Both have their own rewards. It is up to us to choose which path we want to live by. The Lord only blesses one path – the path of those that trust and follow Him. Those that follow God’s path have the promise of provision, blessing, their steps being ordered of the Lord, finding delight in Him and His presence, inheritance of the land, peace, salvation, wisdom and deliverance. All of this stems from one thing – we must trust Him, and trust that He knows what’s best for us.

  8. 34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

    No Faith is wickedness

There are no grey areas with God. You are either righteous or wicked. You can be cut off or inherit. The Lord sees our walk, he sees our actions. Faith without works is dead, so no faith equals being wicked.wicke equals cut off. Cut off equals no inheritance. No inheritance equals eternal death. No faith equals wickedness

  9. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5 KJV)

9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

You may think that these are two seperate ways of inheriting the earth, but they are not. Some words that define meek: Quiet, gentile, submissive–that means in verse 9 that David is describing the actions of someone who is meek. Someone who is meek will wait upon The Lord because they are submitted to HIM.

  10. BLESSED

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (Psalms 37:25 KJV)

COMMITMENT, TRUST, OBEDIENCE. THESE ARE KEY WORDS IN FOLLOWING THE LORD AND BEING RIGHTEOUS. THIS IDENTIFIES THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. SUCCESSFUL NOT BECAUSE OF BUSINESS DECISIONS, NOT BECAUSE OF FRIENDS OR FAMILY BUT SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE THE LORD HAS NEVER FAILED THEM.

Generations have passed, time has transcended, the word of God stands true. Our challenge is to live righteous in a wicked society. We are promised to be BLESSED for righteous living. For me this promise motivates me to avoid evil and to do good.

What a testimony! Live right and be covered by the promises of GOD! Make RIGHT choices everyday and be BLESSED! Do IT today, repeat it the next day thereafter.

  11. This is an incredible chapter with a lot to comment on, but I can’t get past the first two words. Fret not. Don’t worry. Put it in Gods hand. As this day begins cling tightly to these two words. God bless

  12. This chapter illustrates unwavering. David instructs all to stand and not waiver for God will provide. One must trust and obey the Word of God and the instruction from his servant; “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. I have heard the “slant” on the this scripture all my life. “4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” However; today, I have a new understanding. Previously, I believed the Lord would give me the desires of my heart as long as I lived holy and righteous. Whether that desire was a new car, a new home, a slimmer body, pass a test, receive a promotion, etc… That is not what the scripture states! The scripture states: Delight thyself also in the Lord.

If one delights themselves the Lord or enjoys his company and is excited just to be near him the “true” desire of ones heart will not be on carnal things. As Bro Green spoke last night the more we seek his face; not his hand, the more we will become like him.

    Amen!!

  14. Verses 7-9 MSG read:

    “Quiet down before God,
    be prayerful before him.
Don’t bother with those who climb the ladder,
who elbow their way to the top.

Bridle your anger, trash your wrath,
cool your pipes—it only makes things worse.
    Before long the crooks will be bankrupt;
God-investors will soon own the store.”

These verses really spoke to me today…..God knows, as only a good friend can, what you need and when you need it!

Verses 27-28 MSG read “Turn your back on evil, work for the good and don’t quit. God loves this kind of thing, never turns away from his friends.” We are learning to understand that friendship with Jesus brings blessings, in our Sunday School class this Sunday. Thank you Lord for your word.

  15. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:4, 5 AMP)

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
    How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
    Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

Still in a mindframe of being in His presence from last night. Having moments of “my cup runneth over Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
My God is so Awesome! Thank you POFW family. At the POFW I was restored, equipped to serve, claimed my promises ( Michael and my children), dedicated my little promises back to the Lord, restored again, equipped to serve again, and where my child has received the Holy Ghost 🙂 I love POFW! Lets reap the harvest! 2013 is our year for revival! My Dad and Stephaine will be coming back home. My Uncle John and JoAnn will be coming back home! In Jesus name!

  16. 34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

What does it mean to keep his way?

The word keep suggests building a hedge of thorns, a solid impenetrable offense that cannot be compromised. A tall wide wall with soldiers patrolling, and watchmen looking for the enemy.

The word way is manner, habit, and course of life. In other words it is who God is: his expression, his face.

We must do whatever it takes to make sure the the adulterated truth, standards, and landmarks are never allowed to be torn down.

  17. There are 2 things God does not want us to do. One, he doesn’t want us to FRET because of evildoers, and two, he doesn’t want us to be ENVIOUS of the workers of iniquity.

As his children, there are 4 things he does want us to do. One, TRUST in him. Two, DELIGHT in him. Three, COMMIT our ways to him. Four, REST in him.

So, all I have to say is, “DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY!”

  18. 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Two wonderful promises here for us:

    1. If we delight ourselves in the Lord, then He will give us the desires of our hearts… Here it is, If we truely find our delight in Jesus, we desire to find more of Him and do more of His work… Jesus wants us to have a heart that longs to be with Him, doing His work, seeking His face (visage), not longing to have bigger cars, and more money. HIM! It is all about HIM. We should have a hunger about us that craves more Jesus. We should not be so stuck on ourselves that we only seek to get from Him. While it is not wrong to want other things, we must be diligent to understand that everything has a proper place and order, and Jesus should always be first.
    2. If we commit our ways unto Jesus, and really, honestly trust that He is in control, and knows what is best, and will provide for us, then not only will He bring to pass what we are trusting Him for, but also He will cause our righteousness to shine everywhere, for everyone to see, shattering all darkness that is anywhere around us, and will also cause our judgements to stand high above everyone else around us, lighting their paths too.

  19. v. 39 But the salvation of the righteous is of The Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

In our troubles He is our help and strength! Thankful for a God who is there for us! Trust in Him NOW!

  20. 27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

You can’t serve God and the world too. You can only have one master. Its time the church to do away with evil and focus on what God wants us to do. We all have lost family members and backslider friends that we need to start praying for and intervene for their souls. We heard awesome word this weekend stating that its high time to do what God has ordained us to do.

  21. In this scripture,in vs. 25, 39,and 40 are what stand out to me. We won’t be begging bread nor will he abandon us to our enemies. He is our supplier, help, strength and deliverer. Even when we fall…….

    “Now”………….

  22. NLT 7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Blessings come to those who wait upon the Lord and his time!

  23. 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

I am thankful to know that he directs my path. As long as I walk in the Spirit and submit to his word I will always be on the right path. Even when things are not going the way I think they should I can trust that he is grinding me and keeping me.

  24. fret not, trust, commit and delight are a few of the words how this psalm’s sentences begin. how direct can that be to the reader. this is very encouraging and thought provoking because king David also explains the out come of the evil and the wicked and that is also encouraging and valiantly spoken

  25. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

Just be patience. Its all in God’s time. The time to pray and act is NOW!

  26. 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

God knows the desires of my heart.. I have prayed and fasted and waited patiently on The Lord and now I am seeing doors opened in my life. I’m seeing dreams slowing beginning to happen. I will rejoice in The Lord, and thank Him every second I get!!! 🙂

  27. v27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

Self- honesty will cause one to be honest with with oneself to realize that the preached Word is in some way to all of us.
It’s a good thing to self – examine oneself and be honest, because from GOD’S point of view there are no little sins or big sins.
    GOD hates all sin.
I’m thankful that HIS WORD is a searchlight into our hearts and HIS Words will never pass away because HIS WORDS ARE TRUTH ” We can do nothing against the truth” 2 Corinthians 13: 8

Do No Evil Do What Is Good.
” Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin”
    James 4:17

    iChoose to be honest
    iChoose to do good

  28. This chapter gives so many comparisons of how much greater it is to serve God rather than take part in the destruction of the wicked. Peace, blessings and inheritances-deliverance, mercy and salvation. .. what more could we want? I choose to wait upon the Lord.

  29. God does not work in our time but in His time. We have to be patient throughout our storms knowing God has a plan for us and He never fails. So praise Him through the storm!

  30. The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

This is one of my favorite psalms it always brings hope of the promises of God. It explains the ways of the righteous and the way of the wicked. The benefits package of going God’s way and trusting in Him and the recompense of the evildoers. In here all throughout I hear the words, “be patient” keep walking with me, keep trusting in me, most of all, keep loving me..says our Lord. Promised to be taken care of by the almighty God. And all He wants is just of our time and heart, to delight in Him. To enjoy His presence rather than the wants of this world. He is a good God and knows exactly what we want and desire and wants to bless us and give us everything, at the right time. And all He wants is for us to want Him more. To love Him more, to desire Him more. And our lives to lay then before Him and say I want to live your way and know that your way is better, your way will bless me 🙂

  31. Be Not Weary

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

    Galatians 6:9
9 And let us not be weary in well doing:for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

“But God, I sowed and was faithful but now the one who didn’t sow is reaping and I’m left empty!”

    Be not weary…

“But God, I did what You said but it feels like my world is caving in!”

    Be not weary…

“But God, I stood for what is right but now I feel like I’m being penalized for it!”

    Be not weary…

    Isaiah 40:28-31
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

    Isaiah 28:11-12
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

NOW Refreshing in the Holy Ghost defeats weariness so we can reap in due season!

God is not weary; if we feel faint in pursuing His promises and maintaining righteous living, we’re probably too low on God. Too often we can fall into the trap of trying to do things in our strength, getting worn out, and coming to God for restoration so we can turn around and go back to working at it in our own strength all over again.

    Zechariah 4:6-10
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. 7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. 8 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. 10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

When we allow God to be the one doing the work and are empowered by His Spirit, we don’t experience weariness as we would in the flesh. Weariness deals also with a state of mind; when we are refilled with Jesus and our minds are renewed, we can have the non-weariness mindset that presses beyond surface circumstances and setbacks and wear and tear according to the flesh.

    Hebrews 10:35 – 11:1
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. (Chapter 11) 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him:for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

NOW Faith is critical to surviving the season when weariness in well doing comes pounding at the door, ready to come barreling in at the slightest opening. Faith is our shield to protect, but the trump is staying full of the Holy Ghost. It’s hard for weariness to get in when faith is high and there’s no vacancy for it anyhow!

    Jude 1:20
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost

    Acts 6:5
And the saying pleased the whole multitude:and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

    Acts 6:8
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

We must NOW be full of Jesus and faith so we can reap!

  32. 7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

  33. We can only trust in the Lord and him alone. Even thought the evil seem to prosper, God will judge them and reward those who follow him.

  34. Delight in God!

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

David expression on this psalm a deep truth that he’s discovered by experience: If he finds his lifes delight in the Lord, all his desires are fulfilled. To delight in someone is to find joy in their unique qualities and to express pleasure in their company. When we make the Lord the object if our delight, spending time in His presece reveling in His character, our deepest heart’s desire gradually aligns themselves with His own. We dicover that what we want is what He wants- and how delighted He is to honor our hearts desires by keeping us in the center of His will. As we believe in Him and grow to love Him more day by day, we will be “filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,” for we will be enjoying the ultimate prize of our faith, the eternal salvation of our souls “(8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory “9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. ” (1Pe 1:8-9)
